“In eight minutes the accursed Planet of Gold will be utterly destroyed.” One of the highest regarded sets in Character's Toys original Classic Doctor Who run was the Revenge of the Cybermen 3-pack released in 2010 as a Forbidden Planet exclusive in the UK, and distributed by Underground Toys in the US. The set utilised a single Cyberman sculpt, replicated three times into two Cybermen and one Cyberleader, along with a new Cybermat accessory. The set has, over time, become highly sought after on the secondary market, fetching a relatively high premium for single loose Cyberman figures, or where it does crop up rarely, the full set. It was, therefore, welcome news to collectors when the set was announced as a re-release in the B&M Exclusive Collector line for 2025, putting the Revenge Cybermen back into circulation some 15 years after their first appearance. The Revenge of the Cybermen collector set follows the established packaging for the current B&M releases with a rectangular white box with design principles aligned to the current Doctor Who merchandise principles, including the ongoing use of the 60th Anniversary diamond logo and a TARDIS image in the bottom left corner. Character’s own design elements are also applied, including an accent colour aligned to each Doctor, the 4th Doctor utilising a lighter blue tone. There are also the usual diamond call-outs confirming the scale, source material and the overall contents. The foil collector sticker that reads ‘Limited Edition’ is also retained on the bottom right corner.  The back of the box is text-heavy, focusing on an in-depth overview of the 1975 story, but without any ‘behind the scenes’ snippets that are sometimes included. While the box looks like a traditional window box, the window is actually a blister glued to a backing card within the outer box. The figures appear to be fixed into this leaning forward due to their backpack and without an inner tray to keep them at a true upright positon. For this set, the backing card is not the usual blue time vortex, but is instead a glorious illustration of the Nerve Beacon. While this presents additional depth for the set, it is a real shame to see this destroyed in order to access the figure as there is no way to remove the blister without severe damage to the card. Reverting to a traditional box would have allowed collectors to utilise this backdrop, as well as being able to open and eventually repack their figures as they wished.  With our set unpacked, we will start with the standard Cybermen, both of which are identical in their decor. This is, of course, silver across the majority of parts, with our Cybermen wearing a base suit with corrugated silver knees and elbows. Ridged piping is added down both the arms and legs, including a slightly flexible joint at both elbows and knees to allow the piping to move with the joint. At the shoulders, this piping connects into a large circular joint, then extends in two directions. The first goes down the back, crossing in the middle into another circular joint, then extending around to a 90-degree joint that continues down to connect to the leg piping. At the front, the conduit extends down into the chest unit. The chest unit itself is in three panels, with the two sides inclusive of sculpted components and the centre panel using a darker central panel above which sits a gold/silver five-pronged segment, and at the bottom of which is a similarly coloured gold/silver circular panel. The same tubing then extends The Cyberhelmet, for me, the most iconic look for the Cybermen, and features the blank face with sculpted mouth slot, and circular eye cut-outs, including the tear drop. Both of these are picked out in a dark grey internally to create depth and contrast. The helmet features two side sections and then the handles, which are also a ridged piping that comes out of the side near the eyes and comes round to the peak of the helmet, where we also find a central forehead weapon which is sculpted in a circular panel and made up of four grouped barrels. Like the eyes and mouth, the barrels are also picked out in a darker grey. The Cyberleader is identical to his troops apart from the helmet, with everything bar the faceplate painted in black and with the forehead laser weapon coloured silver.  vs the 2010 Revenge of the Cyberman Release (right) The figures use the original 2010 sculpt with no variations to any of the parts. Character has made some decor changes to differentiate the set from the original release, with the gold/silver tones used on the top and bottom of the chest panel and the choice to change the centre of the chest unit from black to a darker silver. These new decor choices are accurate to the props, but both ‘versions’ can be seen in the show depending on the lighting and how the Cybermen are positioned.  vs the 2010 Revenge of the Cyberman Release (right) Articulation is, of course, the older format as used in 2010 with visible pinned knees and elbows, although these joints are better disguised than other figures, thanks to the side piping. We have 14 points in total, although the neck joint offers barely anything more than a few mm turn to either side. The arms can extend and gesture, with the bicep swivel much more engineered into the figure than usual, thanks to the way the Cybermen joint their own suits with the corrugated sections within the main suit. The legs are, however, lacking the thigh swivel we usually see, leaving the hips and knees to do the work. There is enough movement to achieve a handful of neutral stances, while also scope to have the Cybermen in a walking position - although this relies on careful balance and won’t be sustainable on display without a stand of sorts.  While the piping is engineered to move with the joints, it does have limitations and will be at risk of stretching and eventually breaking with any extensive movements. Something to be mindful of when posing your Cybermen. The set also includes the larger Cybermat introduced for Revenge, and as included in the original set. This is along the lines of a snake with a bloated midsection and with a segmented upper carapace, all cast in silver. Underneath, we have more ridged detailing, coloured in a darker silver, and a black front section with a gold ‘mouth’ piece.  Again, this is the same sculpt as 2010, but with further decor variations. The biggest change is the use of a black and then gold front section while the original figure had a silver underbelly and a small red painted ‘mouth’. vs the 2010 Revenge of the Cyberman Release (right) The Cybermat has no articulation and is engineered to sit on its rear quarters, displayed as though rearing up to attack its next victim.   For those who missed out in 2010, the set is a welcome re-release and brings an iconic Cyberman look into collections alongside the Fourth Doctor and, of course, with Sarah Jane and Harry from the Season 12 stories also now being available. For those who do own the original 2010 set, the new figures offer variations and arguably improvements with some more accurate paint work on the chest and helmet vs the original props.  The packaging does present a frustration with such a lovely backdrop being designed, only for it to be damaged when the figures are removed. But for £24.99, the set offers great value for money. The set is arriving now (September 17th 2025 onwards) at B&M stores across the UK and will be available while stocks last. “Order Special Weapons Dalek into position.” Remembrance of the Daleks, the 20th Anniversary story for Doctor Who from 1988, has a place in many people's hearts (including my own) as one of their favourites. As well as revisiting the Doctor’s origins in 1963 and Totters Yard, the four-part story also introduces us to Emperor Davros and the Special Weapons Dalek - two brand new principles for the Daleks who otherwise had seen little variation other than colouring since the last time we saw an Emperor in Evil of the Daleks.  The Special Weapons Dalek had been released in the Character Toys Doctor Who line in 2010 as a standard figure and part of the Remembrance 4-Pack, and again in 2013 as a Sound FX Dalek with included sounds and sold as a solo carded release via Forbidden Planet. Since then it has become one of the most sought-after figures in the series, probably second only to Emperor Davros until his eventual re-release through the B&M series in 2024. Now that same treatment is being applied to the Special Weapons Dalek, wrapped up in a History of the Daleks Set for B&M’s Autumn 2025 releases, alongside another Imperial Dalek Drone for your Imperial Dalek faction. The 2025 release is number 20 in the History of the Daleks series, filling in the gap between the 2024 release of the Parting of the Ways Daleks and the 2025 Eve of the Daleks Executioners. This does now well and truly put the numbering system for History out of sync in terms of release dates for each story. The box is the usual squared design with a white base colour scheme, current diagonal Doctor Who logo as established for the 60th Anniversary, and TARDIS illustrations. The Doctor-specific colour scheme continues, with a purple hue for the Seventh Doctor. The box features the usual ‘call out’ diamonds confirming the era on which it is based, the scale, and the contents. The main title details ‘History of the Daleks 20’ along the bottom rail, while the story is confirmed top right along with a subtitle that reads ‘Imperial Battle Squad’ to differentiate it from the 2023 Renegade Dalek pairing.  The rear of the box is devoid of artwork, and focuses solely on the usual in-depth text that deep dives into the storyline from Remembrance as well as a lot of information ‘Behind the Scenes’ about the Dalek props and designs, which is always an interesting read. The Daleks themselves are packed inside on an internal tray that uses a blue vortex backdrop. This is not a window box anymore, and is rather a blister that is glued onto this internal backing card. This means you will ‘damage’ your packaging getting your Daleks out so there is no repacking options for collectors.  Looking at the Imperial Dalek Drone first, and this is built on the usual and long-running Classic Dalek body, cast in a cream white finish. Gold is added to the hemispheres on the base, around the central slats, and in the mesh of the neck. We also have gold cast gun and manipulator arms, gold ‘headlights’ on the dome, and a gold finish to both the eye piece and central rings of the eyestalk - the central shaft of which is left white.  Proportionally and visually, this all works in regard to replicating in 5 inch scale what we see during the events of Remembrance. The mold itself is showing its age in place, with the gap between the skirt halves starting to become more prevalent at both the front edge and the rear.  Each of the previous releases of the Imperial Drone has featured a variantion to the previous release with the original 2-pack with the 7th Doctor featuring a smaller eye stalk, longer suckerarm and straight gun arm. This was updated in the Remembrance 4-pack from 2010 with the eye stalk updated to a larger version, while the sucker arm was reduced and the gun arm was swapped out to the 'pinched' version. In 2020 , the Drone got another outing in a set with Ace, and in this Coalhill School version, we saw another change with the eye stalk updated again to a mid-sized version with darker iris and a return to the straight gun arm. This 2020 release also saw the gold colouring darken vs the originals. vs prior releases (1) 2010 w/Doctor (2) 2010 Dalek 4-Pack (3) 2020 Coalhill School Set (4) 2025 History This 2025 release incorporates the smaller sucker arm from the Coalhill School 2020 figure and uses the straight gun arm used on the majority of the other versions. We do get a new version of the eye stalk, which sees an update to the eye piece and rings, but without extending the shaft considerably in length. The eyepiece also features a silver iris rather than the blue or black we’ve seen on the other releases.  As is usual, the articulation on the Dalek is centred around the three appendages with the eyestalk sitting in a vertical socket and can be raised upward. The Sucker and Gun arms are a ball joint connection, allowing more extensive movement within the confines of their socket. The other articulation is at the dome, which rotates a full 360 degrees. We also have a set of three ‘wheels’ under the base section which allow the Dalek to be ‘pushed around’ while also raising it up off the floor slightly.  Moving to the Special Weapons Dalek, and this mirrors the unique design of ‘the abomination’. The skirt is standard with the usual base and slatted sections with hemispheres running in sets of four up to the mid-section. From this point, the Special Weapons platform kicks in with a central ridged section that extends up into a gun emplacement design with sculpted rivets. The large ‘gun’ extends from this central platform. We then move up to the dome, which is again unique by way of a flatter dome, ringed with a riveted outer section. This tops an inner ringed section that is a heavier armoured design rather than the usual mesh, and sits into the shoulder collar.  Colour-wise, the Special Weapons Dalek uses the base cream/white of the Imperials and the same gold highlights on the base, hemispheres, central gun emplacement and the upper dome. All of this is washed heavily to give a dirty and grimy look in keeping with what we see on screen. This is heavy-handed in places and quite linear around the hemispheres in particular, rather than being more spread out. vs 2010 Special Weapons Dalek (non FX) release on right The other releases of the SWD in 2010 and 2013 were on the exact same sculpt albeit with some upgrades to the 2013 version to incorporate batteries and the FX components. I do not have that FX version to compare, but lining up the 2025 release with the 2010, there are variations in the decor and the weathering in particular. There is a heavier application on the new version, but not so much around the central shoulder, which had a weird striping on the original version. The gold is also updated and brighter, while the gun is a duller, plastic grey rather than the more gun-metal aligned finish on the original. Our Special Weapons Dalek has limited movement, restricted solely to the central piece and the ability for the upper weapons platform to rotate 360 degrees around the base. There is also a joint in the cannon itself, allowing it to be raised or lowered. The dome is fixed and cannot move, but we do still get the three wheels under the base. For £21.99, this set brings two popular Dalek models into your collection, particularly if you’ve been waiting for these to be re-released, having missed out on them the first time round. For those who have these already, there are variances with the Remembrance Drone appearing crisper and with an updated eyestalk. The Special Weapons Dalek changes and which is ‘best’ will be a personal choice. I prefer the deeper gold on the new version and the upper weathering, but would have liked a more subtle approach to the lower skirt weathering wash. With the other Autumn 2025 B&M Exclusive Release, Revenge of the Cybermen The packaging looks great until opened, and I wish that Character and B&M would consider a return to the traditional window boxes if only to preserve the wonderful cardboard backings. Two of Nacelle Toy's Star Trek Wave 2 figures were unveiled at FanX Salt Lake. While we already know the full content of Wave 2, these digital images give us a better look at what the figures themselves will look like and what accessories will be included. Bem is taken from the Star Trek Animated Series and comes with extra head, hands, and accessories. T'Pol is based on her Star Trek Enterprise look from Series 3 and 4 and also includes extra hands along with Starfleet gear such as communicator, phaser, and datapad. McFarlane's next Collectors Club 'Drawing Board' crowdfunding project will be a DC Suicide Squad Harley Quinn deluxe figure set. Backers can choose from four different levels, each offering different options and accessories for the base 7-inch Harley Quinn figure. "Sometimes the only way to stay sane is to go a little crazy" -Harley Quinn McFarlane Toys seeks to produce Harley Quinn 7" scale figure as portrayed in the 2016 DC film "Suicide Squad". With each subsequent tier, you can add additional accessories, The Joker 7" scale Suicide Squad figure and classic comic Harley Quinn 7" scale figure. All levels will include a Movie Mini Poster, Harley inspired Temporary Tattoos, Art Card, movie-inspired Backdrop, and logo base. The project starts at Level 1 with a Suicide Squad Harley Quinn complete with baseball bat, reolver, collector card, movie poster and temporary tattoos. Level 2 will include the same base figure with an extended range of accessories, now including two guns, the baseball bat and Quinn's iconic hammer. You also get four head options, extra hands, and extra arms and jacket piece to display her as both shirt and jacket versions. Level 3 is everything we get in Level 2 plus a 7-inch figure of The Joker in Tuxedo. And the full Level 4 version adds a second Classic Themed Harley Quinn figure into the Level 3 contents. Backers have until the 27th of October to back the level of their choice. Assuming successful backing, you will be charged at the end of the crowdfunding window with the sets themselves due to ship in about 6-months, so circa April or May 2026. While almost all of the Diamond Select products in production have been cancelled, there is at least one that was significantly along in the production process and has now been offered for sale, having started to arrive with retailers.
