- D23 Disney Elite Star Wars Exclusives
Star Wars fans attending D23 will be able to purchase a number of special Disney Elite 10" figures. Disney have taken the standard releases and repacked them in special double packs. There are some tweaks to each figure too. Leia is now in her Hoth gear, and is packed with Darth Vader Rey is in her "Jedi" outfit from the end of The Force Awakens, and comes packed with Kylo Ren Jyn Erso comes in her Eadu gear with helmet and poncho. She comes packed with Krennic. Each set will be sold at $79.95 at the event, and the sets limited to 1000 pieces. Each set also gets a certificate of authenticity. What is unclear at this time is whether these tweaked figures will be packed in the standard packaging and sold in Disney stores. It seems a lot of cost for revised outfits to then limit them to 1000 pieces.

- Spider-Man Homecoming - Coming soon from Mezco's One:12 Collective
It looks like Mezco are expanding their One:12 collective into the MCU. While movie figures are being released for DC's big screen appearances, this would be the first for Marvel with all other Marvel releases to date being comic based. Spider-Man would join their previously announced Netflix Daredevil in a wider MCU / TV universe. Can't wait 🤑

- Hasbro 3.75" Thor Ragnarok 2-packs
We have seen the 6" Marvel Legend offerings for Thor Ragnarok, now take a look at the 3.75" releases. In keeping with other recent Marvel movie's like Guardians and Spider-Man, there will be some 3.75" 2-packs for Thor Ragnarok Images of the first two show a movie based 2-pack of Thor and Hulk fro the Gladatorial encounter. There is then a comic based pack of The Executioner and Enchantress. The ETA on these is August 2017. Price TBC, but I would suspect a similar price to the single Legend figures - £22 / $20
- McFarlane announce Stranger Things 7" Action Figures of Hopper and Eleven
Todd McFarlane has officially announced the companies new 7" figures based on hit Netflix TV series, Stranger Things. The images of the first two figures have been circulating for a couple of weeks, but were marked as commercial use only - not for distribution. We now know direct from The Todd-Father than the first figures will be Chief Hopper and Eleven. These are being called Chapter One, with "something big" coming in Chapter two. The figures are 7" in size with limited articulation. Hopper will have 11 points of articulation, Eleven will ave 12. Unlike the Color Tops range, these figures will be released on vintage style cards - in keeping with the era of the show - and will feature the original McFarlane 1990's style logo. Using the Color Tops as a guide, we would expect these to come in around $20 in US, £18-£20 here in the UK. They should hit stores around November 2017. We would hope to see the actual figures at SDCC in a few weeks? Our good friends at Toys In the Attic are already taking pre-orders for the set at £33.99 + postage Stranger Things ARE COMING!!!! THIS FALL... McFarlane Toys ventures into the 'uʍop ǝpısdn' to bring you ACTION FIGURES from Netflix's hit series Stranger Things... CHAPTER ONE includes Chief Hopper and Eleven which you can see below... and who knows!?!? For CHAPTER TWO... something BIG might be coming. But that's all I'm giving you for now. Another COOL thing about this series is the retro packaging including the retro McFarlane Toys logo... which I know MANY of you have seen before on some of the first McFarlane Toys back in the 90's... (not that I am aging any of you, or myself, of course). Anyway, thought you good people would want to see it here first. Enjoy. TODD
- Three new Doctor Who 5.5" packs heading to B&M stores
It has been rumoured for a while that B&M would launch three new Doctor Who 5.5" Action Figure sets for Summer 2017. The Doctor Who site has now confirmed these with details direct from B&M. With no other retailer picking up the 5.5" inch figures, and the 3.75" versions pretty much cancelled, that leaves B&M as the sole supplier of Doctor Who figure collectibles. Fans were of course excited to find out what is coming. The most impressive Set is the Enemies Set which contains the Tomb of the Cyberman Cyber Controller - he was originally a Build A Figure. In the same set we get an Attack Cyberman, a figure that is technically new as it was previously released in a set with Peri and it came with dirty weathered paint job and removable mask. The third figure is a fairly "meh" Skorr the Sontaran - some fans had been hoping for a classic Sontaran pack in. The second set is a 9th Doctor Set. This contains the 9th Doctor in his leather jacket and possibly the blue T-shirt which was originally in the Dalek 2-pack wave. He comes with Rose, and sadly the rather akwardly posed 2006 Rose from the Battle Pack. There is then a grey suited Auton. The final set is the 4th Doctor Set. Here we get a dark brown long coated Doctor. This appears to be the Pyramids of Mars outfit completed with Smiling Head, but we need to see larger images. K9 is a grey classic version, and Leela is a repack from Invasion of Time with her hair down. No word on pricing. Last year these were £12.99 each. I suspect in line with recent wholesale price rises on figures we may see these at anything from £15 to £20. Stocks are apparently due soon. Let us know via Facebook or on here via Disquss if you find them in your local B&M store.
- Custom : The Vulture, Spider-Man Homecoming, Diamond Select 1/10 Scale
Marvel Cinematic Universe Vulture Marvel Select 7" scale Recipe Hasbro "Action Feature" Vulture WWE Create-a-Superstar Roman Reigns Special Forces Set Diamond Select Falcon Paints - Revell Aquacolor / Tamiya Spider-Man Homecoming will see Diamond release just one 7" figure, the titular Spider-Man in his Stark built Tech-Suit. With the primary villain, Vulture, being a design I really like - I set about making one in Select 7" scale to face off against Peter Parker With the three main parts assembled there is a bit of kit bashing needing to get the three figures to work together. The easy bit is the Falcon and the WWE figure. Falcon was boiled and the torso removed from the legs and the head & arms taken off. The rear part of Falcon's flight suit was taken off also - but that has been kept pending the next stage of this custom and to add Vulture's wings. The torso for Falcon already has a round socket on the bottom, and this needs extending slightly to accept the lower waist and legs from the WWE figure. Once these are attached, Falcon's belt was fixed onto the WWE waist to hide the slight gap between the two figures. The WWE figures comes with two arms, I used the dark grey ones for Vulture - but swapped out the hands with the metal arms. The two WWE arms were inserted into the Falcon socket. The torso needs heating up, and you have to trim a couple of mm off the end of the WWE arms. The head and feet are more complicated. The Vulture head does pop off the Hasbro figure easily enough, but it has a very wide fixing. I filled the helmet with epoxy putty, and let that set before re-drilling so it fits on Falcon's neck. For the feet I warmed up the Hasbro legs and carefully sliced off the two side claws and the one at the back. The WWE boots were shaved to the side to create a flat surface and the sliced off claws attached. I used some left over soft plastic material to add a couple of braces down each side and up the inner boot. With everything assembled, the Vulture then needs his fur collar. This was added in epoxy putty and then "fluffed" up to replicate fur. The torso and arms were painted a deep brown, and I left the original colouring on the straps from Falcon in place. The fur was painted cream. The shoulder pads and wrist gauntlets were done in silver and the straps in grey. I washed the jacket and the fur in a darker brown wash and finally a black wash. The fur was finished with a dry brush in a very light shade of cream. The trousers were done in a deep green, with grey strapping and silver kneed pads. These were also washed in a black wash to dirty them up. The clawed boots were undercoated, then done in silver. A final wash was applied here too. The helmet was done in deep grey with two side panels picked out in green. Metallic silver was added round the "nose" as well as the chin area and the two breathing tubes. I do like the green LED eyes on the Vulture from the movie. To try and get this to work I painted the visor matt black and added a bright silver spot and on top of this a green colour. The visor was then varnished with three layers of gloss clear varnish to add depth. Vulture fits in nicely with the other 7" Select figures, and the only issue is his current lack of wings. Update September 2017 We've finally given Vulture his wings. As suspected the best option for this 7" scale figure was the build-a-wing set that came with the Spider-Man Homecoming Wave of Marvel Legends. While costly, they do look superb on the Vulture. The wings come with a plug on the backpack, and all that was needed to make them compatable with the Vulture was to fill the cavity on the back of the Marvel Select Falcon torso with modelling putty (we used GW Greenstuff). Before it set we inserted the wing peg into the soft putty to make a socket. We then let the putty harden. The wings now slot in, and Vulture stands pretty well with the wings in place and is an impressive centrepiece of my display. Further images of the winged Vulture are added to the gallery below...
