You can order internationally, and for UK collectors expect the total to come out around £63 with $12 (£9.12) shipping added to base price. You will need to be mindful that the set may incur custom and import charges on arrival. These will include a base admin fee for most couriers plus the tax costs. The pre-order window remains open until Friday the 7th of August. Once closed NECA will produce the amount ordered and ship in November 2020. Following on from the first Carbonized Exclusives in 2019, three more figure were released in the Carbonized metallic paint finish and box in 2020 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. Alongside Carbonized Stormtrooper (reviewed here) were figures of Boba Fett and Darth Vader. Packaging 4/5 The 2020 Carbonized figures continue with the design principles laid out in 2019. The box is the same as the Phase 3 packaging, with the small addition of a circular panel cut into the window that confirms this as a Carbonized release. The box is presented in a metallic foil with two contrasting colours of glossy silver and a contrasting black for the Imperial Stormtrooper. This metallic finish makes the box very striking in terms of a look, and the shades and artwork do look very different and appear to change depending on the light. Being a 40th Anniversary release for The Empire Strikes Back a silver foil log sits on the top of the box. The 2019 Carbonized figures kept the numbering system from their corresponding general release, while these new 2020 figures do not and the metallic black side spine has the usual dotted box we associated with exclusives. Front and back carry the same Gregory Titus artwork, with the back also carrying a short piece of background text. "Stormtroopers are elite shock troopers fanatically loyal to the Empire and impossible to sway from the Imperial cause" Paint & Sculpt 3/5 Out of the box and our Carbonized Stormtrooper is visually impressive in metallic silver armour. The proportions and sculpt of the helmet are spot on as is the armour panels which overlay a dark black undersuit. The figure, as we will see in the articulation section, does suffer with bow legs and a tendency to lean when stood and that is quite visible on a lot of poses. The figure is essentially cast fully in black and the carbonized silver is painted on top. Ths does mean there are some areas of bleeding around the joints where the silver has strayed onto a part that should have stayed black. The only other paint app is a metallic blue on the cheeks of the helmet. The silver paint does carry some defects - an issue we had with the first batch of Carbonized figures. This includes some flecks where I can only assume the spray coat was touched up by hand. There are also issues with molding on both shoulder pauldrons with defects at the back of each of them. These will be factory errors and won't appear on all the figures. The Carbonized Stormtrooper uses the existing Stormtrooper sculpt that was originally released in 2014 and has been used on all Imperial Stormtrooper version since. You can see the leg issues on these comparison photos. Accessories 2/5 Our Trooper is armed with the same weapons as all previous Stormtrooper releases. Disappointingly, neither weapon gets a metallic paint job. All the other Carbonized figures to date have got a metallic treatment on the accessories. The E-11 blaster rifle is cast in a grey plastic with no paint apps at all. It is designed to fit in the right hand, where trigger finger slots into place. When not in use it can fit into the holster on the left hip. The D-20A rifle is also cast in the same grey plastic and fits into the right hand. It too can fit in the holster if needed, but it looks a bit odd sticking up so far towards the head. The Stormtrooper seems to have a slightly looser right hand which does see the trigger finger slipping quite often. And oddly the left hand is very stiff and tight making a two handed weapon pose a little tougher to get into position. You can see in this comparison that not only are the Carbonized weapons missing any metallic pit, they are actually less detailed than the general releases we've seen. The D-20A usually gets a silver dry brush to bring out the detail. And the E-11 more often than not has a silver panel on the barrel. Articulation 3/5 The Stormtrooper weighs in with 18 points of articulation. This is a couple more than standard as this is an older figure base and gets the bonus of having double joint elbows supported by a bicep swivel. This makes the lower arms very mobile and poseable with weapons posing etc, but the upper shoulders are not quite so lucky as they are blocked by the shoulder armour when you try to raise them. Head : Ball joint Pivot Neck Body : torso ball joint Arms : ball joint shoulder, bicep swivel, double joint elbow, wrist pivot Leg : ball joint hip, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, ankle rocker The legs too, as mentioned, are carried over from the older figure and are not quite right. They look bow-legged a lot of time and to get a stance you often have to bend the right knee. The knees and ankles are securely ratcheted, but there is an issue that the feet never seem to line up with the knees for a flat position pose. Summary The whole purpose of the Carbonized line is to enhance an existing figure with a metallic paint job that is not quite screen accurate, but is very visually striking. Silver for the Stormtrooper was probably one of the obvious choices, especially as Red had been done already with the First Order versions. And it looks OK, without looking too gaudy. It is a shame that the weaponry is shortchanged on the metallic paint job, and that the figure doesn't use the updated Stormtrooper body - but rather the old version with the bow legged issues. The box is gorgeous and changes from silver and black to almost sharp contrast black and white in certain lights. This, like most Carbonized figures, is one that will potentially look best kept in the box. I score it an above average 3 out of 5. The Icon Heroes 6 inch figures from The Karate Kid are getting closer, with this new image shared by Icon Heroes on Social Media. An image gallery has been shared for the SH Figuarts Avengers Endgame Final Battle Thor figure. Thor is depicted in his full armour from the Final Battle of Avengers Endgame. He will include two head options, or at least swap out face parts - one with normal eyes and another with the God of Thunder possessed eyes. Both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker will be included as will a load of lighting FX pieces that can attach to both the weapons and to Thor himself. The images depict two stands to display Thor shooting lightning from both weapons, it is not clear if these are included but we would assume so. Thor also includes a soft goods cape which appears to be internally wired to help with posing. He is due for a December 2020 release with preorders opening via the Tamashii Webstore only as he is exclusive to that outlet. A gallery of images for the SH Figuarts Avengers Endgame "Final Battle" Thanos have been released. Thanos is presented with his double edged weapon and what appears to be three head options. He will also include a standard right hand, and an alternative wearing the Nano Gauntlet. There are then two hand options for the Gauntlet, one clenched and one where the fingers are being clicked and on this version the Infinity Stones are missing. The set also comes with a large pipe for Thanos to sit on and a stand for his weapon. Final Battle Thanos is a Tamashii Webstore Exclusive and is a December 2020 release. "Once a heroic Jedi Knight, Darth Vader was seduced by the dark side of the Force, became a Sith Lord, and led the Empire's eradication of the Jedi Order" The figure is set against a gun metal silver backdrop, and while the combination of this and the deep blue do work, it is less of a contrast and Vader perhaps does not "pop" as much against the backdrop as say Boba Fett. Paint & Sculpt 5/5 Like all Carbonized releases, Vader is presented in a metallic finish. As opposed to going down the route of metallic black, Hasbro have chosen a deep metallic blue which is an homage to the earlier illustrations of Vader by Ralph McQuarrie that are done in this deep blue colour. To that end the colouring means more than perhaps it does on other Carbonized figures - and I suppose it is a pity that this wasn't a full on Ralph McQuarrie concept Vader figure. The figure uses the existing Vader sculpt which has a well proportioned helmet and body, and the height is sufficiently scaled so Vader towers over the other 6 inch figures. Most of the figure is simply cast in the metallic blue, with paint work sparse and added only around the chest box, shoulder armour, belt and a touch on the mouthpiece of the mask. Being metallic in finish, the armour does take on a life of its own under various lighting and is much more visual than the usual dull black. Even though it is a stylised finish, it is sympathetic enough to work in a display with other more accurately coloured figures - it simply looks like Vader under some blue lighting. The soft goods are well done and soft enough to flow and hang naturally as both the skirts and cape of Vader. There may arguably be a bit too much of the cape when gathered up. I do also wonder if the addition of a posing wire in the cape would have taken Vader to another level altogether for display. As mentioned, this is not so much a new figure as a revised version of the Darth Vader released in 2017 for A New Hope. This new 2020 version has seen the chest box updated to that seen in Empire, and the cloak has now been set under the shoulder armour and not over it. The Empire version will be released in standard colours towards the end of 2020. Accessories 3/5 Vader is packed with his lightsaber which has also been recoloured, the black arts now moving to a metallic blue. Like all Black Series sabers, a removable blade is included and this slots into the hilt via a socket at the emitter end. The fit is not overly snug and the blade can look k like it is leaning or bent, mine also arrived misshapen which also doesn't help the overall look. This is the same saber hilt as the previous Vader release. The blade does seem to have been shortened slightly on this 2020 release. We are still waiting on a Darth Vader release with Force Choke swap out hand... The hands fitted work OK with the left hand looking like a force pinch, but a full on force choke or push hand would have been brilliant. Articulation 4/5 Lord Vader has a total of 16 points of articulation, a standard set for the Black Series. Head : ball joint with pivot Body : waist ball joint Arms : ball joint shoulder, single rotating elbow, writ pivot Legs : ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double joint knees, ankle rockers All the joints work extremely well, even with Vader's armour configuration. The shoulders raise fully with the shoulder pauldrons withdrawing under the torso piece. The elbows, despite being a single joint, bend to well past 90 degrees for some impressive gesturing and light saber poses. Vader can knee and sit with double joint s built in to the knees behind the armour of the boots. The hips do feel a bit loose, an issue with the original Vader figures, and with his height and weight Vader can slide off into the splits with some poses. Summary As an Amazon Exclusive, the initial problem with Carbonized Vader is getting hold of him and getting hold of him in a mint box if you wish to keep him boxed. And I suspect may collectors will be retaining the Carbonized Collection boxed on display. As a figure he is well sculpted, well articulated and with soft goods that work well with the scale. The saber blade has some issues arriving warped and not fitting too securely into the hilt. And I am still waiting for Vader to get some alternative hand options - particularly the force choke. I score the Carbonized Darth Vader a 4 out of 5. The first Giant Man MCU figure was released in 2016 as a Build-a-Figure in the Captain America Civil War wave. 3 years later, Hasbro re-released him in their Deluxe format complete with some minor tweaks. Packaging 4/5 Packaging such a tall figure in the existing packaging for Marvel Legends was always going to be difficult, but Hasbro have come up with a novel pose for Giant Man - having him kneeling in the window as though supporting the plane wing like we see i the movie. This allows the standard Deluxe Legends box to be utilised with scooped sides. The figure is badged under Captain America Civil War with the Giant Man name plate - even though this name was never used n screen. The side artwork is a little different to normal, with a transforming Ant-Man in various stages. This side art is simply reversed and repeated on the other side. The back of the box shows the top half of the figure alongside a short piece of background text. "Scott Lang goes giant-sized to join Captain America in battle against other heroes" GIant Man slides out of either side panel, and is sat into a clear plastic tray. This tray then sits in the card surround that also creates the backing for the figure. For Giant Man this is a blue tinged shot of the Airport. Paint & Sculpt 4/5 The figure stands at 10 inches (250mm) tall, and while this is big vs other Legends figures it is certainly not the heights the figure reaches in the movie. The sculpt of the helmet is crisp and well executed, and with the larger scale we get more detail including translucent red lenses to the helmet with painted eyes and face underneath. The costume detail is simply painted in variations of red and grey with trims of silver and some blue panels painted here and there. The darker grey is not quite dark enough but everything is neat and tidy including the silver trims. When you compare our new Giant Man to the 2016 BAF release you will see some paint differences. The helmet is a big change from the original dirty gun metal to a brighter silver. The grey n the outfit is slightly darker and the red a touch less glossy. There is a physical change in the boots, with the lips that sat on the BAF model now removed completely. Accessories N/A Giant Man comes with no accessories. It would have been nice to have included an alternativ set of hands in this set so instead of being restricted to clenched fists we have an option of some gripping hands to grapple with War Machine or hold up Spider-Man. Articulation 5/5 Despite his size, Giant Man is pretty agile with 19 points of articulation, the same as most male legends bucks in 6 inch scale. Head : ball joint pivot neck Body : T-joint ab crunch, waist rotation Arms : ball jointed shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, pivot wrists Legs : ball jointed hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, ankle rockers Even in super size the figure can kneel - as seen in the packaging - as well as get into some pretty good fighting and action poses. It is just a shame he doesn't have a more open gripping/holding hand to grab hold of War Machine as we see in the Airport in Civil War. Like the BAF the figure does have some wobble in the legs and arms and the hip joints feel like they will be an issue overtime to hold up such a large figure. But for now he stands fine and is well balanced in a number of poses. Summary If you didn't get the original BAF Giant Man, then this single release is a much easier avenue to add him to your Civil War line up. If you did get the original, then this new version does not offer anything vastly different to warrant an update - unless of course you want a 2nd version for an Endgame scene. Paint is neat and tidy, articulation is good for a figure of this size and the packaging is clever and will work for MIB collectors. The one issue I do have is the lack of any alternative hands, something I feel a standalone release could have addressed. After a lot of issues recently with the availability of their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie figures at Walmart, NECA have announced changes for the next release of a 2-pack of Tokka and Rahzar from TMNT 2 : Secret of the Ooze. Instead of heading to Walmart, Tokka and Rahzar will now be sold via the NECA store for both US and International customers. They will go up for pre-order on the 31st July 2020 and the presale will run for one week until the 7th of August 2020. NECA will then produce the amount of figures pre-ordered for a November 2020 release, meaning no-one loses out as long as they place their pre-order in the window. Tokka and Rahzar are likely to retail for $70, that will covert to around £54 here in the UK with international shipping on top. To accompany this news, NECA also released a new gallery of images for the set. They also confirmed the Super Shredder from the same film, which is still heading to Walmart, will also be listed on NECA Store soon after Tokka and Rahzar, but he isnt going to be made to order - but they have upped the production quantity. Playmates have held the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles master licence since the start of the TMNT phenomenon, and this year they are returning to that early comic book era as well as the Collectors arena with their new Ninja Elite figures. The Ninja Elite series will stand 6 inches tall and are reported as having 34 points of articulation. The line will launch with all four Turtles, as depicted in the early Mirage comics by Eastman and Laird. As seen in the early comics, each turtle will feature a red bandana and they will come with their specific weapons. They will share the same body, but the heads are sculpted with different expressions. Following on from the first Carbonized Exclusives in 2019, three more figure were released in the Carbonized metallic paint finish and box in 2020 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. Alongside Carbonized Boba Fett (reviewed here) were figures of Darth Vader and an Imperial Stormtrooper. Packaging 4/5 The 2020 Carbonized figures continue with the design principles laid out in 2019. The box is the same as the Phase 3 packaging, with the small addition of a circular panel cut into the window that confirms this as a Carbonized release. The box is presented in a metallic foil with two contrasting colours of green and gold for Boba Fett. This metallic finish makes the box very striking in terms of a look, and the shades and artwork do look very different and appear to change depending on the light. Being a 40th Anniversary release for The Empire Strikes Back a silver foil log sits on the top of the box. The 2019 Carbonized figures kept the numbering system from their corresponding general release, while these new 2020 figures do not and the side spine has the usual dotted box we associated with exclusives. Front and back carry the same Gregory Titus artwork, with the back also carrying a short piece of background text "With his customized Mandalorian armor, deadly weaponry, and silent demeanor, Boba Fett was one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy" Upon opening the box, from either top or bottom flap, the figure slides out in its inner tray and backing gold metallic backing card. It is worth noting that Boba's cape has been folded tight and slid in with his left leg rather than being placed through a slot in the plastic tray. This makes the cape very misshapen on arrival and it will need some teasing to sit right. Paint & Sculpt 4/5 Carbonized Boba Fett uses the same 2013 sculpt as all the other Boba releases to date. This is no a bad thing considering the original sculpt still looks fantastic despite its age. The helmet carries the dent we see on the prop, along with the rangefinder - which sadly cannot be adjusted. The paint is fully metallic across the figure with the green given a metallic sheen, the grey amended to a silver finish and the browns and bronzes also now metallic. The decals are also given a once over with the chest logo much clearer than the original release. Even the Wookiee braids and Jet Pack are given a metallic finish. They've still added scratched paint damage on the helmet and chest, which means while he is metallic and shiny - Boba still looks worn and battle damaged. There are no obvious paint defects or the peeling issues we saw on the 2019 Carbonized figures. Side by side with the General version (mine is the 2013 original) you can see the metallic upgrades to the paint and while I know this is stylised piece - it would not look totally out of place alongside the standard figures. I am not overly keen on the cape due to the way it has been packed, and it also arrives freyed. It is nice to see however they've also given the cloak a metallic finish to further enhance the carbonized look Accessories 4/5 Boba is armed with his EE-3 Carbine Rifle, which is the same as the original releases and specific to The Empire Strikes Back with the slimmer barrel. It gets a metallic sheen on the grip and but does lose some silver drybrushing on the barrel which is left as black. The EE-3 fits into either hand - both have trigger fingers and trips - and it can als be held with a two handed poses. Boba also has his Sacros K-11 Disintegrator Pistol, which is a more simplistic cast and again the same as the original version. The brown is updated to the metallic finish. Again, the K-11 can fit in either hand. And it can also slot into the working holster on Boba's right hand side. Articulation 4/5 Boba Fett has the usual set of 16 points of articulation. Each joint is tight and secure, with the only blocage coming at the shoulders as you raise the arm and find the shoulder pauldron starts to block so far up. Head : ball joint with pivot Body : waist ball joint Arms : ball joint shoulder, single rotating elbow, writ pivot Legs : ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double joint knees, ankle rockers Boba is easy to stand and pose and the metallic finish does not seem to be suffering in anyway as the joints are moved. Summary While the Carbonized line as a whole may be seen as buying the same figures again, it has to be said that the Carbonized Boba Fett is a very well executed repaint and looks quite special in hand - both in the box and out of it. The figure was a good sculpt to start with, and has good articulation. The addition of the metallic paint work makes the armour stand out even more and as a display piece Boba Fett is a fine addition to a collection As always with Fett availability will be an issue due to his popularity. The box will also be more prone to damage in transit and on display, so be mindful if you are planning on keeping this mint in the box. There are thankfully no issues at this stage with chipping/flaking metallic paint work. The only issue is really how they packed that cape. I score Carbonized Boba Fett a 4 out of 5.
