Aurra Sing made her first Star Wars appearance in 1999 in a fleeting shot on Tatooine during the Pod Race scenes. Like many background characters, Sing would see her traits and backstory fleshed out in the Expanded Universe and in the animated Clone Wars series where she works with the likes of Bossk and the young Boba Fett. Aurra Sing's first 6-inch Black Series figure was released in late 2021 as part of the 5th general wave of Galaxy Collection figures. Rather than join the Phantom Menace collection, Sing was placed under The Clone Wars series and was numbered 08 in the collection following on from Asajj Ventress, with her artwork connecting directly to the other previous releases for a larger montage. This artwork is repeated on the back of the box alongside a short bio. "A feared bounty hunter known for her chalk-white skin and built-in comm-link antenna, Aurra Sing was an expert sniper and trained assassin who would work for anyone who paid her" Aurra Sing looks, at first glance, as a brand new figure. In reality, she uses a handful of pieces from the Last Jedi release of Vice Admiral Holdo including the midriff and upper legs. Added to the basic orange jumpsuit is a brown rubbery plastic vest - which can be removed - as well as a twin holster belt complete with chains and thigh straps. While the orange suit is perhaps too bright considering Aurra's line of work and would benefit from some weathering, the painted detail on the vest and belt are neat and tidy and pretty intricate. While Aurra Sing has been placed under the Clone Wars banner, Hasbro seems to have got very close to the likeness of the original Phantom Menace actor, Michonne Bourriague. The chalky skin tone is haunting and over this, we have photo-real face printing which focuses the eyes particularly including the heavy shadowing in the sockets - again as seen in The Phantom Menace and not the full black strip we see in some of the Clone Wars appearances. The antenna is a little thick but that is understandable to ensure it is not easily snapped or bent. The hairpiece, like the outfit, is missing a wash to bring out the detail but we do get painted beads on the braid down either side. Aurra Sing is armed with a pair of twin DX-13 blasters, cast in black plastic with no other paint application. Each pistol comes with two triggers, and both of Aurra's hands are engineered with two flexible trigger fingers that slot into place to wield the weapons with both left and right hands. When not in use the blasters can be slipped into the holsters on the belt. The other weapon is the Czerka Adventurer slugthrower rifle, the long sniper rifle seen in The Phantom Menace and used again in some of The Clone Wars stories. The weapon is the correct size, standing taller than Aurra herself. It is cast in a light grey plastic with brown paint added to the stock and grip. The weapon should include much darker sections to add to the realism and unfortunately without this, the rifle does look cheap. It is not helped by the strap, a rubbery plastic piece that is not permanently connected to the rifle but that is designed to clip into place. This strap is also a light grey and should be darker in colour. Connecting the strap is a bit of trial and error, but there are two sections of the rifle engineered to take these soft clips as seen in the images below. Once engaged these do hold in place and allow the slug thrower to be shoulder slung. Aurra Sing has 18 points of articulation, including two boot swivels where the new boots have been connected to the Holdo lower legs. The articulation inherited from Holdo includes double-jointed knees which are not as aesthetic as the newer knee joints but give Aurra a great deal of flexibility in posing. The same is true of the arms, which are a single joint but unencumbered by any armour or robes. All of Aurra's joints work well and she has a good scope of posing options with or without her weaponry. Aurra Sing is a great addition to the Black Series and as with most aliens is very well executed. While she is boxed as a Clone Wars release she poses perfectly well in a Phanom Menace display or even in potential head-cannon setups such as Jabba's Palace with the other Bounty Hunters, or facing off against Tobias Beckett. The figure is let down only by paint apps, She would have been bordering on spectacular with weathering on her clothing, a wash on her hair and a darker accurate paint job on the slug thrower. Deco aside, the sculpt and articulation are excellent and for fans of the Prequels or the Clone Wars, she is a recommended purchase. The McFarlane Gotham Knights wave of figures from the upcoming Warner Bros game have gone up for preorder, which has provided us with a full gallery of images of each figure and details of the release. Robin will come with his staff, while Nightwing has a pair of Escrima sticks and a holster on his back to stow them in. Bargirl has a Tonfa baton and Red Hood a pair of alternative hands. All four figures come with an art card and a circular display stand. We can expect the figures to ship in January of 2022. This week's 'Bring Home the Bounty' on starwars.com has revealed the next Gaming Greats release in the Star Wars Black Series. The Senate Guard is a direct reuse of the existing Imperial Guards with blue and black armour. It is taken from The Force Unleashed video game. There is sadly no cloak included which would have allowed this to double up as a Prequel release, albeit without the crested helmet. The guard will wield the dual staff that originally came with the Shadow Guard. Preorders will open on the 1st of December, with the figure exclusive to Gamestop in the US and sold via the Fan Channel route to Hasbro Pulse, and the independent stockists in the UK and elsewhere globally. The shipping estimates do vary from as early as the 31st January 2022 at Hasbro Pulse UK through to August 2022 at other independent stockists. Hasbro have been relatively quiet since their big reveal for the HasLab Rancor final stretch goals and painted sample. Fans were hugely disappointed with the overall project and began voting with their wallets with the backing numbers tumbling backward by nearly 500 backers. As we enter the final week for backing the Rancor, Hasbro has reached out on Instagram to adjust the Rancor offering - confirming that they will add Malakili, the Rancor Keeper, to the base offering if the project is backed at 9000 units. He will be un-carded in the box but will feature his gaffi stick. There are no images as yet as the figure is being developed now with Hasbro promising to share images when they are ready. It will be interesting to see if this can push the Rancor over the line or if it's too little, too late. We really appreciate all the feedback we’ve received in an effort to make the HasLab Rancor the best possible dream product. With that, we realize we can't leave the most dangerous creature, the rancor, roaming the galaxy without its keeper. We will be adding a fully newly-tooled Star Wars: The Black Series Malakili figure to the base offering, funding at 9K units. It has been 6-years since we've had a movie Robocop release from NECA, but we can now look forward to two new releases in 2022 to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the original movie. The Hasbro 6 inch scale Overwatch single figures are turning up at B&M stores in the UK. They are priced at £9.99 each, half the original RRP. The store I visited had three characters as seen below. Nothing much else of note. The McFarlane Cyberpunk figures continue to hang about at their £8 price. None of the new Winter 2021 Doctor Who sets as yet, hope these do make it for Christmas.

The last weekend of November saw San Diego host SDCC Special Edition, a slimmed-down version of the full SDCC event that has been postponed for the past 2 summers. While most major exhibitors were absent from the show, there was a presence from Bluefin Brands who were showcasing products from their import partners, including Storm Collectibles. Fans of Mortal Kombat can look forward to a Storm 1/12 Liu Kang in the future and a new Sub-Zero. There will also be new figures for Kengan Ashura including Kure Raian and Ohma Tokita. King of Fighters had a display of their new Orochi figure and a prototype Blue Mary. Golden Axe will also continue its slow expansion of characters with the planned addition of Bad Brother. And Tekken will see releases of Jin Kengan in standard and Devil form. An absolute existence that reigns at the top as the head of the Orochi’s clan. The mental energy collected by Orochi Hakkesshu has been revived in this world through the body of Chris. Hasbro has confirmed a new 6-inch scale two-pack from the new Ghostbusters Afterlife movie. The set rounds off the new foursome with the release of Phoebe who will come with a Proton Pack with a removable cover, PKE meter, and Chess Piece. The spectral Egon is cast in translucent plastic and comes with a jar of spores & fungus. The set is titled "The Family That Busts Together" The set is also going to be used as a vehicle to correct the Terror Dog issue with both BAF and the Exclusive release of the Terror Dogs both being Vinz Clortho the Keymaster. A second head is included in this set to swap out and create Zuul the Gatekeeper. The pack is exclusive to Target in the US and has already been found on shelves. McFarlane has released this new image of the 2nd wave of their 6-inch scale DC Retro figures from the Batman 1966 TV show. The three figures see the debut for The Riddler as well as tweaked versions of Batman & The Joker in swimshorts. 2021 was the year the MCU expanded beyond the movie format and into serial TV shows via the Disney+ streaming service. A Marvel Legends wave arrived in the Summer of 2021 to bring us figures from the first three Disney+ MCU shows with new figures from WandaVision, The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, and Loki. Sam Wilson in his Captain America suit was part of the wave along with figures of Bucky Barnes, Colonel Zemo, and John Walker as US Agent. As Sam's new wingsuit was too large to include in a standard Legends release, Hasbro mirrored the format they followed for the MCU Vulture and packed the wingsuit as the build-a-figure for the wave. The Disney+ wave used the standard packaging with colour accents and backing cards adjusted for each of the three properties. The Falcon & Winter Soldier releases used a red character name box, and grey insert with an included Shield logo and a cracked plaster wall. "Donning a brand new suit and wings from Wakanda, Sam Wilson proudly takes on the mantle, ready to unite people as the world's new Captain America" Sam is a brand new Marvel Legends figure and is a pretty accurate recreation of the Wakandan suit that the new Captain America wears in the Series finale. We have the blue and white suit where the majority of the parts are cast in the base blue with the white painted over. This does lead to some murky areas around the edges or where the white paint is not applied fully - the trim on the legs and shoulders are the worse parts affected. Other paint detail is added with silver on the boots and central chest star and stripes, and there is a use of bright red on the stomach section, arm gauntlets, and also on the boots. These are all applied neatly. The head sculpt is a good likeness to Anthony Mackie, albeit with the eyes covered with the red lensed goggles which are sadly not removable. Like the other white elements of the costume, the white on the head is painted over the darker base colour and again suffers from some parts that are darker and where the base colour does show through. If you are simply using the Sam figure without the wingsuit, then the set includes the folded backpack that is cast in silver with some darker grey silver trim. It sits into a hole on the back of the figure and sits snugly in place. Sam comes with the Captain America shield, an MCU accessory that has been in circulation for some time. It uses the twin straps on the back for attaching it to Sam's forearms rather than the peg/clip format. This is more realistic to the prop, but without a peg you cant mount the shield on Sam's back in place of the wingsuit piece, or on the wingsuit itself. The shield is bright red with silver trim and a more muted blue painted piece in the centre which shows signs of paint bleeding. It fits perfectly onto Sam's forearm and holds securely in place. Moving onto the wingsuit BAF and this is assembled from parts included in the other 6 figures in the wave - Sam himself does not come with any BAF parts. Assembly is not overly difficult, you need to follow the numbered guide on the back of any of the Disney+ wave boxes as some of the parts can be placed the wrong way round which looks OK but does alter the hinges of the suit and how it folds and articulates. The wings are supported on a clear sweeping stand that comes with the Loki figure and allows the suit to be displayed on its own if that floats your boat. The majority of the parts are cast in a silver base plastic with painted blue and red on the inner segments of the panels. Both the blue and red are metallic in their finish to match the silver. Also included in the Loki figure with the stand is a Red Wing piece that has its own smaller flight stand and can be positioned to sit hovering over Sam's shoulder. The Red Wing piece is detailed and painted in line with the wings, but the ball joint is tricky to engage and the piece falls off so easily I have already discarded it to the spare accessory box. The wings attach to Sam in the same way the standard backpack does, via a single peg in the centre of Sam's back. The fit is snug and holds well enough, although the provided stand isn't a flight stand, and simply holds the wings for you with Sam in a standing position. Aftermarket flight stands can be used to provide a flying pose but really should have been included in the set. The wings are articulated in several hinged positions allowing the wings to be swept back or forward in-flight poses. You can even recreate the shielding pose by kneeling Sam down and wrapping the wings around him for protection. Sam himself is articulated with 20 points of articulation and he has a full range of motion including the ability to kneel as we saw above as well as more dynamic action stances and in-flight poses. All in all, our new Captain America is a very solid release with just a handful of paint niggles. It looks and articulates really well, and the wingsuit is well designed to complement and work with the figure. The issue is one of format of release, with the BAF format making it quite expensive unless you are collecting all the Disney+ figures. Sam may have been better as a Deluxe release with the wingsuit - something I am sure we will see in the future - and the unmasked head we are getting in the Captain America 2-pack in early 2022.
