Following their reveal at Star Wars Celebration in April, two of the new Jazwares Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron lines have opened for a May the 4th pre-order. The AT-AT from Hoth will feature lights & sounds and comes with a speeder bike and mini-figures of General Veers, an AT-AT Pilot, two Snowtroopers, and Luke Skywalker in his Hoth Snowspeeder gear. We then have the new Battlepack 'Battle of Coruscant' that comes with both Anakin & Obi-Wan's Jedi Interceptors as well as a pair of CIS Vulture Droids. The set will include mini-figures of Anakin, Obi-Wan, and two B1 Battle Droids. The set also features an alternative pair of legs for the Vulture Droids allowing them to be displayed in either flying, or walking mode. These two sets are Target exclusives in the US and have a July 2023 release date. NECA's new Feral Predator from the 2022 Predator movie, Prey, has been revealed in all its glory ahead of a September 2023 release. The figure features a head with swap-out jaw pieces and a removable mask. There are also a large selection of alternative hands. Weaponry includes spear gun, spears, and shields. The figure will be packed in the Ultimate format box with the opening front cover to reveal the figure within - there are no boxed images supplied as yet. On the eve of Star War Day 2023, Hasbro hosted a May the 4th themed Star Wars Fan First Livestream, revealing a raft of new figures - all of which are live for pre-order as of May 4th. There are a number of new exclusives to look forward to, starting with a new Fives ARC Trooper figure from The Clone Wars. He wasn't mentioned in the live stream itself, but was included in the UK press release and is a UK Fan Channel exclusive - and potentially a retailer exclusive in the US, possibly Walmart as is Jesse. Fives is lited as an Autumn 2023 release. The Gaming Greats line will then expand further with the official reveals of two figures previously announced via the Pipeline reveals. General Grievous will be a Battle Damaged variant based on the Battlefront video games and comes complete with all four light sabers. While Darth Malgus is plucked from the Old Republic and features his lightsaber and removable breathing mask. Malgus will be released in the Autumn and is a general Fan Channel release. Grievous will arrive in Winter 2023 and is a Gamestop US exclusive, and sold via the Fan Channel in the UK and other territories. The reveals then moved onto general releases with confirmation that the recently released Return of the Jedi 40th Anniversary figures of Wicket and Chewbacca will be repacked into the main Galaxy Collection as part of the ROTJ collection. They are joined in a wave by three new Clone Wars figures. We have a Magna Guard, a generic Mark II Clone Trooper with a removable helmet, and a new Padawan Ahsoka Tano figure that does seem to have taken some inspiration in sculpting from a younger Rosario Dawson. These five new figures are Winter 2023 releases and we think they will be part of Wave 12 of the Galaxy Collection alongside the previously announced Omega from Bad Batch (awaiting confirmation). The final figure fully revealed was the new Mandalorian, again as promised via pipeline announcements. He is based on his Book of Boba Fett appearance on the Glavis Ringworld so will come in BOBF packaging. He includes a jetpack, knife, dark saber, and blaster. He will also feature a soft goods robe. He is confirmed as being the 4th figure in the Book of Boba Fett themed Wave (Wave 14 we think) and will arrive in Spring 2024 along with the Pyke Soldier, Tusken Raider Chieftain, and Cad Bane There was also a Black Series roleplay reveal, Axe Woves Mandalorian helmet coming Winter 2023. As always the stream finished with some pipeline news. There will be another Wave of Archive figures (Wave 8) and this will include re-releases for Bo-Katan Kryze, Luke X-Wing Pilot, Darth Vader from A New Hope, and an Imperial Stormtrooper using the newer body. We know from the panel that Darth Vader will get some tweaks to make him more screen accurate. There were then general pipeline reveals with a repack confirmed for Paz Viszla, and Greef Karga's R4 unit as seen in The Mandalorian - this will be a Walmart exclusive. The Phantom Menace will also get some more figures with little Anakin and an Episode I Padme - we assume this is the Theed Palace battle figure based on the image they used. On the eve of Star War Day 2023, Hasbro hosted a May the 4th themed Star Wars Fan First Livestream, revealing a raft of new figures - all of which are live for pre-order as of May 4th. There were three new Vintage Collection reveals, starting with a surprise announcement of a two pack of Wicket and Kneesa from the Ewoks 1980's animated series. Like the other Vintage Collection figures, Wicket and Kneesa will be packed on individual Vintage-inspired cards from the Ewok line and include collector coins like the originals. They are a Spring 2024 release. There is a new Book of Boba Fett-inspired set of Luke Skywalker from his new Jedi Academy and Grogu. The set includes two lightsabers, Grogu's Beskar vest, a backpack for Luke and some levitating frogs complete with stand. The set is a Target US exclusive, available via the Fan Channel in the UK. The next release from Hasbro's Marvel Legends line of figures celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Avengers is the two-pack of Thor and The Destroyer. The set features an updated Thor figure with two head options, both heads are bearded and feature Thor's winged helmet, with the alternative head featuring a visor. Thor also comes with an alternative hand and Mjolnir. The Destroyer stands 9 inches tall and comes with two sets of hands. The packaging follows the usual shape of a Marvel Legends release but with a white base colour and use of the 60th Anniversary 'Beyond Earth's Mightiest' logo. "Teeka, if you're gonna steal my parts and sell them back to me, could you at least clean them first as a courtesy?" The Jawa, Teeka, from the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series, was released in 2022 and was the 5th release in the Obi-Wan series within the Galaxy Collection. In the US Teeka was a Target Exclusive, and here in the UK she was initially exclusive to Smyths Toys - but then got a wider release in early 2023 as part of the large volume of discounted Hasbro products that landed in Game stores. The Obi-Wan Kenobi packaging uses the blue accent colour on the usual black box with the angled side that contains an illustration of Teeka that then lines up with the figures on either side (Fifth Brother & Ben Kenobi from Tibidon Station) to create a wider montage for those that keep their figures in the box or retain the box for display. Teeka landed just before the implementation of plastic-free packaging so retains the window. Teeka represented a relatively easy figure for Hasbro to execute for the Kenobi series, using the existing Jawa body and simply adding a new waistcoat sleeve piece. The Jawa body was always a strong sculpt in the 6-inch scale with the textured robes with their torn and tattered sleeves. The hood is an individual piece to allow the head articulation to work and beneath this the head is sculpted as though wrapped in black bandages with a pair of gold painted eyes. The new waistcoat piece is an all-in-one item including the bandoleer so can't be removed unless you take off Teeka’s arms. This is cast in a sandy finish with the dark brown and silver elements of the strap and pouches painted over the top. There is very little other paintwork of note on the figure, with just the hint of weathering at the sleeves and the lower robes with a slightly darker brown applied over the textured robes to dirty them up. Despite the smaller stature, Teeka comes with 16-points of articulation although much of it is restricted behind the Jawa robes. There is sufficient arm movement and as mentioned the head & hood can rotate with a further swivel ability at the hips. The legs do enough to keep Teeka standing with the knee, thigh and hip articulation essentially going unused. Accessories include the usual Jawa weapon of choice, the Ion blaster. This is cast in a grey plastic with some additional paint apps to add some brushed silver/metallic effects over the top. The small hands of the Jawa’s have always been problematic for wielding any weapons and that hasn't been fixed here. The arms are also held back from hitting any two-handed pose, so the Ion blaster poses are all around Teeka holding it rather than aiming it. Teeka also comes with two scrap parts that are both new to the range. There is a smaller piece that looks like a thruster or a lamp of sorts, and a larger bundle that looks to include wound trunking among other parts. Both these items are detailed well enough, cast in a grey plastic and with paint apps added to pick out certain components. The smaller item can be held in the hands, while the promo images show Teeka holding the larger bundle under one arm. The latter pose is very tricky to achieve with the arm articulation and for my photo I cheated and used some tac to hold the piece in place. On first release Teeka, as an exclusive, was an eye-watering £27.99 here in the UK. The Game store reductions saw him drop to circa £15 in most places, and even going under a tenner on final clearance. As a minimal character that only shares a small amount of screentime with Obi-Wan, I can see why most collectors (including myself) left him on the shelves at the RRP and Hasbro are going to have to rethink that pricing strategy for exclusives of this nature. I was much happier to buy Teeka at the cheaper price and £20 or less feels OK to give some background character options to the Obi-Wan Kenobi collection. There is very little to criticise on the figure outside of the pricing - the tweaked parts give him individuality while the new scrap pieces are nice for dioramas even if you can't get Teeka to hold them. “I have come for the bounty on this Wookiee” The original Leia in her Boushh disguise from Jabba’s Palace was originally released in 2015. This predated the use of photo-real paint apps for faces and there was also criticism at the time over the height of the figure which stood much taller than the other Leia’s of the time. In 2022 the figure was selected for a re-release as part of the carded Archive series and Hasbro took the opportunity to rectify both of these issues. The Archive card back remains as it has always been since launch with a shaped card back in black with a grey/silver logo and line art and a panel of the same grey to act as backing for the figure. The original Gregory Titus artwork is retained via an insert in the blister and repeated again round the back where we also get a bit of a history lesson on the original figure release as well as an image of the packaging in 2015. The tweaked version of Leia as Boushh immediately feels better in hand and that is down to some reworking of the proportions by Hasbro - shortening the legs to give the figure a better scale and also then improving the overall aesthetics with the first figure always looking a bit too long in said leg department. Everything else on the body remains as was with a variety of layers applied over a base body with chest armour, a bandoleer and belt and a skirt piece. Everything across the Bounty Hunter costume is well coloured with additional paintwork applied as needed although there is limited detail in that regard, just a few bits of gold on the bandoleer ammunition. There is a plug-in backpack, complete with applied decals of Aurobesh (or similar), that arrives separately in the packaging and the soft goods cape is retained. This cape remains problematic as it still fails to sit naturally against the body having been made from a more robust cloth than what we are seeing on more modern figures. The way the new one is stitched and then packed doesn't allow the fold we did see on the original so the cape does stick out considerably and will require some training to get a natural look for display. The head has definitely been tweaked, if not replaced completely. It is now a slimmer shape and with the strands of hair on either side of the face more delicate. The addition of photo-real decor makes this an excellent likeness to Carrie Fisher from 1983 and includes more natural eyes, better colouring on the lips and some blusher to the cheeks. A huge improvement and just what the Archive Series can do for these older releases. The figure still includes a removable helmet and this is a very tight fit like the first release, so watch out for paint rub. It is made of a softer plastic and cast in dark brown with added paintwork for the lighter brown body of the helmet, metal grill and component parts and the green reflective visor. The other accessories include the shock-blade lance which is cast in a base grey colour and is otherwise lacking in any other paint apps despite the crisp detail of the sculpt. It fits in either - or both hands. The final accessory is the Thermal Detonator which is again detailed considering the scale. It will balance on either hand, but can't be held as such and if you are wanting to have Leia as Boussh on display holding Jabba to ransom with this device I would use some Blu-Tac or similar to hold it in place. Articulation is of its time with 16 points of articulation including the now dated double jointed and very visible knee joints. Leia articulates well enough although the skirt piece prevents some of the leg motion at the hips. Everything works as it should, with the only articulation issue being the same ankle rocker issue that impacted the first figure. For some reason the feet won't bend far enough forward so Boushh always feels like she is rocking back on her heels - add to this the backpack and cape and she becomes back-heavy and very prone to falling backwards. Leia as Boushh is a perfect example of how the Archive series should work. It takes an existing figure and improves it by applying the face print decor as a minimum, but also tweaking the things that were not quite right the first time round. Using different packaging also allows collectors to differentiate completely between both versions and those collectors who value all variants will not see their original figure devalued. With the upcoming 40th Anniversary release of Chewbacca with chains from Jabba’s Palace, this updated Leia as Boushh is going to look even better once the two are paired up.
