NECA have now shared a wider gallery of images for the figure. The Patrol Bot features two heads, extra hands, sword, sheath, laser, and a Mouser. It is also a late August 2023 release. Revealed last week on the BestBuy website, 'The Wanderer' Michelangelo from the Mirage Comic series will feature alternative hands and a full set of TMNT weaponry including twin Katana with Sheaths, Spear, Nun-Chucks, and a Kama. The Wanderer is a US BestBuy Exclusive and according to their website, the pre-orders will release at the end of August 2023. NECA have also confirmed the figures will be available on the shelf in stores in October 2023. The new Hasbro Indiana Jones Adventure Series is taking a different approach with their ‘Build-a’ format and rather than collecting parts for a new figure as we see with Marvel Legends, the Indiana Jones Adventure Series waves will allow you to collect parts for an Artifact from the Indiana Jones film series. The first wave from Spring 2023 focuses on Raiders of the Lost Ark, and across the five releases in Wave 1, you can collect parts for the Ark of the Covenant. The assembly instructions for the Ark are actually held in the inner cardboard trays of each figure, and while it is simple to build it is worth noting that the base and top come attached together in the box for Sallah and on first glance look like one piece - leading some collectors to think the base is missing? Assembly is simple enough once all the parts are collected. There were no obvious warping issues with the main box, but you may find the handles on either side arrive with a bit of bend that you may want to correct, The Ark is cast in a ‘gold’ coloured plastic that does a reasonable job of recreating the look from the movie. While the detail of the sculpt is very good, from the ornate rail around the top to the panels on the side, it is devoid of any other paint apps. The Ark is crying out for some definition in parts - either a wash in places to bring out the detail more, or by varying the gold finish or picking out the wraps around the two handles which should really be a darker bronze finish. The proportions and scale work well and the figures are able to grip and lift the Ark as seen in the scenes in Tanis. The top can be removed and the Ark can then be used as storage for accessories from the Indiana Jones range - although it would have been so much cooler if Hasbro had been able to include a base of what appears to be sand and possibly even an internal LED light. The Ark does a job within a budget and will look fine on display as an environment piece for your Adventure Series figures. It also provides a good base for anyone talented enough to give it some more care and attention and will be brilliant for those building dioramas for their figures. The ‘Build-an-Artifact’ concept as a whole works well enough for the Lost Ark, but already feels stretched for the Sankara Stones from Temple of Doom - and who knows what they will do for Last Crusade. Perhaps the Deluxe option may be the way for Hasbro to take this as they are doing with the Temple Escape set - and that opens up the possibility of larger pieces outside of the Build-an-Artificat concept such as the Map Room from Tanis or the Crystal Skull Throne? Major Arnold Toht was released in the Spring of 2023 as part of the first wave of Indiana Jones 6-inch scale Adventure Series figures. The launch wave of 5 figures was themed solely on Raiders of the Lost Ark and each release included a ‘Build-an-Artifact’ part allowing you to construct your own Ark of the Covenant. The Indiana Jones Adventure Series figures utilise the plastic-free packaging and therefore include artwork for Toht on the front, side, and rear to confirm the look of the figure and the contents. Major Toht is a brand new sculpt - as are most of the Adventure Series so far. He is wearing his fastened double-breasted suit as seen in the movie and this is executed by way of a white ‘shirt’ cast torso, over which is placed a rubberised jacket. The arms, legs and groin are all cast in black to finish the suited look with paint work on the tie, lapel badge and cuffs of the suit jacket. The figure also includes his large overcoat which is cast in a softer black plastic and presented as more of a cape that drapes over his shoulders - as seen in the climax of Raiders. We have two heads included, both utilising the photo-real technology to some degree and the likeness to actor Ronald Lacey is pretty good. The ‘melting’ head is particularly gruesome with an open mouth and blood streaming down the face from his eyes. Glasses at 6-inch scale continue to be a challenge for figure makers and in Toht’s case they are still quite chunky. They do however feature lenses and use a silver colour that is less intrusive but they remain glued to the head and can be easy to damage when swapping heads if you aren't careful about where you grip the figure. Toht features a removable hat, which is a bit raw considering Indy himself is yet to get a removable fedora. Toht’s hat is a single black soft plastic piece that fits both heads really well. Toht has 17 points of articulation on a fully pinless body. He is not the most action-orientated character from Raiders, but the figure itself has quite a bit of motion in making the most of the accessories that come with it. These include a pistol - another quite small piece but detailed enough to look like a Luger pistol with paint apps on the grip rather than leaving it a base colour in the plastic. The other accessory is an alternate right hand that is outstretched and imprinted with the burned outline of the Staff of Ra headpiece. As one of the trio of protagonists in Raiders of the Lost Ark, I am pleased that Toht has made his way to the line and Hasbro have executed a good-looking figure that allows for a variety of looks as seen across the movie - most notably the melting face element which looks great when posed with the Ark itself. It has been teased for some time now, but the Hasbro HasLab G.I. Joe Classified Series Dragonfly XH-1 is now fully unveiled with the crowd-funding period now live. The Dragonfly is a massive 2.5 feet long and comes with pilot William "Wild Bill" Hardy. The Dragonfly features rotating wings and an opening cockpit that can seat two 6-inch G.I, Joe figures. There are LED light-up features and various opening panels to reveal the inner working of the vehicle. The Dragonfly can be kitted out with a number of weapon components and also comes with a flight display stand and effect pieces. You even get a decal sticker sheet so you can customise your Dragonfly using The HasLab Dragonfly needs a minimum of 10,000 backers to go into production and UK colletors will need to pay £289.99 before the 18th of July cut-off point (the cost wil be charged once the item goes into production). There are then the usual stretch-goals, with the first sitting at 13.000 backers which will add a 6-inch Night Force Ripcord figure into the package. There are further stretch targets at 16k and 19k - both appear to be additional figures. If everything goes to plan the Dragonfly will ship in August 2024. Found myself in a TK Maxx store today and came across a quartet of collectors action figures in the Toy Section. The Star Wars Black Series Greedo was priced at £9.99 which is still a few quid above the Game price but certainly well under the original RRP. Similarly, the Marvel Legends Kro from Eternals priced at £19.99 in TK Maxx has been cheaper but is still a reasonable price for a Deluxe figure. There were a handful of Diamond Marvel Select Winter Soldiers at £14.99 each. The original MCU Ronin figure was released in 2019 as part of the Avengers: Endgame launch and part of the Armoured Thanos BAF wave. In 2023 Hasbro have re-released the figure - with tweaks - under the Hawkeye Disney+ banner this time around. The figure comes in plastic-free packaging carrying the Hawkeye logo and artwork on all four sides depicting the figure, and the Ronin suit. The figure is pretty much everything we got the first time around with a black cast body with a rubberised black overcoat all with painted gold trim on the appropriate sections including the shoulder of the coat, the gauntlets and the knees & lower legs. The coat piece is removable via plug & socket connectors on Hawkeye's right side. The torso underneath looks sculpted - but knowing how hard these coats can be to reposition, this is not an option I explored fully. The 2023 version does come with an unmasked Hawkeye, Jeremy Renner, head which was not included originally. This is an all-new sculpt and judging by the hairstyle is based on the Endgame look specifically and not Hawkeye - making this more of a ‘flashback’ figure and perfectly suitable for an Avengers: Endgame display. The head is new rather than re-using the Quantum Suit version, and is the best Hawkeye head to date, although it didn't have much to compete against considering the limited number of Renner figures released despite his numerous MCU appearances. The over-shoulder strap and sheath arrives separate in the pack and connects across the torso with one of those fiddly rubbery plug-and-socket affairs. While it is fitted with four holes for varying sizes, it is only really the top one that works with the width of the chest. You do also get the masked head and the two hood variants from the original release. The masked head uses photo-real printed tech for the eyes, and they are crisper this time around. The two hood pieces are a rubbery finish and both sit perfectly well over either head but do clash slightly with the strap of the holster. As an older release the figure is still pinned for the double-jointed knees and elbows, but this is not overly obvious considering the black costume. Ronin has 19 points of articulation and that includes a waist swivel and T-joint torso hidden under that coat. The figure has plenty of posing options available, including the ability to kneel and wield any of the included accessories. Those accessories include the two swords as seen on the first release. In Endgame, Ronin only utilised one sword and the inclusion of two from Hasbro may have been based on an early concept. Rather than correct this, Hasbro has chosen to include both long and short versions giving us the choice of which to use. Both swords fit in either hand and can be sheathed over the shoulder - you can even squeeze both into the sheath if you wish. Hawkeye has also been given his bow, the same one that was released with his initial Hawkeye Disney+ figure. This is made of quite hard plastic and has a plastic string so there is no ‘drawing’ options as such - and with no arrows at all included in the set, this would be an odd look. The 2023 Ronin figure is an Exclusive release, being sold by Walmart in the US and via the Fan Channel elsewhere. Unlike other exclusives, the price had been held at the now standard £24.99 RRP for a Marvel Legends figure with some independents offering a below RRP price - so it’s worth shopping around. For that price you are getting a decent amount of content with an improved Ronin figure thanks to the addition of the unmasked head, and for the bow - although Hasbro really do need to sort out a better way of executing bow accessories for their archers. The fact that this also works as both an Endgame and Hawkeye Disney+ release also works in its favour and considering the slim pickings to date for MCU Hawkeye figures - this is definitely the best to date, even if it is his less-than-conventional look. It seems that Hasbro has a lot of G.I. Joe themed news and reveals planned for June with their You Joe June event. As June gets going, we have two new digital render preview images of upcoming figures - Grunt and the Crimson Viper. Grunt will also feature a Steel Corps helmet which will enable collectors to army build with the figure which also contains four weapons, helmet, and backpack. The Crimson Viper will feature a backpack, two weapons, scarf, and removable goggles. Both figures will open for pre-order later this year. Keep track of all the Hasbro G.I. Diamond Select Toys are releasing a special SDC 2023 exclusive 2-pack to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Pacific Rim. The set will feature a battle-damaged variant of their Gipsy Danger figure and a 'Shakedown Test' variant of Gipsy Avenger. Diamond Select Toys have unveiled their San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives for 2023. They will be bringing a special VHS-inspired packed version of their Kato 1/10 Select Figure from Green Hornet to the event. This is a variant of the standard release Kato and features an unmasked Bruce Lee head sculpt as well as a Kato Dart and Nun-Chucks with motion effects.
