McFarlane have previewed a new DC Multiverse Gold Label release of Bizarro (DC Classic). This is a Gamestop exclusive with the pre-order live as of the 15th of April 2025. Bizarro is expected to ship at the end of April 2025. The Gamestop listing indicates the figure has a Platinum Chase variant, but there are no details as yet as to what that variant looks like. McFarlane have shared more details about their Platinum Red release of the DC Multiverse Scarecrow figure from Batman Begins (The Dark Knight Trilogy). The Platinum Red figures are not the variants we usually see in the Platinum Chase series but are new versions or new characters - yet are still chase figures in their own right. The suited Scarecrow will come with alternative hands as well as the standard display base and collector card. McFarlane are currently running an EQL Run Fair draw for collectors who can enter for a chance to win the option to purhcase the figure directly. “And you wanna know my secret? There's no one like me in the whole wide universe. No one like me exists, and that's true of everyone.” In late 2024, Character Toys relaunched their Doctor Who 5.5-inch action figure line with two new figures of the Fifteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday. These newer figures featured improved articulation, sculpting, and paintwork and would be offered across two formats. The Vortex Collection  would be a Character Toys exclusive line, collector boxed and featuring enhanced decor or accessories. The standard line would then feature the basic figures, limited or no accessories, and be blister-carded for general sale at selected retailers.  The General release figures utilise the same design principles as the slightly larger Vortex Collection boxes and as established through the BBC. The cardback starts of as a white base at the top left and bottom right corners, with a larger pink-purple hued vortex design then running through the centre and acting as the cardback for the figure itself. This colour scheme is being established by Character as Doctor-specific and across this line and the B&M series - this colour is assigned to the 15th Doctor seasons. The blister itself houses a side wrap and front insert, and it is in here that we find the current Doctor Who logo, the TARDIS image, and the character's name. The same diamond-shaped callouts seen on the B&M packaging over the past few years are also repeated within the blister insert, confirming this as an articulated figure release, the 5.5-inch scale, and the era from which it is taken  -although not the story. The back of the card is spacious with lots of white space with a diamond cut out image of Ncuit Gatwa’s Doctor, and a short paragraph about the 15th Doctor’s characteristics and his ‘sense for adventure’. The Doctor is based on the outfit he wears in Space Babies, and includes an open-neck blue shirt with yellow, red and dark blue stripes. There are a pair of dark trousers in a deep blue colour and a pair of white and tan trainers with side stripes and sculpted lace detailing. Over all of this is the Doctor’s coat, a long soft plastic piece in red-brown with a wash of sorts to add texture and further paint detailing on the buttons and the buckle. The head sculpt is an impressive likeness to Ncuti Gatwa with a more realistic finish than anything we’ve seen to date in the Who series without a full-on printed photo application. The hair is part of the overall sculpt and cut short with a crisp trim to the fringe and sides with no obvious paint errors between flesh tone and hair colour. The Doctor’s hands feature sculpted rings, each painted in silver, and he is also wearing a combination of necklaces, each individually picked out against the skin tone of his chest. vs Vortex Edition (2024) right This is the same exact base figure as the Vortex release , with the costume elements updated to meet that used in the Space Babies episode. While the Vortex Edition is reported as including improved decor on the standard line, this is not immediately evident - although, up close, the Vortex figure uses a more intensive wash on the coat and a slightly glossier skin tone. The Doctor comes with his Sonic Screwdriver as a sole accessory. This is carried over from the Vortex release and is a tiny piece, scaled correctly to the figure. It is silver as a base colour with evident painted decor in blue and gold and visible Gallifreyan circle details on the front face in particular. The Doctor’s right hand is shaped to hold the Screwdriver in a natural position, although the grip is not fully secure, so be very mindful of your tiny Screwdriver falling out of the hand and being easily lost. Articulation is 16 points overall, all now upgraded from pinned joints to the more modern internal joints - a huge improvement visually while the articulation itself is also enhanced. The legs feature hip, thigh and knee joints plus a new ankle rocker, which helps position the Doctor in a stable pose regardless of leg positioning within the confines of the lower part of his coat. The arms now include a shoulder as standard that moves up and outward with a full range of movement, and the elbows now bend and rotate, removing the need for the older problematic bicep swivel. Waist is a ball joint, cleverly disguised around the hem of the trousers, and the neck too is a ball joint fitting allowing more expression intot he Doctor’s head position including the ability to cock his head and look up and down. I struggle to see an enormous variation in finish from the Vortex release to this standard edition, meaning neither figure stands out against the other, apart from the obvious change of outfit from one episode to another. The decor may be simpler in places, but that still includes a wash over the coat, painted buttons, and a striped design to the shirt - not to mention the painted jewellery across hands and neck. The Doctor even gets his sonic screwdriver, meaning the only piece not carried across is the Villengard Mine as seen in the episode Boom! At £17.99, these are higher in terms of unit price to the various re-releases and tweaks that come through the B&M line and are competitive against the wider collectors market of figures of a similar size and design. JFS Toys have shared some packaging mockup images for their Robocop (1987) Villains of Old Detroit figures. The packaging has a VHS feel to it with an enclosed slide-off cover and the figure packed into an inner tray within. The next NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle formal reveal for the Haulathon event 2025 is a new two-pack of Creepy Eddie and Shibano-Sama, as featured in IDW's TMNT: Saturday Morning Adventures. Shibano-Sama will come with the option to display him with a pair of legs or with a ghostly tail. He also features extra hands, a sword, an urn, and dynamite. The Dream-O-Vision helmet can be used with most other NECA Cartoon Turtle figures. Creepy Eddie includes two head options, alternative hands, and the same swap-out legs for a ghostly tail option as Shibano-Sama. The pair are packed into a TMNT Cartoon Turtles double pack and are likely a 'first to market' arrangement for Haulathon - available at Target stores in the US and via the Haulathon website internationally. The figure is the same base as the Vortex Edition , but with updated decor. This includes a white patterned sweater with printed blue, red and black patterning and over this a denim effect jacket with fur trim picked out in white at the collar and at the sleeve cuffs. In the original promo shot, Ruby was wearing shorts - but on the figure, the same soft plastic skirt is still used, cast in a dark blue plastic. The outfit concludes with dak brown leggings/tights and a pair of sculpted black boots which include lace detail, but these are unpainted (the Vortex release did paint these details) vs Vortex Edition (2024) right Ruby’s headsculpt is an enhancement on earlier style figures but remains broadly in keeping with the long-running Doctor Who line, a relatively good likeness to actor Millie Gibson while simplistic in its approach to painting at a time where many companies are applying more realistic printed solutions. The hair is an individual piece, which means a neat hairline where it meets the skin tone of the head. It uses a single blonde colour and the depth of sculpt to create a wider definition. Her hands include sculpted and painted ring details in silver and painted fingernails in a black finish. Ruby has no accessories at all included. The handbag and mobile accessories remain exclusive to the Vortex release, but as this is the same base figure, you can swap them across if you own both versions. This does leave Ruby with a pointing finger on her right hand that was probably intended for her to use scrolling through her phone. Without the phone accessory, it does look a bit out of place unless you pose Ruby pointing at something in her general vicinity. Articulation is upgraded from order figures, the main difference being the move away from pinned joints, which helps the overall look of the figure no end. There are 16 points of articulation in total, with rotating 90-degree elbow bends negating the need for the ugly bicep cut seen on older releases. The shoulders also move up and outward, so they have a wider range of motion. As do the hips, within the limitations of the shirt, with 90-degree knee bends. Both the waist joint and neck joints are enhanced from simple swivels to a ball joint, providing extra movement for both upper body and head. While the Doctor figure got ankle rockers, Ruby only gets a boot cut swivel, so it is a little bit trickier to stand with both feet flat to the floor unless a very neutral stance is adopted.  Compared to the Vortex release of Ruby Sunday, this general release only really differs in terms of included accessories. It has the same sculpt and articulation, and while the Vortex Edition is listed as including improved decor, this standard version does a pretty good job of the sweater and the coat while the Vortex edition only really leant into the patterning on the skirt and detailing on the boots. At a £17.99 RRP this is higher than we may be used to paying at B&M for multipacks of 2 or 3 figures, but is about right against other similar lines and still £7 cheaper than the Hasbro collector lines - albeit with the differences taken into account in terms of articulation, accessories and the use of face printing decor. The niggles on the figure are the inaccurate skirt and the outfit choice overall which is not episode specific. The lack of accessories isn’t too much of an issue, but the pointy hand needed changing once the mobile phone accessory was excluded. NECA's new Ultimate Beetlejuice in his red Wedding Tuxedo, leaked a few weeks ago through a Best Buy listing, is now revealed in full as a Haulathon release. The figure is based on the 2024 Beetlejuice Beetlejuice sequel and features two head options, extra hands, Baby Beetlejuice, a heart, and a marriage contract. Beetlejuice is packed into an Ultimate format box with an opening front flap. The artwork is the same base design as used on the Ultimate Tour Guide Beetlejuice. The figure is likely to be a first-to-market arrangement for Target and the Haulathon program, with a wider release at a later stage. Haulathon is underway in the US with Target and NECA teaming up to bring a number of new products to market through the Target US stores and globally through the Haulathon website. While some of these will be exclusives to Target & Haulathon, others are 'first to market' arrangements with a wider release to come through all stockists later on. The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Haulathon offering is a new Mirage Studios 4-pack of the 'Gangster' Turtles from issue 14 of the original Eastman & Larid comics. The set features Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo in their gangster get-up. The figures all come with removable headgear, alternative bandanas, extra hands, and accessories, including a safe, a pocket watch, dynamite, and a bag of cash. The figure heads are updated from prior releases, and these can be exchanged on to the previous Mirage Turtle releases. As seen in issue #14 of Eastman & Laird’s original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics from Mirage Studios! Shh... do NOT mention these figures to anyone! McFarlane have announced two new Gold Label releases in their 'Frostbite Edition' format with an icy blue decor applied to the standard releases of each figure. From the DC Multiverse, we have the 'Frostbite Edition' Red Hood from Batman: The Three Jokers. Red Hood comes complete with extra hands, a crowbar, a display stand for the figure, and a second for the included collector card. This one is a Gamestop exclusive in the US and releases at the end of April 2025. Also exclusive at Gamestop is a 'Frostbite Edition' release of The Night King from the long thought defunct 6-inch Game of Thrones Series. The Night King will include his spear and sword as well as a new display base and a collector card. It too is a late April 2025 release. McFarlane are releasing a special 7-inch 'Patina Edition' figure of Spawn, exclusive to the McFarlane Store and Walmart in the US. The Gold Label Collector Edition features a posed figure of Spawn in a bronzed patina colour scheme, complete with figure stand, collector card, and collector card stand.
