Confirmed 5 inch scale Doctor Who 13 Doctors set from Character Options. The designer from Affable Design has posted the breakdown of each figure as follows. First Doctor - The Web Planet For the first Doctor I did a new version of the costume in golden/sepia tones. The guiding principal for the whole set was to use more natural tones and not make the figures so high contrast. There is almost no black anywhere in the set - very dark brown, very dark blue, loads of washes and shades of grey. There just aren't a wealth of colour pictures of the first Doctor so the colour palette was arrived at tonally. Second Doctor - The Two Doctors Bluish grey shirt, greenish grey tartan trousers and yes, grey hair. Third Doctor - The Time Monster Beautiful russet red jacket with fleur de lis, deep brown trouser lighter hair. (I actually think this costume is more accurate to The Three Doctors - he didn't wear the bow tie in the Time Monster) Fourth Doctor - Logopolis This is a more 'as seen on screen' version of the S18 costume, the red in scarf is less orange, the burgundy a deeper shade, the shirt is a bone white, not a pure white. Fifth Doctor - The Awakening All new treatment of the costume. Grubbier shoes, not so bright. Sixth Doctor - Real Time The fourteen-shades-of-blue version of his costume as seen on Big Finish covers. Seventh Doctor - Ghost Light All new treatment of the tartan trousers. Eighth Doctor - Night of the Doctor Post crash bloodied face and dirty outfit. War Doctor -Day of the Doctor Revised darker version of the costume. Gaiters are more like greenish canvas now. Other colours tweaked. Darker grey in the beard. Ninth Doctor - The Parting of the Ways Dark purple t-shirt. Trousers dark grey, not black, shoes dark brown not black. Tenth Doctor - The Shakespeare Code All colours re-interpreted. Grubbier shoes, darker coat different blue for the pinstripes. (looks to be the newer head sculpt also) Eleventh Doctor - The Beast Below All new colour treatment, new base tone for the tweed with a new wash over it. Shoes show wear on the toes, grey not black trousers. New interpretation of the grey shirt with the red striped pattern. Twelfth Doctor - Time Heist Very dark blue shirt.

Review : Unmasked Kylo Ren Star Wars Black Series (Hasbro) Wave/Series : Exclusive to Star Wars Celebration / SDCC 2016* Released : July 2016 Price : £32.99 * a standard version will also be released and will exclude the Darth Vader head, the First Order Banner and no alternative masked head. An unmasked Kylo Ren always felt like an inevitable addition to the Star Wars Black Series line. He was announced a couple of weeks before Star Wars Celebration 2016 in London as an exclusive figure, and would later go on to be available at SDCC 2016. Restricted to 3000 pieces at Star Wars Celebration, the figure sold out across all three days. It was also revealed at the show that the basic unmasked figure would be released in the main series, the vanilla version will be #26. The exclusive Kylo was packed in an over-sized box which was approximately three times the width of the standard packaging. It held the black with bold red trim from Phase 3, but without a window. Instead a front flap, held in place by Velcro tabs, would be opened to reveal the figure within and its accessories. The box cover included a grey scale image of the unmasked Kylo Ren with his lit cross-saber a stark red colouring against what I assume is a snowy black background. To the left the red stripe holds the Star Wars Black Series logo at the top in black and the character name at the bottom. This red band extends round the left hand spine. A First Order logo is embossed into this red panel. Round the back is another grey scale image, this time of about half of the Kylo Ren mask to the left hand side of the box. Over to the right is the Star Wars logo again, this time in grey, and a paragraph detailing Kylo's past. This text is printed in very dark grey and is not the easiest to read, or indeed photograph. The box ends on the right hand spine with a further First Order logo and the character name. Our version, bought at Celebration, also sports a couple of over-stickers. One at the front obscures some detail next to the Hasbro logo, there is then another one on the bottom of the red band that quotes Age +4, a legal requirement I assume for UK sales. Round the back a larger sticker covers a large proportion of the back - again this is predominantly safety notice related. Inside the spine is a wonderful image of the melted Darth Vader helmet in grey scale artwork. In stark contrast the inner tray holding the figure is a bold red, and not just a flat colour but with a plasma light sable glow around each compartment. The figure is presented to the right with a light saber hilt already in hand. Next is the lit lightsaber and then the two heads - Darth Vader's melted helmet and the Kylo Ren mask. The final compartment holds a First Order Banner and stand. This entire inner tray slides out and the pieces all pop out easily enough, with the exception of the figure which is tied in twice with a black twist tie and also an elasticated clear band. Looking at the unmasked figure first, and the likeness to Adam Driver is passable but not particularly well painted. This is sadly consistent with most human Black Series figures now. The figure comes with his hood folded back, and then around this is the sculpted plastic cloak. From this piece comes the soft goods robe that covers the chest and then flows down into an outer skirt, These soft goods are nicely tailored, with a decent texture and do hang really well considering the scale. They are held in place with a plastic belt. The arms are sculpted plastic with a ribbed design, and the same ribbed design is repeated in a soft rubber inner skirt. Under this final skirt are a pair of sculpted legs with quite a lot of detail considering they are hidden. The figure ends with strapped gloss boots. Aside from the head paint wise there is nothing other than a touch of silver on the belt, but each black element of the costume does carry a different shade and texture. This is the revised version of Kylo and he differs from the original version with an updated outer cloak around the neck, a crisper belt, and shorter robes that stop at his feet and do not splay out across the ground. This revised Kylo figure is also a touch taller than the original wave 1 release. The unmasked head can be swapped out with the Kylo Ren helmet. The mechanism to do this is quite smooth and once in place you essentially an identical masked Kylo Ren to the revision that was put out as part of the main range. The helmet also serves to be held by Kylo so he can have it under his arm, or held out inspecting it while he seeks out the dark side within. The two lightsabers are also a big improvement on the other release. Both are crisper in the sculpt and paint and fit neatly into either hand. The lit version is the same as the one sold with the Starkiller version of Kylo. The Darth Vader mask is so far exclusive to this box set only. It is a really nice sculpt and designed with a flat base so it can sit steadily on a table. I feel it would have been nice to be displayed with a plinth of some kind, but perhaps that is asking too much. Paint wise, there is more paint applications on the Vader helmet than on the Ren figure with a wash appied over the black plastic cast. Also exclusive to the box set is the First Order banner. This comes in two pieces. The first is a really crisp hexagonal stand with an embossed First Order logo picked out in deep red. The banner mast slots into this. The banner itself is soft goods and hangs nicely on its cross piece. It is a deep red in colour with a flat black First Order logo at it's centre. My one niggle is that it feels a little small. It stands just a half inch taller than Kylo, and I would have liked to see a more grander piece. Articulation on the figure is identical to all the other Ren's and consistent with the POA the Black Series are now using. The head is a ball joint and either head can move up and down and rotate fully on the ball joint. The shoulders are ball jointed and can extend out and upwards, although you will find the right arm stops a little lower than the left due to being blocked by the over cloak. The elbows are single jointed but also rotate and there is a pinned wrist which allows the hands to rotate and bend. Hidden under the cloak is a waist joint which gives the torso some sideways movement to the legs, this will aid more action orientated poses. The hips are ball jointed like the shoulder and have a swivel just under them at the thigh. With double jointed knees and ankle rockers the legs are really maneuverable and are not even blocked completely by the inner plastic skirt thanks to some cleverly added splits in the skirt. It is quite easy for example to get Kylo to kneel with his cloak spreading out to either side. As a figure, unmasked Kylo was a no-brainer for Hasbro. And as an exclusive it kind of works too. All collectors will be able to pick up the core figure eventually, whilst those who bought it at SWCE/SDCC will have the exclusive packaging and a couple of extra pieces for their trouble - the same way Hasbro approached the 2013 (Boba Fett) and 2014 (Jabba the Hutt) SDCC exclusives. Are these extra's worth a +£10 price tag? That will be a matter of opinion, but I think for me there is enough in the box to warrant the £33 - although I would be loathed to pay much more on the secondary market. I score the unmasked Kylo Ren a 4 out of 5 for the exclusive version. The head sculpt could do with some extra paint applications and the banner could maybe do with being a bit bigger. Putting aside the exclusive elements, and of course at a lower price, the standard version will likely score the same - but we will have a better look at this and update our gallery and review once figure #26 hit's stores.

Marvel Select As well as the 3 Civil War figures (due out soon) the Diamond Marvel Select display also revealed the Select Doctor Strange figure. In an Instagram update Diamond have given the date of 3rd of August 2016 for the long awaited Civil War figures to be shipped to Comic Book Stores. Also on display at SDCC, and discussed in their SDCC Panel, were the re-release of Carnage and the upcoming Comic Book Destroyer (source TheFwoosh ActionFigureInsider) Ghostbusters Within the Ghostbusters display, the brilliant Library Ghost has just been revealed at SDCC. It was then confirmed via Instagram that Series 4 will be made up of Gozer, Walter Peck and the slimed Peter. Series 4 will be released in early 2017. That will bring us to 12 figures in total and with just Series 5 left to go. Series 5 should therefore be made up of The Library Ghost and a Terror Dog - and I suspect one more figure? It is difficult to tell if the Terror Dog will have to be bought twice to put on the plinth as a statue, or indeed if there will be a "real" Terror Dog and also a statue diorama piece? Alice through the Looking Glass The previously announced Alice and Hatter Select 7 inch figures were displayed at SDCC with Diamond confirming that a 2nd series is in the works for release. Star Trek Select With the Select Khan from Wrath of Khan due for release soon, Diamond have confirmed at their SDCC panel that the next planned release in the Star Trek line will be a Borg. No images or other details as yet.

Marvel Netflix Figures / Fantastic Four The announcement and reveal of two Netflix Marvel Legends figures caught a lot of people by surprise. But Hasbro are bringing us a Jessica Jones and a Punisher in their 6" Legends scale. Also revealed at the Marvel Hasbro Panel, but not on display, was a 6 inch Legends scale Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) who would come along with Herbie. How this Fantastic Four figure, and the Netflix figures will fit into a wave is not clear at this stage. (source : Marvelous Toys) Marvel Legends 12" Deadpool Marvel Legends has been extended of course to include new 12" figures, with Captain America, Iron-Man and Spider-Man revealed at Toy Fair in February. The fourth figure in this range has now been revealed as Deadpool, everyone's favourite Merc with the mouth. Deadpool will come with alternative head and various weaponry Marvel Legends Doctor Strange First look at the Movie Doctor Strange and Baron Mordo - Marvel Legends. Based on the promotional images, we can perhaps surmise that the Movie figures will be combined with the comic figures we saw at Toy Fair and form a 6 figure wave with Dormammu as the Build a Figure - Doctor Strange (movie) - Baron Mordo (movie) - Doctor Strange - Iron Fist - Nico Minoru - Brother Voodoo (source TheFwoosh / Flyguy.net) Marvel Legends Spider-Man Alongside the Movie Dr Strange figures are what looks to be a new Spider-Man wave containing new figures of Spider-UK, Spider-Man 2099, Ms Marvel, Green Goblin and a Jackal. There is also a black suited Spider-Man in their somewhere. As yet any BAF for these figures is not clear. (source TheFwoosh / Flyguy.net) Marvel Legends X-Men wave, 2017 X-Men are getting another full wave of Legends in 2017. The wave is made up of 5 figures, with the build a figure being an impressive looking Warlock - Dazzler - Sunfire - Colossus 7.5" - Polaris Comes w Havok effects - Jim Lee Cyclops - Warlock (Build a Figure) Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy wave, 2017 And for Guardians of the Galaxy, there will be a 2nd comic book themed wave hitting in 2017. Panel Details The Hasbro Star Wars panel took place on Friday July 22nd at 12pm PT. This was 8pm UK time. Panel Reveals The new figures announced at the Hasbro Star Wars panel were as follows. Takes them 12-18 months to develop a figure The other snipped (via the Hasbro Breakfast and not the panel) was that earlier waves like the Maul and Luke Pilot wave may be re-released? 3.75" Figures Fenn Rau (Mandalorian from Rebels) Grand Admiral Thrawn figure is coming (Rebels) Hera's A-Wing Poe vs Stormtrooper 2-pack 3.75" AT-ACT (Rogue One) The big item for 3.75" fans is an AT-ACT (All Terrain Armoured Cargo Transport) The vehicle will come with lights and sounds and will really walk - the walking will be controlled via a SmartPhone It will be packed with 3 figures - Jyn Erso, Shoretrooper and an Astromech The side panel comes out to create a bunker The thing will also follow the latest craze in the Star Wars line and fire Nerf darts! (I am seeing the price of this going up and up as we find out more - this has to be £200) The figures from the AT-ACT were added to the Hasbro booth display, along with a 3.75" Death Trooper that had not been mentioned at the panel. If you take a look at the Black Series wall (image 1) there are 5 empty single figure holders and 1 deluxe holder. These will be filled after the Hasbro Panel later today (8pm UK time) It was also pleasing to see the New Hope Princess Leia Black Series is back after her disappearing trick at Celebration. She seems to have had "some work done" and is looking much better.

The McFarlane booth at SDCC is predominantly figures we have already seen revealed for their first two waves of the Color Tops range (Red and Blue Waves). The booth and activity, as you'd expect, has been heavily focused around The Walking Dead - with the shows stars being photographed with their prototype 7" figures. One reveal is the exclusive Walking Dead series 6 Bluray which will come in an exclusive edition complete with McFarlane designed "Truck Walker" packaging

Aliens The Kenner homage series 10 has been fully unveiled at SDCC. The three figure wave will be made up of the Mantis Alien, the Gorilla Alien and the Queen Facehugger. The T1000 looks to be coming with three heads (Police Motorcycle Helmet, Normal and damaged). There will also be the spiked finger hands and the forearm blades as well as a handgun (source ToyArk) Predators Revealed on the Predator section was the final figure for Scarface from Concrete Jungle, Youngblood and the wonderful AvP Elder. The Ultimate Jungle Hunter Predator is on display in his own Jungle diorama. The Ultimate City Hunter and Ultimate Scarface are displayed with their packaging and flanked by the Cinemachines Predator ship Ninja Turtles As promised, and as teased, the full four Quarter Scale Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been revealed. Remember UK followers, these won't be available in the UK at the moment due to licencing issues. DC & Marvel Quarter Scale Pulling a surprise out of the bag (as they do) NECA revealed a new version of their Q/Scale Danny Devito Penguin figure, this time in his Gotham Mayor Outfit "This election season, vote Oswald Cobblepot for Mayor! This all-new version of the ‪#‎Penguin‬ from Batman Returns is ready to hit the campaign trail like a ton of bricks. The 1/4 scale action figure features the likeness of actor Danny DeVito, whose memorable performance as the twisted Oswald Cobblepot in the 1992 movie still defines the character. The fully poseable figure stands 15" tall and features synthetic hair and a movie-authentic sculpt. However, NECA have shared an early sample of the Cassidy figure (minus head) on their Twitter feed. Ash vs Evil Dead The first three figures from Ash vs The Evil Dead are on display at SDCC. And NECA have then gone on to announce where this creepy looking chap fits in after tweeting him emerging from a cellar on the first day of the show. It seems the Ash sculpt will get a "bloody" decor and will be released in a 3 pack later this year with two of these Demon Spawn. "Get a load of this trio. @AshvsEvilDead Bloody Ash vs Demon Spawn 3 pack coming this Fall!!" - Randy Falk, NECA (via Twitter) "Just in time for Season 2 of the hit STARZ series Ash vs Evil Dead, we present a special edition action figure 3-pack dedicated to the dramatic Season 1 finale. The set includes ‪#‎BloodyAsh‬ and two demon spawn figures that are exclusive to this set. DC Collectables revealed a large number of their new 6.75" figures from the DC TV universe ahead of SDCC, these included a 2-pack of Flash & Arrow and single releases of Constantine, Vixen, The Atom, Firestorm, Hawkgirl, Martian Manhunter, Supergirl and Zoom. In terms of the movie's then it looks like we will be getting the following figures in late 2016 / early 2017 Dawn of Justice Batman Nightmare Batman Aquaman Suicide Squad Boomerang Killer Croc Katana DC Collectibles Gallery from SDCC (source TheFwoosh) as well as the promotional release images

Movie Realization (Star Wars) The only new product from the Star Wars Realization range on display at the Blue Fin (US Distributor of Tamashii Nations) was the Movie Realization Stormtrooper Archer. Aside from that, the key news would be that there are plans to re-release the original Realization Vader and perhaps others due to the demand and the current secondary market prices We did get a better look at the Realization Spider-Man SH Figuarts Ghostbusters, or at least The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, are coming to the SH Figuarts range - obviously this is not in 1/12 scale. It will actually be more of a MonsterArts figure like their Godzilla figures. Talking of Godzilla, a new Monsterarts figure was on display also. There are also closer looks at the WWE Triple H 1/12 figure Also within the booth are a new Bruce Lee figure (Game of Death), Batman, Joker and a Shredder to go with their 1/12 Turtle figures.
