- Ghostbusters 2, series 1 revealed by Diamond Select
At Toy Fair 2017 back in February, Diamond confirmed their 7" Select scale of Ghostbusters figures will continue in 2017 passed it's 5th series. Series 6 would move the focus from the original 1984 movie to the 1989 sequel. The build-a-diorama for this second batch would be the frontage of the Ghostbusters fire house. On display at Toy Fair was a 7" Vigo The Carpathian figure, as well as a cardboard placeholder for Janosz. Diamond have confirmed the full line-up for the first 3 figure wave. Vigo is included as we had suspected. We also get Ray in his darker Ghostbusters 2 outfit, complete with Santa hat. And the third figure is Louis Tully in his Ghostbusters gear from the climax of the movie. Ray is a re-use of his original release with a new paint job and Ghostbusters 2 logo. The head however is a new smiling sculpt. At this point we don't know if the Santa hat is removable. Louis is also going to borrow heavily from the original figures - although he has been shortened a touch. The head is similar to the original release but the ear muffs seem to be sculpted in place. Vigo is a new figure, and we hope they find the budget to include his painting as an accessory? The initial release date is scheduled for November 2017 on Big Bad Toy Store, while Entertainment Earth are quoting January 2018 A Diamond Select Release! It's the 15th-anniversary of the Select action figure format, and DST is continuing one of its most successful Select lines to date! With the 15-figure Rooftop diorama completed, DST is starting a new diorama-building series of Ghostbusters movie action figures, based on 1989's Ghostbusters 2! Series 5 will include Ray Stantz in his gray jumpsuit and gear, Louis Tully in his tan jumpsuit and gear, and Vigo the Carpathian. Plus, each figure includes pieces from a new diorama so fans can start to build the sign and doors from the Ghostbusters' fire house headquarters! Fire house parts will be inluded with the 15 figures total in Series 6-10, and these diorama pieces are exclusive to the speciality market. Each figure comes packaged in display-ready Select packaging, with side-panel artwork for shelf reference. Sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios!
- Custom / Repaint : Captain America, Age of Ultron, Diamond Select 1/10 Scale
Marvel Cinematic Universe Age of Ultron Captain America Marvel Select 7" scale Recipe Bootleg 7" Captain America Marvel Legends Civil War Captain America Shield 2mm x 0.5mm Neodymium Magnets 5mm x 1mm Neodymium Magnets Paints - Revell Aquacolor Blue 56 matt - Bulk of outfit. These were originating in China, but unlike a lot of bootlegs these were pretty nicely sculpted and articulated. The majority were also in scale (or near enough) to the 7" Marvel Select figures from Diamond. While I do not condone fake copies of existing figures, these bootlegs are not a direct copy of a released figure. They also represent characters not available in the 7" scale. The Captain America from this series of bootleg figures was a particularly glossy version of the Civil War figure. While Diamond had already released a far superior Civil War Capt, this bootleg was too good an opportunity to pass up for a repaint to more resemble his Age of Ultron outfit. The figure stands at 7" high, the tallest of the bootlegs and the best match for the 7" Select Marvel figures. The shield supplied with the bootleg is too small. The best fit for the figure would be the new sized shield from the Select Civil War release - or in my case I used the identically sized shield from the Marvel Legends Civil War Captain America. There is no immediate customisation of this figure. It was simply a case of heating him up and stripping him to his component parts. He was then repainted head to toe with Revel Aquacolor acrylic paints as detailed in the paint list at the top of the page. I wanted to take Cap one stage further than a repaint and was intrigued to see if I could replicate the Stark Tech upgrade that Cap was sporting in Age of Ultron with the magnetic shield. To achieve this I ordered a couple of sizes of Neodymium magnets from eBay (see Spider Magnets) for 99p a set. The tiny 0.5mm magnets were attached to Cap's and painted to match the outfit. The smaller magnets were also placed on the strapping to Cap's back. On the shield I cut off the hand straps and filled in the gaps left with some rubber. Onto these I glued the larger 5mm magnets (making sure that the polarities matched). While the Shield won't leap into Cap's hand - it does attach to either his arm or his back purely on the strength of the magnets. Scale wise, Cap fits in with the official 7" Select figures pretty well. He is a touch shorter than the Civil War Captain America from Diamond, but alongside the Civil War Iron-Man he fits really well - same with older characters like Avengers Hawkeye or Age of Ultron Black Widow.

- McFarlane will bring us Dark Crystal 7" figures in 2018
Just ahead of Toy Fair 2017 it was mentioned that McFarlane would be announcing they would be bringing both Labyrinth and Dark Crystal licences into their Color Tops range. While the Jareth Labyrinth figure was shown at Toy Fair, nothing was mentioned about Dark Crystal. This week the tie in was finally confirmed. “The upcoming toys will include a 7-inch figure of Labyrinth’s Jareth the Goblin King, and for The Dark Crystal, fans can look forward to figures of Jen and Kira. Each figure will be highly detailed and come fully articulated to recreate iconic movie scenes. These figures will also debut in new window box collector packaging and will come with Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal branded detailed bases”. “The beautifully created figures from the talented team at McFarlane Toys will bring to life these iconic characters and allow our fans to show their passion and enthusiasm for these beloved fantasy productions,” said Nicole Goldman, executive vice president, Marketing/PR and Education Initiatives for The Jim Henson Company. While Jareth is due in November, we will have to wait for 2018 for Jen and Kira.

- NECA move to Dark Horse for next Robocop release
NECA have talked for some time about their next plans for their Robocop licence, particularly as they feel they've exhausted the viable figure options from the movies. The next step seems to be to follow both Predator and Aliens into the Dark Horse comic book universe, and this figure has been teased via Twitter as the first from this new line. Future Robocop is from the Robocop vs Terminator series and is packed with some impressive weaponry on that back pack. Considering this is a prototype image and assuming it is not an older image, I would expect us to be looking at early 2018 now for release. BTS - this has been in the works for a long time. - 12" Marvel Legends Daredevil confirmed as SDCC 2017 exclusive
The 12" Daredevil that we saw a couple of weeks back on eBay has now been confirmed via Yahoo as an SDCC 2017 exclusive. The article gives us some stunning new promotional images, and a better look at the packaging with its Joe Quesada artwork. There are also two posters included in the box. The figure itself comes with alternative heads - one masked, the other unmasked and bloodied. There is also a loose mask which looks to be something for the figure to hold as it doesn't look like it is engineered to fit over the unmasked head. There are swap out forearms with a set in the deep red of the costume, and a second set that are bandaged. There are alternative hands to match also giving a number of arm combinations. Weaponry is the iconic billy clubs which look to be held in Daredevil's hands or in the thigh holster. The figure will cost $59.99 and be sold at the Hasbro booth at SDCC 2017, with a further quantity available after San Diego for US customers via the Hasbro Online Store. There is no news or details on the figure being available outside the US?
