- Marvel Legends Ghost Rider and Hell Cycle
Joining Black Widow as the first two releases in the Marvel Legends vehicle line is this stunning Ghost Rider and his Hell Cycle. Like Widow, you can see the basic design principles of the Legends line in the packaging with the large window with Ghost Rider logo at the front, and of course those scalloped sides. The Hell Cycles handlebars look to be packed seperately, most likely as they are wider than te packaging. Ghost Rider comes with his chain whip. ETA on this and Widow is Spring 2018.
- Mission Christmas : We Need You!
For the 2nd year, we are going to get behind the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal. This festive fundraiser collects toys and gifts for disadvantaged kids across the UK and delivers them for Christmas. The principle is simple - either buy a toy and drop it off at a collection point at your nearest WICKES store or BAUER radio station. Or, you can make a cash donation online by visiting the DONATION page. Here at the Mephitsu Archives we have over 1000 followers on Facebook and Twitter, and over 1000 visitors to our website each month. Imagine the difference we could make if we translated that into £1 or 1 gift from each of them? We will be gathering in our Christmas sack of presents in the coming weeks. We would love you to join us.... "With 1 in 4 children across the UK living in poverty this December, for many families Christmas is simply a luxury they can’t afford. This year’s Mission Christmas aims to beat last year’s fundraising total and help make sure it can help as many children as possible."
- Star Wars 6" Black Series Executioner at Tesco plus more on 3 for 2 offer
Star Wars Black Series 6" Executioner figure is showing up on the Tesco website for £20 (in stock) and part of their 3 for 2 offer on toys. This figure is a US Target exclusive and had only been available through a few independents up until this point. We can confirm now that this is an Exclusive for Tesco here in the UK and is stickered up as such as the image below (shared by Jonno77777 on instagram) confirms. As yet these are online only but the sticker suggests they will hit stores also? We await the first reports of these being found. Other similar items are the Speeder sets at £65 each and the Centrepiece collection sets for £69.95 - while these are about standard price on their own, they are also on 3 for 2 making a significant saving if you get 3 of them.
- Should we worry over UK distribution of Marvel Select Spider-Man & Daredevil MCU figures?
Anyone who follows the site knows we are huge advocates of the Select 7" figures from Diamond Select - particularly their Marvel MCU figures, but also Gotham, Ghostbusters and many others - with extensive archived reviews of a lot of their releases. Up to the early part of this year, any Select release from Diamond was more or less a worldwide release with UK fans getting stock in their local store at the same time as US collectors. We are increasingly worried now about the distribution of the recent Spider-Man Homecoming and Daredevil Select figures - both of which have been in the states now for some time. This concern has been further enhanced by Forbidden Planet Intenational who, having taken pre-orders for Spider-Man, are now writing out and cancelling orders as they are unable to get any stocks. We've reached out to a few people now for info - including Diamond themselves - and we will update the UK collectors as more information becomes available.

The box is a blown up version of the standard Legends packaging with scooped side panels and Black Widow logo front and centre. The set is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2018.

- New images of Bucky O'Hare figures from Boss Fight Studios
We are very close now to the arrival of the first Bucky O'Hare figures from Boss Fight Studios. The team at Boss Fight have also been sharing some early prototype samples for the next few figures - Dead Eye Duck and the Toad Trooper. If you haven't pre-ordered the first pair of figures, you can still do so in the UK via our good friends at Kapow Toys
- Funko announce 5.5" Mortal Kombat Action Figures
Funko are branching out to yet another type of collectible figure with these new Mortal Kombat figures. The figures are about 5 1/2" high and come on a retro feel blister card. The style is difficult to categorise, but they certainly borrow from the type of over-exagerated muscle bound figures we saw in the mid-80's, Masters of the Universe in particular. The first wave (assuming these are expanded) will include 5 figures. They are Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden, Liu Kang and Kitana. Most come with weaponry of some description. They will retail in the US at $14.99, so expect to pay £12 or so here in UK. Release date is set for February 2018,
- Star Wars Black Series, Wave 15 for January 2018
Yakface.com have revealed the make-up of the first Star Wars Black Series wave of 2018. This 15th Wave will apparently keep the Phase 3 packaging and will include at least three new figures. We've updated our 2018 page with this new info from Yakface.com The January 2018 release will bring us the general release of Captain Rex - complete with new face printing technology. There will be DJ from The Last Jedi, and Rey in her Resistance Base (Journey to Ahch-to) outfit from The Force Awakens. The wave will be the newer 8 figure assortment, and the other 5 figures are presently touted as repacks. These will be the recent figures of Lando and The Imperial Guard - good news for those who didn't get these in the summer of 2017 or who want to expand their Imperial Guard forces. Less welcome is the repack of The Last Jedi Sergeant Poe - originally released in Wave 13 and already peg-warming in some stores. The final two figures are from the start of Phase 3 back in 2015 - Captain Phasma and the First Order Stormtrooper. Now while these are most likely repacks, I am still going to hold out some minor hope of them at least being tweaked. The FO Trooper could be updated with the new headsculpt that we've seen on the Executioner figure and in the Amazon box set. Phasma could get a revised paint job and/or be packed with her new staff weapon. Considering the 8 figures in the wave, it seems DJ will be the chase figure - followed by Rey and Rex. The rest are most likely going to peg warm, particularly the Phasma and Trooper figures IF there is no tweak. We await full details on Wave 15 and if this is a January release then pre-orders should go up very soon.
- Inferno Squad Agent - 6" Black Series figure at GAME
UK collectors wanting to get their hands on the Star Wars Black Series 6" exclusive Inferno Squad Agent figure have a new avenue as GAME have put the item up for pre-order on their website to be released at the same time as Battlefront II - 17th November. The figure is £29.99 plus delivery, but that is preferable to the cost of bringing the item in from Gamestop US as the UPS import admin charges will make this a very expensive figure. If this is part of the Battlefront II launch, it is conceivable the figure will be available in some or all GAME stores on Friday.
