NECA have released the following image of the packaging for their upcoming Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street Part 5. This Freddy release is in their 8" retro scale with tailored soft goods clothes. He comes with his serving platter. The packaging will be a clamshell design which can be resealed again once opened. The figure is due to be released in September, so watch out for it arriving soon at your retailer of choice.

For those without an Entertainer Toy Store nearby, you can now order a good amount of their reduced Star Wars product online. One new addition is the Star Wars Last Jedi 4-Pack of 3.75" figures, which is in stores and online for just £9.99 (£2.50 a figure). THis was a Kohls exclusive in the US, and this is the first widespread release in the UK. Other bargains include The Last Jedi Canto Bight Police Speeder or The Last Jedi A-Wing at £11.99 each. Also £11.99 and relatively new arrivals are the Rathtar and Probe Droid. These are not yet online.

It is always fantastic to come across new stores on my travels. While in Leeds, mini-me and I went over to the White Rose Centre to checkout those Star Wars bargains in The Entertainer. We also came across this brand new superstore, the Magical Wizard The shop is predominantly Harry Potter themed with collectables, wands, clothing, books and jigsaws from the Wizarding World. The store however is dedicated to all things Sci-Fi and Pop Culture and has sections for Star Wars, Marvel, DC and Doctor Who. While there were only a handful of figures - there was plenty of collectables to choose from and it is well worth a visit if you are in the area. We were also made aware of a comic book store in nearby Wakefield. Wakefield Comics 616 has been trading since 2015 and while their wares are mainly comic-books, they also stock the standard collectables such as Pop Vinyl and Diamond Select releases. Welcome to our review of the Marvel Legends Infinity War 3-pack of Thor, Rocket and Groot. We are breaking down each figure in the set and look at the pro's and cons as well as giving them our usual overall rating out of 5. In this part of the review we look at Groot . If you have arrived here after reading one of the other reviews from this 3-Pack then skip the first section on packaging which is repeated Pros : There is some good sculpted parts in the figure Cons : Paint is totally lacking which means the sculpt is not realised at all. Sloppy green highlights only. Tablet accessory is not needed. One of the best "team-up" within Infinity War was the unlikely trio that saw a bruised and battered Thor team up with Rocket and the teenage Groot as they sought out a weapon to take down Thanos. Rather than include this trio in single carded Avengers waves, Hasbro went down the multi-pack route. The set includes Thor as seen in the first half of the movie with his eye patch and black outfit. Rocket who is essentially the figure released in 2017 in the Guardians of the Galaxy wave. And a brand new figure of Teenage Groot. The set comes in a large scooped side Marvel Legend window box that uses the same design colouring as the other Avengers figures. The side panels have Thor at one side and Rocket and Groot on the other. The set was originally planned as a Toys R Us exclusive and is marked up with the silver embossed Toys R Us exclusive sticker. The rear of the box is dominated by an image of the three figures posed in an action stance. To the side is a very short synopsis that talks about the journey of a "blaster-toting raccoon, a teenage tree and an Asgardian god". All three figures are slotted into the inner plastic try without the need for any twisty ties or bands. The accessories are interspersed between each figure and are taped into place. The inner tray sits in a cardboard tray that is an explosion design with a large Avengers "A" symbol in the centre. While we have had previous Groot and Baby Groot figures, this is the first Legends representation of Teenage Groot. The sculpt does capture that sulky look that Groot wears for most of the film. It also includes a sculpted grain effect but very little paint other than the green highlights and foliage on top of his head. The eyes are also a little disturbing being quite large with a huge gold eyeball. I suspect we may end up getting more versions of this figure, and the angry battle head from Wakanda would certainly give the figure a better look for action poses. As it stands, this one just seems to look like it should be posed sulking in a corner. Like the head, the body is well sculpted with tree like grain that work down to the large root like feet. Again, paint is sparse with the odd bit of green. How the figure is screaming out for a darker brown wash to really make it pop - but I guess with that new gun for Rocket and the sparkly lightning effects for Thor, the budget was up by the time they hit Groot. Groot comes with his "tablet" on which he plays games for most of the first half of the movie. This is cast in a translucent blue plastic with rounded edges. Onto this is printed some purple circles to represent the game Groot is playing. The piece is quite soft and while it does fit in Groot's elongated hands it is not a tight fit. I would think Hasbro based the tablet design on the one Groot is playing in the credits scene from Guardians 2. The one used in Infinity War is smaller and not translucent. In terms of the pack I could have forgone this and used the money for a dark wash over the figure. While this is Teenage Groot's debut in the Legends line, it is not the first Teenage Groot figure from Hasbro. They released a basic version a couple of months back with a Rocket figure and side by side there is not a lot of difference in looks - which says more about the Legends version than the cheaper release. Groot has a basic set of joints, 14 in total. The head is a ball joint and rotates, and there is a small joint within the neck allowing Groot's head to lean back or forward. The shoulders move fully on a ball joint, but the elbows are only a single rotating joint and they don't quite bend to a right angle. The wrists are pivoted pegs and these move pretty well. A torso ball joint sits part way down the trunk of Groot and this rotates and pivots forward and back. While the range of movement is good, moving the joint does leave a wider gap in the chest which throws off the overall look. The legs start with ugly looking hips with quite a large gap visible around the groin, These move fully so Groot can sit down, if you wish. The knees are also a single joint and this rotates - but doing so will throw out the look of the legs. The large root like feet are on rockers. The joints on Groot are all quite tight and he stands pretty well in most poses thanks to those giant feet. All three figures look good together - but Groot does stand out a little in terms of paint finish. Groot does look a little short against Thor, but as always Thor is oversized as are all Asgardians from Hasbro. Teenage Groot is one of many crucial characters in Infinity War, it is a shame that he has been a little rushed and lacks some key paint application in his first appearance. I suspect we will see a future release of this figure, and I also think we will see some impressive custom painted version that show how good the sculpt is. The articulation is OK considering the slim arms & legs. The tablet accessory would have been an easy pass. I score Teenage Groot a low 2 out of 5. Checkout the review of Thor from this set Checkout the review of Rocket from this set Taking this set as a combined entity, I am glad that the RRP on this didn't come in at around £60 for the three figures. The set is sensibly priced at around £45 and I think this is fair considering the size of Rocket and the articulation and limited paint job on Groot. Had we been looking at £60 for these three figures, then the scoring for the box as a whole would have dropped considerably in terms of value for money. As it stands the set for me has a stand out figure in Thor, that was then taken too far with that bizarre decor. Rocket, even with the paint variations, is essentially a repack and for me Groot is half finished and is missing a whole other paint application at least. The accessories all feel cheap with basic paint and very rubbery misshapen plastic. While the price is amicable, the contents still don't really make me feel "wow" what a great set - and I score the Thor, Rocket & Groot 3-Pack a mediocre 3 out of 5.

This is the exact same Rocket sculpt as we saw in the 2nd Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 wave in 2017. It uses the closed mouth head-sculpt, and for me I prefer this one more than the shouting Rocket head. The face sculpt is a good match to what we see on screen, and the painting is neat. The eyes are brilliant, with a glass like finish just like a rodent. Rocket's teeth are sculpted and painted to create that snarling look that Rocket does so well. Rockets jumpsuit is predominantly blue with black panels and silver painted clasps on the front. The fur is visible on arms and legs and this is textured with dry-brushed grey on the arms and legs adding depth. The tail is subtly striped and acts as a counter point to stand Rocket. While this is the same sculpt as the Guardians release, the figure has got some subtle paint difference - most notably the darker panels on the suit. The blue too is much deeper. Despite his size, Rocket include 17 points of articulation - although many joints are quite rudimentary. The head is ball jointed but without the pivot in the neck - this means it rotates, but will pop off too easily if you try to get him to look up or down. A similar ball joint is built into the chest and this too rotates but does very little in terms of lean forward or back. The shoulders are ball jointed and have a full range of movement. The elbows are less manoeuvrable and are a simple rotating single joint that doesn't even bend to a right angle. The wrists are jointed in so much that they rotate because of the pin that is inserted into the wrist piece. The legs are jointed at the hip using a ball joint, but it is restricted by the groin section. There is a thigh swivel sitting above a basic knee joint that bends about half way. Like the wrists, the ankles will rotate as the feet are slotted into the ankle with a peg. The final joint is the tail which is ball jointed for full movement. In the main the tail is best used to balance the figure as a third point of contact, but with some patience the tail can be posed out and Rocket still stands upright. Rocket comes with the same two blasters as the Guardians Vol. 2 release. Hasbro have cut back on their paint decor though, going for the cast grey plastic and not the black wash and silver highlights we saw originally. The blasters fit into either hand with delicate trigger fingers which can actually be slotted into the triggers. Sadly, there is no holster or any way of holding these if they aren't in Rocket's hands. Rocket does get a new weapon in this release, the larger weapon he wields when they arrive in Wakanda. This too is cast in its base colour, but gets a line of bronze painted detail down the barrel. As this weapon has been added after the figure was designed, Rocket does not hold this all too well. Any two handed poses looks awkward, and in one hand it looks too big. The best pose I achieved is the over shoulder look which is reminiscent of the first Guardians movie. In terms of scale, Rocket fits in neatly with most Legends - although he does look small next to Thor as Hasbro always over-size the Asgardian characters. The three of them from the set look fantastic together and work well as a set in context to the movie. We review Thor and Groot in separate reviews - checkout the link at the bottom of this review. Rocket, in this set, gets a better paint job than the original release with the darker black panels and brighter blue suit. He also gets a brand new weapon, but at the expense of the decor on all the weapons. Articulation is good for a figure of his size, and he is fun to pose. It is a shame he can't tote his new larger weapon better, but that is a minor niggle and I score this version of Rocket the same as the original release - a 4 out of 5. Thor has done well recently in the Legends figure stakes, with this Infinity War Thor being one of two from the movie and the fourth in the past 12-months after the two versions from Ragnarok. Like the Ragnarok figure, this version uses the face print technology to good effect. On top of this print the eye patch is painted black with scratched details. The other eye is then blanked out to show Thor as he was when imbued with Lightning. To the side of this is painted some silver lightning effects. These are quite subtle, but don't quite work and do look a little bit like Thor has adopted some 1970's Glam-Rock face paint. The inclusion of the eye patch and the Lightning effects indicates that Hasbro were basing this on the early trailer where Thor is aligning the forge at Nidavellir. Of course the eye patch was dropped from the movie, with Rocket giving Thor a new prosthetic eye before their arrival. This can be forgiven as I do like the eye patch version and I suppose you could swap this head with Ragnarok (Valkyrie) 2-Pack to make both more screen accurate. The hair, now short of course, is very nicely sculpted and textured. It is painted a dark brown and then is dry-brushed in a lighter brown to bring out that sculpted detail. The beard section is lighter still but is a touch lob-sided under the mouth. Thor is wearing the plain black outfit he ends Ragnarok with, and as the Guardians find him after Thanos' attack. The whole costume on th figure initially looks like a single black tone, but up close there are some finishing differences and textures. The upper piece is a black gloss, while the trousers are bordering on very dark brown with a more matt finish. The boots are gloss with the touch of silver on each side. The silver paint is more prominent on the chest piece with each of the six roundels painted in silver. Rather than stop there, the silver goes on to draw lightning patterns emanating out from each roundel to simulate that Lighting coursing through Thor. This works even less than the eye and looks again like Thor has some very odd costuming choices - maybe this time from a 1980's WWE superstar? I'd have much rather seen this lightning effect dropped, and Thor given a much darker wash to dirty him up to show him as he was floating in deep space. Being a key MCU character, and a bulky buff figure at that, Thor gets the full range of articulation. There are 18 points of articulation that commences with the head and neck pivot which allows the head to rotate and look up and down by some distance. Under this is a torso ball joint, and while this is not as intricate as the T-joint chest, it means Thor can rotate and lean really well without throwing out the lines of his armour. The arms are ball jointed shoulders with a bicep swivel underneath. Elbows are double jointed allowing the arms to bend back on themselves. From the elbows the arms end with a wrist pivot. Thor's legs are ball jointed at the hips, and this does make them look a little rounded - but gives a whole range of motion. A thigh swivel is in place, but barely visible in the dark colouring of the trousers. Knees are double jointed and the ankles are rockers. Thor stands perfectly well in many poses and all joints are nice and tight. Unfortunately, Hasbro held back Stormbreaker for the wave 2 single release - so this Thor is packed with the Odinsword that previously came with the Thor & Valkyrie 2-Pack from Ragnarok. That accessory was not particularly good, but this one gets even worse. The sword is still cast in a softer plastic and due to the way it is packed in the inner tray, it arrives warped and misshapen and is not easy to correct. The colouring is also pretty basic with a silver blade, plasticy brown handle and black grip. Thanks to that arm articulation, Thor can wield the Odinsword in either hand or in a two handed weapon pose. For me I plan to consign the weapon to the parts box and will choose to display Thor without a weapon. We will look at Thor's teammates Rocket and Groot in separate reviews - see links at the bottom - but here they are together. Each figure is well proportioned to the other although Rocket and Groot as you will see get a bit of short change on articulation. Thor, Infinity War, has the makings of an awesome figure. Sadly the attempt to include lightning effects have spoiled the figure and I'd have much rather have seen a dirty and weathered Thor as seen on his journey to Nidavellir. What we do get is a well articulated figure with tight joints. The paint, whether we like the design or not, is neat and well applied and the face print technology delivers a good likeness to Hemsworth. The accessory is a shame, and is one I could have skipped completely - including Stormbreaker but it would have not been exactly screen accurate, and would have likely impacted sales of the single release. Weighing all this up I am scoring Thor from the Infinity War 3-Pack a 3 out of 5. Mezco have opened up the pre-orders for their next Marvel One:12 release, a classic comic-book X-Men Cyclops - complete with light up visor effect. Cyclops will feature the usual highly articulated body on which sits a sculpted head and tailored classic yellow and blue X-Men outfit. He also gets a soft goods tailored biker jacket, swap out hand options and an X-Men logo display stand. The figure includes a light up visor effect and this works with both heads supplied - one normal, one screaming. You can also swap out his visor to make further use of the light effect - with three other options included with sculpted translucent FX pieces. There is a small wispy smoking visor, a medium shooting visor and an enormous fireball type effect piece. Cyclops is due for a Spring 2019 release and can be pre-ordered now in the US via Mezco for $100 with a $25 non-refundable deposit. The extra $20 price tag vs usual releases has to be down to that light up function. The One:12 Collective Cyclops features a light-up optic power function that illuminates his signature ruby-quartz visor, containing the uncontrollable energy blasts from his eyes. The born leader and gifted hero is outfitted in an aramid fiber x-suit with a utility belt and harness, and a removable leather-like jacket. Cyclops comes complete with a range of visor effects that light up when affixed to either head portrait, reflecting his devastating mutant abilities. Scott Summer's mutant power first erupted from his eyes as an uncontrollable blast of optic force. Rescued by Professor Xavier, he was recruited as the first member of the X-Men - a team of young mutants who trained to use their powers for the good of mutants, humans, and equality.

Our affiliate partner Forbidden Planet have opened up pre-orders for two new Star Wars Black Series 6" figures. The Imperial Patrol Trooper and Dengar were down to be Wave 19 and Wave 20 respectively, but it is indicated now that Wave 19 and 20 have been combined to remove any repacks as part of Hasbro's new strategy for the Black Series - we await confirmation. As with any release there will be solid cases of figures also. There is also a significant reduction in price for these late 2018 releases (applicable to both Star Wars and Marvel Legends across a number of retailers) with the figures now £19.99 each. Number 84 in the MAFEX line from Medicom is the original Xenomorph from Alien 1979, the Big Chap. The figure looks great, although from the images the posing options are not too good as the stances are a little stiff and not what we would want for an Alien display. The figure comes with some neat additions including head options to display the inner jaws etc. There is also an "in progress" chestburster you can add to other action figures - and in the same vein a wrapped facehugger to put on your action figure heads. The Alien arrives in June 2019

Medicom are the third company to bring us a John Wick figure in 2019 following similar figure announcements by Mezco and Diamond Select. The MAFEX version will be a 1/12 scale figure and in the usual highly articulated format of all MAFEX figures. John will come with two head portraits, one normal and one bloody and battered. He has a choice of weaponry including hand guns and machine guns. And will be joined by his faithful hound. You even get a pencil accessory for "that scene" You will be waiting a while for MAFEX John Wick with a June 2019 release date.

Diamond Select Toys have sent out their product solicitations for February 2019, and it contains some better images of upcoming Action Figures. First we have the Star Trek Borg Select 7" figure. The Borg is based on its Next Generation appearance. It comes with a variety of parts so the figure can be customised into different looks including a Klingon Borg - sadly the promotional images do not show any of these other options. Remember those Savage World Retro-Feel Thundercat figures from Funko as shown at Toy Fair 2018? The first four of these are confirmed for an October 2018 release - they will be Mumm-Ra, Slithe, Panthro and Lion-O. The figures stand about 5.5" tall and are inspired by the original Masters of the Universe figures from the 1980's. While an actual release date was not released early Autumn seems to be the ball park arrival. Based on what we saw at Toy Fair this first wave of four will be followed by further waves including Jackalman, Cheetara, Tygra, and Monkian The Thundercat figures join the previously announced Horror Movie Savage World figures of Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Freddie Krueger, Hellraiser and Leatherface.
