The Star Wars 3.75" Vintage collection reveals at NYCC. The majority of these have been seen before, and we'd expect more around 5pm Friday for next panel. The Gamorrean Guard pictured has been confirmed as a "shared Spring exclusive" which is bad news for many and won't be an easy figure to Army Build.

The Marvel Legends event at NYCC 2018 saw the Hasbro team show off some of the figures first announced at SDCC 2018, giving us a better look at some of the SDCC announced figures like Kingpin, Silver Sable, Black Cat etc as well as the Professor X and chair. There were than a selection of new figures revealed from across the MCU and Comic Book based. MCU fans will be happy as both Ebony Maw and Corvus Glaive have been confirmed. This will finalise the Black Order, although it has not been confirmed how these two will make it to market. It would make sense for these to be part of the "First 10 Years" releases or as a stand-alone 2-Pack? For comic book collectors we have Beta Rey Bill who will be a standard release and not a BAF. There is a new Jubilee, complete with 2nd head blowing bubble gum. Night Thrasher will be part of a new Spider-Man wave. Meanwhile Forge will be included in a new X-Men wave, the other X-Men reveal of Caliban will be a BAF in this wave. In multi-packs we are getting a brand new Kraven and Black Suited Spider-Man. There is a second double pack which will be exclusive first online with Entertainment Earth and then in Gamestop stores in the US - this is a Hydra pack of Arnim Zola and Supreme Leader Cap.

At this stage there is only a few early images for the Hasbro Black Series figure reveals from NYCC. The first two new reveals are Obi-Wan Kenobi in Clone Trooper armour from The Clone Wars, and the long rumoured General Grievous. It also looks like the Imperial Biker Scout is getting a single release. The presence of Anakin and Yoda are possibly indications that these may be included in the next Archive figure wave? The Ezra and Chopper figures have already been announced, but good to get a look at these. We should see more reveals around 5pm on Friday 5th

Hasbro have confirmed at NYCC, and then via this article on CNET, that they will be producing a line of 3.75 inch figures from the upcoming Disney XD show Star Wars Resistance. There are 6 basic figures planed and these will retail in the US for about $8, we'd expect UK price to be closer to £10. These first six in order left to right are as follows. Kazuda Xiono, Commander Pyre and Torra Doza Major Vonreg, Synara San and First Order Stormtrooper There are then two 2-pack with Poe Dameron and BB8 and Jarek Yeager and his droid Bucket. These will have a higher RRP of $13, so circa £15 in UK. The figures are all in the animated style of the show with limited 5 points of articulation. This puts them comparable to the Rebels figures we saw around 2014/5. They are due for launch in Spring 2018. It is unknown at this stage if the line will include any vehicles - but looking at the trailer, starfighters seem likely.

Ahead of New York Comic Con, Diamond have shared the updated image of their 2019 Select John Wick figure, and it gives us the first look at his faithful dog which is included in the set. The Mezco booth at NYCC held nothing we had not seen already at San Diego, a repeat almost of the displays of Hela, Thor, Daredevil, Blackbolt and Lockjaw One new item was the addition of Ghost Riders bike to the Ghost Rider figure we saw at SDCC. This addition makes perfect sense for the character and fits into the larger sets Mezco are planning like Blackbolt and Lockjaw. Welcome to our review of Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Mantis is a BAF (Build-a-Figure) and she was split out across the 2nd wave of Guardians 2 figures in early 2017. Mantis was made up of 6 parts spread with pieces included in the MCU figures of Gamora, Nebula, Star-Lord and Rocket. The final two pieces were in comic book based figures of Ex Nihilo and Adam Warlock. Packaging N/A As a Build-a-Figure, Mantis does not have dedicated packaging as such only a slot in each of the 6 figures shown below Sculpt & Paint 3/5 Once assembled, Mantis is a great looking figure until you start to inspect a little closer. While the head sculpt is a good match to what we saw on screen, it doesn't employ the face print technology and is quite roughly painted around the eyes. The skin texture is one tone up through the two antenna. The hair is then a separate piece, and again is one colour having been cast in the black plastic. Mantis' outfit is well executed with the green metallic sections very bright and a good contrast against the rest of the figure. Everything else is cast in black plastic with the trimming in the same green down each leg and onto the boots. It is all done veyr neatly, but essentially the whole outfit is simply one colour on top of black cast plastic. Articulation 4/5 Mantis breaks tradition with most female Marvel Legends figures boasting 20 points of articulation in total - although when you start to pose here the extra ones don't add too much mobility. The head is a ball joint, as is the torso. Both of these rotate and have some forward and back motion also. The arms are ball jointed at the shoulders for full movement, and we then have a bicep swivel where the sleeves meet the bare skin near the shoulders. The elbow also rotates, but is still a single joint which can't quite bend to 90 degrees. The hips are ball jointed too with a thigh swivel underneath. The knees are double jointed which drives an impressive level of leg options. You then by default get extra joints where the boots meet the legs as these also rotate. We finish with ankle rockers, and despite her slim frame and heels - Mantis stands very well Accessories N/A There are no accessories included with Mantis Summary Mantis is a build-a-figure that many overlooked initially and who is now getting a resurgence after her role in Avengers Infinity War. While her popularity is one thing the figures itself is decidedly average in most areas with a scruffy paint job on the head and basic colouring on the outfit. She certainly can't compete on polished looks with say Gamora or even Nebula from the same wave. Articulation is better than normal, with a couple of extra swivels here and there. Sadly the elbow remains single jointed, a joint that holds back a lot of posing on female figures. I suspect we will get an improved Mantis at some point, probably using this sculpt and improved decor, but for now this figure gets a just above average rating of 3/5

Mattel and Target stores (US) have announced this Aquaman exclusive two pack titled the Gladiator set. It includes exclusive figures of Aquaman and Orm in gladiatorial armour. The figures each have trident weapons included and there is a two part diorama base included (not pictured). The set will retail at $39.99 in the US. It is unclear if this will get a wider release outside the US. Welcome to our review of the 2015 Oliver Queen figure from DC Collectibles. This figure was the first of the DC Collectible Arrow-verse figures which would go on to expand to include The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Packaging 3/5 The DC Collectible packaging is a distinctive white gloss shaped box, with the character name printed onto the window box where it turns the corner. In this release the figure is noted as Oliver Queen and not Arrow. The Arrow logo sits central across the bottom of the packaging and this is carried round and repeated on the side spine alongside an image of Stephen Amell from the show. Round the back we have a checklist of sorts for the other figures released in this wave. These are the actual Arrow figure, The Black Canary and Deathstroke. Unlike most other lines, DCC do not add any bio or text to their packaging. Out of the box we have the figure sat into an inner tray, and there is a second tray under this which holds his bow and arrows. Sculpt & Paint 2/5 There is no real likeness to Amell on the figure, and we end up with a more generic male head with blue eyes and a beard. The skin tone is a waxy finish which does work well to give him a sweaty look as we see in the training scenes. The hair is a flat brown with a limited amount of depth to the sculpt. The body continues with the waxy skin, and there are some wonderful decal tattoos applied in various positions. There is also some subtle scarring in the skin across the chest - and yet we then have the bizarre decision to paint the nipples a really odd pink colour? Around the chest is a strapped quiver. The lower legs are shared with the Green Arrow figure from the same wave, and are essentially cast in green plastic with a lighter green trim and black boots. The same small quiver hangs from the belt - again same as the Arrow figure. Articulation 2/5 DC Collectibles are not renowned for being hugely articulated, and Oliver has 16 points overall. We have a ball jointed head with good all round movement. Under this we have a waist joint which is a swivel movement also. The figure is crying out for a chest ball joint or similar to allow him to lean into his bow. The arms are also restricted in terms of bow firing poses as they come with ball jointed shoulders and then a single jointed rotated elbow which bends to 90 degrees and no further. The wrists are also pivoted and yet the joint is at the side and not the usual position top and bottom? Our legs are less mobile with very a two-way hip that can swing out in front and to the side. Beneath this we go straight to a single joint rotating knee. We finish with a swivel ankle where the boots meet the trousers, and a further ankle rocker underneath. Oliver stands very well, particularly thanks to the weight of plastic that DCC use, but the legs will only really allow some stances rather than anything more dynamic like a kneeling pose. Accessories 4/5 Arrow comes with his more traditional bow. The execution on this is impressive with a lot of colouring added around the grip with varying shades of brown with gold and black details. The bow string is real elasticated string so it is thin enough to look in scale and also can be posed in a firing pose. The bow is designed to fit in the left hand, with the right hand designed to hold the bow. While the left hand works well, the right hand doesn't really hold the bow string too well and it is frustrating to not only get the elbows anywhere near a firing position but then to get the hand to hold the string. The second accessory is a bundle of arrows and two separate arrows. These are cast in quite a brittle plastic and the two single arrows are badly warped. The painting again is good with alternating yellow and green flights on each arrow. The bundle is made to fill the quiver, which it does but perhaps sits a little too high. The two single arrows are made to be posed with the bow as though they are being fired, but again this right hand fails to hold the arrow in a firing pose. The third piece is a diorama piece more than anything with the Deathstroke mask totem. The base on this is great as a bundle of stones, painted quite naturally. We then have a wooden post, which is less well painted, and then on top of this the yellow and black Deathstroke mask with an arrow through it. While this looks good from some angles, if you turn it round you will see the arrow is actually bent and doesn't follow a straight line through the mask. Summary The Oliver Queen figure is an interesting choice of release and is quite a brave choice to present him this way at the same time of releasing him in his full Arrow suit. The sculpt on the body is good, but the head likeness is not too great. The level of body detail is great too with the scarring on the skin and tattoos around the body. The articulation is lacking, arms in particular, which will impact posing later on - particularly when you try to get him to fire his bow. Double jointed elbows would have been much better, and they could have sacrificed some of the leg articulation for this? The accessories are nice, one of the best bows released for any archer figure in this price bracket, but the attention to detail on the arrows and the totem is poor. I score the Oliver Queen figure a 3 out of 5

Packaging images of the Gamestop Exclusive Gamerverse Marvel Legend Spider-Man figure have surfaced as we get closer to the December release date for this figure. Spider-Man is going to arrive in a white themed Legends box, akin to the current Venom wave. "When Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider, he gained the powers of a spider and became the crime-fighting Super Hero called the Amazing Spider-Man! With the Marvel Legends Series, both kid and adult Marvel fans can start a legendary collection of comic- and movie-based Marvel characters. Funko have announced another licence to joint their current line of retro style He-Man type figures. DC will join the current crop of Horror figures and the upcoming Thundercat figures. These are very stylised characters from the DC universe with Batman and the Joker leading te charge - complete with battlecat style mounts. Other characters include Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Mr Freeze, Scarecrow, King Shark and Aquaman. There is also a Castle Greyskull type playset which opens up into a Hall of Justice type affair. The line is badged as DC Primal Age with each figure likely to retail around £11 here in the UK. We await more details on the release dates for these.

Diamond Select have confirmed they have tied up the licence for the Netflix Castlevania animated series that debuted in 2017. The Castlevania licence originated 32 years ago now as a video game and made the jump to Netflix with Season 1 in 2017 with a second season planned in 2018. "Beginning in 2019, DST will offer products in a number of different categories, including Select action figures, Gallery PVC dioramas, Vinimates vinyl figures, Minimates mini-figures, resin statues and more. Products will be offered at multiple major retail chains, as well as through independent comic book shops via Diamond Comic Distributors." As well as statues, the Diamond plan for 2019 will include 7" scale Select Action figures. We would expect to not see these until at least Toy Fair in February 2019. We will watch this news with interest. “The Castlevania franchise has a rich, deep history, and the new animated series takes all of it to a new, vibrant, visually superb level,” said Diamond Select Toys president Chuck Terceira. “I’m personally a fan of the show, and I can’t wait to help execute some of its amazing character designs in 3-D.”
