Took a trip to Disney Store (Manchester Arndale) this week to see what we could find. Firstly the new product on the shelves, and I found the new Galaxy of Adventures figures in the Star Wars section at £10.99 each. They sat alongside the Elite Series R4-G9 which I appreciate has been out a while but this was the first time I had seen it. No sign of the older Droids sadly (would have liked a Gonk). Captain Marvel has a new area designated to her and her upcoming movie, with a number of role play and dress up items and these new 12 inch figures / dolls of Captain Marvel who was on display alongside Shuri from Black Panther. These were £30 each. The rest of the item I found were clearance items dotted around the store, and of course these will differ in stores depending on what stock was left. The Select Black Panther (Comic) from a couple of years ago was down to £13. I also found the Leia and Rey Toybox figures for £3 each, and at the same price the Solo Forcelink 2.0 figures - they only had Luke. Finally in the middle of the store I found the Vintage Collection 3.75 inch Star Wars figures at £10.49 each. Stocks were limited to Jyn Erso from Rogue One - then Rey, Kylo Ren, Snoke and the First Order Stormtrooper from The Force Awakens & Last Jedi. These were not being overly cared for either so the cards were getting a bit of stick. I look forward to my next trip once the store re-sets for Avengers Endgame...

The next batch of Hasbro's Transformers Studio Series figures have been confirmed. We start with a stunning new Leader class Optimus Prime who will be number 44 in the series and based on Dark of the Moon. He will come with his trailer and his Jetwing jet-pack. Number 45 is a Deluxe class Drift, who will transform to his Helicopter mode as seen in Age of Extinction. From Revenge of the Fallen is number 47 Deluxe class Hightower, who will convert from the Constructicon to be part of the Devastator. Up last is the KSI Boss from Age of Extinction. He will be a Voyager class release and numbered 43 in the line. He can convert from Robot to Jet. We would hope to see more and possible future releases from Hasbro at Toy Fair 2019

NECA have changed their Twitter profile picture to this new shot of a Predator. The following tweets used the hashtag #LabEscape, which indicates this is a new version of the Fugitive Predator from the 2018 Shane Black movie - and specifically the Lab Escape scenes. We should get more details at Toy Fair 2019

Checkout these new 1/12 Gear of War figures coming in Summer 2019 from Storm Collectibles. Marcus Fenix is due for a June release and comes with two head options, a removable bandana, swap out hands and an array of GoW weaponry. In August we will get Augustus Cole. He will come with his American Football helmet and a similar array of weapons.

Who remembers this image from SDCC 2018? It was from the Mattel presentation about their Jurassic World Legacy collection and showed their plans to release a number of new dinosaurs, including an enormous Brachiosaurus in scale with the 3.75 inch Jurassic Park/World figures. While the future of the line had been in doubt, it now seems Mattel are pressing ahead and the line will be aligned to specific retailer exclusives with the Brachiosaurus being a Target US exclusive. Here is a tease ahead of what we assume will be a full Toy Fair 2019 reveal. UK/Worldwide fans should not worry (yet) as the line and the Brachiosaurus will be offered Internationally. It will of course be with the vendors to order the stock, so while we got the Spinosaurus when the US struggled, we never saw the Mosasaurus on UK shelves. "I want to let you guys know that we are planning to offer a mainline packaging variant for the brachiosaurus for international territories, meaning that retailers around the world will be able to carry the brachiosaurus, even if they have not previously taken anything from the legacy collection. this is still, at the end of the day, up to the buyers and the retailers themselves to support these items at the local level, but know that we have heard you and we are doing everything we can to make it possible for people around the world to own and enjoy all of our dinosaurs."

Here is our first look at the 6 inch scale Karate Kid figures from Icon Heroes. The team at Icon are releasing both Daniel and Johnny from the 1984 classic movie, both in their competition suits to recreate that final showdown at the All-Valley Championships. Both figures come with three head options and alternative hand options for the various Karate stances and moves. Original accessories shown on a mockup at SDCC 2018 seem to have been lost - these were the All-Valley Championship Trophy and a Bonsai tree. "From the hit 1984 film "The #KarateKid" comes #DanielLarusso and #JohnnyLawrence 6 inch scale action figures! Featuring incredible likenesses, a whopping 29 points of articulation and additional heads & hands, these toys are made for maximum poseability and fun!"

With the release of Toy Story 4 this year, the team at Beast Kingdom are whetting our appetite for the movie with the details of their new Buzz Lightyear and Woody action figures from the original Toy Story movie. Woody will come with swap out face sections to give him three distinct looks. There are alternative hands available and he will also have his trademark cowboy hat which is removable. He will stand around 7 inches tall and a display stand is included. Buzz Lightyear will also come with three facial portraits and swap out hands. He also has his flight wings which are removable - sadly they don't appear to be working like the actual Buzz in the film. Buzz will stand a little taller at 8 inches and also has a display stand. The figures are due around October 2019 and the pricing is around the £66 mark for both. Pre-orders are up via companies like The Emporium of Cool

Just ahead of ToyFair 2019, NECA have announced another Crash Bandicoot 7 inch figure. Following on from the first figures of Crash, Jetpack Crash, Hoverboard Crash and Scuba Crash this 4th release is the Aku Aku Mask Crash feature three new heads that themselves feature articulated eyebrows. The figure is scheduled for a Q3 2019 release. "Crash Bandicoot - 7" Scale Action Figure - Ultra Deluxe Crash with Aku Aku Mask NECA’s next release in the exciting line of Crash Bandicoot action figures is an Ultra Deluxe Crash packed with extras! The loveable and only slightly crazy bandicoot comes with an Aku Aku mask and 3 new interchangeable head sculpts, all with different expressions and articulated eyebrows. Crash stands 5.5 inches tall, has plenty of articulation for maximum wumpage and looks like he leapt right out of the game!"

Diamond Select Toys have worked closely with Gentle Giant Ltd. for some time, particularly on sculpting work. In a move to obviously enhance their business in statues as well as action figure sculpt and development, Diamond have agreed a deal to purchase the Gentle Giant assets. What this means is that Diamond will assume ownership of the Gentle Giant product and licences which include agreements for statues and busts from big names like Star Wars and Marvel. Diamond will retain the Gentle Giant brand but will use their own channels for distribution. It will be interesting to see how this develops in the coming months and year. Now, fans can get the best of both worlds, as DST finalizes the purchase of select assets of Gentle Giant, taking over manufacturing and distribution of many of the company’s key lines. Beginning February 12, Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles, LLC, will assume operations for all of Gentle Giant’s existing licenses, and release previously developed and newly created busts, statues and scaled-up vintage action figures. Any in-progress and future products will be offered to retailers through the Previews catalog, published by DST’s sister company Diamond Comic Distributors. "

It was announced last month that Spinmaster had wrestled a large proportion of the DC licence away from Mattel. This was for the more basic lines of £10 figures we had been seeing for the various DC movies and for animated and comicbook characters. The question at the time was where that left the more collector friendly Multiverse line of 6 inch figures, would that remain with Mattel? Well we now know it won't, with the huge announcement that McFarlane have been granted a three year licence deal running from 2020 to make 6 inch scale Multiverse collector figures. "McFarlane Toys has entered a three-year licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer products to produce collectibles based on the DC Multiverse. Starting in 2020, McFarlane Toys will begin releasing 6"-12" ultra-posable action figures based on characters from DC's stable of characters from comics, movies, and video games - along with corresponding vehicles and accessories." This is huge news at a time McFarlane are expanding their presence with new licences for Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and with others big licences "teased" for Toy Fair 2019 reveals. We won't see any McFarlane DC product at Toy Fair, but would expect to start seeing some prototypes in the summer, around SDCC 2019.

One of Hasbro's new licences for 2019 is the Overwatch video game from Blizzard. We had already seen a sneak peak at the 6 inch line back in 2018 when Hasbro shared an image of the first figure, Mercy. We are now teased about the second with this silhouette image shared on the Hasbro Pulse. It appears to be of Tracer (Lena Oxton). Hasbro have promised more Overwatch reveals and product details at Toy Fair 2019
