McFarlane scoops 3-year deal to produce DC action figures

It was announced last month that Spinmaster had wrestled a large proportion of the DC licence away from Mattel. This was for the more basic lines of £10 figures we had been seeing for the various DC movies and for animated and comicbook characters.

The question at the time was where that left the more collector friendly Multiverse line of 6 inch figures, would that remain with Mattel?

Well we now know it won't, with the huge announcement that McFarlane have been granted a three year licence deal running from 2020 to make 6 inch scale Multiverse collector figures.

"McFarlane Toys has entered a three-year licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer products to produce collectibles based on the DC Multiverse.

Starting in 2020, McFarlane Toys will begin releasing 6"-12" ultra-posable action figures based on characters from DC's stable of characters from comics, movies, and video games - along with corresponding vehicles and accessories."

This is huge news at a time McFarlane are expanding their presence with new licences for Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and with others big licences "teased" for Toy Fair 2019 reveals.

We won't see any McFarlane DC product at Toy Fair, but would expect to start seeing some prototypes in the summer, around SDCC 2019.
