  • McFarlane Stranger Things, new Hopper and Eleven

While there were no Stranger Things figures on display at Toy Fair 2019, it seems the line is not finished. This stand at the McFarlane booth indicates we have two more figures to come later in 2019. These will be more figures of Eleven and Chief Hopper. While fans had been hoping to see the line open up with more characters, it is positive to see it does feature in McFarlane's future plans even with the recent addition of several other big licences.

  • Disney Store Exclusive Marvel Select Wasp, Ant-Man & The Wasp

It seems all those "rumblings" about a Diamond Select 7 inch figure for Ant-Man and the Wasp were actually true. This 7 inch Marvel Select figure of Wasp has turned up at retail in a US Disney Store. The packaging shows it is of course a Disney Exclusive, hence why there was no advance announcement. The set comes with Wasp, as well as a miniature version of Wasp and a repack of the mini Ant-Man from the Ant-Man Select release. The only other accessories are a pair of alternative hands. Expect this to star showing up in Disney Stores soon... hopefully in the UK also.

  • Diamond Select, Captain Marvel Select 7 inch action figure

The next MCU Marvel Select is on display at Toy Fair, Captain Marvel in her green Starforce uniform. The figure looks to come with only the masked head, but there is a cat accessory to go with her as well as a bunch of FX pieces that attach to the figure. The base piece, if accurate, is a little lazy as it is the same as used on the Disney Store comic Guardians of the Galaxy figures

  • Diamond Select Westworld 7 inch action figures

One of the new properties at Diamond Select Toys for their Select line of 7 inch action figures is Westworld. The figures are still pending licensor approval, so may change or be tweaked, but we had three figures on display at Toy Fair 2019 and they looked great. Up first was Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood), followed by Doctor Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) and his greyhound. The final figure is Ed Harris' Man in Black. There is also a maze base section on display which comes in three parts - we'd assume these are packed as a build-a-diorama feature with each figure.

  • Mattel share details of Shazam! Action Figures (Spoilers?)

Mattel have shared the promotional images and full details of their Shazam! movie figures, arguably the last they will produce before the DC licence moves to Spinmasters and McFarlane in 2020. There may be mild spoilers in this post.... As is usual form the line is split into a basic line of figures (which Spinmasters will go on to produce in 2020) and the more collector friendly Multiverse figures (McFarlane from 2020). Both lines have started to sneak out at Retail, but here is confirmation of the figures. In the basic line of 6 inch figures we have the main character of Shazam! along with Freddy, Mary, Darla, Pedro and Eugene. Each figure comes with one of the Seven Deadly Sins. In the Multiverse line we have just two figures confirmed. Again we have Shazam! and he is joined by Doctor Sivana. This "less than usual" approach is probably linked to the licence changes with Mattel probably wanting to focus on other licences or the elements of DC it has retained such as Imaginext and the Super Hero Girls.

  • Star Wars Retro Collection Escape from the Death Star game with Tarkin

One of the exciting elements of the new Hasbro Star Wars Retro Collection was the announcement of a brand new Tarkin figure in the original vintage style on original vintage card. There will be another way to obtain this figure, packed with this replication of one of the original Star Wars board games , Escape from the Death Star. This set will be available around May 2019 with a US price tag of $19.99

  • Star Wars Black Series Toy Fair Announcements

Star Wars Black Series fans were left a little wanting after the Hasbro presentation with only minimal news to share about the line. Other than the new Hyper Real Darth Vader, news was as follows... Star Wars Celebration Exclusive of Obi-Wan Kenobi on an Episode 1 card. This of course means this is a new younger Obi-Wan than what has been released / announced to date. To go with this is a 2nd Exclusive of Darth Maul on the same Episode 1 card. This is a repack and potentially why we haven't seen Darth Maul carded in the Archive collection yet as originally mentioned. The line will be given a packaging refresh this year, most likely in line with Episode 9. We will also see the return of the Fans Choice figure, with the decision this year being for an Empire Strikes Back figure, no doubt for the 40th Anniversary of that movie.

  • NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bebop and Rocksteady

The NECA 7 inch line of Turtles has found a home at Target in the US and it looks like the animated two packs are expanding to include the classic villains Bebop and Rocksteady. These are on display at the NECA booth at Toy Fair with the rest of the TMNT animated figures. It was confirmed later on Day 1 that these were the first of a 2nd wave of TMNT animated 2-packs with more on the way later in the year in Target stores. On the subject of movie Turtles it was teased that there is a new 7 inch movie Turtle set later in 2019 including a character not as yet released in either 7 inch OR quarter scale?

  • NECA Alien and Predator reveals

The NECA Alien & Predator reveals were small, but perfectly formed. Up first is the announcement of a 40th Anniversary Collection for Alien, starting with a wonderful looking Parker figure. Randy Falk went on to say this is just a teaser of the 40th anniversary collection and there is more to come at SDCC 2019. For Predator we finally know the figure that will take the 100th figure slot, the Alpha Predator. This is a concept figure of sorts but includes elements of the original 1987 prototype including the armour and the alternative head. And for retro fans, NECA have announced a line of figures akin to the original Kenner Alien & Predator figures. On display we have a Berserker Predator and a Alien Covenant Neomorph.

  • Hasbro Star Wars 3.75 inch Vintage Reveals at Toy Fair 2019

The Star Wars 3.75 inch Vintage collection news breaks down as follows. Hasbro will bring a Jabba's Palace Playset to the line which will also include Han in Carbonite and Ree-Yees. The figures will be carded in the box if you want to display them that way. This set is exclusive to Walmart in the US but should be OK for an international release via your local independent. It is unlikely Asda will bring this into UK stores. There will be a three pack of Jabba's Guards to supplement the Sail Barge. The Sail Barge will be offered to the UK, it seems via eBay in March but we await more info. And to add to the Sail Barge display even further there is a Vintage collection Skiff with flying display stand. And if all that wasn't enough, Walmart will be carrying an exclusive Lando in Skiff Guard disguise.
