- Medicom MAFEX Black Manta and Mera, Aquaman (Medicom Toy Expo)
Medicom are looking to go deeper on their MAFEX Aquaman movie line after the release of their Aquaman (due for release this month). At SDCC 2019 they had two unpainted prototypes on display with Aquaman for Mera and Black Manta. These are obviously earlier on in their development, so don't expect to see these until at least the back end of 2020.
- Medicom MAFEX Spider-Man, Into the Spiderverse (Medicom Toy Expo)
Not to be outdone by SDCC 2019, Medicom are running the Medicom Toy Exhibition in Japan across this weekend. The first reveal from the show is an exciting new pair of figures in the MAFEX 6 inch line. Taken from the Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse movie are 1/12 scale figures of Miles Morales and the older Peter Parker. These look fantastic, and also see the first foray into soft goods clothing for MAFEX. Miles comes with a raft of head options as well as alternative feet and a mask he can hold. - SDCC 2019 Hasbro Power Rangers Lightning Collection Wave 2
The Hasbro Power Rangers panel revealed the full promotional images for the 2nd wave of Power Rangers in the Lightning Collection. The 2nd wave is scheduled for an Autumn 2019 release. The Pink Ranger will come with masked and unmasked head and is armed with her gun - that sits in a working holster - and bow and includes a standard arrow, and an FX arrow piece that is glowing with energy. The Lost Galaxy Magna Defender is an imposing looking figure and is armed with a futuristic sword in a working scabbard, and a blaster. There is a set of alternative hands to hold these with. We also have a blaster FX piece included that may well have been borrowed from the Marvel Legends Iron-Man figures. Beast Morphers Gold Ranger has both masked and unmasked head. He is armed with a small gun and a sword. A pair of alternative hands are included. A Lightning FX piece is included in translucent blue that connects to his sword. Beast Morphers Red Ranger has been unveiled for a while now, but it is great to see him complete and confirm his accessories. Again there is a masked and unmasked head. We have a sword accessory and a Beast Morphers blaster. The alternative hands are a pair of fists. The FX piece clips to the sword to give a flaming/glowing blade effect.
- SDCC 2019 Star Wars Black Series Luke Skywalker, Jabba's Palace?
It seems Hasbro are changing their Jabba's Palace Diorama for the Star Wars Black Series daily at SDCC. We now have Boushh and Chewbacca added to the throne room. These are existing releases, and even though Chewie is no chained - this looks like a custom job for the diorama. We do have a a brand new Jabba's Palace Luke Skywalker facing off against the Rancor - we'd expect this Luke to be one of the announcements at the Hasbro Star Wars Panel on Day 2. Luke is most likely the original Jedi Luke Skywalker body but now has a soft goods tunic and a new head sculpt with face print technology. To reiterate, it seems the Rancor, Bib Fortuna (sadly) and the Droids are all custom pieces for this display. Images from The Fwoosh, check them out for a full gallery

- Character Options teases Doctor Who companions of the 13th Doctor
Al Dewar from Character Options has teased this image of the 5.5 inch 13th Doctor facing what looks like her three current companions of Yaz, Graham and Ryan. We can only see the three new figures from the back, but I can see some re-use in the bodies Yaz looks to be parts from either Sarah Jane Smith or Marth Jones. And the Cutter figure from Primeval for Ryan. I suspect the Graham body will be a re-use also. The Doctor is stood next to her TARDIS, and the Doctor herself seems to have a belt or something around her waist - something not included on the first single card release. I suspect this is a new Doctor and TARDIS set. I am not sure how likely it is that these might just be a B&M set for later this Summer? Otherwise we'd expect a late 2019 / early 2020 release.
- SDCC 2019 McFarlane Fortnite Inferno Skin
After what seems like a wealth of figures since McFarlane obtained the licence, we only have one new Fortnite "Skin" revealed at SDCC 2019. Inferno will join the 7 inch scale collectors line in Autumn 2019. To be honest a slow down may not be a bad thing for Fortnite as the figures do seem to be backing up and resting the line for a short while may overcome this. - SDCC 2019 McFarlane Game of Thrones, Rhaegal
Finishing off the trio, it has been revealed that Rhaegal will be joining Drogon and Viserion in the Game of Thrones Dragon collection. Rhaegal is down to arrive in the Autumn of 2019 Images from IGN
- SDCC 2019 DC Collectibles Batman Animated Series, The Adventure Continues
DC Collectibles have revealed a new series of action figures based on Batman The Animated Series. The new line will be called "The Adventure Continues" and we will start to see figures from Spring 2020. Starting in April 2020 the line will launch with figures of Azrael and Red Hood. May will see the arrival of Batman and Harley Quinn. June signals the arrival of an Armoured Batman and Deathstroke. The first set is completed in July 2020 with the Joker and Robin. - SDCC 2019 Jurassic World Amber Collection from Mattel
Mattel released the first official images of its Jurassic World Amber Collection of 6 inch figures a week or so ago, with promotional images of Ian Malcolm and a Velociraptor from Jurassic Park. Alongside Ian and the Raptor at SDCC 2019 is Owen Grady, a figure we had originally seen at Toy Fair 2019, and Blue the Raptor from Jurassic World. It seems Mattel will re-use dino sculpts in this line and while the images aren't clear I suspect both Raptors will use the same sculpt, just have paint variances. The line also doesn't seem to be using face print technology and sadly Ian looks quite poor from a likeness perspective and you'd be potentially forgiven if you thought this was the basic 3.75 inch version. Owen looks much better, so it may just be the angle of the shot. During SDCC is was confirmed these figures are a Gamestop US exclusive, with Gamestop already opening US pre-orders for Ian Malcolm and the Raptor. We are not as yet clear on the worldwide distribution plan, but would assume the standard fan channel arrangement to the specialist retailers. Images via The Fwoosh, visit them for the full gallery
- SDCC 2019 Mezco One:12 Collective Reveals - Popeye, Bluton, Morbius, Iron Fist, Gambit and Batman
Mezco and their One:12 line always have some fantastic reveals at any major event and SDCC 2019 saw the reveal of a number of new six inch collectible figures. In the Marvel camp we have new comic book inspired figures of Gambit, Iron Fist and a wonderful Morbius the Living Vampire. Morbius is down for a Summer 2020 release. Notable only by its absence is the MCU. I would have potentially expected a couple of Endgame figures or at the very least a new Spider-Man from Far from Home? We may have more reveals to come. Following on from their first Popeye the Sailor Man release, Mezco have two new figures planned - a new Popeye in sailor costume, and to face off against him is an enormous Bluto figure. These are a Summer 2020 release. For DC we have a 1989 Michael Keaton Batman, another Summer 2020 release. And the reveals are rounded off with a Conan The Barbarian. Conan is a longer wait and is down as a Spring 2021 release. Images from The Fwoosh and Figures.com, check out the full galleries at these sites via the link
