The WWE Ghostbusters cross-over figures were announced at San Diego Comic Con, and now Mattel have released the packaged images of the five figures. They will be packed under the Elite Collection banner with special Ghostbusters slimed themed packaging. The set includes The Rock, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin and a spectral Undertaker.

The NECA Guillermo del Toro collection moves on to his 2017 movie Shape of Water. The Amphibian Man was first shown at San Diego Comic Con 2018 as a prototype. The full figure with swap out head, an impressive display base and removable shackles is scheduled for a Q3 2019 release (July-September) The Shape of Water - 7" Scale Action Figure - Amphibian Man NECA’s collaboration with renowned movie director Guillermo del Toro brings select characters from Del Toro’s films to life in premium action figure format with deluxe added elements. NECA have released the images of their packaging for the 5th release in the Guillermo del Toro line, The Amphibian Man from The Shape of Water. Like all the predecessors in the line, the box art is gorgeous and will look great on display. The figure is due to start shipping out to US retailers in early September - expect it in late September / early October here in the UK.

After revealing him at San Diego Comic Con, Mezco have now opened up pre-order for their One:12 Iron Fist figure. The Danny Rand Iron Fist comes packed with masked and unmasked head, assorted hands, a three piece staff and a wealth of FX mystic pieces. He also comes with a display stand. Iron Fist is down for a release between February and April 2020. The One:12 Collective Iron Fist figure is presented in a fitted suit with dragon insignia. The master of martial arts comes complete with two head portraits and a range of chi effects including a Shou-Lao fist effect that is affixed to his interchangeable hand. Iron Fist is well-equipped with a three-section staff that is connected by a real chain. Trained in the ways of martial arts at K’un-Lun, Danny Rand is given the chance to attain the power of the Iron Fist by defeating Shou-Lao the Undying, a dragon who guards the molten heart that had been torn from its body. After doing so,Danny becomes the immortal Iron First and learns how to harness his immense power to save others and fight honorable battles.

Wave 20 of the Star Wars Black Series continued a focus from Hasbro on the Prequel Trilogy and debuted Padme Amidala in the 6 inch line alongside figures of Mace Windu and the Battle Droid. Packaging 4/5 The Wave 20 packaging remains as standard for Phase 3 with the black box and red side spine and backing card. Padme is number 81 in the line and this is planted on the side and rear of the box. The artwork shows a smiling Padme looking over her shoulder but is not the best likeness we've seen in these Gregory Titus cover pieces. The character name - as is consistent with the line - listed as simply Padme Amidala with no mention here, or in the rear text, about her costume which is the one she wears on Geonosis in Attack of the Clones. "Padme Amidala was a courageous, hopeful leader, serving as Queen and then Senator of Naboo - and was also handy with a blaster. Despite her ideals and all she did for the cause of peace, her secret forbidden marriage to Jedi Anakin Skywalker would prove to have dire consequences for the galaxy" Paint & Sculpt 4/5 Since the introduction of the face print technology, Hasbro have been knocking the human figures from Star Wars out of the park recently and Padme is no exception. The likeness to Natalie Portman is spot on, down to the lip gloss, shading around the eyes and the mole on her cheek. The hair piece is not quite as good a match and finishes in more of a bun than the looped braids we see in the movie. The costume is a faithful representation with the white jumpsuit and beige boots and a beige softer plastic belt with holster. The paint apps are limited, with the only real body application being the silver rings on her upper arms and these are not painted brilliantly with the silver not quite covering the whole sculpted piece and leaving white base plastic exposed. The cloak is a separate cast piece in softer plastic with a very impressive textured knitted effect. The cloak can be twisted and lifted off around the head if you want to display Padme in just her white jumpsuit. Accessories 3/5 Padme is armed with two weapons, the first of which is her smaller Q2 hold out blaster. This is cast in silver with a brown painted handle. It is very plain and sits in her right hand or in the holster provided. The second weapon is the Battledroid E5 blaster that she uses in the arena scenes. This is the same gun as included with the Battle Droid and is cast in grey with silver dry-brushing. As this wont fit in the right hand provided, Padme also comes with a swap out right hand with a wider grip specially for the E5. And here lies a big issue for the figure. The initial hand is a good fit into the wrist and is very tight to remove. The alternative wider grip hand is a much looser fit as the peg is slimmer. While it clips into the wrist it rotates far to freely. While the E5 blaster fits snugly into the hand, the weight of the blaster causes the hand to swivel and leaves Padme holding the gun upside down. Articulation 4/5 Padme has a standard count of 16 points of articulation. Head : ball jointed pivot neck Body : mid torso ball joint Arms : ball joint shoulder, single rotating elbow, pivot wrist Legs : ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, ankle rockers Posing is adequate with Padme having the ability for a two handed weapon poses with the E5 - alleviating that floppy wrist - as well as some good firing poses with her hold out blaster. She stands very well on secure ankle rockers and can adopt some wider stances - and can even kneel if you remove the cloak. Summary Padme is a real stunner of a figure and a great addition to the Prequel figures of the Black Series that have been limited a little in previous years to Clone's, Anakin and Obi-Wan figures. Padme has a couple of niggles with that floppy wrist for the E5 Blaster and some paint issues around the two upper arm silver bands. I score Padme Amidala a 4 out of 5. Character Options have been working with B&M Stores since 2016 on Doctor Who 5.5 inch collectors figure sets, and 2019 is the biggest yet with 8 new sets landing in B&M stores in August 2019. Among the three traditional 3 figure sets is a new 7th Doctor Collectors set that revisits the 25th anniversary store Silver Nemesis from 1988 and gives us re-releases of the 7th Doctor and the Silver Nemesis Cybermen. Packaging 4/5 The 2019 sets utilise the same packaging that was launched with the the 4th Doctor set earlier in the year. A sleek blue box with silver grey inserts into which is drawn a TARDIS outline in dark blue. The figures are displayed in a window cut into the front of the box, although on this set this does cut off the heads of the taller Cybermen figures. The window has a gold foil circular sticker attached bottom left that states "Limited Edition". While the set is clearly from Silver Nemesis it is simply named "The Seventh Doctor Collector Set". A checklist of contents sits top right in a circular insert and confirms the contents as the 7th Doctor, Cyberleader and Cyberman. Cut into the window bottom right is a pink insert that notes the 5.5 inch scale and the collectors series. The box is headed up with the latest 2018 Doctor Who logo, although it has been recoloured to a silver/grey. The right side spine includes images of the figures, while the left has the same blue header as the front and the silver/grey panel with TARDIS artwork. The back of the box is quite stark with further images of the figures but no text covering the set and contents, or indeed checklist of other figures available. This is of course consistent with all previous releases apart from the TARDIS sets which go very heavy on Character text. The figures slide out via the top or bottom flap and are sit into a plastic tray which sits into a cardboard sleeve. The cardboard backing uses a silver design, which sadly means the clockwork backing used on the previous figure sets has disappeared. The figures are held in with clear elasticated straps and the guns are taped into position. Paint & Sculpt 4/5 The 7th Doctor figure has been around since 2010 and this configuration without a hat and with the serious face sculpt was first used in the 11 Doctor's box set, albeit in his brown jacket. This particular figure was released most recently in 2014 in the Toys R Us Dalek 2-packs alongside a Renegade Dalek. The likeness to Sylvester McCoy is a good one and the face paint is neat with a good skin tone and detailed eyes and eyebrows. The costume is accurate to the 1988 story, although he did wear his hat for most of the story. Painting on the costume is very detailed too with the question mark sweater and the pattern on the scarf. Compared with the 2014 version, the jacket is now a lot lighter and the handkerchief finish is different. The handkerchief is not particularly well done - it has been painted a flat red and not too well with the red not covering the whole of the sculpted piece. The only other issue is a hangover from the older figures and it is in the legs. When the pattern in the trousers are lined up as they should the feet do turn inwards. The Silver Nemesis Cybermen were among the best figures produced in the original line and were released as a two pack back in 2010. Nearly a decade later these have been faithfully recreated and are actually improvements on the originals with the eyes now painted a darker grey which is a closer match to the on screen Cybermen. Both the Cyberleader and Cyberman are the same sculpt, the only difference being the paint applied to the Leaders handlebars. The handlebars on both Cybers are a little warped out of the box but this should be an easy fix with hot water or a hairdryer on low heat. The chest units are separate cast pieces with white clear tubing wrapping the torso. The rest of the suit is cast in silver with black wash over the top. Accessories 3/5 The B&M sets to date have not included accessories as a rule, so there is a big plus that the Cybermen have had their weapons included. These are cast in a softer plastic in a silver colour with black panels painted on. They are a bit rubbery on the slimmer ends and do not fit all too well in the Cybermen hands - the 2010 sets had the same issue. It is a shame that the set couldn't budget for the 7th Doctor's iconic umbrella. Articulation 3/5 The 5.5 inch line has held the same level of articulation since its inception with only one or two tweaks on some of the newer figures. The Seventh Doctor has 16 points of articulation, but these are quite basic plug and socket joints with the joints clearly visible around the knees and elbows. Head : neck post swivel Body : waist post swivel Arms : shoulder post swivel, bicep swivel, jointed elbow, peg wrist Legs : T-Joint hips, thigh swivel, jointed knee The swivels on the arms and legs do try to enhance the movement options, but once turned they do look very much out of line - particularly the arms. And the arms are also subject to popping out when the bicep swivel is turned. The Cybermen figures carry the same articulation setup with 16 points of movement. Head : neck post swivel Body : waist post swivel Arms : shoulder post swivel, bicep swivel, jointed elbow, peg wrist Legs : T-Joint hips, thigh swivel, jointed knee The neck joints are a little stuck on unpacking and may need some coaxing to get them moving. Once freed they do not move too far to the side, but it can help with some variant posing. The arms can hold the guns as we saw above, but the grip is tentative. Both figures stand well on their own. Summary This is a gorgeous set that gives fans a re-release of the 7th Doctor and two very sought after Cybermen figures. The packaging is great too and a nice new style for the Doctor Who figures that gives them a more collectors feel. Articulation isn't the best in the wider sphere of Action Figures, but consider this is a sub £20 set with three figures and in that context what we do get is very good - especially when you also factor in the inclusion of accessories for the Cybermen. Joining the earlier release of the 4th Doctor and TARDIS are two more TARDIS sets, the first of which is based on the 1984 Caves of Androzani - the final adventure for the 5th Doctor. Packaging 4/5 The set uses the packaging that debuted with the earlier release in 2019 of the 4th Doctor and TARDIS. The design is one of blue with silver insert panels containing a line drawing of the TARDIS. The Dr Who logo sits top left, the new series logo although changed from gold to a silver colour to match the colour scheme. The set is named bottom right and is very specific to the episode "The Fifth Doctor and TARDIS from Caves of Androzani". The figure and TARDIS are visible through a large window that wraps the left hand side of the box. There is a gold foil circular "limited edition" sticker now added to the window along with the usual text inserts confirming the set as part of the 5.5 inch line. The other side spine has an image of the set. Round the back of the box we get an extensive write up of the Caves of Androzani - something that appears to be included only on the TARDIS sets and not the figure 3-packs. "The Caves of Androzani (1984), written by Robert Holmes, was the sixth story of Season 21 of Doctor Who. It was the final regular appearance of Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor. As a regeneration story, it offered some unusual elements, as it was the first regeneration story to allow for a brief scene with the incoming Doctor. Unlike any of his predecessors the new Doctor was given the final words of the story something that would happen again in regeneration stories of the revised series. It was also the first time the Doctor willingly and explicitly underwent a regeneration solely to save a companion. Arriving on the barren world of Androzani Minor, the Doctor and Peri find themselves caught up in a deadly long running and literal, underground war. A substance called Spectrox is harvested there and is both valuable and toxic! Firing squads, corrupt government officials, Android Duplicates and mercenaries are only part of the problems the Doctor and Peri face. After rescuing Peri from the hands of the horribly disfigured madman Sharez Jek, the Doctor and Peri wind up being poisoned by the Spectrox which will kill them if they can't find a cure." Inside the box the figure and TARDIS are held in a plastic tray - the Doctor by clear elasticated bands and the TARDIS being screwed into the base. The tray then sits in a cardboard surround that is printed to look like the baron wasteland of Androzani Minor. The effect is good, but the execution of being able to utilise this after unpacking is not brilliant as the tray will get damaged as the figure and TARDIS are removed and even if you are get the figures out cleanly the backing itself does not stand on its own and will need cutting and trimming to make any kind of backdrop workable. Paint & Sculpt 3/5 The Fifth Doctor uses the original 2008 5th Doctor head and body - the one that controversially missed off the Celery stick from the Doctor's lapel. It is also the same body used for the 2009 regenerated 6th Doctor from the same storyline. The likeness to Peter Davison is ok, and the painting on the face is neat with eyes, lips and eyebrows all detailed. The hair is also darker on this release, having been washed with a darker brown. The cricket whites and jacket are well painted with the stripes and lines in the right place with no substantial paint errors. The same applies to the trousers which are actually more story accurate than the ones used on the 6th Doctor. Te main variation here is the application of a muddy residue on the Doctors right hand side and this has been achieved by a darker brown base coat and some dry brushing of a lighter brown on top. It is perhaps a bit too dark and it also stop abruptly rather than fading further down the coat and arm. We also have a stain on the cricket jumper, this is grey rather than brown and looks too much like a finger print for my liking. While the Regenerated 6th Doctor didn't nail the mud effects, it is a little better than this 2019 decor. The TARDIS uses the well used TARDIS sculpt but is the first to be attributed to the 5th Doctor. The paint job is excellent with a deep but weathered blue that is broken only by the opaque windows and the mud spattered base. The door sticker is clear and crisp as are the Police Public Call Box text panels around the four sides above the windows. This is of course the same TARDIS sculpt that was used originally on the electronic models and it therefore has the speaker holes on the reverse and the battery cover - although this is glued in place. With this and the inner battery workings visible I do wonder how many people may return this as not working? Accessories N/A There are no accessories included in the set, despite the Doctor having a hand sculpted to hold a sonic screwdriver. Articulation 3/5 The 5.5 inch line has held the same level of articulation since its inception with only one or two tweaks on some of the newer figures. The Fifth Doctor has 16 points of articulation, but these are quite basic plug and socket joints with the joints clearly visible around the knees and elbows. Head : neck post swivel Body : waist post swivel Arms : shoulder post swivel, bicep swivel, jointed elbow, peg wrist Legs : T-Joint hips, thigh swivel, jointed knee The swivels on the arms and legs do try to enhance the movement options, but once turned they do look very much out of line - particularly the arms. And the arms are also subject to popping out when the bicep swivel is turned. The TARDIS has opening doors - the operation of which are detailed on the bottom of the box. These are spring loaded and have to be opened and closed a certain way using a spring release button to final close up the TARDIS. As this is the shell of the electronic version the interior of the TARDIS contains the now redundant battery box. It would have been nice to see a cardboard insert of some form to hide all the inner gubbins. Summary It is great to finally have a 5th Doctor's TARDIS in the 5.5 inch line, and the Androzani TARDIS is a great choice allowing the variation of the mud splattered base to be added. While the TARDIS has lost its electronic parts it is a solid piece overall and well painted. The Fifth Doctor is showing his age, being over a decade old now as a figure. The likeness is not the best the line has to offer and the 2019 paint job while neat is perhaps two neat and crisp where the mud splatter is concerned - and I can't look past that fingerprint shaped mark on the sweater. This set isn't the best that Character and B&M have produced, but at sub £20 it is good value and a nice addition to the 5.5 inch line. I score it an above average 3 out of 5. Forbidden Planet have opened preorders for the Funko 3.75" Dark Crystal Age of Resistance figures. The six figures are in the Funko 5 POA style and will scale to their original Dark Crystal figures from a couple of years ago. The wave is made up of Aughra (who is a repaint from the 2016 figures), Rian, a Silk Spitter, Hup, Deet and the Hunter Skeksis. The figures are all due for a release on the 27th of September - a month or so later than the Netflix series premieres (30th of August).

Hasbro unveiled four new Transformers Studio scale releases at the Unboxing Toy Convention in Mexico. At number 49 in the series is a new Bumblebee from the original 2007 movie, this is Bee from the Tunnel scene with his battle mask in place. From The Last Knight and at number 50 is Hot Rod, as seen in the WW2 scenes. From Dark Side of the Moon is Soundwave and Laserbeak at number 49. And from Revenge of the Fallen we have a new three pack of Arcee, Cromia and Elita-1 as seen in the Shanghai Pursuit All of these are Deluxe class releases and will retail in the UK around the £20 mark. They will be 2020 releases.

At the Mexican Unboxing Toy Convention, Hasbro unveiled two brand new comic book Marvel Legends figures that will be released in 2020. White Rabbit, who first appeared in 1983 and went on appear in a number of Spider-Man stories, is the first figure revealed. She will come with her umbrella and what looks like a firing FX piece to clip to the end. We then have the Superior Octopus. This is the Otto Octavius version of Spider-Man who took the Superior Spider-Man mantle in 2013 and was then re-invented as the Superior Octopus in 2018 who is best described as an anti-villain - trying to turn hero, but often mixed up in more nefarious plans and schemes. Both White Rabbit and Ultimate Octopus will be added to the 2020 Spider-Man wave that was already partially announced at SDCC 2019 as containing two new PS4 Spider-Man figures - Velocity Suit and Spider-Armour Mk3, Chang Shi and Vulture.

The Amazon US listing for McFarlane's Mortal Kombat Sub Zero figure has been updated with a stack of new promotional images ahead of its release on the 27th of September 2019. You can pre-order from the US site if you wish, and will be looking at around £26 delivered including customs charges. As yet the Scorpion listing has not been updated.

McFarlane have shared a new promotional image via Facebook of their upcoming Doom Slayer action figure from the Doom video game series. Doom Slayer comes on the new ultra articulated body with 22 moving parts and is armed with a super shot gun and arm blade - which can we swapped out for sheathed or extended versions.
