  • NECA Gremlins Christmas Carol Winter Scene 2-Packs

NECA have announced their next Gremlin releases, two individual packs of Christmas Carol Gremlins - as seen distracting Mrs Deagle while her stairlift was sabotaged. Each pack includes two Gremlins, using the existing Ultimate body, with appropriate winter clothing including a hat, scarf and earmuffs. The first pack has a leather hat, tartan scarf and white earmuffs. This will be the main release and be in stores around October 2019. The second pack see's the Gremlin's sport a blue hat, burgundy knitted scarf and red & white hat. They also come with sheet music, a candy cane and gingerbread cookies. This pack will be exclusive to Target in the US - but should be available generally elsewhere in the world. Both packs are down for an October 2019 release, with a UK price of circa £42 depending on your retailer of choice. "Gremlins – 7” Scale Action Figure – Christmas Carol Winter Scene 2-Pack Celebrate the winter holidays with an action figure 2-pack from the original 1984 #Gremlins movie! Any fan of the Gremlins movies knows the rules: keep them out of sunlight, don’t get them wet, and never feed them after midnight. Fail, and you'll be faced with some pretty sketchy characters, like these highly suspicious Christmas carolers. These 7” scale figures (approximately 6” tall) feature over 25 points of articulation, including ears and jaw. For the task of distracting Mrs. Deagle while a companion makes some “modifications” to her stair lift, they’re dressed for the winter weather, and come with sheet music, candy, and gingerbread cookies. Shipping Date: October 2019"

  • More Doctor Who figures at B&M Stores in January 2020

As we all hunt around B&M for the new Doctor Who sets, it seems we may have more to look forward to come January 2020. Information coming out of the Vworp convention, and in particular a panel with Al Dewar, indicates B&M and Character have big plans for January. This tweet, from the Trap One Podcast, sums up what we know in that B&M have been running on very low profit margins to date hence repaints and tweaks. They now have more money to invest for 2020 and expect very different things come January. We look forward to seeing this story develop further.

  • Review : Marvel Legends Spider-Man Stealth Suit, Spider-Man : Far from Home

The Stealth Suit Spider-Man from Far from Home was released as part of the Far from Home wave of Marvel Legends. This was a standard combination wave of 7 figures, three from the movie and 4 from the comic book series. Six figures from the wave included parts to build a 4th MCU figure, Molten Man. The figure was repacked in September 2019 in a slimline repacked wave, the alternative head was not included in this release. Packaging 3/5 The packaging for Stealth Suit Spidey remains reasonably consistent with the previous Homecoming releases. There is the red character name bar, although the text has changed from white to black. The figure backing is a light blue and this time round it is made up of a white Spider logo that blurs out to a blue pattern consistent with the Spider Suit. The side images are against another light blue backdrop and show Stealth Spider-Man in a knee raised leaping pose. With the other leg cut out of the image it doesn't quite work. Round the back we have the usual checklist for the BAF, Molten Man. The same image as the side panels is used, although this time mirrored alongside a very brief piece of text. "Peter Parker gears up in an upgraded suit to take on new challenges and new enemies" Paint & Sculpt 3/5 This is what seems to be a whole new sculpt for this new 2019 Stealth Suit. The head is textured, almost like a balaclava ribbing with the goggles very much like a night vision head set over the top. Only the eye lens are painted in a bright silver. The second head exposes the actual eyes of Peter by raising up the lens. The eyes underneath are well painted although they are not the quality we normally see from the face print and have returned to being hand painted with a brown iris on white with a thick black line above for the eyelid. The suit and body is well proportioned and is cast entirely in black plastic. While there are no paint apps there are some variations of finish between parts with some glossier elements around the wrists, elbows and feet. The flesh tone of the hands are painted on top of black as Spidey is wearing fingerless gloves. These are a little haphazard and quite dull and dirty with such a light colour going on top of a black base. Accessories 2/5 Spider-Man comes with the alternative head as we've mentioned and also two alternative hands in the usual Web slinging pose. These snap in and out easily. Like the clenched hands the fingers are painted in flesh colour over a black base and do look a bit dark/dirty and in places not quite crisp enough to what would be the lines of the glove. Spidey of course rarely comes with accessories in any form. It would however be interesting to see Hasbro take the theme of FX parts and try some web firing pieces for a future MCU Spider-Man. Articulation 5/5 While Stealth Spidey has been a little disappointing so far, the articulation on this thing really steps it up a few notches. He comes in with a mighty impressive (some may say Amazing) 21 points of articulation Head : ball joint and pivot neck Body : T-joint pivot chest, waist swivel Arms : Butterfly Shoulders, Ball Joint Shoulders, Bicep Swivel, Double jointed elbows, pivot wrists Legs : Ball Joint Hips, Thigh Swivel, Double Jointed Knees, Ankle Rockers Being so slim and with no capes or amour, Spider-Man is a joy to pose and can crouch, kneel or throw punches and webs to your heart's content. He is a little little trickier to stand than some figures being quite slim. You have to balance him on those rockers correctly - but once he is is stood there are no weak or floppy joints to bring him back down again. Summary I was really looking forward to Stealth Spider-Man, prioritising him over the other Far from Home red & black suited release. In hand he is a little underwhelming. While the articulation is exceptional, the finish of the figure is dull and a little messy in the places where they have added paint like the hands and those exposed eyes on the alternative head. I score the Spider-Man Stealth Suit from Far from Home an above average 3 out of 5. See More MCU Marvel Legend figures

  • Spoilers! Star Wars Black Series Triple Force Friday Wave Images Leaked

Images have been revealed, via US selling site Offer Up (user called Manny), of the first wave of Star Wars Black Series arriving on Force Friday 2019. The images have since been shared across social media. This first wave includes figures from The Mandalorian, Fallen Jedi and Rise of Skywalker and the figures are expected to be on sale come the 4th of October. From The Mandalorian, we have the lead character in his armour. And from Fallen Jedi we have The Second Sister, leaked a few days ago, and Cal Kestis with his droid BD-1. It is interesting that the Second Sister is not shown with the circular panel we saw on the previous leak - indicating there may be variant boxed versions. The Off World Jawa is tweak of the original Jawa figure, it is unclear if he will be in the new movie, the Mandalorian or appear in the Fallen Jedi game. The figures we know are from The Rise of Skywalker are pretty much the staple characters we've seen head every launch of toys from the new movies. We have a new version of Rey who is packed with D-0 the new droid. We then have the newly titled Supreme Leader Kylo Ren (with no unmasked head) and two troopers - First Order Stormtrooper (repack) and the Sith Trooper we already knew about. This will be the third version of the Sith Trooper after the SDCC release and the white box first edition.

  • Marvel Legends Worthy Thor Wave, Promotional Images

Hasbro have released promotional images for about half of the 3rd Wave of Avengers Endgame Marvel Legends figures. The wave, now being referred to as the more polite Worthy Thor wave, is made up entirely of MCU figures and these images give us a better look at War Machine, Iron-Man, Vision and the Thor BAF. We would expect to see some more images soon for Valkyrie, Captain America and Heimdall.

  • Diamond Marvel Select Captain Marvel

Images have been shared on Facebook via the Marvel Select collectors group of two versions of the Diamond Select 7 inch scale Captain Marvel. These are apparently sample images from the factory. The green Star Force version has been announced already and is on pre-order for a release in next couple of months. The repainted red and blue Captain Marvel is expected to be a Disney Store exclusive which will be sold only in Disney Stores and on Shop Disney. This version, if the images are accurate, looks to include alternative head, hands, FX pieces and a seated unarticulated Goose the Cat.

  • McFarlane Mortal Kombat Scorpion, promotional images released

Ahead of its release on the 25th of October 2019, McFarlane have released the full promotional images for their 7 inch Mortal Kombat Scorpion figure. Pre-orders are open on Amazon.com, with shipping available to the UK - expect to be paying around £25 including delivery and custom charges. "A leader in the iconic faces for the Mortal combat franchise, “Scorpion” is the Alias of Hanzo Hasashi, formerly one of the finest warriors of the shirai Ryu, a Japanese Ninja Clan. After he was killed by Sub-Zero, a member of a rival Clan of Chinese assassins known as the Lin kuei, Scorpion became a hellspawned Revenant residing in hell (later the ethereal) and seeking vengeance against those responsible for the destruction of his Clan and the Death of his family, including his wife and his son. Although essentially neutral in allegiance, Scorpion will join forces with anyone who can assist his plans for revenge"

  • Marvel Legends UK repacked figures, Tesco and Smyths

We started September 2019 with some exciting news for UK collectors when a set of new slimline repacked Marvel Legend figures started turning up at Tesco stores for £15. A few days after this the same 6 figures arrived at Smyths Toy Superstores for £14.99. It is unclear as to the thinking behind this new repacked line. While it could be Hasbro repacking less desirable figures at a cheaper price to clear - the fact that this only seems to be happening in the UK so far could indicate this is a move to try and get this type of Hasbro product back onto the shelves of the big UK stores. Smyths last Legends on their shelves was back in 2014/5 with the Winter Soldier wave, and they were of course burned more recently with Star Wars Black Series - clearing a lot of the Rogue One and Last Jedi figures out for a fiver. Out of the big supermarkets, most have tried Star Wars Black Series in recent years to varying success. With Asda then stocking the 2018 Avengers Legends, but ended up reducing prices to clear these out. For Tesco this is a new move, but considering they are going heavy on Funko Pops! this isn't completely out of the box. The six figures are all MCU characters and break down as follows... We've picked up a couple so far, checkout our review for Captain America with more to follow... Captain Marvel This is the same Captain Marvel as the main release, but it is missing the alternative set of hands. The alternative head is included. This figure never came with a BAF. Black Panther, Infinity War The Black Panther release is an interesting one. It is badged as an Infinity War release and is made up of the original Black Panther suit from the Okoye BAF wave - the one that was repainted as the Vibranium Charged Suit. It comes with the newer T'Challa head - the one included in the 2nd wave of Black Panther figures (M'Baku wave). Iron-Man, Infinity War The Mk50 Iron-Man was the slowest seller from the original Avengers Infinity War wave. On the surface this looks like a direct re-pack with the alternative hands and FX pieces included. However, this release has the socket on the back of the figure - indicating it is a more recent run from the same mould as the upcoming 2-pack and not left overs from the first Infinity War releases? Captain America, Endgame The Quantum Suit Captain America - another figure that never came with a BAF - is another complete repack. The original figure only came with his shield, which is also included in the slimmer packaging. Checkout our Captain America Review to see more Spider-Man (New Suit), Far from Home The Far From Home suit, another figure without a BAF pack in, is quite recent from the Far from Home wave. It is a direct re-pack with the alternative hands included. Spider-Man (Night Monkey / Stealth Suit), Far from Home Like Captain Marvel, this figure has been adjusted from its original release. The Molten Man BAF is obviously gone, but Night Monkey has also lost the second head option - the alternative hands are included.

  • Amazon Germany list Star Wars Black Series First Edition White Box Sith Trooper

Amazon in Germany have listed this very interesting listing for a First Edition Star Wars Black Series Sith Trooper in white packaging. The First Edition wording has only been used once before, on the debut wave of the Black Series back in 2013. The white packaging is of course also new. If accurate, this is the third packaged version of the Sith Trooper following the SDCC exclusive and the regular packaging (spoilers in link). It also seems an odd choice of words to call this First Edition as the regular packaging is already on sale in Disney stores in the US? The First Edition white boxed Sith Trooper is a pre-order and will release on Triple Force Friday, 4th October 2019. UK collectors can order this directly from Amazon Germany at circa £28 delivered. There will be no custom charges as we are still in the EU (at this point).
