News out of the Mezco booth at New York Toy Fair 2020 has been pretty subdued - although they did reveal two new figures in Thanos and Two Face ahead of the show. In the booth we get a good look at the 1989 Michael Keaton Batman, as well as the Marvel figure of Gambit and Spider-Man. Mezco do also now have a licence for Alien and Predator and had new figures of each on display. The Alien is the Big Chap from 1979 while the Predator looks to be the original Jungle Hunter with removable face plate. Other reveals included a Morbius - an obvious choice considering the Sony movie arriving in 2020 - and a Ghost Rider with his motorbike. The Mezco booth also had a catalogue of future releases, with one page indicating that a Black Widow movie figure is also in the works. DC Collectibles has now returned to its original name of DC Direct and it was showing off some new DC Action Figures at New York Toy Fair 2020. "DC Collectibles is returning to the name on which it was founded, DC Direct. Celebrating this milestone event at the world-famous New York Toy Fair, DC Direct will be showing some exciting new action figures and statues that have never been seen before this weekend!" Joining the DC Essentials 1:10 scale line is a new Justice League set of 6 figures, bringing the original Justice League line up of Superman, Batman, Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman in the 7 inch scale. The Star Wars Black Series focus on The Empire Strikes Back will extend to the Deluxe figures in 2020 with the 3rd general Deluxe Release, an Imperial Probe Droid. The Droid will feature articulated limbs and a display stand. It is packed into a Deluxe Box and is numbered as D3, but in a change to the usual form the Empire Strikes Back classic logo will be used on the front of the box along with the 40th Anniversary logo. Following the release of the Star Wars Black Series Tie Fighter back in 2015 and its subsequent stutter at retail, the vehicles released since have been at a much smaller scale. Hasbro have however now announced a new Star Wars Black Series vehicle, at a slightly larger scale in the shape of the Rebel Snowspeeder. This 1/12 scale vehicle will feature space for 2 Black Series figures - and the gunner, Dak Ralter, is included in the set - with Luke in his Snowspeeder flight suit being released as part of the 40th Anniversary line. Hasbro has confirmed the contents for its Star Wars Black Series Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary line. Like the 40th Anniversary line for A New Hope, the Empire collection will feature 6 inch Black Series figures on vintage inspired blister cards. The assortment of figures includes direct repacks, some updates via the face print technology and a handful of new figures. Wave 1 will land in Spring and is a 5 figure wave. This wave includes repacks of Leia Hoth, Han Solo (Bespin) and the AT-AT Driver. Yoda is essentially a repack of the Archive line with that version having had a face print upgrade over the original. Luke in Bespin fatigues will also include a head sculpt upgrade using the face print technology. The second wave brings us another direct repack with the Tie Fighter Pilot. Lando (Bespin) and R2-D2 are repacked with paint updates - Lando getting face print while R2 is redecorated to his muddy Dagobah look. The two new figures are from Hoth, with a new Luke Skywalker in his Snowspeeder flight suit - a perfect fit to the Snowspeeder also announced. The final figure is the Hoth Rebel Trooper. This figure brings a new feature to the Black Series with a second face plate to give the figure two distinct looks. Coupled with the goggles and scarf accessories Hasbro have confirmed the Hoth Rebel Trooper can achieve 6 different looks. The new face plate is hidden away in the Troopers backpack. I hope that the case assortments are sufficient to take into account the army building nature of the Rebel Trooper. It is unclear if the new figures will get a boxed release in the future? Hasbro are releasing a full Gamerverse wave of Marvel Legends figures, using figures based on the upcoming Avengers video game as well as some fill in comic book characters. From the game we have the previously seen Iron-Man, and he is joined by Captain America and Miss Marvel. The wave is rounded out by The Leader, Mar-Vell, Rage and Mach-1. The wave will include parts to build a new Abomination figure. The Gamerverse wave has a specific release date of the 27th April 2020. We had seen some of the Marvel Legends Age of Apocalypse wave shown off at the back end of 2019 as Hasbro toured a number of Worldwide conventions showing off new figures. Now, at New York Toy Fair 2020, the full wave details have been confirmed. The wave will feature a full cast of X-Men characters from the Age of Apocalypse story with Dark Beast, Jean Grey, Morph, X-Man, Wild Child, Sunfire and Weapon X. The Build a Figure for the wave is Sugar Man, who obviously presented some challenges for the packaging layout as seen in the Jean Grey box. The wave is down for release on the 27th April 2020. Hasbro have shared details of three new Marvel Legends figures, all themed around everyone's favourite symbiote Venom. The Gwen and Miles Morales venomized figures could well be part of a larger wave, but at the moment we only have these images. The Venomized Captain America will be an Exclusive, sold via Walmart in the US. He will feature his shield complete with symbiote tendrils.
