Across May 2020, Star Wars Black Series Fans could vote via Hasbro Pulse on the next figure to get re-released in the Archive line. A shortlist of ten figure, all previously released in the Black Series, was drawn up by combining votes from the main Fan Sites. The final ten could then be voted on by Hasbro Pulse members - which did limit the vote to those in the US and Canada only. I thought it would be interesting to see how a predominantly UK base of collectors would vote - so I ran a parallel vote in May to see where the Brits would go with their voting. Before this all started, Commander Cody was the odds-on choice considering the price the figure raises on the secondary market and how the recent final series of Clone Wars has boosted both demand and prices in the Clone Wars era collectors market. It was therefore a surprise that our vote was topped by another Clone Wars eta figure, the original Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan Kenobi with nearly 21% of the vote picking him as the winner. 2nd place went to another original Orange Line release with the newly named Princess Leia Huttslayer just missing out on top spot with 19%. We stay in the Prequels for the number 3 choice, with 15% voting for Qui-Gon Jinn to get a photo real makeover. Remember Commander Cody, the shoe-in for top spot? He came in 4th attracting 13% of total votes. Jango Fett scraped a 5th place position with 8% ahead of a group of figures who all got a very similar 6% share of the vote. These were the 501st Clone Trooper, Jyn Erso, Ahsoka (now a wasted vote considering the re-release) and Leia as Boushh. And last place? Well that went to poor Greedo who didn't manage a single vote through the 2-weeks we had this poll running. I guess Han voted first? It will be interesting to see if our results are anywhere close to what Hasbro get - they will certainly have a much larger voting base. The Hasbro result is due some time in June 2020. While SDCC 2020 may be cancelled in terms of the physical event in San Diego, the convention is intended to run virtually online. That means a number of planned exclusives will still be avaiable in some format online. Diamond have announced the fist of their SDCC exclusive figures - a special edition of their Iron Giant. This Deluxe set will feature the 9 inch Iron Giant with light up eyes. He includes a darker paint job and an articulated jaw. The figure will be limited to just 3000 pieces. Hasbro have officially released the promotional images for the Marvel Legends Strong Man BAF wave, with pre-orders open across all the usual suspects. The wave will be Deadpool themed and will come with a Deadpool in his X-Men suit (2 per cas) and a Pirate Deadpool complete with hat and cutlass. Hasbro Pulse have shared this image as a teaser ahead of more Marvel Legends reveals and pre-orders tomorrow (1st of June). We are about to enter a new era for the Star Wars Black Series, with a big packaging change coming in the 2nd half of 2020. The Phase 3 Red & Black boxes, that have run since 2015 and The Force Awakens, will cease and a new design will come into play featuring colour coding of the figure in association with the movie. Return of the Jedi releases will be green, Empire Strikes Back are Blue, Mandalorian releases are orange, Clone Wars are yellow and Rebels are purple. The numbering of general releases is not stopping but will be more subtle on the rear of the box. The numbering will also be done by movie, so Ackbar for example will be ROTJ #01 while Vader will be ESB #01. I've updated the Black Series Database with the new Phase 4 figures and the numbering as we know it so far. The right hand spine of the box will be a coloured illustration of the character. Releases from the same movie will combine side by side to create a wider montage. Along with the new packaging for the Star Wars Black Series is a full wave of Rebels figures, in their glorious purple hue packaging. The set features the original Rebels figures, with all of them now updated with face print technology. Joining them is a brand new Deluxe figure of Garazeb "Zeb" Orrelios, and he will also have the honour of being numbered 1 in the new Phase 4 packaging design for Rebels - the new numbering system is done by movie/source. The numbering will match the side montage with Chopper as #2, Ezra #3, Kanan #4, Hera #5, Sabine #6 and Ahsoka #7. This new wave of Rebels is due for a September 2020 release with pre-orders now open. As a Deluxe release, Zeb will come in and a higher price point. Last week we found out about Diamond's plans for a "Best Of" line of action figures from their Nightmare Before Christmas line, with two three figure waves confirmed for an Autumn 2020 release. Joining them is a re-release of the Deluxe Oogie Boogie figure. This 8 inch version of Oogie has long since sold out, so a re-release opens up new collectors to an opportunity to have this figure in their collection. We are also getting a Jack Skellington figure box set with three Jack figures included. Again, these are re-releases along the "Best Of" lines. We have a classic Jack, Pumpkin King Jack and Jack as Sandy Claws. The first two of these also feature in the first two waves of repacked figures, with the Sandy Claws seemingly unique to this set at the current time. Diamond Select Toys have confirmed they will be re-releasing two former Disney Exclusive Marvel Select figures as general releases in Winter 2020. Diamond's Nightmare Before Christmas line of Select Action Figures is approaching it's 10th Series and to celebrate the Diamond Select team are going to re-release some of the most popular figures in the line in a new "Best of" Series. The first wave of Best Of figures will include Jack, The Mayor and a three pack of Lock, Shock and Barrel. The 2nd wave will feature Pumpkin King Jack, Sally and Dr. Finkelstein. These repacks will be packed in a window box rather than the Select Blister Cards and the figures will not come with diorama pieces this time round.
