After the build-up, hosted by Judith Hoag on her YouTube channel, the NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990 movie Ultimate April O'Neil figure has been revealed. The April figure will feature April with two head options, her handbag, reporters microphone, Sai, and a stack of pizzas (not shown in the full contents image). There is also a limited Signature Edition which adds in the more iconic yellow raincoat as well as a 1:1 scale press pass signed by Judith. Both figures went up for preorder, for a 2-week limited period, via the NECA store for both US and International shipping. The Signature Edition was limited to 2000 units and sold out in the first hour, with collectors only getting a few hour's notice of the preorder. The figure will ship in August 2021, and the standard version will still hit Walmart stores in the US at a later date. The promo images released by NECA also contained a tease of a new and now unmasked Casey Jones figure. NECA have said more will follow on this new release in good time. After a handful of teaser images, Super7 have now shared the full details of their Wave 5 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultimates figures. The next wave will feature Leonardo as the Sewer Samurai complete with a full range of weaponry, two head options, and swap-out hands. We then have Krang, direct from Dimension X, who features two heads that can be interchanged with the life support system. There are then alternative tentacles, robotic arms with alternate hands, and the brain-drain gun. Ray Fillet will come with his side-kick, Fish Stix,. He is armed with an anchor, starfish, and the Ray Gill Gun. An alternative head and swap-out hands are also included. And finally, we have Leatherhead, who is packed with a shotgun, bear trap, fishing rod, assorted fish and crustaceans, and alternative hands. All four figures also give a nod to the original 1980's Turtle figures with the inclusion of an unpainted weapon rack sprue in the packaging. The packaging itself is a window box with an outer sleeve. Like all Super7 figures, the wave is produced to order. You can preorder the figures or full set until the preorder window closes on the 27th May 2021. The wave is then due to ship in the 2nd Quarter (April - June) of 2022. Hasbro's latest Marvel Legends Fan Live Event was held on Monday the 26th of April, 2021, and included the full reveal of the new Marvel Legends Disney+ wave of figures. Details about the wave had been on a drip-feed via the 'Must Have Marvel' product launches on Marvel.com following each episode of Wandavision and then into The Falcon & The Winter Soldier. Marvel Legends figures of Wanda in the full Scarlet Witch costume, White Vision and Baron Zemo had already been confirmed and pictured. The full-wave is now revealed and joining these three announced figures are three more figures from The Falcon & The Winter Soldier. First is the John Walker as US Agent, this is a variant to the standalone John Walker as Captain America and features the darker US Agent costume and no shield. We then have a new Bucky Barnes Winter Soldier, and this looks to finally be a new sculpt and not a tweak or adjustment to that 2014 Winter Soldier base. The final figure is of course the Sam Wilson Captain America who looks awesome in his new costume. The wave is rounded out by Loki from his upcoming Disney+ show. Loki is seen in his more causal shirt/tie look as seen in the Loki trailers to date - so not a spoiler as such for the show. The BAF for the wave will be the wingsuit for the new Captain America figure, along the same lines as the 2017 release of the wingsuit for Vulture. The wings are split across 6 of the figures, with Sam himself coming without a BAF part. The BAF includes the stand for the wings and a Redwing drone piece that connects at the back. The wave is down as a Spring 2021 release on the press details, with retailers quoting between June and August for the actual arrival. The figures are up for pre-order as of 6pm on the 26th of April including at our good friends Kapow, and at our affiliate partners Zavvi and Forbidden Planet. The Hasbro Pulse Marvel Legends Fan Stream on the 26th of April 2021 finished with a couple of teases for new Marvel Legends figures to look forward to from the comic books. The team showed off a new classic Hercules figure. And there was a lot of talk about Fantastic Four, with a new Johnny Storm / Human Torch with a new costume colour pallet. This was linked very much to the teased HasLab Fantastic Four project and they alluded to other Fantastic Four figures in this classic colour costume. We have seen teaser images of what we assume is a Leonardo in Samurai Armour, a Krang, and now this image which looks very much like Leatherhead... The Marvel Legends wave for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has gone up for sale, with stocks available immediately from many retailers. These listings have now given us full detail of the two non MCU figures in the line, Civil Warrior and the Tony Stark AI. Both figures were talked about and shown at a Hasbro Pulse Fan Stream in early 2021. With the release of the full product details and gallery, we can see that the Civil Warrior is a Gamerverse release and aligned to the Contest of Champions game. The Tony Stark AI is a comic-book release and features a holographic Tony Stark head for use on a classic Iron-Man body. The figure also comes with an alternative head if you prefer the Iron-Man suit look. And there are also alternative hands and repulsor effects. At midnight on the 25th of April, the new Marvel Legends wave for Shang-Chi and the new Mr Hyde BAF went up for sale around much of the world, including here in the UK. In conjunction with the release of the new Mortal Kombat movie, Iron Studios have shared details of new Art Scale 1/10 Statues from the original video game. Sub-Zero is modeled in his ice blue outfit and is sculpted holding up a detached skull and spine of one of his victims. He will be a Quarter 4 release for 2021. Having the ability to control the cold in different ways, the blue-and-black-dressed ninja prepares to fight, leaning on the steps of the base of a temple in Outworld, his devastated world, where the skulls of ancient fallen warriors share space with sharp translucent ice stalagmites at his feet. While invoking his freezing power with his right fist, he makes any opponent's blood freeze just by displaying, in his left hand, what remains of those who challenged him before. The temperature drops as tempers heat up, with one more of Mortal Kombat's most famous characters arriving to expand the collection with the "Sub-Zero Art Scale 1/10 Statue - Mortal Kombat - Iron Studios", another one of the few original characters present in each version of the games, alongside Scorpion, he was the character that most appeared in all versions of Mortal Kombat and is added to the collection along with Raiden, Goro, Shao Kahn, and his rival Scorpion, in the MK line, from Iron Studios. In the franchise's history, two men assumed the identity of Sub-Zero, the first was Bi-Han, Scorpion's great rival and responsible for his death, the second is his brother Kuai Liang, both members of Lin Kuei, a Chinese clan of Outworld ninjas. During the tournament, Bi-Han was killed by a vindictive Scorpion and resurrected as a ninja specter, and the cycle of revenge is perpetuated when Kuai Liang, who also dominates the cold element, takes his brother's place as a second Sub-Zero to eliminate Scorpion. From the depths of the Netherrealm realm, the infernal underworld of Mortal Kombat, one of the most cultured and legendary warriors, resurfaces in search of revenge. As the Godzilla franchise headed towards the Godzilla vs Kong movie in 2021, the licensing rights outside of Japan moved from NECA to Playmates and a new line of 6-inch sized Kaiju were revealed - both to tie in with the movie, but also from the Toho back catalog of Godzilla movies. The Playmates line of Legacy Godzilla figures would use existing molds from Bandai America, re-releasing several figures from the soft PVC Movie Monster series such as Destroyah and Space Godzilla. There would however be new additions, and one of these is the 2004 Gigan from Final Wars. The new Playmates figures utilise an open cardboard packaging with a front tray holding the figure and a backing card. A generic Godzilla logo dominates the front of the box against a flaming background with the character name sitting underneath, this is repeated on the two side panels. Gigan is listed with a year from which he is based - 2004 - but the Final Wars movie itself is not referenced. The figure is held into the tray by way of two plastic ties over the feet, one over the tail, and a longer strap across the body. The head is kept in place by way of a shaped clear plastic tray. The backing card itself features a Godzilla, and a backdrop of a burning city. The back of the card features pictures of other figures in the line alongside Gigan on a scorched desert surface. There is no background info, which is a shame for collectors who may want to explore the background of Gigan and see him in action. These Playmates figures, like Bandai America before them, are a soft hollow PVC sculpt so in hand Gigan is pretty lightweight. He is very well sculpted and much better than the softer features of Destroyah or Space Godzilla who are part of the same wave. The head sculpt is crisp with the metal attachments and horns, and down these extend down the back of the head to the three soft plastic red wings which themselves are trimmed in an electric blue colour. The body is reminiscent of a Xenomorph from Aliens, with ridged black glossy sections and overlapping carapace pieces. The arms end in metal claws coloured in silver, while the legs have armour panels applied to the knees and feet. The tail too is armoured and ends in another wicked looking three-pronged spike. Gigan certainly looks the part, but he is not brilliantly articulated with just basic swivel joints at the shoulders and the top of the legs, with a further rotation point on the tail. There is a neck joint but this does not move. This essentially ties you into one stance, as seen in the photos, and then an ability to raise the two arms. It is a real shame a rotation could not have been included at the point the arms turn to the metal claws. This is made worse by Playmates putting each arm on at different orientations, one is to the side and one is upright. These Playmates figures retail here in the UK at £14.99 and for that price they are pretty well sized, with Gigan standing the same height as a 7-inch NECA Godzilla. It will be interesting to see the comparison between the figures as the newer Playmates sculpts like Gigan are already looking infinately better than the ones from Bandai America casts. Considering that NECA were unable to make any other Toho Kaiju in their line, this new Playmates line is certainly welcomed by fans, and I look forward to seeing how it develops. The Icon Heroes teaser image earlier this week has been confirmed as a new 6-inch Johnny Lawrence figure in the white Cobra Kai gear from the Dojo training scenes in the original Karate Kid movie. The figure will come with four head options with varying expressions and one with a bruising. There are alternative hand options as well, with a pair holding referee flags. The figure was planned as a 2021 Convention Exclusive, but in the absence of most major Conventions, Icon Heroes are now offering this as a direct order on their website. The figure is in stock now and is available while stocks last. Icon Heroes presents the 6-inch scale Johnny Lawrence Cobra Kai Dojo action figure from the classic film The Karate Kid. Johnny is seen here in his Cobra Kai training gi, becoming an All Valley champion under sensei John Kreese. Little did he realize he would soon be beaten on separate occasions by Mr. Miyagi and Daniel LaRusso.
