The Hiya Toys Godzilla MonsterVerse collection continues to grow with the reveal of this new MUTO as seen in Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019). The Exquisite Basic release will stand 15cm tall and has been built using the original CGI data. It includes full articulation, including the jaw. The MUTO will be a quarter 2 (April-June) release in 2027 and available as a general release in all territories apart from Japan. In the film King Ghidorah is first seen frozen in Antarctic ice at Outpost 32. He was freed by Emma Russell and Alan Jonah's team as part of their plan to manipulate the Titans and renew the world's ecosphere.Proving impossible to control King Ghidorah with the ORCA, he temporarily succeeded in usurping Godzilla's dominance, spontaneously awakening the other Titans and commanding them to begin destroying both humanity and the world's ecosystems. "Cybermen, from cyberspace. Now why has no one ever thought about that before?" The Doctor Who Vortex Collection launched in 2024, the first significant change in the long-running 5.5-inch collectors series since it started in 2005. The Vortex figures are exclusive to Character Toys themselves and not sold at retail. They include either updated decor, updated articulation, updated accessories, or a mixture of all three. In 2026, the Vortex Edition regenerated further with the announcement that Character was bringing back the Collect-and-Build format for the first time since the 2010/11 Pandoric build and with the first Collect-and-Build figure since the 2009 releases of The Gelth and the Wasp. This 2026 wave would feature figures from across the Whoniverse, Classic and New, and with parts that would assemble a 1967 figure of The Yeti from The Abominable Snowmen. The first of the five releases in this Yeti wave went on sale at the very end of June, with most collectors who ordered on the first day getting the item delivered by the 1st of July in an outer cardboard shipping box. The set features two Cybermen in the design that was used initially for the 11th Doctor story Nightmare in Silver, and then again for the 12th Doctor for Dark Water. It is from this latter 2014 story that the set is based. The Vortex Edition packaging remains in place for the Dark Water set with a square window box with one angled corner to the right-hand side. The base colouring for the box is white and uses a TARDIS icon to the bottom left-hand side. Around the main window is a coloured vortex, with the colour of this design specific to a particular Doctor. This is the first time this salmon colour has been used, and it is now aligned as stated in the diamond callout towards the base of the box to the 12th Doctor. Similar diamond callouts are used around the window to specify the scale at 5.5 inch, the accessories, and to call out the Vortex Edition’s enhanced Decor. The set name of ‘The Cybermen from Dark Water’ sits on the base white rail of the box front, and just above this, and new for obvious reasons for this release, is the Collect-and-Build icon showing the outline of the Yeti and confirming this set contains the Yeti’s head. The Doctor Who logo used on the front and sides of the box is still that of the 60th Anniversary. And this is also used on the back alongside the in-depth background text that talks at length about the history of the Cybermen in Doctor Who and the plot of Dark Water. The bottom third of the box is turned over to the new Collect-and-Build graphics, with more text outlining the plot for The Abominable Snowman and then explaining the assembly of the Yeti from parts spread across the five individual releases for this wave. When you open the box, you get your figures and Yeti head packed into an inner plastic clear tray with the two Cybermen tied into position with two cotton ties. The alternative arms are taped into position, while the Yeti head simply utilises its shape to hold into its socket. This inner tray sits into an enclosed backing card piece that replicates the scene in Dark Water with the floating skeletons in the 3W Institute Mausoleum. This is an illustrated piece rather than a screenshot and uses forced perspective to good effect. Its use as a background piece for the loose figures is debatable, with the outer frame simply plain cardboard and with visible tape where it is assembled together. Our Cybermen are brand new, the first time this Nightmare in Silver design has appeared in 5.5 inch and finally solving the itch created in 2013 when the line moved briefly into a 3.75 inch scale which included these Cyberiad Cyberman figures. Both figures are identical and use a similar principle to the Cybus Cyberman figures with a silver cast outside armour and a darker grey connecting piece at each substantial joint like the knees, hips and shoulders. The outer shell of the Cyberman is ridged and segmented, as seen on screen, and inclusive of the central chest unit, which has a white inner section and a sky blue surround. Around the back of the figure, this detail extends to a skeletal central spine with overlaid sections. The head includes cut-out eye and mouth slots with the recess painted in dark grey. The handlebars extend up and over the head, connecting at the top ridge and inclusive of some very intricate sculpting with ridges up the shaft and across the cross piece. Scale-wise, they stand at just under 6 inches in total, giving them a presence and an extra half inch or so of height on contemporary character figures like the 12th Doctor or Missy. Articulation is fully overhauled for this newly developed Cyberman base, moving away from the very visible pinned joints to a pinless solution with a total of 14 points of articulation in total, all enhanced and modern in their execution. The legs feature an ankle rocker for stability as well as a ratcheted knee and a ball joint hip. While our Cybermen can’t sit as such, you can articulate the legs for wider stances in battle or even marching positions. The upper body includes a ball-jointed torso with full rotation and some small degree of forward and backwards lean. The neck is ball-jointed, allowing the head a similar level of rotation and tilt. The arms now include a ball shoulder, rotating elbow joint, and a wrist swivel. The arms are, however, a little bit restricted by the armour design, with the shoulders difficult to raise as the shoulder armour clashes with the chest. The elbows too do not bend as extensively as the older models thanks to more armour clashes between upper and lower arm. The elbow joint also serves the function of allowing both Cybermen to be upgraded to Weapons Ready mode. The right elbow pops off to remove the right forearm, and the set then includes two ‘gun arms’ to insert in their place. The engineering here is fine; the arms pop on and off without any hassle. The gun arms simply add the extended forearm gun to the base arm as though it were revealed and ready to fire. When everything is put together, the Dark Water Cybermen are much more extensive in their movement than the older format Doctor Who figures, benefiting from a more rounded range from each joint than a single directional movement. The joints are specifically ratcheted like, say, a Hasbro Collector figure, but out of the box the joints are smooth yet robust, holding poses perfectly well. The Yeti is still some months away from final assembly, but if the included head is anything to go by we are in for a treat. The textured fur is great, as is the paintwork fading across from darker fur around the face to the lighter brown to the sides and back. At £44.99 with free postage, you are getting two 6-inch collector series figures at £22.50 each. That is comparable to Hasbro Collector lines, although it has to be said the articulation is not quite on par. The added Yeti head also provides added value, but also ties collectors into buying the set even if they only collect Classic Who figures - the secondary market should equalise here with Yeti heads readily available thanks to Army Builders or those who only collect New Who. Extra Cybermen may also be plentiful, perhaps later on in the series, when the Classic Who-focused collectors build their Yeti and sell through the figures that don’t fit their focus. A solid start, and very worthy of the principles of the Vortex Edition title. NECA has revealed another new horror-themed Christmas figure with this 7inch release of Santa Leatherface. From the preview image, we can see that the figure includes a removable Santa hat, as well as a cleaver. "Tell your Council that the first battalions are ready, and remind them, if they need more troops, it will take more time to grow them." The Star Wars Black Series Fan Channel Wave releases across 2025 were very much influenced by the Star Wars prequel trilogy, and expanded our characters for display with the likes of Bariss Offee, Shaak Ti, and Sebulba. The first Fan Channel Wave of 2026 continues that focus, with a trio of figures who appeared in Episode 2, Attack of the Clones. The wave featured a debut for Watto, as well as a new Geonosian Warrior. The third figure was another debut for both species and character with the release of the Kaminoan Administrative Aide Taun We. Taun We arrives in the standard matt black box, and uses the red highlight colour as assigned to Attack of the Clones. This red tone is used on the front text to confirm the character name and source, and around onto the side art showing Taun We with her tablet in hand against a backdrop of the Kaminoan City and driving rain. The figure is number 13 in the Attack of the Clones Galaxy collection, and this side artwork follows on from Watto from the same wave. The back of the box uses the same red-hued image and a short background piece that covers some top-line details about Taun We herself and her role as Aide to the Prime Minister of Kamino, and her role introducing Obi-Wan Kenobi to Jango Fett. With the box opened, Taun We and her sole accessory are set into the standard inner tray and against a cardboard backdrop. This backdrop is red to align with the rest of the box and also features an image of the Kaminoan city against the raging sea and sky. As the first Kaminoan in the Black Series, Taun We is entirely new and built to replicate the CGI aliens from Attack of the Clones. This means she stands considerably taller than the standard 6-inch figures, almost 7 inches tall. She is assembled with a slim, elongated torso in off-white, simply patterned and shaped. From this, we have long slim arms in a purple textured plastic, with darker purple trim, to replicate that part of her outfit, and these then switch to long three-fingered hands in white. The neck similarly starts with a wrapped purple effect and then opens to the white skin-toned head. The head features painted eyes, a tiny mouth and a tiara-style head adornment in gold colouring with a hanging side tassel and to the opposite left-hand side, her oval earpiece as seen on screen and in the Clone Wars animated appearances. The lower body starts with a sculpted skirt with inset grey panels with a darker grey border, and lighter grey centre. This belt holds the soft goods skirt in place, with the skirt itself a purple material similar to that of Jedi robes, but with coloured cream patterns and trim. This skirt sits over a pair of sculpted slim Kaminoan legs, white in colour and featuring a high-set knee, extended raised ankle and relatively stubby feet which have a grey sole painted over the white base colour. Taun We has 18 points of pinless articulation, mirroring the main joints of Kaminoan anatomy we see on screen. This includes joints at the top and bottom of her neck, allowing the head to rotate and tilt while the neck can also be moved around, such as in a bowing motion. Beneath this, the arms include, despite the slim profile, a pair of butterfly shoulders along with the usual elbow and wrist joints. This gives Taun We the ability to have her arms extended outward and upward, with a bend at the elbow that goes well beyond 90 degrees. Ball joints are situated in the torso and waist, allowing the slim but elongated torso to bend and lean as required. The legs, sat under the skirt piece, have a standard hip joint, with higher positioned knees that bend to a right angle as needed. The ankles have a wide range forward and backward with tilt to the side to position the feet flat to the floor. There is, however, a stability issue considering the size of the feet and the height of the figure, and while Taun We can be posed standing, staying in that position will probably require an aftermarket stand and use of the peg holes in both feet. There is a solitary accessory in the shape of her datapad. This is simplistic in design, almost a flat piece of grey plastic with no discernible buttons or features other than a recessed screen that appears to then have a grey sticker applied. There is nothing displayed on the sticker. Round the back of the tablet it gets a bit more interesting with a shaped back and a visible bent or dataconection to the base. The tablet sits in Taun We’s long slim fingers rather than being held securely by a grip. There is just about enough in the left hand in particular to keep the datapad in place, but like the figure itself, the slightest movement or knock will see the piece dislodged. The Taun We Black Series release does a relatively good job of replicating the Kaminoans we see on screen, but as these are scaled down to 6-inch areas, the face and the adornments are less defined and can look a bit simplistic. The costume is good, mixing the purple with its darker trim, with the white and cream of the upper torso and the soft goods skirt. The skirt itself works fine as a soft goods solution and while it allows a broader level of leg movement, the legs themselves are always going to be kept in a neutral position thanks to their lack of stability, but also the fact that the Kaminoans themselves are rarely seen doing anything other than standing, walking gracefully or occasionally sitting. I am not sure that the Taun We design will allow further Kaminoan releases, as characters like Lama Su and Nala Sa have different looks in both their head sculpt likeness and costume. What I do hope is that the arrival of Taun We might facilitate a future release of young Boba Fett to display alongside his father Jango. NECA's latest Turtle figures are taken from the crossover with Fortnite, and we now have our first full look at Leonardo and Raphael. These 7-inch Turtles each come with an extra pair of hands and their signature weapons. Leo will feature his twin katanas, while Raphael has twin Sai's. NECA have already unveiled their Fortnite crossover figures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Shredder, and now we've got a preview of three new Fortnitemares figures. These are based on classic horror icons who have appeared as playable skins in Fortnite, and they include Halloween's Michael Myers, Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Billy the Puppet from Saw. Michael Myers from Halloween will come with extra hands as well as Stab-O-Lantern back bling that connects to the figure magnetically. Hasbro has revealed its Star Wars Black Series 'Holiday Edition' Offerings for Halloween 2026 with three new themed figures. They start with the Halloween Mon Calamari, which uses the Admiral Ackbar figure, repainted to pay homage to the Creature from the Black Lagoon. He comes with a repurposed Gungan staff/spear and a repainted Sakavian, which was originally Skoova Stev. The second release is the Torguta Halloween figure, reimagining the Shaak Ti figure as The Bride of Frankenstein. She comes with a green decor Porg and a staff with an electro effect taken from the upcoming Droids Stormtrooper figure. The set is concluded with a Halloween Tusken Raider, designed to look like the Invisible Man, complete with hat accessory. The set also includes a repainted tablet as recently included with Watto, and a black and white BD droid. These 2026 Halloween releases come in updated window box packaging, now featuring artwork and design that also pays homage to the classic 50s horror movies. “Mind tricks don't-a work on me, only money! No money, no parts, no deal!" The Star Wars Black Series Fan Channel Wave releases across 2025 were very much influenced by the Star Wars prequel trilogy, and expanded our characters for display with the likes of Bariss Offee, Shaak Ti, and Sebulba. The first Fan Channel Wave of 2026 continues that focus, with a trio of figures who appeared in Episode 2, Attack of the Clones. The wave featured the first Black Series Kamoinoan, Taun We, as well as a new Separatist ally the Geonosian Warrior. The third figure was another debut as Watto the Toydarian joined the line. Watto, like Taun We and the Geonosian, arrives in the matt black window box with red accent colouring that is used on the front text and the artwork. There is an immediate issue here, as Watto, in terms of his look, is the younger Watto from Episode I, The Phantom Menace. When you look at the box, there are further clues to the actual origin for Watto with the side art showing Watto against the background of the Mos Espa Pod Racing arena and track. And when we arrive at the back of the box, and the background text, this talks about Watto as the owner of Shmi and Anakin Skywalker and how he sponsored Anakin in the pod races, but often bet against him. Again, this is very much aligned to Episode I rather than Attack of the Clones. The cardback, which sits behind the plastic tray inside the box, similarly uses the red hue, but the imagery is again the Mos Espa Pod Race Track. mocked up AI image of Watto in Phantom Menace themed packaging (right) While Watto is obviously mis-placed and we should really be seeing him (as per this AI-supported image) in the yellow of The Phantom Menace collection, we have to accept that this release of Watto is numbered as 12 in the AOTC collection, sitting between the other two figures in the wave of the Geonosian Warrior and Taun We. In hand, Watto is another exceptional sculpt for an Alien species, something Hasbro nearly always excels at. He is cast in a grey blue tone to match his actual skin tone from his on-screen appearance, with his large pot-belly stomach fading to a lighter beige, and the same beige then tracks down the underside of the arms, the inner legs, and up around the neck area. Watto’s hands are three-fingered claws, while the feet are webbed with the four visible ‘toes’ infilled with webbing to create a circular foot, coloured beige underneath. Watto’s head includes his trunk around a bulbous mouth with protruding teeth or tusks picked out in white. The large eyes, while not obviously photo-real printed, are very well done with Watto’s yellow eyes around a large black iris. Watto is wearing his vest, an individual, soft brown piece with openings for both his arms and his wings. Over this is Watto’s toolbelt, another softer plastic overlaid piece in darker brown with pouches at either side and a mechanical powered tool slotted into a larger holster on the side and connected back into the belt and an external power pack by a coiled flexible lead. Watto's wings are individual pieces, plugged into sockets on his back by way of a ball joint that then allows them to be articulated. They use the same base blue/grey tones as the body with a leathery texture in the sculpt. The beige fade comes in on the front side, starting where they meet the body and fading as it extends out to the main wing. Proportionally, Wattos is dead on to what we see on screen, standing a touch shorter than Episode 1 Anakin. The set then includes a stand which raises Watto up so that his head is more or less on par with any six-inch figure, such as Qui-Gon Jinn as seen here, The stand itself is, like the Geonosian Warrior, a clear plastic sweeping piece that starts with a circular base and curves up and around to a ball joint that connects to the figure. This stand is not as tall as the Geonosian, allowing - as we've seen - Watto to ‘fly’ level to the other six-inch characters around him. The plug-in socket on the back is not disguised as such, but will sit under the loop of the belt when not being used. When engaged, the belt moves out of the way. The fit is not great, and there is an element of force needed to get the two married up securely. As we also saw with the Geonosian, Hasbro has included a second set of ‘motion’ wings for Watto to reflect the Hummingbird effect of rapid wing movement to keep him in the air. The motion wings are translucent plastic, thicker at the top to show their fast forward and back motion. The closer we get to the body, the colouring returns and fades up to a solid blue/grey finish. Swapping wings is easy; the ball joints here are engineered well to make the switch simple and without any fuss or frustration. The blurred movement is effective, but like most effects pieces, it will be a personal choice around which wings to use. The tool on Watto’s belt, a demagnitizer, can be slipped out of its holster and held in the right hand, where the grip is more secure. The coiled wire moves with the tool and allows Watto to be posed as though about to work on some mechanical equipment or even a droid. He also comes with his datapad, a crude framed piece in bronze plastic with a grey screen. The details are limited, and the screen itself is left blank. This also fits into the right hand, but is designed to sit better in the left, where the fingers are extended to hold the piece as though Watto was studying the contents. Up next is his walking/swagger stick, cast in brown plastic with a large round handle that has then be whittled down the shaft to an, almost pointing, end. Initially, this seems difficult to fit into Watto's hand, but as well as being held in his right hand around the main shaft, the ball handle can and will fit in and under the left hand so Watto can be displayed as though walking with his stick. The final accessory is one of the smallest to date in the Black Series, Watto’s chance cube that he uses to bet with Qui-Gon. The cube is white as a base colour, with different faces picked out in either blue or red and with this paint applied as though well-worn. Despite its size, it can be relatively well secured in Watto's hand as though ready to throw. Articulation on Watto is more limited due to his physiology, with a total of 15 joints. The legs are the least mobile, with just an ankle pivot and then a hip joint where the bent legs plug into the body. This allows Watto to stand on his own but in more or less a fixed position, while allowing the legs to be moved in and the feet pointed down when he is flying. The body includes a ball joint, and the neck is jointed in two places, allowing some wider motion in the head and therefore replicating many of Watto's mannerisms. The wings, as mentioned, are ball-jointed at the back, and while they can't move extensively, they do flex up and down and inward and outward. The arms are the most mobile with the shoulders, elbows and wrists all working with each of the included accessories to give Watto real character on display. Overall, Watto is an impressive figure with plenty of options for display, including both standing and flight positions and the blurred ‘in motion’ wings, which are much better than those on the Geonosian Warrior. And the figure features three independent accessories with the demagnitizer, tablet and chance cube, each allowing a different feature for display. Sculpt is great, mirroring what we see on screen, with a good level of applied decor. The downside of the release is the odd choice to brand it as part of the Attack of the Clones collection, while that does mean the wider wave has a single theme, nothing about having Watto in AOTC packaging makes sense and even the background text and artwork scream that this should have been the 7th release for The Phantom Menance collection.
