The Mandalorian and Grogu... thoughts on the movie, and on future figures (includes Spoilers)

I've just returned from my first sitting for The Mandalorian and Grogu, seeing it with my family at the local cinema.

In terms of the movie, I am not going to do a review, but I will say that if you treat this like an 80s action flick that runs at pace, and features laughs, chases, and explosions, all in the Star Wars Universe with nods every now and again - then you won't be disappointed.
If you know nothing about Star Wars as such, you will enjoy it as a spectacle. If you are a huge Star Wars fan, nods like the Amani, the INT-4 shuttle, and the Hutts are very obvious fan service additions, but I was happy to see them nonetheless.
Does it have a strong and complex narrative like Andor? No. But it has heart and passion and avoids some of the more recent traits of a lot of movies with no major twists or a character that is not who they seem. Yes, it does feel like three consecutitve episodes of The Mandalorian presented as three acts of a movie, but the presentation on a cinema screen brings that to a bigger scale in terms of visuals and the sound. And I must mention, the soundtrack is really impressive.

After the movie's first weekend, we have a Hasbro Star Wars Fan Stream heading our way on Tuesday, the 26th of May. While it may be nothing to do with Mando & Grogu, the timing does suggest that we may get that 2nd wave of both Black Series and Vintage Collection figures we saw on those Wave 1 posters.
Having seen the movie and having looked at the announcements from the likes of Funko and Hot Toys, I think safe bets for one or both lines include Embo, an Amani, and one or more of the Droid Gotra Troops. I do also think that Rotta the Hutt is a strong possibility as a larger Deluxe, and I suspect the Deluxe format will also be applied for a Zeb figure.

I would also not be surprised to see another Mando release. Potentially with removable helmet, Amban Phase Rifle, and twin swords. Grogu is likely to be included in this set in his armour, and possibly with his walking stick.
Let's see what Tuesday brings.... stay tuned for the news as it is announced, and all the subsequent press photos and blurb

About Me : As a child of the '70s and '80s I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force), and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licenses - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who, and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK-focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
