SDCC 2026: NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line comes to an end with the release of Ultimated Tempestra from the 1987 Cartoon Series

Fans of NECA's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line have had it confirmed through the SDCC coverage that the licence is coming to an end once we reach 2027, with Mattel taking over as the master licence holder and therefore removing the licence from both NECA and Playmates.
Before the agreement comes to an end, NECA has a final 1987 Cartoon series release in the shape of Tempestra. This Ultimate release will come with soft goods robe and dress, and includes extra hands, blast effects, microchip, and arcade cabinet with interchangeable screens.
The set is already live for pre-ordering on the NECA Store, and it will ship in Q4 of 2026 (October to December). We've added these details to our extensive NECA Collector Database

Standing in 7-inch scale, Tempestra wears a soft goods dress and cape and comes with interchangeable hands, blast effects, microchip, and arcade cabinet with interchangeable screens. Presented in collector-friendly window box packaging with VHS homage artwork.
