The new McFarlane DC Direct Batman: The Animated Series wave has finally gone on sale, initially at Amazon in Canada. Hiya have shared some more details for their new Exquisite Basic release of King Ghidorah (version 2.0) from Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019). Ghidorah stands 14 inches tall and features full articulation, including down each of the three necks. A trio of gravity beam effects are also included. “170 days ago, our search came to an end and the body of the Xenomorph was brought onboard, presumed dead.” After a barren period for NECA’s Alien series, with no new movie figures since re-issues in 2021 and no new figures full stop since 2022, the release of Alien: Romulus in 2024 provided NECA with new content to turn into action figures. As a complementary piece to the Ultimate Scorched Xenomorph, the Alien: Romulus Accessory Set was released in the US in late 2024 and finally hit UK stockists in March 2025. The set uses the same packaging design as the figure, albeit with a wider and thinner box, and includes a large front-facing window rather. The base of the box is a glossy black starscape splashed in blood with red used to create a border around the figure window and as a backdrop to the figure. The Alien Romulus movie logo is printed directly onto the window as is the Set name added in Alien in-universe text inside a green box.  The sides both feature imagery of the included accessories and the Romulus logo, while the back of the packaging shows each of the included parts as scene-specific photos with no text confirmation of the contents. A small disclaimer does confirm “Figures sold Separately” with the promo images relying on the use of at least one other NECA Alien figure to demonstrate the set's component parts. As we unpack the box, the figure, and accessories are set into a plastic inner tray while the cardboard backdrop is revealed as not completely deep red, but featuring splashed blood and ‘weathering’. Unpacking the set, the largest element is that of the Xenomorph Asteroid which is a hollow cast piece of plastic measuring about 7.8 inches (20cm) high by just over 6 inches (13cm) wide. The front face features the entombed body of the original 1979 movie ‘Big Chap’ Xenomorph as per the scenes in Alien: Romulus. The body of the Xeno is scaled with the previous NECA Big Chap releases and is picked out in a black and bronzed decor. The surrounding rock of the asteroid is coloured a darker grey with deeply engrained rock-like details and outcrops around the side, and round to the back. The rear of the asteroid is not flat but ridged yet retaining the ability to sit flat to the floor. It won't stand up on its edge unless supported, but NECA has included a hanging hole on the reverse side allowing it to be wall-mounted.  Size comparison with NECA Scorced Xenomorph (not included) Next, we have a selection of Facehugger and Chestburster accessories, including some repeats from the Scorched Xenomorph release. We get two Chestbursters with the set, again the upright version being the same as included with the figure. These are very nicely detailed and also include a slick painted finish with washing to pick out the various overlapping panels of the segmented body and tail. The straight Chestburster will stand on display, while the one rearing upward cannot support itself and will need help if you want it on display. Both feature what feels like an inner armature to the back half of the tail (after the rear air holes), but they lack any real substantial movement There are three different Facehugger parts, starting with the main Facehugger which is relatively well detailed and painted picking out the slick wet body, the lighter brown extremities of the legs, and the pinkish tones of the leg muscles and inner mouth. While the one I got with the figure was disfigured, the legs on this one are spaced more or less as you’d want with just some warping on the back two. The tail does not appear to feature an inner armature and feels tight and brittle when you do go to move it - I, therefore, left it well alone.  The next Facehugger is an innovative piece cast in a softer plastic, painted in the same way as the other Facehuggers, and shaped to fit directly around the majority of NECA’s human figure’s head. This allows you to convert any character into a victim of the Facehugger with a relatively tight fit once established in place and with legs that grip the head at either side. We tried it on Ripley, as seen in the photos we’ve included.  Facehugger fitted to Aliens Ripley (not included) The final facehugger is a similar piece to the ‘wearable’ accessory, a coiled Facehugger with the same deco as the other two with a wetlook deep brown finish, pink exposed fleshy parts, and lighter brown/yellow on the outer legs. This is specifically designed to fit with the next part of the set, the Cryo-Frame case. The Cryo-Frame, a key plot point in the earlier scenes on board the Romulus module, is a military green hard plastic cast case with a mat finish and applied decals to create a warning label at its base (on both sides) and a status indicator on the top left of the front side. The case frames an amber translucent plastic inner piece which can be accessed, and changed, by snapping the case apart. There is no engineered hinge here, the two parts are separate and held together with pegs and sockets.  The inner amber section features combinations allowing it to be displayed fully sealed and either empty or with the coiled Facehugger accessory within. There is then a partly damaged piece with acid holes on the outside and finally a fully melted version which looks great with the rubberised Facehugger pouring out of it. The handle on the case would allow a figure to carry this, otherwise, it will need to be propped up on display as it is not overly secure standing on its own due to its slimmer edge profile.  Our final accessory makes perfect sense in terms of the Alien: Romulus story, but also presents an issue in terms of using it in context. The F44AA Pulse Rifle is a weapon that Rain, Tyler, and Andy make temporary use of during their attempted escape from the Romulus module. It is white in colour, but distressed and weathered to give a worn look. There are painted component parts like the lower front grip and trigger grip as well as a red band on the barrel and a brown end cap on the stock. The ammunition light is painted also but rather than bright red, it's in a dull brown - and the upper targeting panel is not painted at all. The weapon is finished with a decal of the number 04 on either side of the weapon, identifying it as the Pulse Rifle used by Rain in particular, and a softer plastic strap in brown with grey buckles.  Pulse Rifle held by Aliens Ripley (not included) The weapon is scaled to be used by NECA’s 7-inch figures, but no figures exist at this time of the humans from Romulus. Therefore context for the weapon is difficult to display with a figure, or it can be stashed as a background accessory with your Scorched Xenomorph. The Alien; Romulus Accessory Set retails at the same price as the figure and comes with two accessories (one Facehugger and one Chestburster) that are also included as pack-ins with the Scorced Xenomorph. That puts the value of the set pretty much against the Asteroid, the Cryo-Case, and the Pulse Rifle and when viewed that way they don’t really add up to the same perceived value as a fully articulated Xenomoph. Accessory sets were also usually seen as either enhancing an environment for display or for adding value to existing figures. With no human protagonist figures released for Alien: Romulus the benefit of the Pulse Rifle, Cryo-case, and the attachable Facehugger is lessoned - although the latter works well enough as a generic Facehugger for use with your other Alien franchise figures (I think mine might take a liking to Burke). The most impactful piece is the Asteroid which will make a nice environment piece or indeed wall hanging. Definitely a set for purists and those who perhaps customise their own figures and want some context accessories for a custom Rain or Andy. Hasbro's delayed G.I. Joe Fan Stream event, first planned for February 2025, took place on the 18th of March 2025 hosted via the Hasbro Pulse YouTube Channel. The event kicked off with some future reveals, shown only as digital render images. These included a new Snake Eyes release, and an Amazon Exclusive Deluxe Set featuring the MMS and Colonel Hawk. In the retro carded series, we will be getting a new release of a 'green shirt' Trooper and the Cobra B.A.T. There was then a further look a tthe SDCC 2025 exclusive 'Cold Slither' box set and while we didn't get a look at the figures, other than a late sneaky peak at Zartan, it was confirmed the outer box would feature the figures within on blister cards. The full reveals in the general release category for G.I. Joe were the previously announced standard release figures of Blowtorch (154), Footloose (156), Frag Viper (153), and Darklon (155). And they will be joined by the Deluxe release of Law & Order (157). These went up for pre-order the same day with a September 2025 release date. As is now the usual format, these are US general releases but in the UK Hasbro has pretty much made the G.I. Joe Classified Series a Hasbro Pulse exclusive line, although some UK retailers will utilise the import route to offer these to their customers. The next release was the Target US Exclusive from the Hunt for the M.A.S.S. Device series, the Divers 2-Pack (169) featuring both a G.I. Joe and Cobra Diver. Outside of the US, this should be a Fan Channel item - but in the UK its restricted to Hasbro Pulse unless imported in by the specialist stores. It will be released in September 2025. The very impressive S.N.A.K.E. armour (162) was revealed in full and will come without a figure, allowing you to put whichever Classified Figure you wish into the pilot seat. It is a Hasbro Pulse Exclusive globally and has an August 2025 release date. The Fan Event moved to name only reveals of upcoming figures in the works. They included the Battle Armor Cobra Commander, Major Bludd, and Monkey Wrench. G.I. This Footloose figure contains eight character-inspired accessory pieces including helmet, knife, rocket launcher, RPG, backpack, knife and weapon accessories. Footloose was standing on the boardwalk in Venice pondering something cosmic when the utter pointlessness of his existence hit him between the eyes like a runaway freight train. ‘I think I'll enlist,’ he said, and promptly did. “I can't lie about your chances. But you have my sympathies.” After a barren period for NECA’s Alien series, with no new movie figures since re-issues in 2021 and no new figures full stop since 2022, the release of Alien: Romulus in 2024 provided NECA with new content to turn into action figures. The Scorched Xenomorph was released in the US in late 2024 and finally hit UK stockists in March 2025. The figure is promoted as an Ultimate release, but features a packaging design specific to Alien Romulus and with a large front-facing window rather than the closed-box Ultimate format with an opening front flap. The base of the box is a glossy black starscape splashed in blood with red used to create a border around the figure window and as a backdrop to the figure. The Alien Romulus movie logo is printed directly onto the window as is the figure’s name added in Alien in-universe text inside a green box. The window itself is definitely a weak spot, and our box arrived with half the window already detached, which is a potential issue for mint-in-box collectors. The sides both feature imagery of the figure and the Romulus logo, while the back of the packaging includes a trio of inset photos of the Xenomorph and a short synopsis of the movie itself. Contents are confirmed at the bottom in a red call-out box and are listed as a display stand, Facehugger, Chestburster, and interchangeable Hands and Dome. As we unpack the box, the figure and accessories are set into two connected inner trays. The cardboard backdrop is also revealed as not completely deep red, but featuring splashed blood and ‘weathering’. Before we begin on the figure itself, we should face into a well-documented issue with how NECA has chosen to pack this Xenomorph. The inner tray holds the rubberized tail, with its internal metal armature, into a 90-degree position, and the extreme bend, held for a number of weeks from packing to shipping and eventual delivery, is putting pressure on the rubberized plastic to the point that it splits. I personally ordered two of these, one for me and one for my son, and both our figures arrived with a split in the tail. You will of course be in your rights (dependent on the particular retailing rules of your country) to return the item as defective as this tail split is a defect, but this is looking to be present on many of the shipped figures meaning finding a non-defective Scorched Xeno will be tough going. We will see how the split impacts the figure as we work through the review. The Xenomorph figure in hand is an impressively sized piece, larger than previously released Xeno’s and standing well over 10 inches tall (26cm) when fully extended. The Xenomorph is cast predominantly in a translucent brown plastic over which the darker almost metallic black/grey finish is applied leaving the ridged panels down the arms and legs, the torso ‘pipes’ and extremities on the ankles and elbows in the translucent deep brown finish. Overall detailing is as we now expect from NECA for Aliens, faithfully recreating their anatomy and external carapace structure.  vs Alien Isolation Xenomorph (Top Right) and Aliens Ripley (Bottom Right) The head includes a translucent dome and a jaw that features painted silver teeth and more translucent ‘drool’ to either side. The head also uses brown translucent plastic as a base, leaving the side sections unpainted. The front of the dome includes the cracked damage sustained by the first ‘Scorched’ Xenomorph in Alien: Romulus. NECA has included a clever swap-out function here so you can choose to replace this with an undamaged version - useful for army builders. Beneath the removed dome is a fully sculpted Xenomorph skull which itself is reminiscent of the Alien: Resurrection Hybrid.  The head also comes with an extendable inner jaw, although this is harder to execute than previous releases. Once freed from the mouth - and this takes time and patience to get it gripped and carefully pulled forward - it extends out and downwards and features its own painted decor with a pinkish inner mouth, more steel teeth, and a lighter brown shaft. The positioning does mean this comes out pointing down rather than straight which is slightly different to how it is shown on screen and how it has been on earlier NECA Xenomorph figures.  The jaw and internal mouth are part of the overall articulation of the figure which comes in at 19 points of articulation in total. All joints are pinless and vary in their movement from quite expansive knee and elbow joints to more limitations at the hips and even less so at the ankles and toes. The tail, as we mentioned earlier, is jointed at the body but then features an internal metal armature that should allow it to be posed however you want. I have made the decision to go nowhere near the tail in terms of posing, carefully positioning it to be a point of balance and left it at that with the bend in place and the split in the tail therefore disturbed no further.  Despite this, the Alien is expressive enough to be posed from crouched positions to almost entirely upright and with arms and hands in a variety of menacing positions. The stand is needed for some of these, and works by acting as a bracket that sits just under the Xenomorph groin to create the point of balance. It's not necessary though as the tail also provides that balance point once the legs are posed to the same length as the bend in the tail.  The bulk of the other accessories for the set come in the shape of alternative hands for the Alien, with 6 different pairs of hands to choose from. I found it difficult to differentiate some from others, but there are definitive differences in some with outstretched claws, some with retracted claws, and then the rest all fall somewhere in between. They each swap out with relative ease and no obvious stress on the plastic, with no functionality included your choice will be one of personal preference as to which hand to use on your figure. The final two accessories are a Facehugger and a Chestburster, something that has been commonplace as included in the Ultimate Aliens since the Ultimate Alien Warrior figures were released in 2018. The Chestburster is a particularly nice sculpt with considerable detail despite its size. It also features a paint job that gives it a slick, wet look, with variations in shading beneath this to pick out the various ridges and panels of the elongated body. Sadly it doesn’t stand on its own so will need some support on display. While not articulated as such, it also features a wire armature in the tail - but again I am reluctant to move this excessively with what has happened on the main figure. The Facehugger is particularly disappointing, and I am not sure if I have received a sub-standard piece or if there is a further factory defect with the set. The Romulus Facehugger is the same basic anatomy as the other Facehuggers with eight legs around a flat head, two rear air sacks, and a long extended segmented tail. The included accessory has all of these, with a paint job that starts light brown at the legs and then moves to a darker wet-look brown down the rest of the body. Pink fleshy sections are painted where the legs meet the body, and underneath around the mouthpiece. As I mentioned, I got two of these sets and the two Facehuggers are both different in finish with the worst missing the pink highlights on one side and the other side having deformed legs all pointing backward. The better of the two has the legs better shaped but also has poorly applied paintwork. The Facehugger also looks like it might have a metal armature tail but feels really brittle on handling, so again I’ve not gone anywhere near bending this for display. Unlike the Chestburster, the Facehugger does stand as intended although the leg positions are key as to how good this looks for display.  The Scorched Xenomorph from Alien: Romulus is a semi-successful return to the Alien line for NECA. it is a figure that looks impressive with the translucent brown base plastic giving it a more distinctive overall feel than previous Xenomorph releases. Sadly, there are issues with the tail fault being the biggest. Issues also exist with the inner jaw, and articulation is not much further on from where we were when the line was at its height. The accessories, a key part of its Ultimate status, are lacking with too many hands than you could conceivably need and a particularly poor quality Facehugger and a Chestbusrster that can’t stand. I’d have preferred NECA dial back the accessories, lose the Ultimate status and offer the figure at a lower price point - leaving fans to pick up the accessory pack if they wanted to enhance their display. The set does however do a very good job of allowing the damaged dome to be swapped, making this an army building piece if you wanted to go down that route and collect a larger swarm of the Romulus Xenos. “If you kill me now, you will wonder throughout eternity whether you should have listened to my words.” In late 2024, Character Options launched a new and enhanced range of Doctor Who 5.5 inch figures called the Vortex Editions. These were sold exclusively by Character and featured figures with improved articulation, sculpt, and paint decor than the standard releases. The first release was a bundled two pack featuring Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th Doctor and Ruby Sunday. Roll forward to March 2025 and the next release in the Vortex Edition line was announced as a new version of Jon Pertwee’s Third Doctor, bundled with an electro-plated roleplay sonic screwdriver.  The set shipped just 2 days after it was announced, and arrived from Character in an outer cardboard shipper but without any protective packaging. The outer shipper was squared, while the Vortex packaging features a cut out corner, leaving some packages arriving damaged where the void between inner and outer box was crushed or penetrated during shipping. The Votex packaging itself is white as a base colour with an orange hued vortex design surrounding the window and also on the diamond name plate - we assume this is the assigned colour for the Third Doctor era. The usual TARDIS image sits bottom left, while the current Doctor Who logo sits at the top. The corner cut outs mentioned above are now limited to the top right only, an immediate variation on the Vortex Edition boxes as the first two releases featured a cut out on both top and bottom right corners. Further diamond call outs around the window confirm the figure as “High deco Vortex Edition Figure” and that it comes “With Accessories”. At the other side of the window, the call out diamonds turn their attention to the included Sonic Screwdriver and confirm it as a “Deluxe Electro-Plated Sonic” and featuring “Multiple Sound FX!”  The box sides are relatively simplistic using the white backdrop and with the newer Doctor Who (Whoniverse) logo text. The left hand side features a wrap around of the orange vortex and over this is the wording “The Third Doctor”, it is unclear if this is confirming the figure or the era on which it is based - the Ncuti Gatwa figures didn’t include this wording. The back of the box follows the usual principle of being entirely text based with a lengthy background about the Third Doctor and confirming the outfit of the figure is based on that from The Daemons (1971). To the side of this we have repeated diamond call-outs about the sonic and a larger version top left that talks more about the Vortex Edition line as featuring a “higher specification deco applied over base colour plastics for extra details”. There is no reference here to improved joints as was included in this call out on the 15th Doctor and Ruby Sunday figures. The set continues to use very visible white cotton ties to secure the figure, which does detract from a mint in box display. Once opened the backing design is revealed in full as the roundels from the classic TARDIS, which is a nice variation to the repeated coloured Vortex seen on the first packaging. The Third Doctor figure is the base established way back in 2009 when the first Jon Pertwee was released. The figure includes a pair of black suited trousers with gloss black shoes, a red jacket with extremely delicate grey trim and fastenings - a huge improvement on the more heavy handed paint we’ve seen on this jacket previously. Under the jacket is a frilled white shirt with the frill visible at the cuffs of the sleeves and between the open section of the jacket. The Doctor is wearing a neck tie which best showcases the Vortex Edition deco coming with a green base colour and brown and white patterning which imitates the costume, while not being able to replicate the pattern at such a small scale. The headsculpt is the huge selling point of the set, only the second ever Jon Pertwee likeness and much more themed around his earlier seasons with shorter hair. It is a huge improvement on the likeness and also you can see the newer deco techniques with much more realistic eyes, lip colour, two tone hair colour and perhaps some subtle skin shading.  vs 2018 Third Doctor 'Time Monster' figure (right) The cape is an individual piece in softer plastic and again from the 2009 Sea Devils release and having been re-used multiple times since. It is black as a base colour with much made about the purple lining deco which is bright and crisp, but nothing immediately spectacular - and our version even has splashed purple on the black, although thank fully this is under one of the arms. The cloak can be removed with a bit of patience, utilising the slits down from the main arm hole to manouver it over the arms and off. Underneath is a fully sculpted and painted figure, providing a second variation of the figure and also as seen in The Daemons when the Doctor removes his cape. The Doctor comes with two accessories, the first of which is his sonic screwdriver scaled for the figure and the same piece included in the original Third Doctor releases starting in 2009. This is impressive in its execution considering the size and features a much more detailed silver base with clear yellow, red and black markings down the main body and red around the emitter at the head. It’s designed to fit into the Doctor’s right hand, and does so snugly initially out of the box - but be warned that this grip can be loosened after using the second accessory. The second piece is the Crystal of Kronos as seen in The Time Monster (1972), another recycle piece originally included with The Master in the Time Monster set from 2011. The piece is a black shaft with translucent crystal formation extending out from the base. This also fits in the right hand, but due to the wider diameter of the grip I found the Doctor’s right hand immediately stretched meaning the Sonic didn’t sit quite as well afterwards.  Accessory three is also not directly complementary to the figure, a Giant Maggot as seen in The Green Death (1973). The Maggot is where Character Toys have introduced a variation into the set, setting up the packaging to incorporate three variations of Maggot and shipping the sets with a random single Maggot included. That means the absolute completists, or those wanting a group of Maggots, will need to buy multiple sets - and because these are randomly packed there is an element of difficulty in doing so. There is then a further issue that Character has limited the set to two pieces per household, putting another barrier in the way of a complete set.  vs 2009 Green Maggot release (right) The Maggots are as originally released in 2009 with The Green Death set, and your maggots will vary in terms of head position with one flat to the floor, one partly raised, and one fully raised. Each is painted with a cream base colour, and over this a green slime application. A brown wash adds a 'soiled effect' while the visible open mouth is painted with pink inner and white teeth. The newer variant is a brighter green than the old release, while the skin tone is darker. The Doctor comes with the usual articulation as has been standard for the Doctor Who line up to the point Character launched the Vortex Edition. There are nine points of articulation in total, including visible pins at both knees and elbows. With no ankle rockers, the legs will be limited in their positions, although the hips and knees allow for wider stances, and walking/running positions. The arms can’t move outward at the shoulders due to a fixed single axis joint, with rotation included at the bicep, which remains prone to popping out when turned. The elbows bend to 90 degrees only, while the wrist joints are a single rotation on the inserted peg. The final joints are in the rotation of the waist and again at the neck, which allows the new head sculpt to turn to either side - but not fully, as the head clashes with the collar of the shirt after a short turn. The other half of the set, and more than 50% of the perceived value, is the electro-plated Sonic Screwdriver. This is a 1:1 role play piece and is as previously released in the Doctor Who line, but now electro-plated giving it a high polished metal finish. Over the eletco-plated metal look body are the classic markings with a black trim to the base, a yellow upper band with black rings and an upper red collar. The head of the Screwdriver is a burgundy piece with a central silver emitter. The Screwdriver features included sound FX which are activated by retracting the upper shaft which withdraws down into the body. Doing this one generates the standard sonic noise, while doing it twice in quick succession creates a thrumming noise. Quality-wise wise this is still a plastic device, and will be subject to wear to the electro-plating when handled extensively. It is unable to stand on its own and there is no display stand included, so collectors will need an aftermarket solution if displaying it unboxed. The set is the first of five Character have planned for 2025 and is priced at £44.99 with free delivery. While the price point was initially perceived as high, the usual price for an electro-plated sonic has been between £25 and £30 if you look at the recent 14th Doctor release - giving the figure and accessories a value of between £15 and £20. This is in line with the first Vortex release figures and the recent carded releases which were sold at £17.99 each. But it is this Vortex Edition bracket that perhaps is the part to cause concern considering it was badged initially as new figures, with improved articulation and deco - with this Third Doctor release now only featuring improved deco. Perhaps expectations might have been better managed initially to pave the way for these new sets.  Alongside the other releases from The Daemons For fans of Doctor Who and the Classic Era in particular, the set extends the figures from The Daemons to that of the Doctor, The Master and Boc, which is a nice trio for display. It is just a pity that the accessories are not from the same story and are recycled from past releases rather than adding in complementary accessories like a torch or the trowel used to ward of Bok. The new Jon Pertwee head is impressive, and while fans immediately speculated on further re-use of the younger head - Al Dewar of Character has already stated online that this will be the only use of the head. The set will appeal to roleplay Sonic collectors also, with the Electro-plating improving the visuals even if this is essentially the guts of the older release. “I am the Black Panther, and I have come for retribution!” Ahead of the cinematic release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Hasbro released a mixed wave of Marvel Legends figures including those from the movie alongside comic book adjacent characters. While the wave included movie figures of Nakia, Namor and Okoye alongside an updated Everett Ross from the first movie, there was no movie Black Panther in the wave, only a comic book release accompanied by a Hatut Zeraze. This was likely due to confidentiality with Disney & Marvel heavily protecting the fact that Shuri would take up the Black Panther mantle in the film. This omission was corrected in early 2023 with the release of a single Shuri Black Panther figure. The figure was not exclusive, nor linked to any wave and simply sat as a single release in the short-lived plastic free packaging series, coming without any window and using artwork and photography to depict the content.  Black Panther is a brand new sculpt recreating Shuri’s suit as seen in Wakanda Forever. Like the prior releases of T’Challa the suit is cast entirely in black plastic featuring an embossed texture and more deeply cut sculpted panel lines. A selection of these lines within the suit are then picked out with gold paint, with a small amount of silver used on the upper chest and on the thighs. Despite the slim profile of these suit lines, the paint application in the main is neat and tidy. The gold colour does struggle against the base black and looks muted in places, while the reverse of the figure is devoid of any painted detail at all save some triangular panels round the lower legs.  The Shuri Black Panther helmet is similar in styling to those we’ve seen previously with a Panther shaped mouth piece, nose and pronounced ‘ears’ at the top. Shuri’s facial ‘dot’ markings are recreated on the suit as silver details with further silver lines under the eyes, and on the eye panels themselves. A couple of gold lines can then be found further up on the helmet and extending to the rear. While T’Challa Black Panther figures nearly always featured both a masked head and an unmasked Chadwick Boseman head, there is no place in this set for an unmasked Letitia Wright headsculpt, which is disappointing. What we do get is a solitary pair of alternative hands allowing Shuri in her suit to be displayed with either clenched fists or extended Panther clawed hands. Both hands use the same textured black base as the suit and also feature small sections of gold markings.  Articulation is pinless and pretty much unencumbered by any part of the costume. There are 18 points of articulation in total, a fairly set standard for many Legends figures, but again less than was given to the T’Challa Panther figures, with Shuri notably short on butterfly shoulders and with a simple torso ball joint rather than the full torso pivot. So while arms and legs have a full range of motion, the torso lacks the crunch for some of the more dynamic positions we see when Shuri is fighting in costume. There is enough to have some variation in display but not as much as you’d get from a comparable T’Challa Black Panther. Despite essentially being the main protagonist of Wakanda Forever, the Marvel Legends release of Shuri’s Black Panther is certainly lacking when rightly compared to figures of her brother T’Challa from the original movie and subsequent appearances. Not only is this 2023 release lacking an unmasked head for Shuri, the articulation is scaled back and therefore limiting on posing options for a character that is intended to be seen as agile and cat like. Visually, the figure is on point, albeit with the gold maybe needing to be a bit brighter but that doesn’t quite balance out the other issues.
