McFarlane's new DC Multiverse 2-Pack featuring The Grim Knight vs Killer Croc has been listed on the Gamestop website in Canada. The set is a Collector Edition 2-Pack and is based on the Dark Multiverse series. The Grim Knight comes with a selection of weapons, including a weapon-bundle backpack. The set also comes with a stand for Grim Knight and collector cards for both Grim Knight and Killer Croc. The set is a Target and Gamestop shared exclusive and should ship in early April 2025. “Brother, I am an unworthy apprentice. I'm not like you. I never was.” Savage Opress, one of the most asked-for characters when collectors were speculating over future Black Series releases, finally made his 6-inch scale debut in March 2025. He is a Deluxe release, reflective of his size, and available generally through all stockists. Savage comes in the wider Galaxy Collection Deluxe packaging, following the same design principles as the standard releases with a black colour scheme overlaid with the Star Wars Black Series logo and an applied accent colour specific to the source material.  For The Clone Wars, this is a deep yellow and these colours are used on the box text as well as the illustration that sits on the right-hand spine and around the back alongside the character bio. Savage is the 19th figure in the Galaxy Collection numbered sequence for Clone Wars, his artwork connects to the prior release of the Commando Droid from the Spring 2025 Fan Channel wave. The internal cardback, framing the figure in the box, also uses the accent colour and integrates in this some background details of a ship interior or hanger bay. Savage Opress is an entirely new figure and has been designed, sculpted and built on a real-world basis as opposed to his animated look from The Clone Wars. This means his build is broadened, and overall proportions are more accurately scaled to what we might expect an oversized muscular Night Brother to look like in live action. He stands 7 inches tall, a good head or more taller than an average character. The costume is based around the armour Savage wears for much of his Clone Wars run, with a segmented dull grey metal chest armour and oversized shoulder sections. This features a degree of weathering to add a further layer of depth to the base colours. The legs are a purple tone with a lighter soft goods purple skirt piece. This is combined with a soft plastic sculpted belt and front sash, the sash keeping the soft goods in check while the soft goods ensure that articulation is not overly restricted. The sash also features more applied decor, with the multi-pronged icon worn by Savage in the show recreated as a sculpted embossed section of the skirt and painted in grey. The outfit ends with metal armoured boots with silver painted toe-caps and fastenings, and a similarly armoured pair of bracers on each arm with black trim.  vs Darth Maul from 2022 (right) There is no direct live-action likeness on which Savage can be based, but the head does a good job of converting an animated series Savage Opress into what we might expect him to look like in live action. Like the newer Maul figures, the facial markings are printed over the base colour and are a crisp but deep yellow tone with further facial printing evident in the eyes that peer out beneath that large fixed brow. The horns are, as seen in the show, longer than those we find on Maul and are painted in bone yellow. Similarly, the yellow skin tone hands finish in wicked finger nails, filed to a point and also painted individually in the bone yellow finish.  Savage comes with two weapon choices, starting with the spear he receives from Mother Talsin following his initial transformation on Dathomir. This is as tall as the figure itself and features a deep grey shaft with angular sections and a three-pronged metallic dull silver blade, which, in the right light, also shows a beaten metal texture which is impressive at this scale. The spear fits in either of Savage’s hands, which both feature a gripping position with flexibility in the plastic of the fingers to accept this or the second weapon. This second piece is Savage’s lightsaber, a weapon he began using at some point after the Devaron Massacre and used until his untimely demise. This piece features a grey hilt with a black ridged central grip and black trim with extending prongues at each end of the emitter. One of these features a loop on the opposite side which can then hang onto a corresponding hook on Savage’s belt in a holstered position. The colouring of the hilt is not as impressive as the spear with the lighter grey plastic looking out of place quality-wise in contrast with the spear. The hilt accepts one or two translucent red blades, which are similar, if not the same in terms of length and shape to the ones included with the newer Maul releases. They clip into place, but without the usual ‘click’ into the internal fixings. They still sit securely with no obvious issues with warping, bending plastic or out of line blades. Savage can wield the lightsaber with one or both hands with sufficient arm movement to satisfy the most dynamic of poses.  The articulation overall is 18 points of pinless joints with the legs now more streamlined in their joints to hip, knee and ankle joints only allowing a more aesthetic flow to the lower limbs without losing any movement. Savage, despite his size and bulk, is well supported on these legs and particularly the ankle rockers, but you will need to get the ratchets lined up to have the feet flat to the floor.  The torso comes with twin ball joints at the waist and further up under the ribcage area allowing Savage to lean into or away in poses with either of his weapons in particular. The arms are wide-ranging in movement thanks to the butterfly shoulders and the engineering of those large shoulder armoured panels which are attached to the upper shoulder not the tors,o and move and flex with the arm movement.  vs Darth Maul from 2024 (right) Savage Opress is very much a deluxe release in both size and execution, with two large and brutal-looking weapons for him to wield on display - matching both his early and later appearances through his Clone Wars arc. While not having an actor on which to base the likeness as such, a great job has been done in converting the animated Nightbrother into a real-world setting where he looks at home posed with figures from A New Hope or Ahsoka as he does within the Clone Wars collection. Hasbro's monthly Star Wars Fan Stream program for 2025 continued as of the 25th of March 2025 with the third YouTube hosted Fan Stream of the year. The event was presented by the various members of the Hasbrto Star Wars design and marketing team and included a number of new reveals from across the Star Wars Universe. The following is a summary of reveals with screen grabs where available from the video content. This will be updated upon receipt of the press release details from Hasbro's PR team. There were three new Star Wars Black Series reveals from the Fan Stream, starting with the first look at SM-33 from Skeleton Crew. He is a Deluxe release, which includes an extended function to raise his height as well as a pair of clip on shields and the mini-rodent that sits in the droid's eye socket. SM-33 opens for pre-orders as of the 26th of March 2025 and an Autumn 2025 release. He is number 07 in the Skeleton Crew series. There are then two new figures from Ahsoka with the Night Trooper at number 17 and Ezra Bridger at number 18 in the Galaxy Collection. The Night Trooper features a blaster, while Ezra comes with his lightsaber. This pairing also go on pre-order as of the 26th of March and are Summer 2025 releases. Ezra and Night Trooper are part of a wider Wave 22 of the Galaxy Collection, with three other figures to be revealed. It appears that there may be a numbering issue for Ahsoka with the Night Trooper allocated number 17, which is the same as Anakin Skywalker revealed last month. Two of McFarlane's new DC Direct Page Puncher figures have had their promotional gallery circulated online ahead of pre-orders going live. Supergirl, from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been listed at Gamestop Canada and will feature alternative hands, a sword, and the usual collector card and display stand. A reprint of the original comic book is also included in the blister packaging. She is listed as a mid-April 2025 release. Superman, from Kingdom Come will formally open for pre-order as of Tuesday the 25th of March, and is also likely a mid-April 2025 release. Superman will feature extra hands, collector card, and a flight stand. He will also come with a reprinted comic book. "Troubled by the Living? Is death a problem and not a solution? Unhappy with eternity? Having difficulty adjusting?" Despite holding the licence for a number of years, NECA had never done an Ultimate format Beetlejuice until the sequel hit cinema screens in 2024. While NECA initially repacked their older, original film figures from 2008 to mark the movies release it was soon announced that they would be bringing us the first Ultimate format Beetlejuice in early 2025.  The Ultimate Beetlejuice, Bio-Exorcist, arrived in Spring 2025 and was packed into an Ultimate closed box which utilised the Beetlejuice flyer from the movie as the design principle. The front cover recreates the calling card from its browned paper base colour to the crudely drawn beetle and the various advertising slogans such as “Troubled by the Living!” The box sides change design slightly to a darker purple theme and images of the figure itself along with the traditional Beetlejuice movie logo.  The back of the box reverts to the aged paper look but with a montage of inset images of the figure illustrating the various included accessories and specific looks you can create. A short ‘includes’ section at the base confirms the contents and if you turn the box over to the very bottom panel you will see a short illustrative instruction on how to change the ‘interchangeable faceplates’ that are referenced in the contents list. The Ultimate format uses an opening front cover, behind which is the window, and a full look at the figure and accessories. On the opposite panel is another larger image of the figure, rising from the grave as seen in his first scenes of the movie. The backing card for the figure itself is a backdrop of the Afterlife corridor, but is quite flimsy cardboard so not a backdrop that you could use straight out of the box without some work. The Bio-Exorcist release recreates that first appearance of Beetlejuice from the movie complete with bright red patterned shirt, dirty blue trousers, odd socks and shoes, and his larger tattered overcoat. Each piece is coloured accurately to what we see on screen with a good level of detail added around the patterns - but the coat fastenings and the shoe laces go unpainted and are left in the base colour.  Beetlejuice himself features pale, ghostly skin visible under the shirt collar and inclusive of mould and spores added over the white in shades of green. We see the same skin tone on th ehands, which also feature sculpted nails and Beetlejuice’s ring. The head sculpts are plentiful in their options - built on the principle of two core headpieces, which accept one of four included face plates. This provides eight individual looks for Beetlejuice, half with his ‘tour guide’ hat and half without. Each of the two ‘base heads’ pops off the neck ball joint relatively easily, allowing a fairly painless process of swapping out the two options. The base heads are a green translucent colour and overpainted for the hair, and on the second head they also pick out the grimy details of the hat and its front ‘Guide’ plate. On the front, there is a flat section with three sockets that correspond to the holes on each of the four faces.  The faceplates use a similar skin tone, complete with green fungus patches and each varies in expression providing you with variations of neutral, grinning, and grimacing Michael Keaton in full make up likenesses. Detailing is excellent in and around the deep-set red-ringed eyes and at the mouth with the rotten teeth and fungus mustache. The faces are all very much of the era and the look from 1988. They are quite chalky in hand with a potential risk of paint wear over time if handled excessively.   You get a number of alternative hands with the set, and these are a majority of right hands including one in a pointing gesture and another with a closed pair of fingers to hold some of the smaller accessories. There is then a set of open-palmed hands and a pair of half-grip hands in a holding position. NECA’s harder plastic makes swapping hands a difficult affair - more from the jeopardy of potentially breaking the hands as you pull them loose - a gentle application of hot water or warm air from a suitability-distanced hair dryer will help. As an Ultimate release, Bio-Exorcist Beetlejuice is accompanied by some scene-specific accessories allowing you choices on how he is displayed. These start with the Betelgeuse calling card on which the box is designed. This is only cardboard and will be easily damaged. But the print is crisp enough and it fits into the pinched finger hand to be held up to present to prospective clients.  The newspaper is done in a similar way, a larger cardboard piece printed and folded. The text is crisp and clear and the back of the paper is inclusive of another Betelgeuse advertising panel. The two partly open hands are effectively intended to hold the paper in the open ‘reading’ position, but I did find this frustrating as there is not enough resistance in the paper or grip in the hands to hold it securely - a more closed-off pair of gripping hands like the ones holding the business card would have provided more security. We then have a small rat complete with sculpted fur, eyes, and tail which can sit in Beetlejuice’s open hand. Again, this relies on gravity rather than any particular grip or connecting components - but it is more secure once positioned than the newspaper. The accessories conclude with an oil lantern in a dark brown frame, a translucent inner lantern, and internal flame details. This comes with a ringed handle on top, but again no defined gripping hands to hold it - which means it too relies on a propped position and gravity to keep it in place. Articulation is 14 points overall, all pinless and all with a basic level of movement. Elbows and knees bend to roughly 90 degrees, with the shoulders then able to raise and extend the arms to the full extent as needed for that rising from the grave pose. The hips are not quite as extensive as some comparable lines although the cut of the long coat does render the need for extensive hip movement redundant. There are also some limitations in the waist, and in the ankle rockers. The latter still provides a solid base for standing Beetlejuice on display. The figure has sufficient options to work with and posing opportunities are as laid out on the box artwork maximising the use of the accessories or recreating the onscreen gestures. The Rising from the Grave pose is also there, but an aftermarket stand will be required and one with sufficient strength to hold the heavier NECA plastic in place.  Collectors of NECA figures will know that their figures are built predominantly for their aesthetics, and Beetlejuice is a good example of how the figure very much replicates Michael Keaton’s costume and makeup. The Ultimate figures are then stacked with variations of hands, faces, and accessories and for this Ultimate Beetlejuice, the face combinations are a very inventive way of giving us plenty of options - as are the included parts, albeit 50% of them are printed cardboard. Articulation is limited, but Bio-Exorcist Beetlejuice does enough to capture some iconic poses.  With NECA’s figure construction, you get a heavy figure with a harder often brittle plastic so care has to be taken with swapping parts and over-exerting any of the joints. All of this is wrapped up in an RRP which is now significantly above where it was 10 years ago when NECA figures were comparable to Hasbro and McFarlane lines of a similar 6-7 inch scale. NECA have shared a preview and images of a raft of new products heading to Target stores in the US as part of the next Collector's Spot Haulathon Event. There are new Ultimate releases of The Count from Sesame Street, a new Halloween Michael Myers from The Curse of Michael Myers, Pee Wee Herman, Beetlejuice in Wedding Tuxedo, and a trio of new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultimate releases called Crouching Panda, Hidden Turtles, Two Scoops of Evil, and Start Shredding the News. As expected there is then a large volume of other new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle releases with Eastman and Laird comic book figures in black and white featuring Casey Jones, Foot Enforcer, and an Elite Guard. Full colour figures in the same series include April O'Neil, Donatello, Old Man Raphael, Hunter Leonardo, Shredder, and a new 4-pack of the Turtles. The final figures are from the TMNT Animated Series with a two pack of Tattoo and Wyrm, and a second set of Creepy Eddie and Shibano Sama. While some or these are likely to be Target Exclusives, others will be a 'First to Market' agreement with wider stocks available at a later time. The Haulathon Event starts on the 11th of April 2025.
