McFarlane are releasing a series of slimmed-down blister carded DC Multiverse figures, creating a lower price point for selected retailers, including EB Games in Canada. In the US these will be Ross Dress for Less Store exclusives. The first figures include the new 2025 movie Superman, a Hush Superman, and a Three Jokers Batman. These release include no accessories and are also devoid of the usual display stand and collector card as seen in the main line. They are July 2025 releases in the US and Canada - it is not confirmed if these will be available in other territories. “I'm not giving up. We will face this together. We will fight it together... as a family.” Our reviews of The Fantastic Four: First Steps Marvel Legends wave is written ahead of the movie release. It contains no spoilers other than the imagery used on the packaging and figures, all of which has been seen in the trailers.  The first MCU Fantastic Four figures landed on the 1st of July 2025 to collectors worldwide, a six figure wave that incorporated the full Fantastic Four team as well as a ‘flame on’ version of Johnny Storm and the new Silver Surfer. The packaging mirrored the dimensions and layout of the current Legends packaging, but completely redesigned everything else. The look of the Fantastic Four figure boxes moves away from the usual sleek black to an off white base colour, with deep blue logos and nameplates, and even a blue colour to the ‘Legends’ wording of the Marvel Legends logo. This is very much intended to give the figures the same feel as the movie, as though coming from an alternative timeline with a 50s and 60s vibe. This even extends to the use of the old Hasbro logo bottom right.  The artwork on the box side is retained, but shaped in an offcentre blue frame. These are realistic illustrations against deep orange coloured backdrops. The full image is placed on the box reverse, where we find the character posed against a bold orange circle. Unusually, there is no background text or synopsis for the movie itself. The figure is set against a blue card back which incorporates the four circular designs that are applied to our four main characters - designs that are also used on the box itself around the character name plates, apart from on the Silver Surfer. Sue Storm is presented in her Fantastic Four blue suit, similar in its styling to that of her brother Johnny Storm and Mister Fantastic. It is made up of various panels, including some that are ridged and quilted. Hands, wrists, and boots are white rather than blue, with black trim used. A similar white trim is included at the suit's collar, and again at the belt piece,e the latter also trimmed in black. The costume is finalised with the central Fantastic Four logo applied as a decal or printed onto a central circular plate.  The headsculpt does not immediately scream of actor Vanessa Kirby, and while it is difficult to quantity why that is, considering Hasbro has been so impressive in recent years with facial sculpts and likeness. There is definitely a roundness in the face that is not reflective of Vanessa Kirby’s actual jawline. And sculpting her with an open mouth is also potentially throwing off the look, although I appreciate that in most of the shots we’ve seen of her, this is often the expression she is carrying.  The hairpiece is sculped to flow over the face from a side parting to the right, exposing her left ear. Again, scenes we have access to show the parting set to the other side, which may also be throwing the likeness. The hair is cast in a single blonde colour with no washes or highlights to vary it; it is perhaps too blonde and needs a paler finish, considering Sue Storm’s look in The Fantastic Four. The powers of The Invisible Woman are usually replicated as either a translucent figure or parts, or via effect pieces to create the shielding effects that Sue Storm has access to. This MCU debut release has gone down this shielding route with the figure having access to a selection of hands, including a fully outstretched right hand that incorporates a central socket that then connects to a clear plastic shield piece complete with impacting bullets or its outer surface. The security of this piece is much better than recent comic book iterations of this powered effect, thanks to Hasbro choosing a physical peg & socket over a shaped section. There is perhaps a lack of some rainbow/shimmering effects at the side of the bubble piece, something the special effects are using to illustrate the power on screen. Looking at the hand options themselves, you can choose to use the outstretched hand without the powered piece, or alternatively, use the clenched right fist. Sadly, there is no corresponding left clenched fist, leaving you the choice between a gripping hand and an open, relaxed hand - there does not immediately appear to be any reason for this decision, and the lack of uniformity where we usually see matched pairs is a slight disappointment. As with the other characters, Sue is wearing the silver Fantastic Four wrist device on her left wrist, which is removable once the hand is clipped out of the wrist socket. The Invisible Woman has a total of 19 points of pin-less articulation, with a full range of motion throughout with the exception of the neck joint, where the hairpiece presents some restriction to movement by the way it sits down over the shoulders. The joints all combine to achieve most positions you’d want for the figure, including engaging and projecting that shield straight out to the side or angled upward. The lower legs are robust enough to balance the figure and the effect piece. The Sue Storm Invisible Woman release presents as a good representation of what we see on screen, but not quite nailing the likeness we have seen on her brother Johnny Storm or indeed the Mister Fantastic release. I think Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm will perhaps take some time for Hasbro to perfect in terms of a likeness similar to what we’ve seen in the past with Chris Evans, who took several figure releasess until his Captain America headsculpt was perfected The Invisible Woman is engineered and articulated so that the figure works well with her various included accessories and hand gestures. We have, however, been shortchanged on full matching pairs of hands, which may frustrate some fans when she is on display with nothing to hold in the single left gripping hand, and no pair of clenched fists to illustrate her preparing for a fight. Definitely a team figure rather than being individually stand out, and she does look great posed with the rest of the Fantastic Four. “You don’t wanna just… crush him” Our reviews of The Fantastic Four: First Steps Marvel Legends wave is written ahead of the movie release. The Thing is seen with a number of looks during the scenes and images we’ve had so far from First Steps. The figure has gone with the shirtless variation seen when The Thing is pulling the boat in the water. This has allowed the figure to retain a uniformity with the other characters by way of a set of blue cast ribbed and ridged trousers with white and black trim at the feet, and a white belt with black trim and an embossed Fantastic Four logo. A second logo also exists on the side of each leg along with some silver components whose purpose remains a mystery. The upper body is that of the exposed Thing skin with stone like panels interlocking in an orange plastic and then washed to create that overall look we are so familiar with. This principle is also applied to the feet which are uncovered, and to the head. The head replicates actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, with the more comic book accurate flat mouth, the thick ridge and eyebrows with expressive blue eyes peering out from under the brow, obviously applied using facial printing, considering their realism.  In hand, there is an initial question I certainly asked myself about The Thing’s height. As with all the Fantastic Four characters that make up this wave, this is The Thing’s debut in the MCU, and our initial perceptions of his size are perhaps driven by the comic book appearances and associated figures. I initially thought that the MCU Thing is too small, but having compared it to the onscreen team shots, you can see that Hasbro have nailed the proportions. As a bulkier character,  accessories were always going to be minimal, and all we have for Thing is a second pair of hands giving you the choice between a pair of clenched ‘clobbering’ fists or a pair of open grappling hands. These pop on and off with a degree of force needed due to their size, but that size also means the pegs are robust and there is no real risk of damage. The Fantastic Four wrist device worn by all the team sits on The Thing’s right wrist, and can be removed if you wish while the hand itself is off. Articulation comes in at 19 points in total, all of which are pin-less, as is now standard. The joints are more robust due to The Thing’s bulky physique, but have the same range of motion as a standard human figure with a good level of bend in both the knees and elbows, supported by the surrounding joints. This means Thing can be posed in a number of positions, such as running into battle, getting ready to fight, or ready to clobber an opponent. His bulk and large feet profile keep him stable once posed. The only potential miss in the articulation configuration is the lack of any butterfly shoulders for Thing. As it stands, his hands cannot extend in enough to meet each other, removing the ability to pose Thing with his fist in his other hand, signalling he is ready to give someone a pounding. Of the six-figure wave, The Thing is pretty much the headline figure in terms of proportions and presence, looking fantastic (pun intended) on his own or assembled with the wider group. Articulation is on par if not better than comparable MCU figures of this size, such as Hulk or Thanos, and the execution of the rock like skin is impressive. The costume choice feels like a sensible one to show off that skin texturing, although we shall have to see if this is the look he fields the most. EB Games in Canada has listed a brand new McFarlane DC Multiverse Exclusive release of Wonder Woman in the 'Patina Edition' bronzed paint decor. The Classic Wonder Woman will come with axe, sword and shield as well as a display base. There is also a collector card, with its own display stand included. The Gold Label release in collector packaging is limited to 5250 units, and the front sticker indicates that in the US this is a McFarlane Store Exclusive. EB Games are expecting to ship this in July 2025. Also listed on the EB Games site is a new 'Black Light' edition release of Lock Up from Batman: The Animated Series. Lock Up comes with a night stick, and the black light stand that shows the the Black Light paintwork. This set is limited to 5300 units but it is unclear as yet as to which US retailer will hold this as an exclusive, although Entertainment Earth are likely considering they've carried most of the other Black Light releases. Hasbro's first Super Deluxe release, Dragon Man, is getting closer to release and Hasbro have now released new promo images of the figure and the box. The figure will be on display at SDCC 2025 at the Hasbro booth, with the figure due to shop later this Summer, sometime after the original scheduled date of May 2025. Mezco Toyz are gearing up for SDCC 2025 and their own Mezco Con Event. The first exclusive for the Summer Convention is confirmed as Nightwing, the New 52 Edition. The One:12 Collective release will feature a tailored outfit as well as four head options, a selection of weapons and effect pieces and the usual display stand. The Exclusive Nightwing can be ordered now, only through Mezco's online store ,which includes international shipping options. It will ship out after the end of SDCC 2025. “Flame On” Our reviews of The Fantastic Four: First Steps Marvel Legends wave is written ahead of the movie release. It contains no spoilers other than the imagery used on the packaging and figures, all of which has been seen in the trailers.  The first MCU Fantastic Four figures landed on the 1st of July 2025 to collectors worldwide, a six figure wave that incorporated the full Fantastic Four team as well as a ‘flame on’ version of Johnny Storm and the new Silver Surfer. The packaging mirrored the dimensions and layout of the current Legends packaging, but completely redesigned everything else. The look of the Fantastic Four figure boxes moves away from the usual sleek black to an off white base colour, with deep blue logos and nameplates, and even a blue colour to the ‘Legends’ wording of the Marvel Legends logo. This is very much intended to give the figures the same feel as the movie, as though coming from an alternative timeline with a 50s and 60s vibe. This even extends to the use of the old Hasbro logo bottom right.  The artwork on the box side is retained, but shaped in an offcentre blue frame. These are realistic illustrations against deep orange coloured backdrops. The full image is placed on the box reverse, where we find the character posed against a bold orange circle. Unusually, there is no background text or synopsis for the movie itself. The figure is set against a blue card back which incorporates the four circular designs that are applied to our four main characters - designs that are also used on the box itself around the character name plates, apart from on the Silver Surfer. The Human Torch is one of two Johnny Storm figures included in the six-figure wave, and both this ‘Flame On’ version and the standard suited  version share the same base body & head. For this fully flamed version, that original FF suited body is cast in translucent red plastic throughout with only minor paint application in black on some of the lines of the suit and on the Fantastic Four logo on the centre of the chest. Over this, we get more fire effects in a translucent orange. These flames are applied on the feet and lower legs, around the hands and wrists, and over Johnny’s shoulders. They help in translating the base body into one you can visualise as being engulfed in flames. These parts are mainly non-removable, with Hasbro making a decision to glue these into position. You can get the wrist pieces off once the hands are removed, but the ones on the feet, hands and shoulders are not readily accessible. That feels like a missed opportunity in allowing these to perhaps be cross-functional with the other Johnny Storm, as we do see him use some of his flame powers while retaining his normal suited look. The headsculpt is the same as the other figure, although the likeness to actor Joseph Quinn is less obvious in this format, with the only decor in the eyes, which are a glowing orange against the red of the head itself, and in some darker patches around the forehead and cheeks to further define those features. The standard blonde hair piece has been replaced with a flaming version in the same orange flames used elsewhere, with some red applied to the edges as the flames lick outward.  Comparing the figure as a whole to the on-screen scenes, there is an obvious colour issue with the figure, which is far too red in its colour choice compared to the lighter orange flaming look we see when Johnny is fully transformed. Whether this is a deliberate decision to best create a character who is essentially on fire in 6-inch scale, or whether the colour palette is from concept art or earlier CGI, we may never know.  The Human Torch has only two further accessories to allow you to vary the look. These are alternative hands, each with non-removable flamed effects over the translucent red plastic. These mean you can vary the hand options through clenched fists to open palms or a mix of the two. As you swap out the left hand, you will find that the removable Fantastic Four wrist device is still present on the Human Torch version as an individual piece. Articulation is identical to the standard figure, with 19 pinless joints in total. The translucent plastic does reveal some of the internal workings of these joints, with particular visibility in the arms and knees. This may be another reason a darker base red was chosen. None of the flame sections present any kind of obstruction, so our Human Torch has a full range of motion within the joints provided,  but like Silver Surfer - and more so in this format as a flying character - the choice of a basic ball joint torso over a full pivot leaves the central body mass limited on abcrunch. Similarly, the head has a single neck joint and not the newer dual joint necks we’ve seen on other Hasbro lines, does stop the head from looking up and away in a flight position. That being said, Johnny Storm will sit comfortably on an after-market flight stand and achieve a number of flight positions, mainly vertical rather than horizontal, due to the joint restrictions.  Including both versions of Johnny Storm in the launch wave was a relatively strong move by Hasbro, allowing collectors a choice between the two looks in any group setting. The flame on Human Torch version is probably the weaker of the two choices, with some issues around colour choice for the burning effect being too dark with earlier iterations of the character from the comics being a more accurate orange (see Walgreens exclusive 2018).  The figure is also lacking in accessories and parts. A stand would have been nice, considering such a large version was afforded to the Silver Surfer. Flame blast effects are also lacking in the set, as is the ability to remove the flame effects Hasbro has created and to then be able to share them between both versions of Johnny. There is perhaps a perfect Johnny Storm somewhere between the two figures, with a suited Johnny more widely engulfed in flames as seen when he flying and carrying The Thing. Those with some desire to make this a reality should be able to with the application of some basic customising techniques. The Human Torch is the decidedly average release and the least accurate of the wav,e and the one that may end up hanging around longer than the other members of the team. The two exclusive 'Red Platinum' McFarlane Superman movie figures of Superman Robot and Mister Terrific have been listed on the Walmart website in the US. McFarlane's third release of their new Elite Edition series is taken from a brand new licence, the Persona 3 Reload video game by Atlus, and features a 7-inch deluxe figure of The Protagonist. The figure will come with 4 alternative face plates, extra hands, sword, and Evoker, as well as the usual Elite Points card. It went live for pre-order as of the 3rd of July 2025 and is reported to be a January 2026 release. Makoto Yuki, the protagonist, evolves from an orphaned teenager to a Persona-wielding hero.
