Grail figures are those that are either hard to find, or at a price that is outside what a collector is willing to pay - Loki was one of those figures for me. Having been released as part of the original Thor Movie, Loki's popularity rocketed when he turned up as the main villain in Avengers - and coupled with DST never rereleasing the same figure he has hit significant heights in price. I recently threw in a cheeky best offer on Ebay for a loose Loki and it was accepted. Loose is ideal for me as I collect loose, the price is lower BUT most importantly I dont have to consider the unthinkable and remove a very rare/expensive figure from its packaging Loki is not the greatest figure DST have done, but it is solid enough and a passing likeness to Hiddlestone. Articulation is basic and you can get Loki into a neutral pose or threatening with his staff. The armour is well sculpted and well painted, The pants look a little odd but I didnt pay much attention to what he wore in the movie so are likely a match. The one I got didnt have the base accessory so I cannot comment on that. All in all Loki is a good addition to the DST Movie collection and some quick images have been added HERE in the Marvel gallery.

Took a trip to Films & Figures in Chorley today and picked up the Diamond Select Chitauri from Avengers Assemble. I had always steered away from the Chitauri, there was something about it in images that looked wrong. The figure always looked a bit cartoony, particularly the feet. However, upon finding him loose today in F&F (and for under a tenner) I took a punt - and can honestly say I am very pleased with this new addition to the Marvel shelf I dont plan to do a full review on the Chitauri, but he has been photographed and added to the Marvel images page (2010-2014). In brief, the figure is nice and heavy - as you would expect from Diamond. Articulation is limited due to his armour and general bulk, but you can tweak his ankles/knes as well as his shoulders. The head is on a nice ball joint, so can be moved in most directions. There is no accessories with the Chitauri. If bought packaged he does come with a balcony rail to link in with the one that came with Hawkeye. Paint apps are very good and he is more weathered than he looks in other press shots. He is now stood menacing the Avengers alongside Red Skull. I would hope, perhaps through similar bargains, to add more of these in the future to make a trio of these bad boys.
