- Star Wars Celebration, Kylo Ren Hasbro 6 inch Black Series exclusive
I finally left Day 3 of Celebration with an elusive Kylo Ren in hand. The intention is to get him back home this week and then do a full review. However, for now here are some images (not the best quality) taken in the hotel room.
- Star Wars Celebration : Rogue One Gallery
One of the larger exhibits at Star Wars Celebration London 2016 is that of the Rogue One costumes and models. Here is our gallery of images from this exhibit. It's fun to spot which, if not all, of these will go on to become Action Figures
- Hasbro Black Series - update for Jyn Erso, unmasked Kylo Ren + new images
Day two of Star Wars Celebration London, and the Hasbro/FP.com display had been "re-arranged". The noticeable absence was the Black Series A New Hope Princess Leia, no doubt removed overnight due to the press she had been getting in day 1. Remember that Hasbro have made comments in regards the figure... “the Leia figure shown at SWCE is a pre-production ‘first shot’ and is not final deco. We are addressing the delicacies of lips, eyes and eyebrows. The hood is also not stitched as it will be in final product.” - Steve Evans, Hasbro Now remember my speculation yesterday of a basic unmasked Kylo being released. Well that is exactly what took the Leia spot in the cabinet. The loose figure was out on Day 1, and Day 2 he was there in his box marked as #29 in the range. Of course also added was the first Rogue One Black Series figure, Sergeant Jyn Erso. She was on display as both loose and boxed, and the most interesting part was her numbering as #22. This effectively see's her leapfrogging all the other figures to the next numerical release after #21 Farmboy Luke. #22 Sergeant Jyn Erso #26 Unmasked Kylo Ren #29 C-3PO, Resistance Base #30 Princess Leia, A New Hope And taking up slots #23. #24, #25, #27, #28 Darth Revan Snow Trooper AT-AT Driver Sabine Wren That leaves a spare spot by my reckoning (Obi Wan?) It therefore looks like we will see the new wave as part of a Rogue One Force Friday in he early autumn (September) spearheaded by a Jyn Erso and containing the other figures we've seen - probably across 2 waves initially with other's from Rogue one slotted in. A Shadow Trooper feels a must from Rogue One, as does the Sand Trooper with retooled back pack (yes, it's changed - wait for our Rogue One gallery early next week). New image gallery from Day 2
- Sat-TOY-Day News & Reviews - Issue 33
Happy Sat-TOY-Day everyone! CLICK HERE for this week's issue. Well, here I am posting this weeks Sat-TOY-Day Issue 33 from my hotel at Star Wars Celebration! There was just too much other news to wait for another week or so. One of the bigger announcements this week was from DC Collectibles and their new CW TV show DC figures. There was then a new collectable line from Disney Stores AND another raft of SDCC exclusive announcements. In reviews we have a very special figure, the first 5 star+ figure we have reviewed - NECA's Weyland Yutani Commando www.facebook.com/mephitsu www.twitter.com/mephitsu www.issuu.com/mephitsu
- Star Wars Celebration : Jakks Pacific and Lego
Considering the size of their figures, the Jakks Pacific booth was pretty tiny with limited product on display and a good percentage turned over to the sale of the Exclusive Captain Phasma. There was a sign indicating new figures of C-3PO (78cm) and Rey (50cm) coming in Autumn, from what I could see only the Rey was on display and you assume the 3PO, and most likely lots of other new product, are being held back for SDCC The Lego booth was great fun for the kids. You choose the Dark Side or Light Side on entry and then went on to build a mini X-Wing or Tie Fighter. You passed the built models to the staff who then rewarded you with a sealed ship - we got an A-Wing and a Tie Fighter. Also at the booth was a giant Lego Death Star, complete with mini-figures. On display were the newer sets from Lego, including the Freemaker sets.
- Star Wars Celebration : Hot Toys and Kotobukiya
Hot Toys, Sideshow, Kotobukiya, Beast Kingdom, Gentle Giant and EFX had a shared booth, complete with stunning displays of current and new product... checkout the gallery below. Kotobukiya were also present at the Star Images booth (UK importer), particularly the drool worthy First Order Storm Trooper Legion
- Star Wars Celebration : Tamashii Nations Booth (Movie Realization) Gallery and new concepts
The small, but perfectly formed, Tamashii Nations booth had the bulk of their Realization figures on display - including cameo's from Spider-Man and a Toy Story Chogokin who will be released in Nov/Dec this year. Also adourning the booth, and I guess overlooked by many, were concept images which we are hoping will be new Realization figures in the near future Darth Maul is not looking particularly different to his Episode 1 appearance, and neither is Queen Amidala - and she would represent the first female into the range. I love the IG88 and the Gamorrean Guard, much more in keeping with the Ancient Japan. There was also a Shadow Trooper which I think is a decent bet for a figure as it will use the existing sculpts Checkout our full gallery below
- Star Wars Celebration : The FIRST Black Series figure from Rogue One is confirmed, Jyn Erso
As the first day of Celebration drew towards a close, the Rogue One panel was one that most fans had been waiting for. Hosted by Gwendoline Christie and in the company of the full cast, the panel revealed a Celebration Reel for the movie - and for action figure fans showed off this first Black Series 6 inch figure from the movie. The lead heroine Jyn Erso will arrive in 6" form later this year. The exact character name on the box is Sergeant Jyn Erso (Jedha). Jedha being one of the planets the Rogue One story will visit. Jyn will be packed wth a blaster, and come with a removable hood. And the interesting element for collectors is that it looks like Hasbro are keeping faith with the phase 3 black with red band packaging that has been in use since Force Friday 2015.
- Star Wars Celebration : Hasbro Black Series and 3.75 news and gallery
Here is our Hasbro Star Wars Celebration Gallery and a round up of the key Star Wars Hasbro news from SWCE. The bulk of the Black Series news comes from the Forbidden Planet Booth. The Kylo Ren exclusive was on display in two areas, but had already sold out on Friday. We spoke to a lady from FP.com who said we would need to be in the queue by at least 6am on Saturday and Sunday to get a ticket. Also at the FP booth was a cabinet full of Black Series figures, including what will be the next releases. These new releases were displayed with boxed for C-3PO and Leia (29 and 30) and confirm that the Red Phase 3 packaging will continue. How these figures will break down into waves is as yet unknown, and do we read anything into the unmasked Kylo Ren being lined up with these other new figures without the other parts that are included in his SWCE exclusive. Will Kylo and perhaps Ben Kenobi get vanilla releases in the next few months? - Snowtrooper - AT-AT Driver - Darth Revan - Sabine - Princess Leia (she will be #30) - C-3PO with Red Arm (he will be #29 - Unmasked Kylo Ren? Also at the FP.com booth was a shelf of the new 3.75" figures, with the new A-Wing, the new Rey and what looks to be a new Two Pack containing prisoner Poe Dameron and another Snowtrooper. Away from the Hasbro booth, A1 Toys had the SDCC / LFCC Obi Wan on display - and as a surprise, you could pre-order this at Celebration for delivery to your home on the 1st of August. A1 confirmed this would not be replicated online, it was purely for SWCE attendees. We also found the SDCC Toys R Us Droid 3-pack on display at one vendor, priced at £160

"A #prednesday debut! At last - the contents of the Predator accessory pack, pre-orders will start this week. #sdcc" - Randy Falk, NECA (Twitter) Pre-orders should be up later this week. .
