The new Medicom MAFEX releases of Deadpool and Wolverine, as seen last month at the MAFEX exhibition, are the two Marvel figures included in the August 2025 pre-orders. Wolverine will come with three Hugh Jackman heads, but no masked version. There will also be alternative hands, claws in and out. Deadpool has a series of interchangeable eye pieces to vary his expressions, he will also come with extra hands and a pair of alternative forearms to recreate the opening scenes where he battles using the Wolverine skeleton claws. Other accessories include another set of Wolverine Adamantium Bones, twin Katana's, twin pistols, twin Gold Desert Eagles, and a TVA TemPad. "The blessing of the Great Mothers shall protect you in battle against the Jedi. Go, now. Let none pass" Death Troopers have been part of the Star Wars Universe since their introduction in 2016 in Rogue One. Since then, we’ve seen them crop up as elite bodyguards in Star Wars Rebels, as well as making an appearance in Andor and in the Battlefront II video game. The Death Troopers’ most recent outing was during the events of Ahsoka, Season 1, where they were part of the stranded force under the command of Grand Admiral Thrawn. These Death Troopers, like much of Thrawn’s force, were damaged and patched together using Nightsisters' Magic.  The Night Trooper, as seen in Ahsoka Season 1, was an August 2025 release in the Star Wars Black Series. It is part of Wave 22 alongside Ezra Bridger, also from Ahsoka, Merrin from Jedi: Survivor, and the new A New Hope Versions of Han and Chewie. The Night Trooper uses the darker blue/green colouring assigned to Ahsoka and is number 17 in the Ahsoka collection. While the numbering has got a little mixed up ahead of the Night Trooper, the side artwork connects directly to Anakin Skywalker’s artwork. Anakin was also labelled as number 17, but should have been number 16. The Night Trooper artwork continues onward to connect to Ezra from the same wave.  The figure card back, still in the same accent colour, also features illustrations of a backdrop of Thrawn’s base on Peridea, the area in which the Night Troopers faced down Ezra and Sabine as they tried to reach The Chimaera.  The Night Trooper is a fully new figure built in a similar construction to other armoured figures like Clones and Stormtroopers. Everything is cast in black, with a glossier black on the outer armour, and a duller black that makes up the joints and connections of the undersuit. Each armoured panel has the Kintsugi repairs in a gold finish; these are sculpted rather than simply being painted on. Most panels also feature sculpted wrappings, painted in red to reflect the armour being held together and bonded with Nightsister magic.  The new Night Trooper shares no parts with the older 2016 figure from Rogue One and is quite different in terms of stature and proportions, with a much more natural shape and gait to the newer figure. The older Death Trooper always felt too skinny, unless it was wearing the tactical gear included in one of the multi-packs. The head is a Death Trooper helmet also treated with the gold line repairs, although here this is painted only and not part of the physical sculpt. The helmet is hollow and cracked to the left hand side beneath the visor, exposing the nose and mouth of the Trooper within. This reflects the damage inflicted by Sabine’s blaster during their fight. These Troopers are then revealed to be essentially undead and animated by the Great Mothers and the exposed head reflects this with a dark brown, mummified head sculpt complete with exposed skeletal teeth and overlaid with a black wash to bring out this detailing.  The Night Troopers are armed only with the E-11D blaster carbine. This appears identical to the original 2016 release, but our review version is certainly much crisper and detailed than the older weapon. This may mean a new cast was used or a crisper cast achieve with what does feel a harder plastic. The older weapon did carry more colouring, with the new version a base black with a touch of gun metal around the barrel. The red indicator lights seen on the 2016 version are not carried forward. The gun fits in the right hand, gripped by the left. Like most Black Series releases, there is no alternative hand options and an opportunity therefore is lost to include some clawing hands for the full on undead look. There are 17 points of articulation to work with, all now pin-less, which is another enhancement over the original Death Trooper release. There are no butterfly joint,s which is marginally disappointing as the Night Trooper cannot quite get into some of the firing poses that you see with other Imperial and Clone Troopers. There is also a restriction by way of the shoulder pauldrons, which lack any flexibility or the ability to withdraw under the armour, keeping the arms limited to how far they can be raised. I do like the torso joint movement and that of the twin joint neck; this allows some ‘zombified’ posing with the Night Trooper lurching forward with head angled.  These sort of poses are supported further by the legs, which retain a thigh swivel as well as the newer knee swivel. This does mean the legs can easily be twisted out of line, and perhaps this is not a bad thing for more extreme poses of an undead Trooper. The Night Trooper can kneel if needed and holds stable when positioned with no obvious weakness in the ankle joints, although it is worth calling out that these do not pivot forward by any degree due to the leg armour.  The Star Wars Black Series Night Trooper is a fun figure, replicating one of the Night Troopers seen on screen during the final act of Ahsoka Season 1. While not quite an army builder due to the unique armour repairs, you will get away with multiple Night Troopers if you want to build Thrawn a large army. An extra head or hands would have helped with those wanting multiples. Zombie claw hands would also have been a nice inclusion.  The proportions and articulation are improved on the original 2016 figure, and there will be potential here to create a clean version at some point in the future, although that will require much of the armour parts to be recreated without damage. A well-executed figure in what promises to be one of the strongest Black Series waves to date, looking at the other figures in the case. Announced via Gizmodo is a new Marvel Legends 2-Pack featuring Invincible Iron-Man vs The Mandarin. Extremis Iron-Man comes with an unmasked Tony Stark head, alternative hands, and repulsor blasts. This is a re-use of the 2023 Extremis Iron-Man. The Mandarin will include two head options, allowing him to be displayed as both young and aged Mandarin, complete with alternative hands and magic effects. After a couple of teases, Hasbro has now revealed in full their next Maximum Series release of Deadpool. The set will include Deadpool with two head options and a raft of extra hands. You also get five different guns, with two accompanying effect parts. There is a pair of swords, a knife, a stick of dynamite, and a Chimichanga. After the demise of Diamond Comics and the immediate 'shuttering' of Diamond Select Toys earlier in 2025, collectors and fans have been awaiting any kind of news or confirmation of what might happen next with their upcoming releases and the wider licences as a whole. We've now been advised that any item not produced (and we are unclear what these might be) is now considered cancelled. Notifications are now starting to go out from stockists, cancelling pre-orders. For me, the most exciting Diamond Select line at the point the business ceased was their Lord of the Rings line, which was very much finding its feet and selling out each wave with relative ease. The cancellations have now gone out confirming that Eowyn and the Witch King, the next planned releases, did not get far enought into production (as far as we can ascertain) and are not being released. This will now also be true for the other upcoming pre-orders, including the first figures from The Hobbit: Bilbo and Tauriel. The same fate will apply to the most recent reveals of Galadrial and King Aragorn, the recent preview of Azog, and the long-delayed and oft pushed back Gandalf the White. The Diamond Lord of the Rings series was the first since Toybiz to get into the heart of the franchise, and we should still celebrate the figures we did get over its short 4-year lifespan. Diamond did manage to bring us the Fellowship of the Ring in its entirety, as well as Christopher Lee's Saruman and Gollum! The hordes of darkness were also fleshed out with releases of Lurtz, Uruk Hai warriors, and Moria Goblins. The crowning figure of the line, despite issues in its design and stability, has to be the only build-a-figure of the line, the armoured Sauron who can also be flanked by his Ring Wraiths We now look to the future, with S.H. Figuarts tentatively exploring the LOTR world, but at a 6-inch scale. There is definitely a market for these classic movies, and we can therefore have a glimmer of hope that we may perhaps see more LOTR releases in the future once licencing agreements and the solvency arrangements have all been resolved. A new McFarlane DC Direct two-pack from Batman: The Animated Series has been revealed and opened for pre-ordering. The 'Mad Love' set features new figures of The Joker and Harley Quinn. The set includes alternative hands for both characters, as well as Harley Quinn's staff. The set also includes collector cards for the pair. NECA has unveiled three new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures all shipping in the final, including Nobody, Cyborg Donatello, and Raphael Shredder, all taken from the Eastman & Laird Mirage Comics. Nobody will come with a soft goods cape, extra hands, a rifle, and a grappling hook. He is due to release in Q4 of 2025. Cyborg Donatello includes two head options, extra hands, robot knife hand, a bo-staff, and even a party hat. Like Raphael, this one is a Q1 2026 release. “I'm the Doctor, you don't have to stand over there, come and have a look, it's called the TARDIS.” Character Toys and B&M Stores broke with a little bit of established tradition for one of their two August 2025 exclusive Doctor Who sets. While TARDIS releases have been a stalwart of the line, they are usually base models with no electronics and a Doctor figure included. For 2025, and to fill in what has been a gap in the line, there was a solo release of The Fifteenth Doctor’s TARDIS and a lights & sounds electronic model at that.  The boxed packaging remains broadly the same as the last B&M TARDIS release, the 6th Doctor from The Ultimate Adventure. This features a square box with front and left side windows, with each window framed by the cardboard of the box. The base colouring of the packaging itself is white, with TARDIS decor to the bottom left corner, and a coloured accent across the midst of the box, which is the attributed colour for the particular Doctor on which the set is based. This is the pink hue assigned to the 15th Doctor and used on the single boxed & carded figures of The Doctor and Ruby released to date, creating a themed group for those collecting boxed.  Around the main frame surrounding the window are the usual diamond call out panels confirming that usual 5.5 inch collector scale, as well as the lights & sounds features this time round. We also have the standard foil ‘Limited Edition’ sticker to the bottom right, and to the top right, a circular panel showing the interior of the Fifteenth Doctor’s TARDIS. The right side and rear of the box are fairly plain, the back turned over to a large text overview of the TARDIS from a wider history context, and that of the Fifteenth Doctor. The TARDIS can be removed from the box without any direct damage, allowing collectors to repack if they wish. The ship is clipped into an inner tray and secured at the base with two plastic clips, which can be screwed out to release the ship. The backing card is Time Vortex themed with more of that pink hue fading in and out to darker purples. You will also find in the box a piece of rice paper wrapping a cardboard insert of a second TARDIS console room insert, keep this safe as it allows the set to be given an alternative look. The TARDIS is built on the long standing Character Options New Series TARDIS base and features the single plinth base and a four layer roof. The TARDIS is cast in a dark and deep blue with a darker wash to bring out the wooden texture within the plastic. The windows are an ice white with a hint of blue, with white frames and a degree of transparency. The door panel is a printed sticker, now in black with white text and adjacent to a silver door handle and keyhole. While some of the TARDIS models have had an opening panel, this one has been fixed closed. The Public Call Box signage on the roof is similarly a black sticker with white text, and on our review version bought from B&M, there is a bit of peeling on some of the corners. The 15th Doctor TARDIS prop on screen does feature notches at the top and bottom of the side columns, as the base model does not include these Character has opted to paint a black line rather than to update the mol,d which would have added significant value to the set. The Windows, Police Box Signage, and these painted ‘notches’ are repeated on all four sides of the TARDIS, with the only other variance on the back face where you can see the battery compartment door and the drilled speaker holes. The top light is reworked with a new, more rounded framework and the translucent glass bulb within. Both doors will push open with a spring mechanism and a click into the open position. The left hand door is then closed by hand, moving it past that retention spring, where it then moves back into the closed position. The left hand door is operated by a switch in the floor, which is much easier than trying to close it manually with your fingers in such a tight space.  Internally, a cardboard insert creates the impression of the TARDIS console room, with the piece arriving with the bright white console room used initially by the Fourteenth Doctor and then the Fifteenth. The alternative piece, seen earlier when we unpacked, gives you the option of overlaying this with a card backdrop for the Thirteenth Doctor. The card insert has to be folded across the scored lines, then inserted round the first door on the left, then pushed round and then back on itself to sit on the right-hand side.  The Thirteenth Doctor panel can be removed the same way, revealing the Fifteenth Doctor interior behind it. I would assume this more modern console room can also be removed, but it seems to be cut wider than the other panel, and my fingers were not dexterous enough to maneuver it out of position.  The TARDIS is well scaled for the Doctor Who figures, and fits alongside the more recently announced Fourteenth and Fifteenth Doctor figures, and the slightly older Thirteenth Doctor variants. The Doctor’s can be posed inside the cavity, either standing in the opening fully, or coming out of the right hand opening panel as is often seen on the show and in promo images.  While all other B&M released TARDIS sets have had their electronics removed, this 2025 version has full light and sound capacity. You need to install three AAA batteries, which are not included, into the rear battery compartment. This is opened using a small screwdriver. The TARDIS comes with two sound effects, both activated by a pressure switch on the base. Once the other base switch is moved to ‘on’ and the batteries are installed, then the lights and sounds will activate for landing as you put the TARDIS down, and for taking off when you pick it back up again. The light beacon glows and throbs alongside the sound effects, with a blue hue to the light. Considering the availability of a power source and a light, it would have been nice to see the interior also be lit up - but that feature has not been included.  At £19.99, the Fifteenth Doctor’s TARDIS is incredible value in the modern collecting world. It brings a TARDIS option for both the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Doctors. "Daleks are such boring conversationalists" The first of the 2025 Doctor Who Exclusive Collector Sets for B&M were announced and landed in the same week of August 2025, a reasonably well coordinated launch vs usual for the North of the country at least. The latest addition to the History of the Daleks line was number 21 and featured two new Daleks as seen in ‘Eve of the Daleks’, the New Year's special from 2022 featuring Jodie Whittaker's 13th Doctor. The set followed the standard packaging design as established in 2023 for the 60th Anniversary and beyond, with a white base box featuring a TARDIS design in the bottom left corner and the current diamond Who logo in the top left. Each package features an accent colour for the era of Doctor it is taken from, with this the first from the 13th Doctor, who has been given a red theme design. The episode name is listed on the top right of the box, while the bottom right includes the numbering as number 21 in the History of the Daleks series. This does mean that we have skipped number 20 for the time being, but that is expected to follow in the second batch of 2025 B&M releases. The usual diamond call-outs to the side of the window confirm the figures as ‘Executioner Daleks’ and that these are part of the 5.5-inch Collector Series. We also get the gold foil ‘Limited Edition’ sticker now featured on the box with no defined window to the box. Round the back of the box, we have a further splash of the red colour as a base border, a repeat of the diamond logo, and a large and in-depth text write-up about Eve of the Dalek,s including some behind-the-scenes facts around the shooting of the episode. The box is opened via the top flap, and the inner cardboard sleeve - with the standard blue vortex design - slides out along with the plastic tray. Like the newer Collector releases, there is no window to the box, and the plastic moulded tray around the Daleks is glued to the backing card, making this a collector set that can only be opened once, with the opening process damaging either the backing card, or the enclosing plastic window if you choose to cut this surgical to preserve the vortex background. The two Dalek Executioners included are built on the established New Series Dalek body. In the episode, the props were more or less the standard bronze Dalek colour, but the Character Set has played a little with the overall look, giving the Daleks’s a darker chocolate finish, with a reddish hue as seen under the atmospheric lighting of the episode. vs the 2024 Parting of the Ways Dalek (right) This deeper rich bronze is contrasted by a lighter gold across the skirt hemispheres and the slats of the mid-section. The base of the skirt, and the mesh behind the mid-section slats, are a darker grey, with the red hued bronze returning for the dome with transparent lights.  The Daleks are fitted with the updated arms and guns seen during Eve of the Daleks, with a manipulator arm with a clawed grip end in black plastic. This arm is quite soft in terms of the base plastic, and one of my Daleks came with a warped arm straight out of the box. The Gatling Gun is cast in silver and is much bulkier than the usual Dalek gun-arm. Both still slot into the square sockets on the mid-section. The same applies to the eye stalk, with a silver stalk, translucent discs, and a black eye section with a blue iris.  While both Daleks are essentially identical, Character has included different decals under the eye stalk of the two drones, giving them a slight point of difference from each other. Articulation is the same configuration as usual, with an eye stalk that raises up and down in its socket and a dome that spins a full 360 degrees. The two arms are in ball joint sockets, so they have a wider range of motion than the eye stalk within the extent of the square frame. The Dalek is sat on some small wheels under the base with two fixed at the back and a pivot on the front. This allows the Dalek to be pushed around while also giving it a slight lift off the ground for display. It is great to see the Character line exploring the more modern era of Dalek appearances, with the Eve of the Daleks being a solid choice in terms of finally giving the 13th Doctor some ‘foes’ to face off against while also giving us a pair of Daleks that look and feel varied to the now well utilised Bronze New Series Daleks. At £22.99 a set, these still reflect great value for money, and hopefully the B&M supply chain will ensure sufficient stocks for everyone, and perhaps a few spare as I can see some customising options transplanting some of the older arm parts onto the standard bronze Daleks for some earlier 13th Doctor Daleks from Revolution. McFarlane will be adding a new Batmobile to their 7-inch DC Multiverse line with the release of the Batmobile from The Batman (2022). The 19 inch long Batmobile features rolling wheels and an opening drivers side door, with the ability to seat a standard 7 inch figure inside. The Batmobile is boxed up into a closed package and is packed alongside a collector card. This Gold Label release is exclusive to Amazon and the McFarlane Store. In Canada, it is sold through EB Games. It will be a September 2025 release. The Batmobile is the main vehicle used by Batman. It is a modified muscle car custom built by Bruce Wayne, containing multiple gadgets as well as being heavily armored and fire resistant. The Batmobile helps aid Batman in his war on crime. Incredibly detailed vehicle based off the The Batman feature film. Measures approximately 19" long. Features rolling wheels and the driver's side door opens for access.
