- Star Wars Black Series : Grand Moff Tarkin
Hasbro revealed the release of a Grand Moff Tarkin figure in the 6" Black Series range. Tarkin is based on his appearance in A New Hope, but works just as well for a Rogue One display obviously. As Tarkin carries no weapons or accessories, Hasbro have included the Interrogation Droid from A New Hope as his accessory. This Droid is a piece they've wanted to release for a while and this feels a great figure to include it with. We initially thought Tarkin would be released in the Autumn as part of the Force Friday event - however, the release date has since been updated to an eye watering Spring 2018, a whole year to wait before Tarkin can take up Vader's leash and take over your Imperial Forces

- Star Wars Black Series Grand Admiral Thrawn (Rebels) 6" release for Force Friday
We finished day 1 of Star Wars Celebration 2017 with a Black Series reveal of Commander Gree. We thought that might be all until the Saturday Hasbo panel, but no - as Day 2 closed, Dave Filoni helped reveal the next Star Wars 6" Rebels release. The stunning looking Grand Admiral Thrawn is taken from his recent run in Rebels and sculpted in a realistic style. He will be the 5th Rebels figure in the line, following Kanan, Ahsoka, Sabine and Hera. In fact Thrawn may overtake Hera to retail as she appears to have been taken off the release schedule and Thrawn is down for a 1st September 2017 Force Friday release. STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES 6-INCH THRAWN Figure (Ages 4 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $19.99/Available: Fall 2017) But that is not all. For SDCC 2017, the Thrawn figure is getting a deluxe release. He will be packed in special packaging and will come with a wealth of accessories as seen from his collection on Rebels. Parts will include Hera's family heirloom and Commander Gree's Clone Trooper Helmet. You will also get the mask from a Jedi Temple Guard and a statue of the ysalimiri. And the eagle eyed among you will have spotted the Easter Egg in the Rebels series that Thrawn has the Grail from Indiana Jones in his display - this is also included. The SDCC version will be sold at the show from the 20th to 23rd of July. The RRP is a heavy $49.99 - that's £40 in UK, but unless there in an international option to get this you will be relying on secondary market and will likely be paying much more. STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES 6-INCH GRAND ADMIRAL THRAWN (SDCC Exclusive) (Ages 4 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $49.99/Available at Comic-Con International in San Diego)
- Gamestop Exclusive Star Wars Black Series Battlefront Pilot?
Reports are coming in from the US that retailer Gamestop has an interesting new Star Wars Black Series 6" figure listed on its stock system. The Black Series Battlefront Pilot has no image, but is listed for pre-order as of 14th of April for $22.99. The release date is obviously an error.. With Battlefront 2 on its way, with a trailer due at Celebration, it would fit that an exclusive figure would follow - as it did for the initial game with the Shock Trooper. The Battlefront 2 panel takes place at 2.30pm (7.30pm UK time) on Saturday 15th and later the same evening is the Hasbro panel (10.30pm UK time). We will update this thread with any details that come out of either panel.
- Star Wars The Last Jedi, Teaser Trailer
The Last Jedi Trailer, as debuted at Star Wars Celebration. Have a watch, then scroll down past the video to see what potential Action Figures the Trailer reveals at this early stage of our countdown to release in December. The 1st of September, 2017 has been confirmed as Force Friday for the release of product from The Last Jedi. Having now seen the trailer, are there any clues or indications of some of the figures we may see on Force Friday... Jedi Rey and Luke Skywalker Luke has been long talked about in the 6" Black Series and Hasbro have said the figure is in the works. Considering the events of The Last Jedi immediately follow The Force Awakens - a Luke release will bridge the two films and has to be one of the first out come September. We've seen Jedi Rey in the 3.75" range, but not yet in the Black Series 6". I suspect that Jedi Rey wil be one of the headliners for Force Friday I also wonder if one of these, most probably Rey, may well be unveiled at Celebration by Hasbro and may be packed in commemorative packaging as the SDCC exclusive for 2017 Poe, BB8 and Finn The images we see of Poe and BB8 see them unchanged from The Force Awakens. Considering Poe as X-Wing pilot is now reasonably hard to find, a re-release of Poe may be a nice touch - either as direct re-release or tweaked to now include a BB8. For Finn, we just get that head shot in some kind of capsule. We can't really see what outfit he is wearing but stills do show him still wearing Poe's jacket. As one of the three main heroes Finn is fairly certain for a release. Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren and Hux It is unclear from this glance of Phasma if there are any changes in her armour. If not, she may just get a re-release, but it would be nice to see if Hasbro would have a stab at a metallic sheen armour? Kylo only makes a brief appearance and is unmasked. We'have had plenty of him to date, but a further Last Jedi release is inevitable. Hux is not seen in the trailer, but was seen in still shots on the Panel. I suspect he will get a cap less and jacket less release at some point - perhaps not immediately. That Speeder.... and others With the current focus on vehicles, the speeder featured in the Teaser may be the larger item release for The Force Awakens. It looks small enough to warrant a 6" release, but if not is a shoe in for 3.75" The other character we saw in stills would be the new Resistance Technician Rose, and of course General Leia Organa. It would be fitting for Leia to get a release, and if Rose is as prominent as made out at the panel then she would be another great female figure to add to the range.

Star Wars Celebration saw the launch of a new Star Wars animated series of short stories and a supporting line of 11" figures. The Forces of Destiny stories will focus on characters like Rey, Jyn, Sabine, Ahsoka and of course Princess Leia. It's goal appears to be to bridge the gap between Action Figures & Dolls and engage more younger female fans. The series will launch in July with books, clothing and the new Adventure Figures (made by Hasbro) arriving at the same time. The first 11" figures shown were Leia, Rey, Sabine and Jyn Erso. Rey will be available in Jakku scavenger outfit and her "Jedi" outfit. Also on show are figures of Chewbacca, R2-D2, Luke (Bespin), Yoda and BB8. Leis is also coming in her Endor outfit with Wicket. Disney and Lucasfilm Celebrate Iconic Heroes from a Galaxy Far, Far Away…with Star Wars Forces of Destiny Micro-series of original, animated shorts will focus on untold stories of everyday heroism that shape the destinies of Rey, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano and others Daisy Ridley, Felicity Jones, Tiya Sircar, Ashley Eckstein and Lupita Nyong’o reprise their roles for new series launching in July Books, apparel and toys including new ‘Adventure Figures’ from Hasbro launching this summer Glendale, Calif. (April 13, 2017) – Disney and Lucasfilm today announced Star Wars Forces of Destiny, a new initiative celebrating the inspiring stories of iconic heroes from across the Star Wars universe. An original series of animated shorts (each 2-3 minutes in length) will explore exciting, all new adventures of key characters including Rey, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano and others, ahead of books and a TV special later in the year. The stories will also be supported by a line of toys from Hasbro, including new ‘Adventure Figures’ – a fusion between traditional dolls and action figures, creating a whole new way to play Star Wars. “Star Wars Forces of Destiny is for anyone who has been inspired by Leia’s heroism, Rey’s courage, or Ahsoka’s tenacity,” said Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm. “We’re thrilled that so many of the original actors are reprising their roles in these shorts which capture the small moments and everyday decisions that shape who these characters are. It is a fun new way for people to experience Star Wars.” Developed by Lucasfilm Animation, Star Wars Forces of Destiny will remain true to the Star Wars canon, showing how choices both big and small ultimately shape the destinies of beloved characters. Launching in July, the animated micro-series will be available on Disney YouTube ahead of a two-part TV special featuring eight additional shorts on Disney Channel in Fall 2017. Fans will be delighted to hear familiar voices in the series, including: Daisy Ridley (Rey), Felicity Jones (Jyn), Tiya Sircar (Sabine), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano) and Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata as narrator). Star Wars Forces of Destiny will also be supported by global product extensions, including books, apparel, bedding, and toys – including the new line of ‘Adventure Figures’ created by Hasbro, which bridges the gap between traditional action figures and dolls. Each individually designed figure features dynamic action, like Rey swinging her lightsaber, along with multiple points of articulation to help recreate the characters’ adventures and heroic moments with different poses. “From Princess Leia to Sabine Wren, Star Wars heroines are unique, and we wanted to represent that in the product line for Star Wars Forces of Destiny,” said Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. “The result is the creation of our new ‘Adventure Figures’ that celebrate the power and stories of these incredible characters and allow kids to recreate their most heroic moments at home.” The 11-inch figures will depict characters including Rey, Jyn Erso, Princess Leia, Sabine Wren, plus loveable sidekicks and epic villains like BB-8, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren and many more. Hasbro is also rolling out Star Wars Forces of Destiny role play and accessories—from Rey’s Extendable Staff, to a new, electronic Jedi Power Lightsaber, which are part of their Star Wars Bladebuilders system. Adds John Frascotti, President of Hasbro: “As the Star Wars fan base has broadened over the last 40 years, we have continued to add new and exciting play experiences to the Star Wars brand, to engage fans across generations. We’ve worked closely with Disney to bring the storytelling from Star Wars Forces of Destiny to life through this innovative toy line to help connect with new audiences as well as appeal to existing fans.” Fans attending Star Wars Celebration in Orlando will see a sneak peak of Star Wars Forces of Destiny during the “Heroines of Star Wars” panel on Friday, April 14. The panel, moderated by Amy Ratcliffe – host of “Lattes with Leia” podcast, will feature Carrie Beck – vice president of animation at Lucasfilm and Dave Filoni – executive producer of Star Wars Rebels, as well as Ashley Eckstein, Tiya Sircar and other surprise guests. - Tamashii Nations Movie Realization Star Wars - Darth Maul, Jango Fett and Prototype Boba Fett
If you followed our coverage of Star Wars Celebration last year, you will have seen the images we captured at the Tamashii Nations booth of some concept images for future Star Wars Realization figures. Fast forward to Celebration 2017 in Orlando, and one of these concepts is now getting a release. The Darth Maul Realization figure comes inspired by Feudel Japan with Skull head and Samurai inspired armour and a twin curved blade weapon. Also on the artwork at Celebration 2016 was a re-colouring of the Boba Fett sculpt to create a Jango Fett release. This is now also proceeding to release, with a sample on show at Celebration Orlando. Tamashii are also creating a white version of the Fett armour to create a Prototype Boba Fett release. This was only visible via a card insert with the text confirming this is the 2017 SDCC exclusive, and will also be available at the Bandai Webstore for Japanese collectors. Expect to be paying around £75 for Maul and Jango when these hit releases in the UK. Proto Boba is unlikely to get an offical UK relese and you will need to rely on secondary market.
