Sponsored by Review : Quittin' Time Ray Ghostbusters Select (Diamond Select Toys) Wave/Series : Series 3 Released : October 2016 £22.99 Pros : Earlier issues like the proton pack clip and proton stream clips are fixed Cons : Remains very difficult to stand and keep standing Our first Ray figure in the Ghostbusters Select line was in the first wave. Come wave 3 and we are getting an almost identical release, this time titled "Quittin' Time Ray". This new Ray comes in the standard green ectoplasmic themed packaging with card side art that wraps round the oversized blister. The image of Dan Ackroyd is a revised image - not a repeat of the series 1 card, so that is a good move when trying to make this feel like a new figure. Around the back of the card we get a Ghostbusters logo against a backdrop of crossed proton streams. Under this is the figure title "Quittin' Time Ray" and a paragraph of text about Rey Stanz and his role in the 1984 movie. While slightly realigned, this is the same identical text as the Series 1 release. Under this we get the Also Available box with the other figures in Series 3 - Slimer and Janine. There is then the usual small inset image of the rooftop diorama and the confirmation of collecting all 15 figures to complete the rooftop scene. The face sculpt is the same as Series 1 and is a half decent likeness for Ray. The forehead is a little large, especially when viewed from the side. The paint is a basic flesh tone and the hair a basic brown. The eyes are neat enough and there is some dirtying wash applied to cheeks and neck - a new addition from the first release. The main costume is also essentially the same as the first release, with the exception of the torso. This has been sculpted with the jumpsuit open and Ray's black T-Shirt underneath. You can still see the STANZ name plate to the side of this. The whole uniform has patches of dirty paint applied, this is all to capture the "Quittin' Time" scene where Ray returns from hunting Ghosts in a dishevelled state while Winston is being interviewed. This brown goo ranges from pretty realistic on the front of the legs and left shoulder, to a touch "blobby" and lazy on the back of the legs All of the other main details are still there like the Ghostbusters logo on the shoulder and the accessories around the belt area including staps and buckles that match the onscreen costume. Like Series 1, the figure is ram packed with accessories including swap out hands - both flesh coloured and gloved. The gloved ones can also be amended even further by including the rubber sleeve or leaving it off. The Proton Pack is attached to the body by the strapping, but isn't attached and therefore it moves with the figure. The various decals on the Proton Pack are all there as are the coloured wiring and tubing. The proton pack decals are sloppy in a couple of places and have not been applied straight. You can also see the white residue of the glue. One thing that has been fixed finally on this figure is the v-shaped bracket on the pack into which you can hook the Proton Beam thrower. On the previous figures this hasn't worked too well, but now this slots in perfectly. Also fixed is the ability to attach the proton stream to the emitter using a clear plastic clip. While not a clear, translucent material, the stream is half decent and waves and weaves through the air like we see on the movie Articulation is the basic 16 points of articulation. This means the head can rotate on the head peg. There is a ball joint at the shoulder with a single jointed elbow. With the suit being a touch puffy the elbow won't bend to a full right angle, but enough so the Proton Thrower can be held in two hands. The wrist joint helps with this as these rotate and bend. There is a chest joint half way down the torso, and this is neatly hidden behind a strap of the Proton Pack. The only issue with this joint is how the torso costume becomes skewed if the joint is engaged. The hips are the older T-shape that Diamond employ on most Select figures. While you don't need Ray to sit down or kneel, he can do that albeit awkwardly. The knees are double jointed and the ankles on rockers. These ankle rockers are quite stiff and ratcheted but where they are ratcheted it doesn't quite meet up with where the feet need to be to have the figure stand securely. Ray is therefore prone to falling over. Accessory number one is plain black Walkie-Talkie. This was included with all the Ghostbusters figures. It doesn't carry any real detail other than being the shape of a Walkie-Talkie. It fits neatly into Ray's had and when not in use it sides into a holster on the belt. Ray also includes the night vision goggles. These are awesome and fit over the head really well thanks to the flexible strap. You can pose them with Ray wearing them or prop them on his forehead. These have much better paint than the Walkie-Talkie, with the main body in green - the visors in black and silver lens. As you can see from the comparison images, the Quittin Time Ray is dirtier than the first version. The only difference then is the open shirt on the torso. When you do compare side by side, the dirty wash on the Quittin Time Ray's face does enhance the sculpt a little. The figure comes with another piece of the 15 piece Rooftop Diorama. This is one of the side segments and comes with a gargoyle section to slot in place. This is cast in a hard plastic and painted grey with a dark wash to represent concrete. We will be reviewing the full rooftop when we have all 15 parts together, I can't help but feel a little like I've bought the same figure twice here for the sake of completing the rooftop scene. It would have been nice for Diamond to enhance this release further with a new head. Even though it might be frowned upon nowadays, seeing a Ray head sculpt with a cigarette hanging out of it's mouth would have been a cool variant. When you get over that, there are some good points to this figure. Firstly, it lets anyone new to the line get their hands on a Ray at retail at a time the original figures of Ray, Peter, Winston and Egon are increasing in price. It also gives collectors a variant Ghostbuster to pose outside of the diorama, When the rooftop is built, not everything is going to fit and therefore I for one will have some side displays using this figure and some of the ghosts from Series 5. I am going to score Quittin Time Ray a 3 out of 5. Checkout the Diamond Select figures available at Toys in the Attic

For anyone that reads the Ask DST feature on a regular basis will know how the most popular answer is "not at this time" to various suggestions of figures - particularly when talking about their Marvel Select line. But every so often the feature does throw up a real juicy piece of information. This week's issue throws up two such pieces, one good news and one bad. For X-Men fans the Q+A has almost confirmed a Beast figure in Select 7" scale for 2018. With Diamond not able to do Fox Movie pieces, this will surely be a comic book release. The bad news is for MCU fans who were hoping to see Vision get a 2018 release as part of the Infinity War slots. While this is not a complete no, it looks like Vision is not in the MCU plans at this time - and we do wonder what the other 2 slots will be for MCU releases in 2018.

Medicom have released promotional images of two of their Justice League 1/12 MAFEX figures as previewed recently at New York Comic Con. First up is Batman who is in his new Tactical Suit. The figure comes with soft goods poseable cape and three head options which include neutral look, grimmace look and one where the goggles are up on the forehead. It is not overly clear if the goggles can be moved to this position or if this is a 3rd head option? Also included are a wealth of weapons including three battarangs. Then we have Cyborg, he comes with two head options as well as some interchangeable weaponry for the arms including a metal shield. He will also include a Mother Box. Both Cyborg and Tactical Suit Batman are due in May 2018. Expect to be paying circa £50 once these hit UK import.

The Kingdom Hearts figures from Diamond Select Toys have already hit Walgreens stores in the US in standard packaging. We now get to see them in their Select packaging and how each three pack will line up on store shelves. The first pack contains Mickey Mouse, Axel and a Shadow. The second pack in Series 1 includes Sora, Dusk and a Soldier. The sets should hit comic book stores and independents shortly and wil retail around $25 in the US - so expect circa £22-£25 here in UK stores.

We did our usual visit to Toys R Us to see what was new over the weekend. First up it was exciting to find the Marvel Legends Thor Ragnarok wave on the shelf, they had the full case except Hela. What was not so good was the price which is an eye-watering £26.99 - that's £2 more than the Star Wars Black Series, and is sad to see when Hasbro are doing such great things with the Legends wave. Also on the pegs were the 6" Multiverse Justice League figures from Mattel. And while the Legends are going up in price, it seems the Multiverse figures are coming down. Batman vs Superman versions last year were £24.99, while the 2017 Justice League figures are down £2 to £22.99 (take not Hasbro). For Star Wars Black Series collectors - the 2nd wave of Last Jedi figures (Wave 13) is also on pegs at £24.99 each. Leia and the Praetorian Guard seem to be the two most popular from this wave. Kylo is starting to accumulate on pegs being a repack in this wave. Toys R Us visits this week.... Preston (Lancashire) and Livingston (Scotland)

NECA have shared the following images of the packaging for their upcoming special release from Aliens, Colonel Cameron. This figure is a tribute to the director who is presented in full USMC gear and ready "to rock" with the other Marines in the line. The packaging mirrors the usual clamshell and is designed to blend in with the other Aliens releases, and even advertises Series 12 on the back of the box as "also available". While not to everyone's taste - if you want to pick-up the Colone then he should be shipping in November. Director James Cameron joins the Aliens universe as an action figure! The first-ever action figure featuring his likeness is a tribute to the process of creating the movie Aliens as well as the director himself. USCM Colonel Cameron becomes the highest-ranking officer in the Aliens movie universe. The 7" scale figure has over 25 points of articulation and features the likeness of James Cameron as he appeared during the filming of Aliens. There are a few fun Easter eggs relating to the director hidden on the figure itself: a Canadian flag shoulder patch, the Lightstorm logo, and a Pandora planet patch. The figure comes with pistol, pulse rifle, and tracking device, plus two "behind-the-scenes" accessories: a replica clapboard and the viewfinder Cameron wore around his neck while filming for setting up shots.

NECA have shared these very bright and visual packaging shots for their upcoming Chucky Ultimate figure. The figure should be on store shelves (in the US at least) come November, UK distribution may be a little later From the classic horror films, the murderous doll inhabited by the soul of a serial killer gets the Ultimate treatment! This definitive version of Chucky comes with a whopping four interchangeable head sculpts, and is packed with terrifying accessories: baseball bat, hammer, voodoo knife, hunting knife, butcher knife, straight razor, yardstick, pistol, interchangeable right forearm with blade, interchangeable hands, and more. The figure stands 4″ tall and has over 20 points of articulation. Comes in collector-friendly deluxe window box packaging with opening flap.

We saw NECA's new God of War 7" figure back at San Diego (SDCC 2017) and it is now confirmed the figure will also be getting a quarter-scale 18" release in early 2018. The images provided with the press release are the same as used for the 7" figure, and we would assume therefore this is simply a scale up of the digital sculpt to produce the larger figure. Kratos will come with 30 points of articulation and will be armed with his axe and shield. Expect a UK RRP of around £109 for this once it hits retail in January. From Sony’s upcoming God of War video game! After a decade of bestselling God of War games, it is a new beginning for Kratos. Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, he ventures into the brutal Norse wilds with his son Atreus, fighting to fulfill a deeply personal quest. This impressive 18" action figure features over 30 points of articulation and an incredibly detailed sculpt. Kratos comes with axe and shield accessories.

NECA have revealed two new Predator figures in the guise of the Bad Blood Predator and Enforcer. These figures made their first apperance in Series 12 about 3-years ago. This time round they are getting the Ultimate treatment with the "ultimate" body and a bunch of extra's What makes this even more exciting is that the figures will be packed in a 2-pack, the first in the Ultimate series. "Ultimate Boxed Set of the 2 together on Ultimate bodies w loads of extras and upgrades. New disc, new heads, new deco, more!!" We will have to await the full details from NECA - but based on conversations on Twitter we know that both figures have an alternative head sculpt, and there is a mask accessory (as per the image) which can't be worn - but can be held as though the Predator has just unmasked. "Each has 2 heads and the Enforcer mask is an extra accessory that can be held by either Pred"

NECA have confirmed the details of their 2nd wave of Blade Runner 2049 figures. It had already been confirmed that the 2nd series would be made up of Wallace (played by Jared Leto) and Luv (Sylvia Hoeks). We had seen a head shot of Wallace, but now both figures are revealed in their entirety. There are no confirmed accessories with Wallace, but Luv will come with two knives and pistol accessory. The two figures will be released January 2018 From the critically acclaimed movie Blade Runner 2049, the sequel to the legendary sci-fi film! Bring home the action with these highly articulated action figures depicting the characters as they appear on screen. Series 2 includes Luv (featuring the likeness of Sylvia Hoeks) and Wallace (featuring the likeness of Jared Leto). Each action figure stands approximately 7” tall and has over 25 points of articulation. Luv includes two knives and pistol accessories.

NECA have confirmed that their next Ultimate 7" figure from the Friday the 13th franchise will be based on Part 2. The figure, is promised to be super-articulated and packed full of accessories. As a tease, NECA have shown this image of the packaging design based on the original 1981 movie poster.
