Is is my pleasure to formally open our Marvel Legends MCU 6" archive, dedicated to all the awesome Legends figures from the Marvel Cinematic Universe as produced by Hasbro Toys. This is our biggest single update to the Website for a while, and quite a considerable decision for my own personal collecting. The MCU archive will also allows us to have some fun and do something different. We are going with shorter (hopefully) reviews and presenting the figures by movie and not waves. We are also trailing some nice new info headers for the review and a different look to our 5 star rating system. Finally, and this is a wider change, we are dropping the extensive figure galleries and going with better quality images in the collage format. This in itself will speed up our review turnaround and will reduce the site loading times and overall hosting data. You can check-out our new Marvel Legends archive by clicking through the image above. As we launch we have reviews done for all the pictured figures, and these will be released across the weekend. And we have plenty more figures to review and these will be added in the coming weeks. The intention is not to make this a full checklist of every MCU figure, but rather an archive of my own figures by movie. At present we are looking a bit sparse and not every movie has a slot, this will be expanded and built over the coming weeks and months as I expand the collection and add more and more reviews to the archive.... Why Now? Around 2013 my current collecting focus, Doctor Who 5" figures, had come to an end and I was searching for a new focus. The overriding aim was to do something based around my favourite movies and within that I was also getting heavily into the Marvel Cinematic Universe - which at the time had finished Phase 1 and we were about to reach Iron-Man 3. Knowing I wanted Marvel figures in this wider collection I spent a good few weeks researching. At that time I knew nothing and was presented with Legends and Select figures, and not a lot more to know the differences. Based on looks, and the 7" scale, I went with Select and purchased a Mk42 Iron-Man to kick me off. In the following years I went back and hunted down the earlier figures from Iron-Man 2, Thor, Captain America and Avengers - while also picked up the new releases. This was great, even if some characters were missed and if I ever threw a glance over to the 6" Legends they were pretty much doing the same thing with only 2 or 3 figures per movie. Select always had the better looking figures though, with Legends only advantage being their articulation. Roll forward and as this website established I became a lot more aware of the complexities around the Select Marvel licence and also the gaps in figures they weren't doing were more obvious. At the same time Legends were upping their game a little and the first Guardians film saw a full set of the team released - when Select did nothing. As we hit 2017 Select were doing great things with sculpts (Dr Strange) but were starting to mess around with scale (Daredevil) and also were holding back head sculpts and accessories and the figures were always late vs the movie release. For me not having figures at peak of a movies hype removes some excitement. Getting the Select Guardians figures a year after the movie held little appeal. Legends of course continued to grow as a line, combining waves of MCU and comic book figures. And while I didn't like the idea of having to buy both comic and MCU figures for an MCU build-a-figure, they were calling to me in terms of the range of characters that was becoming available. The game changer has come at Toy Fair 2018 with the announcement of the 10 years of MCU figures. With the arrival of figures like Sif, Yellowjacket and Ronan - the MCU Legends suddenly became much more attractive to a universe builder like myself. While Select, under the current agreement, can never go back - Hasbro it seems were looking at the past and filling in gaps they hadn't done at the time. When I then considered I was already spending money trying (badly) to customise 7" figures - why not shift that into Legends. And here we are... Select are not going anywhere for now and we will keep up with releases at their end for the Marvel movies. But the Legends is a whole new avenue to play with in the coming year and beyond. I will be picking up the new releases where I can. But more exciting is perhaps the hunt to track down some of the older figures - something I haven't done for a while. This article may contain visual spoilers for those avoiding all media relating to Avengers Infinity War Diamond Select Toys have unveiled, via Previews World, their Avengers Infinity War products, including which figures they will be producing in the Select 7" range. Up first, as expected, is Captain America. He will likely re-use the Civil War body with a new head, forearms, decor and shield. He is joined by Infinity War Thor. While Thor could be a full new figure, I do suspect that this will re-use parts of the Ragnarok body. Thor will come with the added bonus of a poseable Teenage Groot also included in the pack The third figure is Iron-Spider, and this is likely a brand new sculpt complete with those arm sections. No images exist as yet, just two silhouettes for Cap and Spider-Man as well as the promotional blurb which we've included below. Many, like myself, did have Thanos as a safe bet for Select but it seems they have chosen to go in a different direction. We would hope the delays seen with the last lot of figures is sorted out, and we could potentially have these figures in hand by July/August 2018. Pros : Ego is the stand out figure with two awesome, subtly different head sculpts Cons : Star-Lord has unsightly pegs for his blasters. He could also do with a wash on the outfit to weather him up The Marvel Legends Movie 2-packs are a relatively new addition to the Legends line. The formula used is essentially to repack a figure from the single line along with a more obscure figure who perhaps wouldn't normally be viable as a single release. The repack does generally get a tweak with either a new head or paint aps and overall this format is working to give us recent figures like the Mk47 Iron-Man, Valkyrie and the figure we are looking at here - Ego. The packaging is essentially a widened version of the usual scalloped sided Legends packaging. Being a two pack the two scooped sides re turned over too different characters in line with the pack contents. These images are taken from the movie Round the back and the images turn to ones of the figures themselves alongside a short piece of text which covers Ego & Star-Lord's relationship and confirms them as father and son (as did the trailer). The figure arrived after the movie so spoilers were not a huge issue by this point. The figures are clipped, without ties, into the inner tray which slides out by either of the side flaps. The card back , surrounding the figures, is actually a thing of beauty in its own right with a large Guardians logo over the top of a multi-coloured nebula. Starting with Star-Lord, and the figure comes fitted with a Chris Pratt head which is achieved by the Digital Face Printing that Hasbro introduced with the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 releases. The likeness is impressive, particularly when you consider the step change it is making from the usual head sculpts from Hasbro. The printing allows for a more natural stubble/beard which Star-Lord sports in the movie. It also does a much cleaner and realistic job of the eyes and mouth. One downside, on Star-Lord at least, is how glossy the head is around the chin area. This is only really noticeable up close or when under a direct light. This figure is a direct re-release of the single carded Star-Lord from the first Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 wave. There is very little paint difference between the figures. Star-Lord's T-Shirt sports the "Yeah Baby" logo which extends fully under the jacket. I can't decide if this is a decal (if it is I can't see the edges) or if it itself is digitally printed. Over the top of this is the shorter coat. This is panelled with two varying colours - dark burgundy over the shoulders and a brighter finish over the rest of the coat. If there is a criticism, the coat is a bit too clean and bright and would benefit from a wash to dirty it up a little. There are also other details missing like the Ravagers badge and the shoulder pauldron we see over the right shoulder in the movie. The trousers are a grey single tone colour at first glance but do have a brown tinge. These could also do with a wash and there is also an issue between upper and lower thighs where the upper piece is glossier than the rest of the legs. The boots are the same in terms of being a single grey colour despite having plenty of strapping detail and buckles which is screaming out for some paint details. Articulation is an impressive 21 points, starting with a ball jointed head. The torso gets a joint just under the T-Shirt logo but hidden by the jacket and the waist also swivels. Arms are ball jointed shoulders, bicep swivels, double jointed elbows and pivot wrists. The legs start with ball jointed hips, which like most legends do make the crotch area look a litte unnatural. There is then the thigh cut joint which marks the point the colour changes slightly on the legs. The knees are also double jointed and lead into a further swivel at the top of the boot. We end with an ankle pivot that keeps Star-Lord standing perfectly well. Out of the box all joints are tight and you can feel a nice ratchet on most joints. You will not have an issue posing Star-Lord with some good replication of key mannerisms and poses from the movie available. If you want the masked head, this is also included in the pack. The heads pop off with a satisfying pop. They do require a little more force than I might normally have to apply, particularly to clip the head back in place on the ball joint. The mask is very well proportioned and detailed with plenty of accuracy around the eyes and that iconic face plate. The colouring is a neat dark grey with bright gold and silver parts and deep red eyes. If you already have, or want to buy, the single release these two heads do give you two different options for displaying Star-Lord. Star-Lord comes with both his blasters. These are cast in a smooth black plastic and are trimmed with silver. The single release also has some gold on the blasters, which has not translated to this release. The guns fit well into either hand, with both hands having a flexible trigger finger that can be teased into the trigger position on the weapon. By now you should have noticed the very unsightly pegs on either side of Star-Lords thighs? These serve to allow the two blasters to be holstered by means of the peg being shaped to the trigger of the blaster. They can be hung pointing downward, although this is tricky (perhaps my pegs are warped) or side on like you see in my images. While the ability to holster the blasters is a good idea in practice, the pegs are unsightly and the whole thing is not well executed - the blasters may even be a touch too large to hang on the belt. I'd have preferred the peg to be on the gun itself and a socket in the leg, or perhaps just remove the holstering option and stick the blasters in the bits box if they aren't being used. There is an additional accessory in this 2-pack release which wasn't included in the single release. This is meant to be Star-Lords Walkman - but it is simply a black plastic moulded piece with a socket on the back. The colouring is of course wrong, but up super close (you can't tell on our images) you can see the lines of the Walkman and the tape window. It is crying out for a purple/blue Sony colouring. It is designed to slot onto a peg on the belt, just under the coat. The fit only works tight one way so it is worth checking which way you have it orientated. The coat does more to hold it in place rather than the socket design. Figure number two is Ego, as played by Kurt Russell. The head sculpt, also using digital print technology, is a fantastic likeness to the bearded Russell although the hair line is a touch too crisp and there is appears to be a gap between the head and hair piece. It seems all the paint apps and washed that Star-Lord was missing have been applied to Ego to what makes a stunning looking figure. The upper piece is a dirty washed tunic with an ornate silver belt, shoulder panels and wrists pieces. The legs are a dark grey with brown strapping and brown boots - there is no wash or detailing on the lower legs. The figure is enclosed in a cloak which is sculpted in soft plastic yet still carries some great detail around the way the cloth wraps around the neck and flows down the back. The cloak does force the head up a little and therefore it is a positive move that the whole thing can be removed. Simply pop off the head, remove the cloak and pop the head back in place. With the cloak off you can see much more of the torso detail. Without the cloak the head is also more manoeuvrable. Ego has 20 points of articulation, one less than Star-Lord with the waist not moving on Ego. Everything else is there with a ball jointed head and a torso joint which is a ball joint rather than the ratchet T-section. Arms are ball jointed shoulder, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows and a pivot rotating wrist. Legs are ball jointed at the hips, and thanks the belt this joint is well disguised. We then have a thigh swivel, double jointed knees, a rotation at the top of the boots and a robust ankle rocker. As with Star-Lord all the joints are tight, ratcheted in most cases and there is no issue standing Ego on display. Ego comes with an alternative head, and at first glance you may think the two heads are the same. Up close there is a subtle difference with the first head being more jolly and smiling to reflect Ego through most of the movie. The 2nd head has a subtle change around the eyes and mouth to make this a more serious / angry Ego. It is impressive that the heads can look so similar and yet change the feel of the figure once applied. Both heads pop off with a similar amount of force to Star-Lord. Ego did not really adopt a great deal of action poses in the movie, so most people will pose Ego in quite a neutral pose. You an of course use those 20 points of articulation for a more dynamic look to Ego. The two figures scale well together and look great, and Ego will look just as good alongside Mantis, or indeed in a wider Guardians of the Galaxy group situation. While Star-Lord is nothing new and lacks a bit of weathering, Ego steals the show in this box set and is a very impressive addition to the MCU figures - and of course without repacking that Star-Lord it is foreseeable that Ego wouldn't have made it to retail so I am happy to take the hit. Breaking the set down I would score Star-Lord a middle of the road 3 out of 5, while giving Ego a full 5 out of 5 score. May contain minor visual spoilers for Avengers Infinity War It was inevitable that SH Figuarts would be releasing some figures from Infinity War, and they have announced their intentions with this brilliant YouTube teaser and a group image The Infinity War line up has been confirmed and releases are spread between April and September 2018. With the first releases in April there is also a new innovative Marvel display stand for your figures which looks great and also opens up as somewhere to stash your accessories and spare hands. It will be costly to kit out all your SH Figuarts Marvel figures with this new gimmick. Scroll down for a look at the figures announced and shown so far. There are also figures of Bucky and a Hulkbuster that are yet unseen and appear as a silhouetted image on the video. The first discounts are starting across the full Toys R Us (UK) estate. Stores now have up to 20% off all stock, although what remains in each store is patchy at best. Stores will have residual Star Wars stocks including Black Series up to the Snoke wave. The Marvel Legends will be the Groot exclusive and then Ragnarok wave remnants. Some stores will have older waves like the Odin, Onslaught and even Goblin waves. DC will be Multiverse figures for Justice League and Wonder Woman. And some stores were stocking DC Collectibles like the Arrow/Deathstroke 2-pack. Some stores, seemingly the newer format ones, had Diamond Select stocks including Gotham figures - Series 1. Those stores already earmarked for closure are practically empty now and trading from just a small section at the store front. Discounts in these stores are much higher - up to 60% on certain lines - but what is left is now very little Let us know what you are finding in your local store. This article may include minor spoilers for Avengers Infinity War Hasbro have shared the promotional images for three multi-pack Legend sets for Avengers Infinity War. We had seen an image of the Scarlet Witch & Vision pack after it showed up for sale. This one looks impressive with face print technology on Scarlet Witch. Vision has alternative hands, while Wanda comes with some more subtle magic FX pieces. There is no obvious exclusive markings but reports say this is a Toys R Us exclusive in the USA at least. The second set is brilliant and is made up of Thor, complete with Eye Patch, Rocket and the teenage Groot. Thor is a variant to the one we know is coming in wave 2 (Cull Obsidian) of Infinity War - this version is sporting the eye patch, has bare arms and has no cloak. He is wielding the Odinsword as seen in the Ragnarok Valkyrie 2-pack. This is a Thor fresh out of Ragnarok and could be used in a Ragnarok display. Rocket appears to be a re-release from Guardians of the Galaxy wave 2 (Mantis). He comes with the same two hand guns, but also gets an upgraded larger weapon. Teenage Groot is a new sculpt and he comes with some sort of tablet. This set is stickered as a Toys R Us exclusive in USA. There is little chance of this hitting UK Toys R Us stores considering the current situation. The final set see's the Winter Soldier figure that Sebastian Stan shared earlier this week. Bucky will, as suspected, be packed with Falcon. Bucky gets what looks like a new arm, Vibranium perhaps?. He is also wielding a futuristic looking rifle. Falcon appears to be very similar to the Civil War release and still no handguns for him to shoot. There is no packed image for this set and maybe that is because it will include a part of the Build-a-Stan-Lee. This set is reported as a Target exclsuive. If we consider the issues we've had with Target exclusives from the Star Wars Black Series, this pack may end up being the hardest to get in the UK.

May contain visual spoilers We've seen a number of these 6" Basic Infinity War figures from Hasbro, but it seems the range is even deeper than we thought. Hasbro have released the promotional details for most of their Infinity War product and this reveals some other basic figures we had not seen yet including Gamora, Drax, Doctor Strange, Falcon, Hulkbuster and Scarlet Witch. While these may have limited articulation, many look pretty good sculpt wise. I believe some of these must share sculpts with Legends figures - that Drax head is almost identical to the original Legends Drax from 2014 The US price is listed as $9.99 for basic figures, $12.99 for deluxe (Hulk, Hulkbuster and Groot & Rocket pack) and $29.99 for the Iron-Man vs Thanos set. You can pretty much replace the $ with the £ sign for UK pricing, although with the demise of Toys R Us these may be harder to find in UK as up to now the only other retailer carrying these lines initially are Tesco. Toys R Us (UK) has entered administration today - putting the remaining stores and all 3000 UK jobs at risk. The stores will continue trading while the administrator seeks a buyer, however the online sales will close immediately. Gift Cards will still be accepted in stores It is expected that a clearance of stock, as it stands in stores, will start soon following a similar process to the stores already in a "closing down" sale. That will mean varying discounts dependent on category. No new stocks will be delivered as stock at any distribution warehouses is more likely to be sold in bulk and turning up at retailers like B&M or Home Bargains. In terms of Toys R Us being bought, I suspect if that is the case it will be the brand only - similar to what happened with Woolies. This may lead to us still having a Toys R Us brand, but not as we know it - perhaps reimagined as the high street type stores that have been doing well within the wider estate. Smyths will likely look at sites where they don't have a presence having tended to avoid areas where Toys R Us are already established. But I think the larger Toys R Us stores are not attractive so rather than Smyths moving in to a building directly, we may find Smyths finding a smaller unit in the area to maximise the market while not taking on the big rental costs that Toys R Us carried. The UK will then be left with Smyths and The Entertainer, as well as a handful of Toymaster stores, vying for business. While the general demand will be taken up by these companies as well as the supermarkets - the very slim collectors market that Toys R Us had a loose grip on will have to go online. After all Toys R Us were the only retailer with a Marvel Legends offering throughout the year, and same can be said about Star Wars Black Series - although both Smyths and Entertainer have recently reintroduced these to their stores. It does open a big question about the recently announced Toys R Us exclusives that Hasbro are doing for both Legends and Black Series. With these so far down production they may have to find another UK offering - or simply only go into the US and Australia stores, assuming the US arm doesn't suffer the same fate. I guess interesting times are ahead, and in the mean time our thoughts and sympathies go out to the 3000 or so Toys R Us employees and I would ask any of our readers who descend on Toys R Us for any closing offers are sensitive to the staff and their uncertain future.

This article contains minor visual spoilers for Avengers Infinity War With the first wave of Infinity War Legends already hitting stores, the second wave was partially announced at Toy Fair 2018 to contain comic book figures of Malkith and Black Knight, and MCU Movie figures of Ant-Man & Wasp. From here a couple of companies started listing this 2nd wave for pre-order, listing the other two figures as Thor and Black Widow. The BAF was listed as Black Dwarf. Hasbro has now confirmed the final two figures to indeed be Thor and Black Widow, as they appear in Infinity War. And the BAF is Black Dwarf - or rather Cull Obsidian and he is the movie version. As a reminder of wave 1, images have also been revealed of these. The first wave includes comic book Taskmaster, Songbird and King Cobra. They are joined with MCU Infinity War figures of Captain America, Iron-Man, Spider-Man and Proxima Midnight. The figures include the parts to construct a BAF Thanos (MCU version).

Please note this article may container spoilers for Infinity War A number of Marvel's MCU stars were out in force launching a brand new charity initiative called Hero Acts which focuses on using the power of Marvel to help inspire children and their families as well as helping those who need it such as visiting sick children while in hospital, or granting wishes to those with life threatening or limiting illnesses. Paul Bettany (Vision), Karen Gillan (Nebula) and Sebastian Stan (Bucky) were all on hand and were pictured with their Marvel Legends 6" Action Figures. While Nebula's figure has been out a while, and we have seen Vision in an upcoming 2-pack with Scarlet Witch - the Bucky figure was something very new. Sebastian Stan went on to give us a closer look on Twitter. The figure is rumoured to be part of a 2-pack with Falcon and that will also include a part of the Stan Lee BAF. Bucky looks to be coming with a new outfit and what looks to be a digitally printed face. Could that also be a Wakandan / Vibranium arm?

Yamaguchi are re-using their Deadpool 6" Revoltech figure for an X-Force release in 2018. The figure will utilise the same features and accessories as the original red suit release which includes Katana's, Pistols, Hand Options and the innovative eye options to allow Deadpool to display a number of expressions - including the love heart eyes. X-Force Deadpool will retail, like the standard version, for around $75 in the US.

Mattel have released a number of promotional images for their upcoming Jurassic World, Fallen Kingdom line of figures. These are the Roarivores, the mid-range dinosaurs with built in sound FX, and the Action Attack Dinosaurs. They will retail at between $15 and $20 in the US, expect circa £12 to £17 here in UK We also get a look at the larger Thrash & Throw T-Rex. He will be retailing at $40, so £35 or so in UK. These are all scheduled for an April 2018 release.
