The movie may still be a couple of months away, but NECA have been allowed to reveal their new 2018 Predator figure to the world. Dubbed the Fugitive Predator, this is a 7" scale figure that stands 8" tall. It is an Ultimate release so will arrive in an enclosed box with opening front flap through which the figure can be viewed. The figure itself includes masked and unmasked heads. There are also swap out forearms one with gauntlets and wrist weapons, and one set without. There are alternative hands, wrist blades and the shoulder cannon is articulated. The figure should ship in August The Fugitive Predator stands over 8” tall and features over 30 points of articulation. Mezco have released the full details of their first Kong figure, the smaller 7" version "King Kong of Skull Island". The figure is based on the 1932 movie and stands 7" tall with 28 points of articulation. There are two head options included - a neutral head and a roaring/angry version - as well as various hand options. He can be shackled with real chains and for the full authenticity to the 1932 classic, a correctly scaled Ann Darrow figures is packed in with Kong. Kong will ship in late 2018 / January 2019 and pre-orders are up now via Mezco for US customers. The RRP is a very reasonable $40 which should translate to around £35-£40 here in the UK. King Kong, the monstrous anthropoid that ruled Skull Island and terrorized New York in 1932. Pros : Vision's outfit including the texture is very well executed Cons : face is lacking paint apps and the cloak is too rigid and sits too high where it goes over the head CHECKOUT PART 1 OF THIS REVIEW > SCARLET WITCH For those who have found their way straight to this Vision figure, this is a two part review and we have looked at the packaging and the Scarlet Witch figure in this previous review if you want to rewind a little before kicking off this look at Vision. If not, then here we go... This is Visions debut in the MCU despite appearing in Age of Ultron and Civil War to date. This release is part of the Infinity War products, but as Vision has not updated his look across the three movies he is a perfect stand in for any display - meaning we get one step closer to the Team Cap vs Team Iron-Man face off. We start with the head sculpt which is a good likeness to Paul Bettany. The issue is that it is not facial printing as far as I can see. That means it lacks any depth or detailing. The facial tone is a single pink tone, a shade too light and while the lines on Visions face are there in the sculpt there is nothing in terms of printing or painting to enhance them. The green metallic elements around the head are also well sculpted and mostly well painted - there is the odd bleed of pink onto the green elements. The Mind Stone is visible but is quite dull and looks like a yellow spot rather than a gem embedded into his head. From the head down Visions costume is extremely well designed. The proportions are good and the green sections are textured like scales. There are purple lines running through the suit where there should be and the whole thing has a neat metallic sheen. The wrist gauntlet pieces have been painted the same colour as the hands, when for me the hand should always be a touch darker. The cloak is a solid piece and cast to be flared out from the body. It has a translucent effect to it with a gold hue and purple segments painted on the reverse.Where the cloak connects to the chest, the section just under Visions head doesn't quite sit right and there is a visible gap when viewed from most angles. Vision has 19 points of articulation, and these are all the more maneuverable joints we get on most of the male figures in the line as standard. The head is ball jointed and under this there is a t-joint in the chest. The waist swivels and then the legs are ball jointed. There is then a thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle rocker. Vision stands OK, but the cloak does over balance him so I used a figure stand for most of our review. Visions arm articulation starts with ball jointed shoulders with a bicep swivel sat underneath. This then allows the elbows to be double jointed and very mobile in terms of bending the arm beyond 90 degrees. The wrists are pegged with a pivot. Vision comes fitted with a basic set of open gesturing hands, and a second pair of fists. These pop out easily and snap back into the arm. For me Vision always looks best when levitating off the floor. Doing this with the figure is more difficult than it sounds as the solid cape does make attaching a waist clip of any kind difficult. From the stands I had the best posing I got was via a gripping stand where the upper grip can be placed around Visions thigh and hold him in a flying pose. Once you've sorted the stand it is nice to see the articulation supports this posing with the toes in particularly fully pointing down when that ankle is bent. After waiting so long for an MCU Vision, this figure fills the void but doesn't quite live up to the mark on a few areas. While Legends do not use soft goods, the cape on Vision may have been one they played with as the solid version hinders the figure in terms of overbalancing him and also being unnatural when Vision is stood neutrally. Considering this piece goes over the head and clips in place perhaps a second loose hanging version could have been included? The head is also not up to scratch, not so much the sculpt but more the finish and when put next to the gorgeous Olsen head sculpt in the same pack they look as though they are from different lines, or are are a few years apart in terms of the technology. Vision is an important part of the MCU and deserves to be revisited again in a future release - if they fix the cape and head this will be a knock out figure, as he currently stands he is a little underwhelming and I score him 3 out of 5. #marvel #legends #vision #mindstone #infinitywar #ageofultron #civilwar #teamironman #hasbro #actionfigures #review #toy

Pros : Stunning head sculpt. The paint apps are much bolder and tighter than the original Cons : This is still just a re-release with new head sculpt. Articulation remains limited, and the hips are very wide for posing Following hot on the heels of two waves of Avengers Infinity War figures are a variety of multi-packs, starting with the movies' power couple - Vision and Scarlet Witch. The set was originally made to be exclusive to Toys R Us (in the US at least) and stocks internationally have been arriving with the silver circular Toys R Us exclusive sticker in place. The packaging uses the same colour scheme as the Infinity War single releases with a yellow movie logo and figure back drop, and purple artwork and character name bands. The box retains the usual scalloped sides as any Legends release with the left holding a nice purple hued image of Scarlet Witch, and the right a brooding looking Vision. Round the back and we move to images of the two figures along with some text around their origins and their link to the Mind Stone. The figures slide out via either of the two side flaps, and are tucked into the inner plastic tray without any frustrating twisty ties. This tray itself sits in the yellow card insert which has an Avengers "A" built into the explosion design. In this review, having looked at the packaging we will look at Scarlet Witch. Wanda has the new face print technology and is one of the best likenesses I have had in hand to date in the Legends line. This is a uncanny resemblance to Elizabeth Olsen including the subtle shading around the eyes and the blusher on the cheeks. The whole head sculpt is a thing of beauty. The hair is cast to frame the face, and appears to be a separate piece. While it may be a touch too bright, the auburn colouring is accurate to her hair in Infinity War. The body is a direct re-use of the 2016 Civil War Scarlet Witch. This is not a bad thing as the body and details are pretty good from the flared coat to the leather look top and the stitching down the front. The hands retain those spell catching poses with the individual fingers posed into a casting pose on both hands. If you compare this 2018 Wanda to her 2016 counterpart you can see where the paint applications on the clothing are tighter with more depth to the coat and the top. The legs remain plain black right through to the boots, and still sit a bit wide legged for me at the hips. The necklace remains but is painted a darker colour, it does have a touch of flesh flowing into it on the version I am reviewing. Being the same body as 2016 means the same articulation - 16 points in total. The head is ball jointed under that hair and still moves quite a bit to either side. It can also look down. These movements do pull the hair out of line so they can look a bit unnatural. The arms start with ball jointed shoulders with full movement. The elbows are the scaled back rotating single joint, which is a shame as there are some "summoning" gestures Wanda uses that would need double jointed elbows to achieve. The hands are pegged to pivot and rotate. There is a ball joint in the chest which allows Wanda to lean forward, although doing so pushes the coat tails out. The legs are ball jointed at those wide hips, with a thigh swivel. Knees are double jointed and ankles are on rockers. Despite the wedged heels, Wanda stands perfectly well. The magic FX pieces have been totally overhauled for this figure. Now they are the swirling energy rather than huge plug in flame like pieces. These are cast in a semi-transparent pinky red in a very soft plastic. It takes a while to wrap them round the arms and have them stay in place but once there they look as good as any FX piece I have seen to date. As was my overriding though with the first figure, the same applies here in that Wanda really comes into her own once in a flying pose. Drop her onto a flight stand of some description and she is now an impressive sight as she levitates on your Infinity War display. While this is more or less a re-issue, Scarlet Witch has got a huge overhaul in the looks department with that face print head, adjusted hair sculpt and colouring and deeper richer colouring of the costume. The FX pieces are upgraded too and work pretty well. The figure still suffers from restricted articulation and those ugly hips which are far too wide and why she seems to look better posed in her levitating pose than stood on the ground. The Legends bar has been raised a notch or two over the 2017 and into 2018 and while this figure is updated, its still not enough for top marks and I hold her score at 4 out of 5. I stumbled on these unbranded action figure stands on eBay, and they come directly from China and the Far East. While sold as Doll Stands the clip piece works really well for mid-range action figures around the 6" mark. Cost wise these come in around 50p per stand, very reasonable. They are sold in packs of 5 or more and the seller I used shipped and delivered in under two weeks. They stands come in three parts - the base, the stand and the clip. The stand clips into the base and the clip then slides down the stand - adjustable for which ever figure you are going to use. The plastic on these is not the hard crisp plastic of the Figma or Tamashii stands, but is quite flexible. That has the benefit of being a little bit more robust, but also means these are prone to arriving misshapen - and for 50p a stand its often not worth complaining. The clip is not adjustable in its width, but being a softer plastic it can be clipped onto most mid-rage figure waists. It has two rounded ends to stop paint damage. While most will use this as a flight stand of sorts, there would be no reason why you couldn't use this as a standard stand or have the figure stood while performing some action moves or other. If you wanted to hide the spine of the stand it wouldn't take much to trim this down. I started by putting 6" figures onto this - here you can see our Mk47 Iron-Man (Marvel Legends) and Boba Fett (Star Wars Black Series) giving it a whirl. General Leia here is showing how it would work as a more general stand. The stand also works for slightly larger 7" figures like the Diamond Select Iron-Man in the final picture. The only watch out here is that the heavier a figure is the more bend is applied to the upright piece and after about 7-days of testing this on the Diamond Iron-Man he did eventually bend so much he came over on himself - there were no such issues on the lighter 6" figures. As a cheap and cheerful option I have a few of these dotted around my displays and plan to order more for future figure additions. While we are all mourning the loss of the Stan Lee BAF in the Everett Ross and Killmonger 2-pack, further disappointment has been revealed in this newest image of the Winter Soldier & Falcon 2-pack - the other set that should have contained Stan Lee parts. After promising prototype images of Bucky, it seems Hasbro have simply gone back and used the clean shaven shorter haired head from the Civil War release, albeit with face print technology. This is of course not screen accurate to how Bucky was seen in Infinity War with his longer hair and beard. The 2014 Winter Soldier gun is also included which makes little sense but it looks like there is a second option of an Assault Rifle packed over the other side. Falcon seems to be identical to all the Falcon relases to date with perhaps tweaked paint and possible face print. He is still devoid of his AK47 hand guns. Pros : Outfit is nicely detailed. Helmet works well. Articulation is pretty good. Cons : What should be metallic bronze on helmet and outfit is plain plastic. Face sculpt is showing its age (sculpted 2012) When Avengers hit movie screens in 2012, the Marvel Legends line as we know it today was purely comic book based. It wouldn't be until 2 years later with the Guardians of the Galaxy that MCU figures crashed the Legend party. Hasbro did however release a range of 6" Avengers figures, which were exclusive to Walmart in the US. Amongst the figures released was a Loki figure complete with sceptre but not his trademark horned helmet. Roll on to 2016 and after the success of the Age of Ultron figures, Hasbro created a Best of MCU wave of Marvel Legends, released in the UK only. The wave included re-releases of some of the 2015 Ultron figures like War Machine and Mk43 Iron-Man. It also threw in the Winter Soldier Black Widow and then took Captain America, Loki and Hawkeye from the 2012 Avengers figures and added these in also. While Cap and Hawkeye were pretty much identical to their 2012 releases, Loki got a tweak and his horned helmet was now added to the figure. He arrived in an Avengers themed Legends box, complete with a part of the Hulkbuster BAF. Loki is presented to the side of an enormous Hulkbuster arm with his sceptre tucked to his side and beneath his arm. His cloak sits behind the figure. The figures head sculpt has a passing resemblance to Tom Hiddlestone, but is very basic with a single skin tone and the only paint applied to eyes and eyebrows. It looks very cartoonish. The newly added helmet is snugly fitted over the head and is cast in a dull plastic orange rather than the shiny bronze we would like it to be. The horns are nicely shaped and although they are a slightly flexible plastic they are even on the curve and the point. The costume for Loki is very intricate with several layers over the base body. Like the helmet the metallic parts of armour are too dull and would have looked much better with either a glossy wash, or a metallic colouring - not the dull base orange plastic. There is a load of sculpted detail round the back of the figure in the rubbery cloak. This is quite odd considering we are about to cover this up with a cloak. Loki's cloak is a flowing green with a sheen tot he finish. There is actually some metallic bronze here on the shoulder panels - why on earth wasn't this carried on to the full figure? The cloak has a peg in the centre which matches a shaped socket on the back of the figure. Once inserted it holds in place really ell and looks like it is hanging on the shoulders, not levitating above it. While the figure may be 6 years old, it still comes with pretty much the same articulation you'd expect from a current release. The head is ball jointed, as are the shoulders which have a full range of movement. Under the shoulder is a bicep swivel, and beneath this double jointed elbows which allow the arms to bend almost onto themselves. The arms end with a rotating wrist. Under the cloak is a waist swivel .The legs, also hidden under the robes, start with ball jointed hips. We then have a thigh swivel, double jointed knees and finally ankle rockers. All the joints are tight and Loki stands pretty well, even with that huge horned helmet. While not advertised on the box, nor immediately evident when you first handle the figure, the helmet is actually removable. The fit is incredible considering it is an added part. Once off the likeness to Hiddlestone is a bit better and there is sculpted slicked black hair which flows back onto the shoulders. The sole accessory is Loki's sceptre, the one that would go on to create so much trouble for the Avengers. It is cast in a softer plastic with a slightly metallic bronze tone to the plastic. The blade is painted silver and in the centre is a metallic blue compartment where the Mind Stone is held. Because of the way Loki's hands are sculpted, the sceptre will only fit into the left hand. Once in place it holds well and can be posed accordingly so that Loki can be summoning an army of Chitauri, or potentially mind controlling Hawkeye. This figure was originally tough to locate as was anything from the Avengers movie. With this re-release, Hasbro have given us a real opportunity to start building an original Avengers display - and they even took the opportunity to enhance the figure with the removable helmet. While the sculpt does not stand up to more modern figures, the outfit is well realise - even if the metallic sections aren't painted as such. Articulation is just as good as we see today, and the sceptre and helmet are well designed.
