- Mego Returns! Checkout the first products hitting Target stores in the US
We've got a lot more information this week about the return of the iconic Mego corporation and what new product they will be bringing to market. The company are staying true to their 1970's and 80's roots with a staple of 8" figures in soft goods clothing. These will include licences very much "of the era" with the likes of Star Trek, Action Jackson and I Dream of Jeannie shown in the launch material. Other licences mentioned include The Brady Bunch, Cheers and Married with Children. Like their previous lines, Mego will pack these in a blister package. Two packs will come in a window box. There will also be larger 14" figures, an odd size compared to the market standard, which will come in boxed packaging. The first of these is a DC figure in the shape of Harley Quinn. It seems all these new Mego releases are exclusive to Target in the US and will go on sale at the end of July. It is not yet clear as yet if these will get any kind of international release. "Target’s exclusive line of Mego collectibles will be available in stores and online July 29 at prices ranging from $14.99 to $29.99. Check out our full assortment of collectibles at Target stores nationwide and Target.com."
- Character announce new Doctor Who 13th Doctor figure
Character Options have revealed the first action figure of Jodie Whitaker as the 13th Doctor. The figure stands 10" tall and comes with soft goods tailored clothing. She will also come with her new sonic screwdriver. The figure is scaled to fit with previous 12" scaled figures from the 10th Doctor era. Fans should be able to pick up the figure from August 2018. This announcement is hopefully the first of many new products as the BBC and their licence holders prepare for this new era of the show to begin in Autumn 2018. Press Release Character Options is delighted to unveil its brand new Doctor Who figure, the first 10” figure of the Thirteenth Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker. The new, highly detailed 10”/26cm fully articulated, collectible figure comes dressed in real fabric high-waisted culottes, rainbow striped dark blue shirt and coat. The figure also comes with the Doctor’s essential Sonic Screwdriver accessory. Alasdair Dewar, Character Options’ Director of Product Development commented: “The new 10 inch Adventure Figure is a fantastic addition to the range. Made even better by the use of 3D scan data. The likeness is absolutely fantastic and along with the scaled fabric clothing kids and collectors alike will enjoy this bigger sized figure to play without display ... and ... it’s by sheer chance perfectly in scale with our 2006 12 inch Doctor Who range” Rikesh Desai, Licensing Director at BBC Studios, says; “As the UK Master Toy Licensee for Doctor Who, Character Options consistently produce great toys for the brand. The new Thirteenth Doctor figure is no exception; the attention to detail, real clothes and quality of the product make it a great collectible for fans of all ages.” The new figure will be available from August, for more information go to www.character-online.co.uk #doctorwho #actionfigure #bbc #Jodiewhitaker #toy #dalek #thedoctor #Drwho
- Home Bargains receive new 6" Star Wars Black Series figures at £5.99 each
Home Bargains in the UK have restocked on Star Wars Black Series 6" figures at the bargain price of £5.99 The catch is that the entire shelf is made up of the 2017 Kylo Ren and the 2016 Jyn Erso. These have not appeared in an official wave together so we would assume these are solid cases purchased by Home Bargains - probably from surplus stock from a supplier or it could be part of the Toys R Us supply chain. Let us know if you find anything different in your Home Bargains stores #starwars #blackseries #hasbro #homebargains #storereport #uk #bargain

The Star Wars Black Series 3 pack of Astromech droids was originally announced and displayed at Toy Fair 2018 and it was stated this would be an Amazon exclusive. While a small amount have come through the far east, we haven't had any details of a widespread release - until now, when the Amazon holding page went up for this set. There is no price or release date as yet, but you can bookmark now and add to your list so you are notified when the set goes up for order. The pack contains R2-X2, R5-D8 and a weathered R2-D2. These three droids all took part in the Battle of Yavin with R5-D8 flying with Jek Porkins and R2-X2 with Theron Nett (Red 10). The boxset is being called the Red Squadron Droid Set #starwars #anewhope #astromech #droids #r2d2 #blackseries #hasbro #amazon
- More new Jurassic World 2 dinosaurs incoming from Mattel
Mattel have announced more Jurassic World 2 dinosaurs arriving in stores soon. Up first we have a brand new Grab and Growl Indoraptor set. This new version of the Indoraptor includes sounds and lights. We then have the next Attack Pack Dinosaurs with Proceratosaurus, Ankylosaurus and Protoceratops. The final reveal is the Suchomimus which is a larger Action Attack release. The sticking point for UK customers is the fact the current launch figures are still clogging shelves in Smyths and the Supermarkets, which may make these later releases harder to find in the UK. A new "Jurassic World" electronic Indoraptor has been revealed as well as packaged pictures of the wave 3 "Attack Pack" figures and the lone wave 2 "Action Attack" dinosaur. These will be showing up before too long I am sure. The Action Attack Suchomimus should actually be out any day now as wave 2 toys are hitting pretty hard right now. #jurassicpark #jurassicworld #dinosaurs #mattel #actionfigures #toys
- Mezco One:12 Hela, Thor Ragnarok
Mezco have finalised the details of their 1/12 Collective Hela figure from Thor Ragnarok. The Goddess of Death will arrive in the first quarter of 2019 and will be priced at $80. US customers can pre-order now with a $20 non-refundable deposit. Hela will come with two heads - one with her intricate headgear, and another standard version, which for me looks a lot more like Cate Blanchett. There will also be swap out hand options and the usual stand and display base. She will be armed with two necroblades. Expect UK pre-orders to go up soon with an estimate UK price around £70-£80 In Marvel Studio’s Thor: Ragnarok, Hela is released from prison following Odin’s death. Planning to rule Asgard and create an empire, the Goddess of Death must first face off against her young brother, Thor, and his team known as ‘The Revengers’. The One:12 Collective Ragnarok Hela figure captures the malicious intent of the former Asgardian executioner. Presented in a film-accurate fitted suit with metallic accents and chest plate armor, Hela comes equipped with two Necroswords – made from obsidian and used to decimate the Einjerjar, the elite warriors of Asgard. #thor #ragnarok #hela #mezco #actionfigures #one12 #collective #mcu #marvel #news

This one is priced at £29.99 and will likely be a little more desirable. - Entertainer Toy Store stocking new Solo 6" Black Series and 3.75" Vintage Collection
While we were unable to confirm this in person at our local Entertainer, there have been several social media posts confirming that the Entertainer has received new stocks of Star Wars Black Series 6" figures. The new figures are from wave 16 and include Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, Imperial Range Trooper and Island Journey Rey. These remain priced at the incredibly low current price of £11 each - but I'd expect to see a price hike shortly, potentially all the way back to the "was" price of £22. Either way it is positive to see a UK high street retailer supporting the 6" Black Series in the absence of Toys R Us. Sadly, the UK case assortment doesn't have any room for Tarkin, Death Star Trooper or Jawa. Don't expect to see these. The Entertainer has also started to stock Wave 1 of the Star Wars Vintage 3.75" figures, priced at £15 each. These are also turning up in Disney Stores. These aren't showing up online as yet, but we'd expect them to go online soon at ToyShop.com Images posted on Facebook by Richard N, Dario O, Eggman Studios and Paul T.
- Review : Star Wars Black Series Grand Moff Tarkin
Pros : Well detailed head sculpt and great likeness to Peter Cushing Cons : The head can look a little large when posed with other figures While half of Wave 16 of the Black Serie was turned over to Solo, A Star Wars Story - the other half was Original Trilogy themed with two repacks from the 40th Anniversary and a brand new figure in the shape of Grand Moff Tarkin. Tarkin had been announced some 8-months earlier at San Diego 2017, and while most other figures confirmed at the show had seen a late 2017 release - Tarkin was subject to a few delays. I guess we should be grateful as holding him back for the face print technology has really enhanced the figure. The packaging remains consistent for phase 3 and Tarkin is number #63 in the line. The Gregory Titus artwork used front and back shows the gaunt features of Peter Cushing. Round the back the bio talks about the ambitious and ruthless Tarkin and how he was a favourite of Emperor Palpatine. Tarkin sits into his inner tray with the IT-0 interrogation droid to the side. As I stated in the opening, the real beauty of this figure is the head sculpt which faithfully captures the look of Peter Cushing from the movie, and will also stand in just as well as the CGI Tarkin from Rogue One. The face printing enhances this deep sculpt with emotive and cunning looking eyes peering out from under that furrowed brow. My only criticism of the had is that it appears a touch too large for the body - particularly when we pose Tarkin with other human characters. The Imperial Uniform sculpt stems from the Rogue One DIrector Krennic figure - with arms and legs repainted and re-used for Tarkin. The main body may or may not be tweaked from Krennic, but what it does have is accurate ranking badges and the twin canisters that we see on Tarkin in his scenes in A New Hope. The uniform is simply painted in that battleship grey, with high gloss jackboots. The belt is a matt black with silver buckle, and silver is used on those canisters either side of the main tunic. The final paint job is the intricate colouring on that ranking badge wit blue, red and yellow neatly painted. Wilhuff Tarkin is not a man of action, but the figure gets the standard 16 points of articulation we are used to on the Black Series. The head is only a ball joint, with no pivot in the neck. This does mean the figure is held back a bit looking forward and backward. A second ball joint sits at the waist allowing the torso to turn and lean forward and backward by a few mm. Arms are ball jointed, rotating single joint elbows and pivot wrists. Legs are ball jointed hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle rockers. Despite using the same legs as Krennic, the ankle rockers are tight and Tarkin stands fine on his own. My only disappointment with the articulation is that the single elbow joint wont allow the hand to be posed on Tarkin's chin, an iconic pose we see in the movie as Tarkin Considers his options while trying to find the location of the Rebel base. With the similarity in uniforms there will be some significant comparisons between Tarkin and the other Imperial Officers like Veers (as we see here) and the incoming Piett. This image illustrates the head sizing issue, and you can also see the distinct part re-use - which is not a bad thing if it makes it cost effective for Hasbro to bring us lots of Imperials - anyone for Tagge? Tarkin does not come with any accessories as such, it is not as though he needs or uses any weapons. Instead we get what can almost be classed as a second figure in the pack in the shape of this IT-0 Imperial Interrogation Droid. The droid is the one deployed to torture and interrogate Princess Leia while she was imprisoned on the Death Star. It is cast in a black plastic with various appendages coming off it in silver. It sits on its own flight stand which is pre-attached out of the pack. There is a ball joint between the droid and the stand which does mean you can angle your posing if you wish. Up close the droid is well painted with some very small circular details in both silver and red. Saldy, none of the appendages are articulated - although they look like they could be. To avoid breakages these are also cast in a softer plastic and can look misshapen out of the box. Grand Moff Tarkin is one of those figures that helps collectors start to recreate iconic scenes. As well as scenes like the above with Leia and the interrogation droid, Tarkin looks just as at home facing down Krennic or "holding Vaders' leash". You will just need to be careful with that slightly oversized head in putting him directly with other human figures. Grand Moff Tarkin is a well sculpted, neatly painted and well articulated figure. The addition of the IT-0 interrogation droid adds some real value to the pack. He is a chase figure, coming with the Solo line and that is disappointing as everyone should have the opportunity to add the Grand Moff to their display. On his own the head size isn't too much of a problem - but choose where you pose him as putting him with Veers for example makes them look like they are two different scales. I score Grand Moff Tarkin and his IT-0 droid a 4 out of 5. #starwars #blackseries #wave16 #hasbro #imperial #empire #anewhope #grandmofftarkin #actionfigure #review
