Medicom have released two versions of the 2001 A Space Odyssey space suit figures to date in their MAFEX line, the orange as worn by Dr David Bowman in the 1968 classic movie and the yellow suit worn by Frank Poole. Medicom have announced a re-release of these two original figures for November 2018, and joining them are two new colour variants with a Green Suit as seen in the Emergency Airlock of Discover 1, and a Blue suit as seen in the movie but never worn. "The iconic spacesuit from the classic 1968 film "2001: A Space Odyssey" joins Medicom's MAFEX action figure lineup! It's about 16cm tall, and fully posable with multiple interchangeable hand parts and a stand for anti-gravity poses. Please note that the helmet cannot be removed. All four colours are due in stores in November 2018 and expect to be paying around £40 for these either direct from Far East (with potential custom costs on top), or via UK based stockists for a slightly higher price point.

NECA have confirmed details of their Generic Street Scene diorama set which will be released in Quarter 1 of 2019. The set started as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle set at SDCC, and as promised this is a generic general release for fans of multiple licences and works with figures from 6 inch to 9 inch in scale - although I personally think the set starts to look undersized with some of the 7 inch figures used on the promotional photos "Take your action figure collection to the next level with this incredible diorama piece! The team at Great Twins have shared with us the next two 1/12 Terminator figures joining their Terminator line next year. The first figure, the T800, is due in November 2018 and you can now look forward to expanding the line in 2019 with the addition of a T800 Endoskeleton and the T1000 in Police Officer disguise from Terminator 2. The T800 Endoskeleton will be a combination of plastic and die-cast metal. There will be 25 points of articulation across the body. Alternative hand options are included, as is a plasma rifle. In a follow up to last years exclusive Scream Factory figure exclusive, NECA have confirmed today a sequel figure for the Bluray release of Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2. Scream Factory will release the collectors edition of Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2 on December the 11th, and with the limited edition set fans can also get an 8" NECA figure of Ricky / Killer Santa. As per previous Scream Factory exclusives, these will be limited to the US only. Magazine images from the Far East revealed that the next MCU MAFEX 1/12 figure from Medicom will be Black Panther. After these grainy images a slew of promotional images followed from Medicom. Black Panther will come with three head options - two masked with one having the white eyes, and the other showing T'Challa's eyes beneath, there is then an unmasked version. Also included are a ceremonial Wakandan blade and five sets of hands - two clenched and three with claws open in various poses. The figure is due for release in August 2019.

Welcome to our review of the Star Wars Black Series 4-LOM figure. 4-LOM was released as part of Wave 17 in mid-2018 and was pretty scarce to start with having been in the midst of the Solo movie figures which were not widely picked up by Toy Retailers. Many fans, including me, had to wait until the Autumn for solid cases of 4-LOM to bring him to our collection. Packaging  4/5 4-LOM is number 67 in the Black Series Phase 3 and as per all of the Phase 3 releases is packed in the gloss black box with red highlights on the figure background and on the right hand spine. The grayscale  artwork is very detailed, capturing the insectoid eyes of 4-LOM brilliantly. Round the back is a larger version of the same image and a short bio about this Bounty Hunter Droid as seen in the Empire Strikes Back. "A rusty droid with insectile features, 4-LOM was originally a protocol droid, but logic glitches allowed him to escape his programming and become a bounty hunter. That proved a perfect occupation for the cold, calculating mechanical". 4-LOM is the fourth of the six Bounty Hunters released - with Dengar on the way in Wave 19 and Zuckuss coming as an exclusive. Sculpt & Paint  4/5 The head is a wonderful sculpt capturing the insectoid features of 4-LOM. The piece is very organic rather than robotic, but of course that is representative of what we saw on screen. The eyes are gorgeous with the insectoid bulging pattern. The whole head is cast out of a green translucent plastic and is painted. The paint is a grey metallic colouring with a gold and brown patterning then for the eyes and lighter grey for the front valves around where the mouth should be. By using the translucent plastic there is a wonderful effect when you place a light behind the head where the eyes glow green. Be careful not to put too powerful a light behind though as the rest of the head will glow green also. The body of 4-LOM is that of a standard protocol droid, but this has not been a direct re-use of C-3PO from the Black Series. The chest section is brand new with more organic chest panels down to the central circular panel. Under this the midriff also appears new and is extended so 4-LOM stands a little higher than 3-PO. Crotch and lower leg look to be re-used, while the arms are look to be a mix of re-used shoulders and new arm and hand sections. The body is well proportioned and cast in a gloss dark grey. Paint apps are added to weather the droid with a dirty/rusty brown colour around the panel edges. While this looks good, I think they could have gone a bit more heavy handed to really dirty up to what we see on screen. The oher paint app is the red smear on his chest which is painted into place. ​​ Articulation 3/5 4-LOM, on an articulation count, adds up to an impressive 20 points of articulation. However, he isn't as poseable as normal figures with the protocol body proving very restrictive as it did with C-3PO. The head, as a starting point, is really well done with a good range of motion in all directions. We also get a ball joint in the torso under the tummy section. This can rotate and can lean back a good way, although forward lean is blocked. The arms are improved on from the original C-3PO base figure with some movement now inserted into the elbows with the pistons ow sliding up and down the lower arm to allow the elbow to bend. This isn't full motion, but is much improved and it works well with the shoulder ball joint, the rotating shoulder cup and the bicep swivel. Legs are ball jointed hips with a thigh swivel underneath, the large outer leg panels do restrict the legs and you will be left with 4-LOM in standing neutral poses only  - particularly when the knees are only a single joint that cant even go to 90 degrees. The ankles are rockers and standing 4-LOM using these is easy. ​ Accessories  3/5 4-LOM is armed with a DLT-19 heavy blaster, the same weapon used and packed with the Sandtroopers earlier in the line. It is cast in a gloss black plastic with some decent detailing but not a drop of paint applied. The weapon can be held in the right hand, where a trigger finger does slot into place. In one hand it looks odd, but even with the restricted arm articulation you can bend the other arm across and tweak its wrist pivot to hold the barrel of the gun in a two handed pose. The blaster looks best though for me in the pose we see in the movie with the barrel in his hand and the grip stood on the floor. Summary 4-LOM is a wonderful addition to the range and it is nice to see another "alien" type design of that insectoid head vs the usual human releases. I am pleased to see once again Hasbro cast and sculpted new parts where it was needed and there is also a clever touch with the ability to back light those eyes. The body could do with a bit more weathering and better shoulder articulation - as is being promised for the 2019 0-0-0 protocol droid - would have been nice. The gun would have also looked a whole lot better with a wash of gunmetal paint. ​​ I score 4-LOM a 4 out of 5

Good news for Star Wars Black Series collectors with the release of this promotional poster from Disney Stores. It shows three exclusive Black Series figures coming to Disney Stores in November. Zuckuss, Captain Phasma and the FX Stormtrooper were originally planned to be Toys R Us Exclusives - and remain so in Canada - but were picked up by Disney Store after the collapse of Toys R Us in the USA. We would hope the same release applies to UK and other countries as Disney Store are usually consistent worldwide with their product releases. We do await this being confirmed, but might be time to start keeping a close eye on the Disney Stores near you.

Welcome to our review of The Dark World Thor from the Marvel Legends The First Ten Years series of releases from 2018. Thor comes in a two pack with Lady Sif who we will be reviewing separately. If you have come here after the Lady Sif review then please feel free to skip the Packaging segment which is a repeat. Packaging 5/5 Rather than stick with the scooped sided packaging of the main Marvel Legends line, the First Ten Years packaging reverts to a standard box with a gloss black finish. The figures are displayed through a shaped window, trimmed in gloss red. The main logo is that of Marvel Studio's First Ten Years, with the Legends logo slightly smaller to the opposite side. The two character names sit under the window in an expanded section of the red border. The names are simply given as "Thor" and "Sif". Across from this is confirmation that these are taken from the 2nd Thor movie, The Dark World. On the right hand side spine is a montage of conceptual images from The Dark World including Thor wielding Mjolnir. The spines on the side of each of the First Ten Years line up to make a full montage of those First Ten Years. So even if fans open the packaging they may wish to keep the box. The left hand spine is designed more as a data card and carries a synopsis of Thor : The Dark World. This is in white text over a red box and is headed by Thor's hammer logo. Beneath this the set is confirmed as #5 in the First Ten Years series. "A Legendary Warrior, Sif fights alongside Thor in the Marauder's war at the battle of Vanaheim to regain control of the Nine Realms. To end the siege, Thor strikes down the giant rock monster. Together, Sif and Thor take the Marauders prisoner and bring them to Asgard to face justice" ​​ The reverse of the box repeats the First Ten Years and Legends Logo's with the number 5 confirmed again as the set number in the corner. Under this sits two circular images of Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Jaimie Alexander as Sif. Under each sits a short bio piece about the character. "Thor : Side by side with his childhood friend, Sif, Thor strikes down the Marauders on Vanaheim, seeking to bring peace back to the Nine Realms." "Sif : A long-time ally of Thor and a powerful Asgardian warrior, Sf battles wit a double-bladed sword and a keen understanding of her enemies." To the side of this sits the movie poster for Thor : The Dark World. The figures are accessed via either of the two side flaps and slide out in a plastic tray set into an inner cardboard tray that is decorated in more grey scale montage images of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sculpt & Paint 3/5 Thor re-uses a great deal of parts from the 2015 Age of Ultron Thor. The head, body and legs are all re-used with new armoured arms sculpted for this figure. The likeness to Chris Hemsworth is passing at best, and there while the eyes indicate this has some face printing applied, the beard is very thick and angular and the face shape is just off. The hair is a seperate piece sculpted to flow around his ears and down his face and over his shoulders. Again it's not quite right and the two pieces down either side of his face don't hang too naturally. While the head sculpt doesn't quite hit the mark, the body is much better. As with most Asgardian figures from Hasbro, Thor is sculpted as a taller muscular figure and this is enhanced by the solid armour pieces down the chest and into the legs. There is then some very good chainmail arms with the pattern sculpted into the plastic and then painted and washed in silver. The red cloak is a cast plastic piece and quite rigid and this flows from the shoulder armour down the back of the figure. The armour is predominantly grey but there are gold sections which are painted in a bright gold finish - although some of the circular panels on the chest plate are not fully finished and look a bit wonky. Articulation  3/5 Thor racks 18 points of articulation, starting as always with a ball jointed pivot head. This has full movement, with the hair section being soft enough to move with the head although doing so does make it look a little odd. The main body has a torso ball joint and this gives Thor the ability to rotate his upper torso and lean in and out. Arms are ball jointed shoulders, a bicep swivel, double jointed elbows and pivot wrists. This opens up a raft of arm posing options - with or without his hammer. The legs are a similar set with ball jointed hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle rockers. THe lower skirt and the cloak do hamper lower leg posing and you will be limited to wider stances only for Thor. The hip joints are sadly quite loose, the left more so on our figure. This makes Thor difficult to stay standing and you will find him either sliding into splits or sliding then falling. ​​ Accessories  4/5 Thor comes with Mjolnir as an accessory, and Thor's iconic hammer is really well executed as a 1/12 scale piece. It is cast in a slightly softer plastic, but the lines and angles remain crisp. There is sculpted detail on the hammer head and then a twisting leather wrap design on the handle down to a looped leather look strap. It looks like the whole piece is cast in a gloss gray marble type plastic that makes the head look wonderful. Over the top of this is a darker wash that brings out the detailing around the shaped ends. The handle is then painted black with a bright silver pommel and dark brown loop. Thor can hold Mjolnir in either hand, but it sits most comfortably in the right hand as seen on screen. ​ Summary Thor and Sif represent the first figures in 6 inch scale for Thor, The Dark World and as a pairing they look excellent together and are scaled beautifully - even with Hasbro's ongoing approach to sculpting Asgardians a lot taller than normal human characters. ​ When lined up with Sif you can see there are a few years between the development of these figures and Thor sadly looks a little off in terms of head sculpt and paint applications. The body armour is done well as is the chain mail, but painting could have been better with lots of loose lines and miss-coloured edges. Articulation is great, but the cloak will hold back certain poses and it is a pity that the hips are loose straight out of the box. Mjolnir is a well executed accessory and what else would you give the God of Thunder? ​ I score the Dark World Thor 3/5 ​​ Read our associated Lady Sif review here

Funko have confirmed four more figures to join their Disney Afternoon range of characters. The next four will be available almost immediately and include Gizmoduck from Duck Tales, King Louie from Talespin, Gadget from Rescue Rangers and Launchpad from Darkwing Duck. "Relive the glory of youth and afternoons spent watching your favorite Disney cartoons. Better still, reenact moments from your favorite shows with these Disney Afternoon action figures. Gizmoduck needs your assistance stopping crime. Gadget’s more than capable of flying the Rescue Rangers in and out of danger, and keeping their plane in tiptop shape between adventures. King Louie’s probably taking it easy at Louie’s Place, if you happen to need him for some amiable conversation. And Darkwing Ducks’ pilot Launchpad McQuack is an eager and able sidekick."

SH Figuarts have unveiled the promotional images for their Infinity War 1/12 Mk4 War Machine figure. Rhodey will land in April 2019 to join the existing Avengers in the battle with Thanos. The figure will include numerous shoulder mounted weaponry with clip on FX pieces to simulate the firing of the shoulder cannon and the repulsor blasts from the hands and feet. There will also be a number of hand options and the new stand design with built in compartment to keep your spare parts. Sadly there is no unmasked Don Cheadle head. Pre-orders commence from 19th of October at your usual retailers. We would assume this will be picked up by Bluefin for the US market.
