- McFarlane Game of Thrones, Jon Snow
After showing us a tease of the Night King and the full Daenerys Targaryen figure, McFarlane have now moved onto teasing us with new images of their Game of Thrones Jon Snow Action Figure. Jon will arrive in Wave 1 of the line in April 2019 along with Daenerys, The Night King and Arya Stark. The figures are reported to be 6 inch in scale, putting them the same size as the short lived Funko line of figures from Game of Thrones Season 1 and 2. From the images it seems Jon will be packed with Longclaw and a Dragon Glass Dagger. "McFarlane Toys partners with HBOs hit television series Game of Thrones to bring you highly detailed figures of iconic characters, each coming with screen accurate accessories. Jon Snow, revealed in later seasons as born Aegon Targaryen, is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, the late Prince of Dragonstone. A decorated individual, Jon was chosen as Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch a post he held until his subsequent murder. Having died, Jon is released from his Night’s watch oath and helps to lead a successful raid overtaking Winterfell from House Bolton, and restoring House Stark’s reign over the North, in which Jon was proclaimed “King of the North.”
- Marvel Legends Black Panther Wave 2
New images have been circulated for the 2nd wave of Marvel Legends Black Panther figures. This complete MCU wave is made up of six figures from the Black Panther movie and we can now see from these images the confirmed accessories for each figure and where each of the six parts for the M'Baku Build-a-Figure will sit. The "charged" Black Panther figure will come with a pair of fists as well as an unmasked T'Challa head. The figure is essentially a repaint from the original release, but the head sculpt of Chadwick Boseman looks new. He will come with M'Baku's right arm. His father, T'Challa, will come with no accessories or swap out parts and M'Baku's left leg. The Dora Milaje figure is being named as just that and includes three heads per box so you can army-build the Kings Guard. Thankfully they are packed two per case. The Dora Milaje are armed with the spears used for Okoye (repainted) and the disc blades from Nakia. M'Baku's right leg is then included. The second Black Panther figure is a re-release of the original Civil War suit. There are no accessories or hand options, but the same T'Challa unmasked head as the "charged" suit is included. The final two figures are the bad guys. The first is Klaue who will come with two left forearms one of which is opened with his weapon underneath. He also gets a pistol that he can wield in his right hand. The main torso of M'Baku will come with Klaue And the wave rounds off with Erik Killmonger, this time in his mercenary gear. He has the same unmasked head as packed in the two pack with Everett Ross and also the tribal mask. The mask appears to be wearable rather than an alternative head? He too is armed with a handgun, and a larger automatic weapon which looks like the one original packed with the Netflix Punisher. To finish of M'Baku you get the head and staff with Killmonger. The full wave is expected in late December. It is being reported as the last big wave that UK independents are having to import before a big shake up in UK distribution by Hasbro UK in 2019.

- Star Wars Black Series Wave 20 line-up for 2019
Yakface.com are reporting the make-up for the first wave of 2019, Wave 20 of Phase 3, is going to be made up of the following Black Series 6 inch action figures Padme Amidala, The Battle Droid and Mace Windu will represent the prequels. These were the most recently announced figures and could indicate Hasbro have plans to expand on the prequel figures in 2019 with the 20th anniversary of The Phantom Menace. Joining them will be the Vice Admiral Holdo figure. She was announced a good few months ago but hasn't found a slot yet and will be sole representative in this wave from the sequels. The other two figures come from Solo, A Star Wars Story. We get Han as a Mudtrooper - a figure we think will fly as it can double up as an Army Builder. And rounding off the wave is Dryden Vos. The case of 8 will be one of each figure except Padme and The Battle Droid who will be packed two per case. While doubling up the Battle Droid is a no brainer its a shame that it wasn't the aforementioned Mudtrooper Han that got the extra figure per box? The figures are reportedly going to be an April 2019 release - and that leave quite a gap between Wave 19 and this wave - but January / February will be filled by the first wave of the Archive Series made up of Luke Skywalker X-Wing, Boba Fett, IG88 and Bossk. There will be 8 figures to a case and therefore two of each figures. With this confirmation of Wave 20 (still open to amendments of course) we now know that the current wave of figures hitting shelves is the last one of the year. We have therefore closed off our 2018 Black Series page and opened our 2019 page for you to peruse. We will continue to fill in the gaps on reviews and galleries as we go - including getting back on with our retro reviews from the early waves.

The team at NECA have shared these two images of what will eventually be an Alien 3 creature pack. The set will include the juvenile runner Alien as seen in the film. There is also the Queen Facehugger from a deleted scene and to go with it a young Alien queen - another unused concept of the movie. - McFarlane Monsters return with Viserion the Dragon from Game of Thrones
It seems 6 inch figures are not all McFarlane have planned for their Game of Thrones licence. This Viserion the Dragon figure has just gone up for pre-order on Entertainment Earth. Viserion will be the first in a return to the McFarlane Monsters line and while not in scale with the 6 inch figures, he will provide an impressive shelf presence standing over 10 inches high and with a 16 and a half inch wingspan. Articulation will sit at 10 points and there is also removable ice breath FX pieces. The Entertainment Earth price is a very impressive $24.99 and that will most likely translate to £25 her in UK. Viserion is due to arrive in April 2019 - coinciding with the 8th and final series of Game of Thrones. "McFarlane Toys is proud to announce the lead-off figure to the return of McFarlane Monsters, Viserion. Along with his brothers Drogon and Rhaegal, Viserion was raised since birth by Daenerys Targaryen, however, after being fatally wounded, and then resurrected, Viserion has now fallen under the command of his new master, the Night King. Under the Night King, Viserion would blast away the Wall in Eastside with his now blue flame, allowing the Army of the Dead to enter the Seven Kingdoms. Viserion is an incredibly detailed figure of Viserion showcasing his ice dragon form from the season 7 finale of Game of Thrones. The figure features an articulated tail, legs, wings, and neck totaling over 10 points of articulation. Viserion's wings span 16 1/2-inches wide and features up and down movement. Viserion measures 16 1/2-inches wide x 10 1/2-inches tall x 9-inches long fully displayed on the elevated base. The figure comes with removable burst of blue fire." #McFarlane #GameOfThrones
- Review : Marvel Legends Okoye BAF, Black Panther
Welcome to our Action Figure review of the Marvel Legends 6 inch Okoye figure. Okoye is a build-a-figure assembled from parts spread across the Marvel Legends Black Panther wave. Assembly To build Okoye you need parts spread across 5 different Marvel Legend releases. The Okoye wave is made up of movie figures of Black Panther (head), Erik Killmonger (Leg) and Nakia (Body & Spear). You then need the comic book figures of Black Bolt (Leg) and Namor (arms). With all parts collected, assembly is push and click and there were no issues in getting the full Okoye figure built. Sculpt & Paint 5/5 The face print technology has brought the Marvel Legends facial likenesses on massively in the past 18-months, but it seems to suit female likenesses better with some stunning printed heads recently including Gamora and Hela. Okoye is perhaps the best of the bunch so far with a hyper realistic look with shading around the face and the best eyes I've seen on a £20 figure for a long time. On top of this is the intricate tattoo across Okoye's head which is replicated really well and shaded just enough to be visible, but not that it looks painted - brilliant work. The body of Okoye is just as impressive as the head with an unprecedented amount of sculptural detail including numerous panels and textures. The overriding colour scheme is tones of red through orange and to gold and each area is painted neatly and with washing in place to further enhance the detail and patterns. While the body looks fantastic, you can see inaccuracies to the final screen costume with the neck piece being less ornate and the shoulder panels being smaller - perhaps this was another example of Hasbro working to an early concept image? The cynics initially looked at the Black Panther wave and the inclusion of this figure and Nakia and felt the body was a direct reuse - just repainted. This simply is not true, despite the closeness of the Dora Milaje outfits. Okoye has distinctly different parts throughout and I can't find a definitive re-use, only perhaps a retooling of areas to tweak them? Articulation 4/5 Like all the female releases to date in the Legends MCU line, Okoye does lack a couple of key joints that exist on the male figures. She comes in with 16 points of articulation in total with the arms and torso taking the hit on joints we do see on the male bucks. The head is ball jointed and has a pivot and with such a slim neck and no hair to impede movement the mobility of the head is full on. The torso has a basic ball joint under the chest piece and this allows the upper torso to rotate and to lean with a very tight ratchet movement - beware that leaning the torso back too far on such a slim figure will expose a large gap and the joint itself. There is no waist joint sat under this. The arms are ball jointed shoulders and these are not impeded by the shoulder armour panels. Elbows are single joints, not doubles sadly, and although these rotate they do only bend to a right angle which puts some posing out of reach. The arms finish with pivot wrists. Legs have a full set of joints with ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle rockers. The skirt section however does impede leg movement. Despite being a slim figure, Okoye stands perfectly well with no support required. Accessories 4/5 Both of Okoye's accessories come with the Nakia figure and it isn't immediately obvious if these are for Okoye or Nakia - and I guess you could use them on either. The first is what looks to be the tip of a spear - broken off at the shaft. I am not recalling seeing this in the movie (I may be wrong) so this again might be an early concept or deleted scene. The piece is cast well and is a lot sharper on a harder plastic than some recent accessories. Paint is simple with the plastic being black and the blade then painted silver. It sits in either hand for posing purposes. While not seen in this guise in the film the smaller weapon head is closer to the spear heads we do see on screen. The second accessory, the full spear, features a double blade type of affair and again I may be wrong, but I am struggling to see this represented on screen either in Black Panther or Infinity War. I also checked to see if the heads could be swapped - but they can't. The larger spear is again crisply cast in a hard plastic and does feel quite brittle. The shaft is cast black plastic but is sculpted with a turned twisting pattern up its length. The blades are painted silver - and neatly painted at that with no obvious leakage onto the shaft. Being nearly 7 inch long, the spear is easily wielded by Okoye in one hand or both and you won't be short of posing options. Summary While many argue standard human figures should not be build-a-figures, I find these recent BAF's like Okoye and Mantis a real pleasure to collect and build. While you could say Okoye would have been better as the main release and Nakia as the BAF, I dont think it makes much of a difference as both figures are stunning. Okoye has a near perfect head sculpt and facial print with a very well executed outfit, albeit slightly differing from the final on screen ensemble. Similarly, the weapons may not be 100% screen accurate but they are well cast and really add a dimension to the posing of the figure of this formidable warrior. Even with the 16 points of articulation Okoye still delivers on all fronts and for me is well deserving of walking away with a 5 out of 5 score.
