Welcome to our review of the 6 inch Marvel Legends Action Figure of Thor from Age of Ultron. The figure was first released in 2015 as part of an Amazon Exclusive 4 pack of figures, the set also contained Age of Ultron figures of Bruce Banner, Black Widow and Hawkeye. Thor would go on to receive a re-release in 2016 as part of a UK/European "best of the MCU" wave. This wave repacked a mix of Avengers figures from the Legends back catalogue along with a build-a-figure of the Hulkbuster. This review is based on the 2016 re-release. Packaging 3/5 Thor arrives in the scooped side Marvel Legends box set, and like the rest of the 2016 best of MCU wave there is a red theme to the artwork and the character name. Thor has the Age of Ultron logo under the window, while some of the other releases were labeled for the original Avengers movie (Captain America and Loki). The pose for Thor in the pack is a bit odd, with his arm raised to one side. The knee is also bent and turned to side. The side artwork is tinted red also and shows the armoured Thor looking over this shoulder to the side. The rear of the box shows the top half of the figure, posed in a promotional image with Mjolnir raised in his right hand. To the side of this is a short piece of text that reads. "When evil threatens Humanity, Thor defends justice with his indestructible hammer Mjolnir" Under this character info is a checklist for this MCU 2016 Hulkbuster wave. Being a larger figure, Thor does not include a Hulkbuster piece. Once unpacked Thor is found in the inner tray, and that is printed in grey with an Avengers "A" symbol on the reverse. Thor is not strapped into the clear plastic tray, he is simply held in by the shape of the packaging. His cape is tucked through the plastic to the rear of the box and be very careful pulling this out as the plastic can scratch and damage the cape. Paint & Sculpt 3/5 Thor pre-dates the face print technology, so while the likeness to Chris Hemsworth is passing at best it is also decorated quite basically. The head is cast in flesh coloured plastic that is a touch glossy. Over this is painted the eyebrows and beard, and the eyes - which are quite simple. The lips don't get any tone whatsoever and there are no washes or shading. The hair piece is a seperate piece and this is very well executed in terms of the texture and the braiding around the back. There are a couple of odd strands that hang down either side of the face and while this allows the head to be framed, they do look a bit like they are floating from some angles. The armour and body sculpt is excellent with a dark grey plastic used to cast the chest and legs. Over this are painted silver and gold detailing and the plastic itself is printed with textures of chainmail and studs and rivets. Painting is a bit rough in patches, with the circular panels on the chest showing some signs of bleeding into the grey quite considerably. The arms, like the head, are cast in skin tone plastic and are appropriately muscular for our God of Thunder. The bracers are painted in black and red with gold trim. The cloak is a cast piece in a hard plastic and it connects to the figure at the shoulders. It carries a lot of textural detail, but no paint apps - relying instead only on the red plastic base colour. Accessories 4/5 Thor comes with Mjolnir, and what more does he need. This version of Thor's Hammer is the same as used in the previous Avengers Thors (Walmart exclusives) and it still does the job here with a good shape to the hammer and some sculpted detail around the panels to look like inscriptions. Mjolnir is silver predominantly with a darker wash applied to bring out the engraving detail. The handle, sculpted to look like wrapped leather, is brown with a silver pommel. We then have a flexible strap loop that sits off to one side. The Hammer finishes into ether of Thor's hands and the only concern is the way the strap behaves in terms of how it hangs - or rather doesn't hang naturally as per the laws of gravity. Articulation 3/5 Thor has 18 points of articulation, although posing is not as easy as this level of articulation might indicate. Starting with the head, this is a ball joint only with no pivot. With the hair sculpted as it is the movement on the head is limited to a very simple turn by a few mm's to either side. The torso joint is more maneuverable and allows Thor to twist his upper torso and it also gives some lean forward, backwards and to the sides. The arms are ball jointed at the shoulder, but are held back from being raised fully by the cloak this means Thor can't raise his hammer straight up to summon Lightning. Beneath these impeded shoulders are bicep swivels, double jointed elbows and a pivot wrist. The leg articulation is made up of ball-jointed hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle rockers. All of this is great, except for the fact the cape is so stiff that when the legs are bent or spread outward the cloak hits the floor and stops any movement. You will therefore be restricted to standing poses for Thor. The hips too also are quite loose so there are issues with Thor standing as he seems to want to slide into the splits. Summary Age of Ultron Thor is a nice looking figure for an Avengers line up, but comes with some concerns you need to be aware of. The head sculpt is basic, and not the best likeness - but that is consistent with all releases in this era. The cape and hair (trademarks of Thor) do impede articulation and that means you cant get Thor into certain "classic" poses despite the full count of joints included. Mjolnir is a fantastic accessory, but could do with a more flexible strap so it behaves correctly when you raise or pose the hammer. I score Age of Ultron Thor a 3 out of 5. #489

NECA have released images for the packaging of their Ultimate Stripe Gremlin, due for release in mid-January in the US, UK collectors may have to wait until February if the usual form is followed. Ultimate Stripe comes in an Ultimate Series box which is fully enclosed, with the figure revealed behind an opening front cover. While the Ultimate Gremlin used the Gizmo in his box movie poster, Ultimate Stripe uses the same image with Stripe bursting through the centre of the poster and scrawling "We're Here" in red crayon. "From the original 1984 Gremlins movie! Any fans of the Gremlins movies knows the rules: keep them out of sunlight, don’t get them wet, and never feed them after midnight. Welcome to our review of the 2014 Star Wars Black Series 6 inch Action Figure release of the Imperial Tie Fighter Pilot. The Tie Fighter Pilot was released in the blue line packaging of the Black Series (phase 2) and was part of the 6th wave overall. Packaging 3/5 The Tie Pilot was released in the 6th overall wave of the Black Series, the second wave to be released in the amended blue line packaging. The newer packaging gave the box an extended window that wrapped around the top flap. The lining was changed from orange to blue and continued to run on the backing card of the figure and round the back of the box. The numbering and character name are also picked out in Blue, the Tie Pilot being number #05 in the blue line. Being a black coloured figure, the black backing card does not work for the Tie Fighter Pilot and he does get a little ost in the box. The front artwork is not too flattering, but the box makes up for it round the back where there is a shot from A New Hope with the Tie Pilot in action. Above this sits the text. "TIE FIGHTER PILOTS BATTLE REBEL STARFIGHTERS DURING THE BATTLE OF YAVIN. TESE ELITE IMPERIAL PILOTS DEPLOY FROM THE DEATH STAR BATTLE STATION AND BLAST THE REBEL FIGHTERS WITH LASER CANNON FIRE" "Look out!" This text of course places the Tie PIlot firmly in A New Hope, but of course the design of the Tie Pilot did not change during the saga so the figure is just as applicable for any of the Original Trilogy movies as well as Rogue One, Solo and Rebels. Paint & Sculpt 3/5 The helmet sculpt for the figure is spot on with some crisp detail around the helmet and face plate. While it is all cast out of blac plastic, the eyes are coloured so there is a deeper mirror look to these. The black is broken with the two Imperial silver logos either side of the crest of the helmet. The rest of the body is also black in colouring with a matt undersuit and gloss black armoured parts around the codpiece and gloss black boots and gloves. The chest unit is a separate piece to the body and is connected to the helmet with two fixed tubes. The chest unit has painted switches in grey silver and blue. And aside from a further Imperial Logo decal on the shoulder, the only other paint is some detailing on a control panel on the arm which is neatly painted with red and white buttons and a silver clasp on the buckle of the belt. This belt is cast as an individual piece too and includes a holster. The holster is not something we see in the movie, although an episode of Rebels did show the pilots armed with a similar holstered weapon. The one criticism I have of the figure overall is that he looks a little skinny. The legs should perhaps be baggier around the trousers rather than the skin tight look they've been given. Accessories 2/5 The weapon in question is an E11 blaster rifle as previously packed with the Imperial Stormtrooper figures. It is cast in a plain black plastic with no paint applications at all. It fits into the holster with no issue. It fits into the Pilot's right hand with a trigger finger that slots into the trigger nicely. Thanks to the arm articulation the Pilot can do one or two handed poses with the blaster, the left hand cupping the barrel if required. While I cannot think of much else you could include with the Tie Pilot, I do wonder if there could have been an option to have the helmet removable? Articulation 4/5 Our Pilot has 16 points of articulation starting with the ball jointed head. While the piping stops the head rotating fully, the pipes are flexible enough to allow the Pilot to look right or left and there is some motion for tilting the helmet side to side. There is a torso joint built in under the chest unit, this has barely any movement other than allowing the torso to rotate. Arms are ball jointed shoulders with a single rotating elbow and pivot wrists. This is plenty for a pilot figure as he can bend and extend his arms as well as assuming the hands behind back pose while he waits for orders. The legs are jointed at the hip with a ball joint followed by a thigh split, double jointed knees and ankle rockers. Summary The Imperial Tie Fighter Pilot is a great addition to the Black Series, and to those who have a thing for Imperial Troops. There is little to fault with the figure, perhaps just the skinny legs which could do with being a baggier flight suit sculpt. The paint is crisply applied, as are the Imperial decals and while the weapon and holster and not screen accurate, they are nice to include - although I'd have preferred them to be made removable so I can decide on how to display. I score the Imperial Tie Fighter Pilot 4 out of 5.

Welcome to our review of the 6 inch Marvel Legends Elektra figure. Elektra, as seen in the 2nd season of Netflix Daredevil, was released in 2017 as part of the Marvel Knights wave of figures. She was packed alongside fellow Netflix characters Daredevil, Punisher and Jessica Jones. There were also comic book inclusions of Blade and Bullseye with a Man Thing BAF. Packaging 4/5 The packaging for Elektra, and the Netflix figures, is standard in terms of the black box and scooped sides. The artwork however was given a very dark red look with the side panels very atmospheric and dark to match the theme of the Netflix shows. Elektra is released under the Daredevil header as this is her as seen in Season 2 of Daredevil rather than he role in The Defenders that would follow (although that outfit would be cool too). On the back of the box is a posed image of the figure against a smoky red background, to the side of this is a short piece of text about Elektra. The checklist for the Man Thing BAF sits under this and the box ends with the various warnings and copyright information. "A wealthy heiress and a trained assassin, Elektra Natchios is a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock's past who unexpectedly returns to his life" Our review copy was a Far East import, hence the white oversticker. It also arrived damaged with the card flap folded over - a common gripe with many sellers and companies and one that must drive MIB collectors mad. Sculpt & Paint 3/5 Elektra arrives with her partially masked head attached. The is beautifully done with a realism to the eyes and with a mask that is sculpted to look like a tied stretched scarf. The hair is cleverly done with strands down either side of the face and then into a ponytail at the back. The costume is a little one dimensional after that head. It is predominantly cast in a black partially glossy plastic with the only paint apps being the red neck scarf section. The upper vest section is glossier than the lower stomach which is a shame. This whole piece should be a very dark grey with the red undershirt visible at the sleeves also. The legs are sculpted to include jean like detail with seams and pockets and there is the briefest of paint apps on the belt fastener. The boots are also sculpted but simply blend in as they are the same colour as the trousers. There is a bizarre decision to print a white serial number on her upper rear thigh. The arms are bare skin with no paint apps so do look a little glossy and plasticky vs the face tech printed head. The gloves are a mix of black and red. We do of course get an unmasked Elektra Natchios head, swapped out easily enough by popping off one head from the ball joint neck and snapping on a second. While this head is also face tech printed it is not a great likeness for actor Élodie Yung. The cheeks are not defined or high enough, and the look is very generic for a female character. This was of course early days for the face tech and Jessica Jones in the same wave has a similar non-descript likeness. Having seen what Hasbro are doing now with female likenesses like Black Widow and Gamora how great Elektra would look if she got a do-over. Articulation 4/5 Being a slim unencumbered figure really helps Elektra in the articulation stakes. Elektra has 16 points of articulation, down 3 on a male figure in the line. The head is ball jointed and on a pivot with full motion thanks to the flexible plastic used on the hair. There is also a torso ball joint to aid upper body rotation and leaning into and out of poses. Arms are ball jointed at the shoulder, but then just a single joint elbow that rotates. This can get to a 90 degree pose, but no further. Double joints would have been great here considering how athletic Elektra is. The arms finish with pivot wrist pegs that will rotate and bend, Leg joints are ball jointed at the hip, and these do give the hips a bit of a rounded look. Below these are the thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle rockers. All the joints are tight and Elektra stands and poses really well. Accessories 4/5 Elektra is armed with her twin Sai blades. These are cast in a softer plastic, grey in colour, which can warp as seen in the images. The grip is painted in a glossy black. The weapons, identical as they are, fit into either hand for posing. The right hand of Elektra is shaped differently with two bent and protruding fingers, this means the Sai on the right can also be held out from the hand in a stabbing motion which adds a little extra to the posing. And the Sai will fit and hold just as comfortably the other way round so the blades are pointing downward from the hands. Summary Elektra is a very good figure that does a good job of meeting the look she has on the show, without doing anything special. Yes a few paint apps and detailing on the costume would have been beneficial - but that is being picky when you consider this is a black clad assassin with a red neck scarf. The head still bugs me slightly as not being a spot on likeness, and I am happier when the masked head is on display (as I guess will be many others). Considering we are likely never to see another Elektra figure in her alternative Defenders outfit, then this is figure is one I recommend you track down. I score Elektra a 4 out of 5.
