We got our first glimpse at the Medicom MAFEX Newt Scamander at Tokyo Comic Con at the end of 2018, at that time it was an unpainted prototype. Roll forward to the Wonderfest Winter event in Tokyo and Medicom have a painted figure on display, complete with a Niffler and his famous suitcase. The figure is not yet confirmed as having a release date.

After buying the Power Rangers property outright, Hasbro will launch their first Power Ranger product in 2019. Announced via Screenrant, ahead of New York Toy Fair, the following details are for the budget $10/£10 figures. These will be in stores in Spring 2019 and are all take from the Beast Morphers show. We will see more at Toy Fair including, we hope, the more collector focused Lightning Collection 6 inch figures. Welcome to our review of the Marvel Legends 2017 release of Thor in his Gladiator gear from Thor, Ragnarok. Thor was part of the wave that contained parts to build the counterpart Hulk in Gladiator armour to face off against this figure of Thor. Also in the wave were Hela and Loki from Ragnarok as well as comic book figures of Lady Thor, Thor and Ares. The figure went on to get a repack in 2018 as a best of MCU wave where the three Ragnarok MCU figures were repacked with figures from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. Hulk remained the BAF but the parts were re-ordered with Thor moving from arriving with Hulk's head to coming with his Hammer. Packaging 5/5 The standard black Legends scooped box packaging was offset with a very visual electric blue colour scheme for the Ragnarok movie figures. The colour was used on the backing card insert as well as the character name plate. The side art, of Chris Hemsworth, was also adjusted to be presented in blue hue's only and looks fantastic. Round the back there is a blue glow to the figure image. To the side of the image is the usual brief few words about the figure. ""With his worthiness called into question, Thor must fight to preserve the legacy of Asgard and the godliness that he once claimed." Once opened the figure comes out in an inner tray that itself is sat into the electric blue card back tray. Thor is not strapped in place, and is held in by the tray shape itself. To the side of the figure sits his two swords and the Hulk BAF head and helmet. Paint & Sculpt 4/5 After a few attempts, it seems Ragnarok was the movie that saw Hasbro start to hit their stride with their Chris Hemsworth likeness. The face print technology was a big driver to this, but the sculpt and shape of the head is just as impressive. The face print gives better definition to the face with shading around the eyes and nose and more realistic eyes. Beards also seem to be much improved under face printing. The head is finished with the red striping Thor is given prior to entering The Grand Masters arena. The helmet, a nod to the original movie, is not removable. It looks great with blue hues to the panels and the rest of the helmet in silver. The plastic is a touch soft and the wings can arrive warped out of the box. The rest of the body is a pretty faithful representation of Thor's outfit for the arena battle with leather effect paneled armour, again decorated over the top with red painted symbols. The armour pieces on the left shoulder and right shin are a metallic blue like the helmet. The shin guard is clipped on so can be taken off or used on the other leg if needed. The cloak is tattered and hangs well having been plugged into a hole in the shoulder and again at the side. The earlier release of this Thor, as picked up for my son at the time, had an ill fitting cloak and a shoulder armour that popped off. So watch out for these if you end up with an earlier version. If you do not like the cloak it can be taken off, leaving Thor with a visible hole on his shoulder strap and another one less intrusive on his hip. All in all the figure is very well painted, particularly when you consider that red scrawl writing running the full length of the figure and down the legs and armour. The only area of criticism is the wrist straps where some of the inner strapping is not fully painted. The stature is also more realistic than previous Thor's which often had exaggerated torsos and slimmer waists. The figure stands 7 inches tall, so this keeps Thor taller than other MCU figures as you'd expect from as Asgardian Accessories 2/5 Despite the various options available that could and should have been packed with Thor, Hasbro made the decision to just include the pair of swords he initially wears on his back and uses later on in the battle with Hulk. Like my experience with the cape and armour - the earlier release we bought of Thor had very soft almost flexible swords, but the newer set I got for my collection (and this review) had a crisper and straighter set of blades. They are cast in a metallic blue colour plastic with sculpted lining within the blade. The handles are a brown colour painted over the blue. I say brown, but I am pretty sure it is trying to be a bronze colour. The swords fit snugly into either hand and with the articulation the figure has a wide range of poses available to it with the swords in play. Sadly when the swords are not being used Hasbro have not included the sheaths on Thor's back in which they are kept in the movie. This is disappointing. Also disappointing is the decision not to include the Shield and Mace that Thor starts the battle with - and the kit he is of course wearing for that icon "yes! he's a friend from work" scene. Articulation 5/5 Thor comes with the top range of movement with 19 points of articulation that starts with the head on a ball joint with a pivot allowing Thor to look round fully as well as looking up and down. The torso gets the t-joint ratchet joint to allow for an ab crunch, another crucial movement for posing Thor in an arena fighting stance. Below this to add the rotation is a simple rotating waist. The arms are ball jointed at the shoulder with a full range of movement on the right. The left is a little restricted by that armour piece - it does slide in between the cloak and shoulder as the arm raises, but still stops movement all the way to the top. Below the shoulder joint is a bicep swivel and the crucial double jointed elbows which work really well for the weapon posing. We finish with pivot wrist joints. The hip joints are also ball jointed and can swing out and to the side under that short skirt section which is a flexible rubber so not to restrict the legs too much. Hidden just under this skirt is a thigh swivel and we then get double jointed knees and a solid ratcheted ankle rocker. Thor stands perfectly well in a variety of poses. Summary Thor is a brilliant figure with a nice and vibrant colour scheme on the box, good sculpt and paint apps and excellent articulation. The downside is simply the accessories he didn't get, Hasbro leaving us a little short in recreating the arena scene with Hulk. Had we got the Mace and Shield then Thor would be pushing a 5 out of 5 score. As it stands he is a 4 out of 5 for me. See More Marvel MCU figures on our Marvel Legends page

In a pre-Toy Fair announcement, Hasbro have confirmed via StarWars.com the next wave of their 3.75 inch Galaxy of Adventures figures. This line is packed in a unique circular tube and includes a mini comic and a code to unlock online features, "Each pack contains one 3.75-inch scale Star Wars figure, a mini comic, and a code that can be activated with a smart device to unlock more stories online." Wave 1 is just hitting UK stores as we speak (checkout #OnThePegs) with Wave 2 due for a Spring release. The next six figures will be on display and Toy Fair and are Rey, Kylo Ren, Obi-Wan Kenobi (McGregor), Darth Maul, General Grievous and Boba Fett. RRP on these is circa £10.

Diamond Select Toys have released the packaging images for their first Select figures from the Kingdom Hearts III video game. Sora will come in his new outfit for the game and will be packed with Maleficent. Sora has his keyblade as an accessory while Maleficent has her staff and her raven, Diablo. To go with Sora, his companions Goofy and Donald 2-pack will be re-released.

Dropped into Home Bargains today for a look round, and to confirm the arrival of a new raft of Star Wars products. Up first is the Forcelink 2.0 5 pack of figures from Last Jedi, but in the yellow logo Solo packaging. The set contains Kylo Ren, Snowtrooper, Poe, Rey and a holograph Maz Kanata. At £8.99 for 6 figures it is a bargain! Also a bargain if you like Galaxy Heroes, or have a younger fan, are the two Creature packs for £5.99 each. The Dewback and Sandtrooper looks great, and the Rancor and Luke are even better. Back to 3.75 inch figures and the 2-packs from Last Jedi are now in situ for £3.99 each. This is the slightly older wave and they had Rey/Praetorian, Baze/Chirrut and Rose/BB8/BB9E. Single figures from The Last Jedi are also in stock at £1.99 each. Within these figures is the once elusive Cal Threnalli. Other Star Wars product included the ongoing 6 inch Black Series at £5.99. They may have had a restock on these as I've not seen the likes of Krennic or Cassian for a while and I have seen people report finding the Baze and Chirrut wave. The Forces of Destiny figures remain at a clearance price of £5.99 each. The store I visited had Padme, Leia & R2 and Rey & BB8. There was also extensive stock of the Tesco 6 pack of 12 inch hero figures for £19.99 The only non-Star Wars product I found of interest were the Mattel 3.75 inch Jurassic World figures at £3.49 each. They did only have Wheatley and the Lockwood Battle Owen Grady.

Dropped into an Asda today to look at the Toy reset going on. One new item that caught my eye was those new Star Wars 3.75 inch repacked figures in a tube which had turned up on the base of one of the new layouts alongside the 12 inch hero figures. Labelled as "SW, Story in a Box" rather than their official "Galaxy of Adventures" title, they were priced at £10.97 which is hefty for what they are and considering there is no forcelink technology in these. They do come with a comic book appropriate to each figure. All 6 seemed to be present on the Asda shelf - Chewbacca, R2-D2, Darth Vader, Yoda, Princess Leia and the Stormtrooper. NECA have released more images of their first Karate Kid 8 inch set coming in Summer 2019. The All Valley Tournament 2-Pack will contain Daniel and Johnny in their competition gear. The set includes a tournament mat, replica scaled poster and the trophy. The set is due for a 3rd quarter release, NECA are hoping for July prior to SDCC. The figures will be presented in a window box. "From The #KarateKid, the iconic ‘80s film that sent a generation of kids rushing to enroll in karate classes! The next collaboration between Shout Factory and NECA has been confirmed as this special release of the classic 1986 horror movie, Night of the Creeps. The deluxe edition of the Blu-ray release will include an 8 inch scale NECA figure of Detective Ray Cameron. The figure will include sculpted head likeness of actor Tom Atkins and real soft goods tailored clothes, including his trenchcoat. He will come armed with a shotgun. Sadly, like any Shout Factory release, the set is only being sold in the US and Canada. It will be released on May 28th and US/Canadian collectors can pre-order now for $69.99 (USD). Welcome to our review of the 2017 release of the 10th Doctor in his Tuxedo, as seen in The Voyage of the Damned, the 2007 Christmas Special of Doctor Who. This new version of the 10th Doctor was released as part of a three figure wave that also contained two versions of the current 12th Doctor. It was meant to go to Toys R Us stores, but ended up in Forbidden Planet stores following the demise of Toys R Us. Packaging 4/5 The Doctor arrives in the window box packaging adopted for Toys R Us in 2016 when the 5.5 inch figure line made a return to retail. The colouring is a blue hue with shades of purple and starlight under the Doctor Who logo and the character name plate which reads "The Tenth Doctor in Tuxedo" As always we are reminded that this is a 5.5 inch collector figure (not 5 inch) with the diamond insert to the side of the figure. Round one side the window wraps round and you find a QR code for some added online content. To the other side is another Doctor Who logo and a repeat of the character name and the same 5.5 inch scale confirmation. Our version of the Doctor was purchases from Forbidden Planet and there is some overstickers in place over what we assume would be Toys R Us specific info. The back of the box changes to more of a starscape with an image of the actual figure and some blurb about the Doctor and the episode on which the figure is based. "THE TENTH DOCTOR 2005-2009 The Tenth Doctor has a bright, sparky personality, yet he rarely gives his foes a second chance. Leaping back into the TARDIS with a series of extraordinary companions, the Doctor fights numerous foes and enjoys many adventures before his violent regeneration destroys the TARDIS control room, sending it crashing back to Earth... VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED Set immediately after Time Crash, the Tenth Doctor, now travelling alone, finds himself at a Christmas party aboard the luxury space liner the Titanic. This is a Christmas-themed cruise with a difference. The Captain purposely lowers the Titanic's shields resulting in catastrophic damage to the ship. Joined by a new friend called Astrid and several passengers, the Doctor must battle killer robot Angels and prevent the Titanic from crashing into the Earth" That is quite a lot of text for the back of one figure box, but Character don't stop there and also include the iconic speech from The Voyage of the Damned. "I am the Doctor. I'm a Time Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous, I'm nine hundred and three years old And I'm the man that's going to save your lives and all six billion people on the planet below. You got a problem with that?" The box opens via the top or bottom box flap. The Doctor slides out in an inner clear tray that itself sits into a blue clockwork design cardboard insert. The Doctor is securely strapped in place with cotton ties that are a real pain to untie - I'd suggest cutting with scissors. His sonic screwdriver sits to the side and is held in by a piece of tape. Paint & Sculpt 4/5 This is a brand new David Tennant head sculpt and is a better likeness to the one used for so many years across the Doctor Who line - but perhaps not as crisp as the short lived one we saw with the glasses toward the end of the line. The paint apps are basic with the head cast in skin tone and then eyes, lips and eyebrows painted on in a basic fashion - no photo realism with this line. The hair is well executed with some volume and there is a touch of a wash in the brown to bring out more details. The rest of the body is essentially a black suit. It is good to see this looks to be a new sculpt too, I had suspected a re-use from a Master figure or similar. The white shirt underneath is clean and crisp and then the bow tie is painted on top. Sadly the paint has not covered the full bow tie so it looks a little odd from some angles. The Doctor is wearing his trademark Converse trainers, changed to black and white for this episode from the usual blue or red versions. These are painted well with the lace detail coloured in and a thin red stripe down either sole. The hands are re-used and are the basic "screwdriver" holding hand from the prior 10th Doctor release and a generic open palm to the other side. Accessories 3/5 The sonic screwdriver included looks to be a new version too. This version looks to be the closed version of the screwdriver, while previous releases have had the screwdriver extended. It is cast in a softer plastic, and despite this and its size it does have visible detail and is then painted with black base, silver body, grey handle and blue emitter - that is a lot of paint for something less than 1.5cm long. The screwdriver fits perfectly in the shaped right hand. The nature of the hand allows the figure to be posed with the screwdriver pointed out or raised, depending on the arm position. While I am probably being greedy and accessories have never been extensive in the Who line, this figure feels a bit light considering the various things the Doctor used in the episode. It would have been great to get a repack of the lifering from Astrid, or perhaps even a steering wheel for the Titanic itself. Articulation 3/5 Our Doctor has 12 points of articulation, a standard for the line since it started. Being a new sculpt he does get one upgrade with the shoulder joint now being two way so it can extend outward from the body as well as rotating. The rest of the arm remains consistent then with a bicep swivel, single joint elbow and plugged wrist which allows the hand to rotate. The figure suffers from the usual arm issue where the arm sculpt is flat and turning the bicep joint makes the arm look wrong. The bicep joint is also really weak, like so many recent releases, and pops out far too easily when you turn the joint. The headson the Who line still have not moved onto ball joints, so the Doctor can only rotate the whole of his head and neck piece where it plugs into the torso. Beneath the Tux there is a simple rotating waist to give a little bit of variation to the stance. The legs are very basic with a t-joint hip and single joint knee. Without any ankle rocker or the ability to rotate the leg you are let with neutral stances only. In this position the Doctor stands perfectly well. Summary With all the Who figures, I score on the basis that these are essentially £10-£12 figures and not the £20+ figures we see from Hasbro and NECA. To that end this is a perfectly good release of a Doctor variant fans have been asking for and a welcome change against all those suited / coated 10th Doctor's we've had over the years. The execution of the figure is good for the price point, but remains a little dated to some of the more modern lines in terms of articulation and paint techniques. Those bicep joints remain a concern as they leave a visible gap in the figure and pop apart far too easily - a sign of perhaps a change in the line to cheaper plastic to keep costs down?
