In the US, Gamestop have confirmed another Marvel Legends 80th Anniversary release with this poster - the 2nd of their weekly reveals. The figure, Big Time Spider-Man, is not exclusive to Gamestop who only had the opportunity of revealing the figure and opening up pre-orders earlier than the other retailers who will carry this. While this may not be the Spider-Man every collector wanted, it is good to see that Spidey will be represented in the 80th Anniversary releases when they arrive later this year.

Hasbro Pulse have announced the 2nd wave of Avengers Marvel Legends figures with pre-orders opening today (10th May 2019) for delivery later in the Summer. The wave contains seven figures, five of which had already been revealed - Loki, Beta Rey Bill, Rock Python and Union Jack from the comics, and Shuri from the MCU. The other two slots are Endgame figures of Pepper Potts Rescue and War Machine. The BAF for the wave is a brand new Endgame Hulk. Hulk will come with two head options, both packed with Beta Rey Bill. War Machine will not include any BAF parts. While War Machine and Rescue are packaged as Endgame figures (albeit without the word Endgame in the logo as seen with wave 1), Shuri is packed in Black Panther packaging. General Grievous, as seen in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, was the third "deluxe" release by Hasbro in their Star Wars Black Series 6 inch scale line - following on from the Gamorrean Guard and Moloch. Grievous is the first deluxe to be a general release, and he signals the start of the D numbering system for deluxe releases. Packaging 5/5 Being an oversized deluxe release, Grievous comes in an enlarged version of the phase 3 black series packaging. Whie the design features and colours remain the same the box is both wider and deeper than a standard Black Series release. The Titus artwork is particularly striking on this release and makes the General appear very menacing with his cloak trailing out to the side. Grievous signals the first time a deluxe release has been numbered, with the Gamorrean and Moloch that preceded him being exclusives. Grievous is numbered as D1 on the red spine, indicating more deluxe releases are planned. "General Grievous was a brilliant Separatist military strategist and feared Jedi hunter, known for his ruthlessness and hacking cough. His body itself was a weapon, allowing him lightning quick strikes and devastating blows. But he was also quick to run from a fight, a tactic that worked until one final meeting with Obi-Wan Kenobi." Paint & Sculpt 4/5 The head sculpt on Grievous, up close, is impressive with some excellent decor applied under the head to detail those organic red and yellow bloodshot eyes. The body is also well executed with the dark grey mechanism of the body contrasting with the beige panels of the armour. Several panels are weathered with some dry brush additions to dirty up the General. While there was criticism of Grievous being too short, he is a good inch taller than a standard 6 inch figure and for me does not look significantly under or over scaled. Grievous is listed as being 2.2m tall, which converts to 18.3cm at 1/12 scale. The figure, at full height is pretty much exactly that height. Again this may be a case of a characters perceived height and build vs the recorded specs. The soft goods cloak supplied with Grievous works OK. It is a little too heavy and therefore doesn't scale as well as perhaps a sculpted rubberised version would. It is nicely tailored with red lining but the neck clasp piece is a lot larger than what we see on screen and it doesn't wrap under the nec pieces of the armour. Accessories Grievous is armed with a blaster and a collection of light sabers. The blaster is a new sculpt to the line and is cast in grey plastic with no other paint apps. While it fits in his right hand, the fit is not snug with the hands designed more to hold the light sabers. Each of the four sabers is a different design and each are painted slighly differently using either black or gold (or both) colours. We have two green bladess and two blue blades. Each blade is meant to be removable, but I had significant trouble with two of the four with the blades refusing to release. Grievous is designed to hold a saber in each of his four hands, and here the grip is fine and each saber sits in place well. When not in use the hilts (assuming you can remove the blades) fit in four tailored pouches in the inside of his cape. Articulation 3/5 Grievous, due to his build and design, does not comply with the usual set of articulation we see on a Black Series character. In essence he comes in with a count of 19 articulation points, but many are very different joints to what we are used to Head : Ball joint head and jointed neck Body : Waist swivel Arms : Shoulder Joint x 4 (one for each arm), single elbow joint x 4 Legs : Hip joint, double jointed knee, shin pivot and ankle rotation While you can't get him into his crab mode where he runs away, there is plenty of movement in the joints, although they do feel very fragile and none of the joints are ratcheted so do also feel loose. The arms are designed to work in isolation, or each "pair" can be joined to make a full arm. This is not too difficult to achieve once the two sides are lined up. Once joined the articulation is reduced as the shoulder and elbows now have to work together and therefore lose some movement where they now work against each other. Stability is the big issue for Grievous and for most of our review we had to use a stand to keep him upright. The body is so slim and light and the joints too loose that keeping him stood is hard, especially when the heavy cloak is in place. Hasbro may have wanted to consider including a stand. When a stand is in play there are some great poses you can achieve, my favourite being his hunched over walk with hands behind his back as he stalks the bridge of his ship. Summary General Grievous is another fantastic looking prequel release, ready to take command of the recently released Battle Droid figures. Hasbro have been very faithful to the design of the droid, with some nifty engineering to give us the options of having a two armed or four armed Grievous. This does means some sacrifices have been made, particularly his stability The cloak works to a degree, but feels out of scale with the figure - especially with that huge clasp piece. The sabers are also disappointing with the faults in removing the blades which means I can't display all four hilts in Grievous' cloak. Grievous is also a figure that wildy varies in price. For me this is a £25 - £27 figure, and nothing more and I would urge patience to get this figure at the right price. At this sub £30 price this is a solid 3/5 release and reflects some good value for money. At the £40+ price people were paying initially I can see why many were overly disappointed. Hasbro have released promotional images of their first 80 Years of Marvel Legend figure. These are due later in the year. We assume this set is the first batch of releases and includes The Grandmaster & Korg from the MCU, as well as classic versions of Iron-Man, Captain America, Thor, a Wolverine & Hulk 2-pack and the Colossus & Juggernaut 2-pack. The other releases announced for the 80 year line are most likely a 2nd phase of releases later in the year - MCU Cap & Peggy, MCU Hela & The Executioner, MCU Iron-Spider & Mk50 Iron-Man and MCU Ghost & Luis

Black Panther, Vibranium Armour, was part of the 2019 Black Panther wave of MCU Marvel Legends figures - often referred to as the M'Baku wave, named after the build-a-figure for the 6 figure wave. Packaging 4/5 While part of the Black Panther 2nd wave of figures, the Vibranium Armour Black Panther is actually badged as an Avengers Infinity War figure, recognising the bigger part the Vibranium Amour plays in that movie. The rest of the box art remains the same as the other Black Panther releases. "With the safety of Earth threatened by the powerful titan, Thanos, Black Panther joins forces with the Avengers to protect the world from certain destruction" The figure is titled Black Panther, with no subtitle or additional wording to explain the Vibranium Armour. That could cause confusion with the other Black Panther figure in the line which looks very similar and comes with the same unmasked head. Paint & Sculpt 3/5 This is the same figure released in the first wave of Black Panther figures, but it now has the vibrant purple lines added to represent the Vibranium powered suit as it stores the kinetic energy it absorbs. The purple paint look sa little dull initially, but it comes alive under lights as it has a metallic element to it that really shines. While the purple paint does work, the silver retains the same issues as other Black Panther figures where it is a little messy in places and either doesn't quite cover the sculpted detail on the neck piece or round the wrists - or it spills onto the black. While the head escapes fairly unscathed with paint errors, the clawed toes on my review figure are not great with a line of silver straight across them on one foot, while the other is painted on individual claws. The figure comes with the same Chadwick Boseman head as the other Black Panther in the line This is the new sculpt for Boseman with a more pronounced beard and an odd look sculpted into the head. This expression seems to be more or less pronounced depending on the face printing positioning with my other Black Panther looking like he is smirking more than the Vibranium Armoured version. Like the other version the eyes are particularly poorly done and hark back to a time when the Legends heads were all painted by hand. Accessories N/A If you discount the heads, this Black Panther comes with no other accessories, not even alternative hands which do exist for the sculpt but have not been included. Articulation 5/5 Black Panther boasts an impressive 21 points of articulation, two more than the usual male buck with the addition of the butterfly shoulder joints. Head - ball joint with pivot Body - torso T-joint, waist swivel Arms - butterfly shoulders, ball joint shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, pivot wrist Legs - ball joint hips, thigh swivel, single joint knee, ankle rocker Black Panther is uber articulated, especially as he is such a slim figure and unencumbered by any armour, capes or cloaks. The joints do however already feel a touch loose around the torso and hips and this may be a figure that will have longer term issues with stability. Summary While I am not sure we needed a new Black Panther so soon, this figure does allow collectors to add a T'Challa to their Infinity War display while maintaining the original 2018 figure (or vice versa) with the rest of the Black Panther figures. The vibranium charged paintwork does work and looks great when spotlit. Sadly the paint issues with the silver parts of the figure remain - the same issues we saw on both the 2016 Civil War version and last years variant of this figure. I am also not sold on the head which is not the best showcase of face print technology. With excellent articulation, this figure is above average but scores a 3 out of 5 when we take into account the paint issues and the execution of that unmasked head. Lanco Calrissian, in his Jabba's Palace Skiff Guard disguise, was released in 2018 as part of Wave 19 of the Star Wars Black Series. Lando was a 3rd phase release in the red line packaging and was number 76 in the line. Packaging 4/5 Lando's packaging, the phase 3 red spine box, remains unchanged for wave 19. Lando is number 76 in the 3rd phase packaging and is named full as Lando Calrissian, with the Skiff Guard text i brackets underneath. The illustration is very reminiscent of some of the looks Lando shoots his fellow heroes in the Jabba's palace scenes. "Once a smooth-talking smuggler, Lando Calrissian changed from a get-rich-quick schemer to a selfless leader in the fight against the Empire. When his old friend Han was held captive in the palace of Jabba the Hutt, Lando joined Princess Leia in a mission to rescue him from certain demise." Paint & Sculpt 4/5 This is the 2nd Billy Dee Williams sculpt in the Black Series and now uses the face print technology to capture a much better likeness than the first Cloud City release. The skin does look a little waxy, and the hair a little one dimensional being a single colour with no paint apps. The costume is a pretty decent replication of the on screen outfit, with ornate metallic panels on the chest and shoulders. The skirt section is weathered really well to give a worn leather look - but everything else is left a single base colour. This does make the trousers in particular look a little bit too clean and bright. Accessories 4/5 The Skiff Guard helmet is cast in a softer plastic and is a good fit over the head, albeit a little difficult to get the strap positioned around the chin area. With some tweaking the look can be achieved and you can then see Lando's eyes peering out from the "mouth" of the helmet. The other accessory is the Vibro axe. This is cast in a grey plastic with no paint apps. Detail is soft in places, particularly around the blade - but in others quite crisp. It fits into either hand and can be held in a two handed grip. Articulation 4/6 Articulation is very much standard on Lando for the Black Series line, with 16 points of articulation in total. Head - ball joint with pivot Body - mid-torso ball joint Arms - ball joint shoulders, single jointed elbows, pivot wrist Legs - ball joint hips, thigh swivel, single joint knee, ankle rocker There are no obvious issues with the joints. All are tight and can move sufficiently to support a number of poses, including some action stances with the Vibro axe. The ankle rockers are tight and Lando stands perfectly well on his own. Summary Lando Skiff Guard is a much improved likeness on the previous Original Trilogy Lando and this new head and face print technology should also give us the Lando as Rebel General at some point in the future. The Skiff Guard outfit is well sculpted, if a little clean in the decor. The helmet, which is make or break on a figure like this, works well without looking oversize. The only real issue is, like usual, the bland plastic looking weapon that is a wash away from looking far more impressive. All things considered, Lando Skiff Guard is a solid release and I score it 4 out of 5. Visit our Star Wars Black Series Homepage

Medicom have released details of their MAFEX 1/12 Homecoming Spider-Man version 1.5 figure. The figure is due for a January 2020 release. This tweak of the original Homecoming Spider-Man now looks to include an Instant Kill Mode head option. Other lens options are also still included for the masked head, and you also get a Tom Holland head and a mask for him to hold if you display him unmasked. The usual spider webbing accessories will also be included.

McFarlane have released images and details of their next four Fortnite 7 inch figure releases. This new batch includes A.I.M. as well as Ragnarok and Red & Black versions of Wildcard. M'Baku was the build-a-figure (BAF) from the 2019 Marvel Legends Black Panther wave 2. To build Man Ape you had to purchase all 6 MCU figures from the wave. Assembly 4/5 Assembly of M'Baku is straightforward as always with the parts collected from all 6 figures. The trickiest element is the legs which are not overly easy to slot into the thighs with the skirt impeding your view of the operation. Paint & Sculpt 5+/5 The 2019 Black Panther wave has given us some of the best MCU face sculpts so far in the Marvel Legends line, and M'Baku is another sculpt and face print of high quality with an excellent likeness to Winston Duke. The hair piece is a separate piece and is glued in place over the sculpted head and that does leave a very slightly visible gap around the hairline. The tribal outfit is spectacular with a variety of sculpted detail of fur, leather and other materials. Each element is well painted, with washes and dry brushing applications used to bring out the sculpted detail. It is also great to see Hasbro have maintained a good scale with M'Baku, sculpting him half a head taller than Black Panther. Accessories 3/5 M'Baku comes with a single accessory, his staff. This is cast in a glossy brown plastic and has no further paint application on it. This does leave it looking slightly at odds with the depth of paint apps on the rest of the figure. It fits in either hand, and can also be held in two handed poses. Articulation 4/5 While he may be a bulkier character and a build a figure, M'Baku is still presented with a good level of articulation - 18 points in total. Head - ball joint with pivot Body - mid-torso ball joint Arms - ball joint shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, pivot wrist Legs - ball joint hips, thigh swivel, single joint knee, ankle rocker The legs are restricted behind the large skirt area so can't really do much. The arm are much more mobile and can be raised or turned to brandishing his staff ready to lead the Jabari into battle. Summary While not a traditional Build-a-figure, M'Baku is an absolute triumph and in many ways upstages all the other figures in the wave - even the impressive Klaue & Killmonger sculpts. Everything is well executed and well painted, with the only minor gripes as the hairline and the staff. If you want a centrepoint for a Black Panther or Infinity War display then M'Baku is your man - ready to lead his forces into battle. I score him a 5 out of 5. NECA have shared images of the packaging for their 7 inch scaled Pennywise accessory set. The set will be released later in May 2019.

Talos the Skrull was released in early 2019 as part of the wider Captain Marvel wave of 6 inch Marvel Legend action figures. Talos was part of a 7 figure wave made up of characters from the Captain Marvel movie, and some associated comic book figures. The wave contained parts for a Build-a-Figure, allowing collectors to build a Kree Sentry figure. nb our review figure was purchased without the BAF part Packaging 4/5 The packaging for Talos remains consistent with the usual scooped sides box for Marvel Legends. It uses a yellow exploding backdrop for the figure and a similar gold/yellow strip for the character name. As per the 2019 releases the picture of the figure on the back of the box has been dropped with an image based on the movie used instead. "Talos, perhaps the most cunning spy in the Skrull Empire, is a master of shapeshifting and intergalactic espionage. An integral leader in the bitter Kree-Skrull War, the fearsome Talos will do whatever it takes to protect his own." Paint & Sculpt 4/5 While it is difficult to say Talos uses face print technology, the head sculpt is impressive particularly the eyes which hold a real intensity. The costume is complex up close with various swirling and sweeping lines and intersecting purple painted patches - all of which are neat and well done. Outside of the base colours there are no paint apps or washes on the costume. The only other colour in use is the silver around a purple shoulder guard on Talos' left arm. Accessories N/A Talos does not come with any accessories. This is a little disappointing considering the various items he could have been packed with from the movie - including the Skrull weaponry. Articulation 4/5 Talos has an 18 point articulation count. The only missing joint vs the majority of Marvel Legend male figures is the Torso joint. Head - ball joint with pivot Body - waist swivel Arms - ball joint shoulder, bicep swivel, double jointed elbow, wrist pivot Legs - ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, ankle rocker Talos has a wide range of movement and posing options from these joints. The arms are particularly mobile with the elbow allowing the forearm to fold back on the upper arm. The legs are a little restricted behind the lower rubber skirt. Ankle rockers are tight and Talos stands perfectly fine without the aid of a stand. The only missing joint vs usual figures is the Torso joint. Summary While the Skrull's may not have quite been the bad guys we were expecting, it is great to get at least one of them into the MCU Marvel Legend collection. Hopefully in the future we will see a few more, potentially with swap out head options for their disguises. Talos is a great figure, let down only by a lack of accessories and perhaps a wash of paint to bring out all that sculpted costume detail. I score him a solid 4 out of 5. It seems there may be more Marvel Legend 80th Anniversary releases than initially announced. This promotional poster for Gamestop in the US shows us a comic book Wolverine Legend figure alongside the 80th Anniversary logo, along with the promise of more "pre-order reveals each week", although it doesn't specifically state Marvel Legend figures. edit. see updated news on this figure
