Full details have been released for the SH Figuarts "Final Battle" Captain Marvel figure, along with a gallery of images. Carol Danvers will arrive a couple of months after the other figures in June 2020 and the images presented are not 100% final as they go through licensor approval. Carol looks, at this stage, to come only with an unmasked head. The costume is update to the Endgame version complete with waist sash. Energy FX pieces are supplied to clip to her hands for a powered effect. There are also wrap around pieces they are calling "energy aura" effects which look pretty great. The figure will also include the usual variant hand options and a display stand. We do not think the Nano Gauntlet shown in the images will be included. This looks to be the one included with the Iron-Spider release. Also announced are Captain America, Iron-Man, Rescue and the Final Battle Iron-Spider.

McFarlane Toys, and specifically their My Hero Academia Katsuki Bakugo figure, has been shortlisted for the 2020 Toy of the Year Award in the US. Over in Japan, at the Miyazawa Model Autumn Exhibition 2019, a number of new figures have been revealed by the main Japanese Toy Companies. It seems the Winnie the Pooh Revoltech figure from Kaiyodo will be joined by Tigger and Piglet at some stage in the future. Tigger has a number of alternative facial expressions and hand options. Piglet looks less articulated and the way they are displayed indicates they will be released together.

Diamond Select Toys have revealed their brand new Iron Giant Select Action figure via Comingsoon.net The articulated Iron Giant stands 9 inches tall, and comes complete with a scaled Hogarth Hughes to sit on his shoulder. NECA have shared the packaged images for their 8 inch figures from cult movie, They Live. The figures use an articulated sculpted body with tailored soft good clothing. They come with a TV accessory as well as a magazine and a newspaper. The set is due to release in December 2019.

In 2015, Hasbro launched a budget range of Star Wars figures to create merchandise for discount stores for The Force Awakens. The line was made up of figures made to a 6 inch height and not scale - meaning regardless of character, they were all the same size. The figures were hollow hard plastic with average but neat paint jobs and between 3 and 5 points of basic articulation. 2015 saw releases of The First Order Stormtrooper, Snowtrooper, Kylo Ren, Finn and Darth Vader. In 2016 the line was expanded to Darth Maul, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Kanan Jarus and a Deathtrooper - Rey got a re-release. 2017 saw the addtion of a pretty impressive C-3PO as well as Captain Phasma - Rey was once again re-released as was the First Order Stormtrooper. In 2019 we have another batch of these to look forward to at UK discount retailer Lidl. The majority of the 2019 offerings are repacks - but there looks to be a brand new Chewbacca figure this time round, with the dual bandoleer he wore in Solo. The figures will be in Lidl stores from the 21st of November priced at £4.99 each. As yet we don't know if the packaging will be updated for 2019 or use one of the previous designs. Following on from the work they did in 2018, Hasbro has confirmed they will take product reveals and exclusives around the various worldwide comic conventions in 2019 - revealing new figures at some for their main properties. Notably this would be for Star Wars and Marvel, but we could see further reveals across Power Rangers, Overwatch and Transformers. Before The Clone Wars, there was Clone Wars - an animated series of short episodes drawn and developed by Genndy Tartakovsky. They were based in the same era of the Clone Wars as the subsequent longer running series headed by Dave Filoni. One of the iconic images from the show was Obi-Wan Kenobi garbed in Clone Armour and leading his troops to battle. Roll forward 16 years and the Hasbro team have developed this into a new Black Series Exclusive figure, the first from the Tartakovsky series. Packaging 4/5 Clone Commander Obi-Wan sits in the phase 3 packaging with black box, red card back and right hand side spine. As an exclusive their is no numbering system, and the figure has arguably one of the longest titles with Clone Commander Obi-Wan Kenobi which itself is then underscored with a French translation underneath. The figure is exclusive to Walgreens in the US, but is a shared worldwide exclusive. Our figure was imported, hence comes with the Far East over sticker on the reverse of the packaging. On the back of the card is a short piece of background text which is quite wide ranging in terms of Obi-Wan's history in the Star Wars saga. "A legendary Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi was a noble man and gifted in the ways of the Force. He trained Anakin Skywalker, served as a general in the Republic Army during the Clone Wars, and guided Luke Skywalker as a mentor." Paint & Sculpt 4/5 The figure brings us a brand new, and hugely improved Revenge of the Sith era Ewan McGregor head sculpt. The hair is longer and combed with a side parting and the beard full and bushy. The face uses print technology with the eyes being the key part as they peer out intensely under his fringe. After the head sculpt, the body is a direct re-use of the original 2014 Clone Trooper body. The Clone Trooper has been the most reused Star Wars figure to date in the Black Series, spawning a number of varieties. This Obi-Wan version tweaks the base figure slightly with the addition of two roundels on the chest piece that hold in the soft goods robes. The robes are also tucked into the belt sculpt to hold them in place. There is a disappointment with the re-use of the figure and that is the fact that Hasbro have not altered the right hand. This remains sculpted as a trigger finger and looks particularly odd when holding a lightsaber as we will see shortly. The soft goods are OK, and are thin enough to flow naturally. There is a pattern within them that does stand out a little, and they are also a touch glossy under lights. Accessories 3/5 For 2019, and only in certain Exclusive figures, Hasbro added a clear triangular stand to the Black Series. The stand is substantial and includes an imprinted Star Wars Black Series logo. Rather than use traditional foot pegs, the stand has a shaped section into which you slide one of the figures feet. This fit is not overly tight for the Clone Trooper boots but will hold Obi-Wan in place. Obi-Wan also comes with his lightsaber. This is the same sculpt as the previous saber used on the original Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan, although the paint job is sadly not as good. It is cast in a light grey and parts of the saber are left in this base colour and not painted metallic silver as they were on the original release. You do get a couple of black panels and gold around the base of the blade emitter. The saber fits in either hand, but as mentioned the right hand still has the Clone Trooper trigger finger so can look a little odd. While they have not adjusted the hand, Hasbro have tweaked the Clone Trooper belt to include a small hole into which a peg on the side of the saber sits to hang it from Obi-Wan's belt. Like the stand, the fit is not very tight and the saber will drop out easily without much movement. Articulation 3/5 By sharing the original 2014 Clone Trooper body, the figure does carry the same level of articulation - and the same issues. The earlier trooper bodies in the series did include double jointed elbows. This sounds great on paper, but in reality a segment in the joint blocks anything more than a 90 degree bend and will stop double handed saber poses. Head : ball joint pivot neck Body : torso ball joint Arms : ball joint shoulders, bicep swivel, double joint elbow, pivot wrist Legs : ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double joint knee, ankle rocker Like the original figure the arms are also restricted by the large shoulder armour panels which stop the arms being raised once they hit the chest armour. Hasbro have also neglected to update the elbows to the ones used on Captain Rex. The Rex joints make much more use of the double joint elbows and can give a much wider range of motion. It seems odd that such a change could not be made for all Clone Trooper based figures after Rex? Likewise, the top of the leg armour blocks a lot of the leg movement. This is where the inclusion of the stand does add value as the foot holder and shape of the stand does allow for some dynamic posing with the legs such as running or striking forward poses. The stand is robust enough to hold these in place. During all poses the robes hold in place and flow naturally round the body which is a big step forward to earlier soft goods which could look a little stiff when the figure was posed. Summary Regardless of the source material, this is a great figure and a good exclusive format using an existing body and developing a couple of new parts. I would hope that head sculpt gets a repack onto the original or even a new Obi-Wan body - perhaps in the Archive collection? There are a few articulation issues, and the pinky finger on the right hand is a bit annoying, but if you are a fan of the prequels and the Clone Wars era then I would go out and grab this figure while you can. The Purge Stormtrooper is the 3rd figure to be released from the Jedi Fallen Order video game. He follows the general releases of Cal Kestis and the Second Sister who were released on Triple Force Friday. The Purge Trooper is an exclusive, so is not numbered. In the US he is exclusive to Gamestop and is the figure that fans who pre-ordered the game will get in their bundle. In the UK he is a shared fan channel exclusive. Packaging 5/5 The Purge Stormtrooper comes in the Phase 3 packaging so has a black base box with red side spine. As it is a videogame release the video game logo is added o the front of the box at the bottom right. And as an exclusive, and following suit with previous Battlefront figures a splash of red colour is inserted into the Gregory Titus artwork of the Purge Trooper. This artwork is blown up and is mean and menacing on the reverse along with a short, non spoilery, piece of background text. There is a big glaring issue with this reverse text, instead of being repeated in 3 other languages - the box simply repeats the same text over and over again in English. "Handpicked from the Stormtrooper Legions for their aptitude and loyalty, purge troopers accompany Inquisitors on especially dangerous missions. These troopers receive additional training to make them a cohesive unit, formidable against any Jedi threat." Paint & Sculpt 4/5 The Purge Trooper brings us a brand new trooper helmet in the shape of the Clone Wars Airborne Trooper. The design on this is excellent and it looks so menacing in black. The piece is cast in gloss black plastic and it is so reflective. The visors is coloured a deep red and there are red trim and silver panels around the breather. Brilliant! The body is a re-use of the original Clone Trooper body, all now cast in black plastic. The Pauldron is from the Sand Trooper, but the skirt is new and is not the same as the one used on Captain Rex. The soft goods do allow a lot of posing options, but out of the box there are already some fraying areas around the edge. The body carries a number of decals to create contrast to the black. This includes a red Imperial logo on each shoulder as well as white chevrons on each forearm, and one on the thighs. The belt has been tweaked from the original Clone Troopers and now has a silver buckle hanging down and two red strips running off around either side. Not sure on their purpose? The red trim on the figures decals and Pauldron appear to be a rank of some kind, images from Fallen Order also show different Purge Trooper colour variations. Accessories 4/5 Our Purge Trooper gets the same weapons as a Clone Trooper, a DC-15S blaster and a DC-15A blaster rifle. Both are the same cast piece as the original Clone Trooper releases and are cast in a grey plastic. The smaller DC-15S has not paint apps, the larger Blaster Rifle has some silver paint added to the underside sights. Both weapons fit comfortably in the figures hands, and with the double jointed elbows two handed poses are possible. There is no holster for the smaller weapon, and this seems a miss as the Troopers in the game look to have these on their right hip. I am also a bit disappointed that the Force Pike we see in the early trailer is not included. Articulation 4/5 By using the Clone Trooper body, our Purge Stormtrooper arrives with the same 18 points of articulation, two more than a normal release thanks to those double jointed elbows and the supporting bicep swivel. Head : ball joint pivot neck Body : torso ball joint Arms : ball joint shoulder, bicep swivel, double joint elbows, wrist pivot Legs : ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double joint knees, ankle rockers The top half is pretty poseable with two handed weapon poses - both slung and firing - available. The torso joint works well to add some movement to the main trunk and can lean the Trooper forward and backwards. The restriction remains in the shoulders which cannot raise as the large shoulder armour piece clashes with the chest armour. They have also neglected to update the Purge Trooper with the new Clone elbow joints as used on Captain Rex. While the elbows still bend to 90 degrees, the updated version utilise the double elbow joint for a much wider fold inwards. The legs are a bit held in check by the thigh armour - an issue with all Clone Troopers to date - but there is still enough there to get some wider stances and action shots. One thing definitely improved is the ankle rockers which are stiff and secure - earlier Clone bodies did suffer from falling over thanks to weaker ankles. Summary The Purge Stormtrooper is an exceptional figure. It represents a transition era between Clones and the Original Trilogy Stormtroopers and therefore the re-use parts are acceptable. The paint, where it is applied, is very well done and I love the decals and chevrons. The weapons work, but it is a bit disappointing a Force Pike isn't included. The figure gets all the benefits of the original Clone Trooper body with the double jointed elbows, but also the restrictive shoulders and hips thanks to the shaping of the armour. The one issue I do have with the figure is it being chosen as an exclusive. It sold out within days here in the UK and I for one would like one or two more for my display. I do hope that variants of the Trooper are released, either generally or as further exclusives. I also hope (and would assume) that the availability now of an Airborne Trooper helmet means that the original Clone Wars Troopers can be released.
