Heimdall is a brand new addition to the Marvel Legends MCU line - a character never before immortalised in plastic despite his numerous appearances in the MCU from the original Thor movie right through to Infinity War. Heimdall is part of the 3rd Avengers wave of 2019, a wave made up entirely of MCU characters and with an Endgame Thor as the Build-a-Figure. Heimdall is packed with one of Thor's legs. "Allfathers. Let the dark magic flow through me one last time." Packaging 3/5 Heimdall arrives in packaging emblazoned with the Infinity War logo and using the same colour scheme of light and dark blue that we saw with the other Infinity War Legends. In reality this is more accurately a Thor Ragnarok Heimdall, as he was not wearing his cloak in the Infinity War scenes - but the figure does cross both movies as we will see. The side image is of a particularly fierce looking Heimdall - again from Ragnarok rather than Infinity War - and this image is repeated on the reverse of the pack with the briefest of text that really means nothing anymore considering the destruction of the Rainbow Bridge and the original Asgard. "Guardian of Bifrost Bridge, Heimdall uses his all-seeing eyes to protect Asgard at all costs" Paint & Sculpt 4/5 The head sculpt for Heimdall is very good likeness to Idris Elba and uses face print technology to achieve this. By printing the face the eyes in particular are hugely enhanced vs hand painting, and this can be seen here with the glowing gold pupils printed into Heimdalls eyes - something that would have not been achievable by hand. The hair is sculpted separate to the head, and there is a visible join mark close up. The various bangs and dreads snake down the figures back and the whole piece is painted the same dark grey/black as the beard. Heimdall's cloak covers a lot of the body. It is cast in a softer plastic and is an individual piece cast in brown and with red markings added and a silver clasp painted as a fastening. The cloak is removable, but you do have to pop off Heimdall's head first. Under the cloak is a fully sculpted body and the outfit Heimdall is wearing on the ship in Infinity War. It is coloured in a deep red with brown boots, gauntlets and gloves. There is a detailed belt piece across the middle and if you look closely against the deep red of the outfit you will find battle damage including a slash across his stomach and a gash on one arm. The only criticism of the body is that it is a little slim in stature for Heimdall and without the cloak the hair does float a bit too high above the shoulders. I do not think many people will display him in this configuration. Accessories 3/5 The only accessory included is his sword, Hofund. This is a re-use from the Ragnarok 2-Pack of Thor and Valkyrie. That version of the sword was made with very soft plastic, and I am glad this one is quite a bit stiffer and therefore less warped - although it is not perfect. It has however lost some paint apps so what should be a gold metallic hilt and pommel are now a matt dark yellow. And the dark brown leather grip is now the same red as Heimdall's outfit. The weapon can be held in either hand. Heimdall is right handed, but the sword works best in the left hand if you have the cloak in play. There is a very clever and almost hidden feature if you want the sword shouldered. A thin gap has been left between the sculpted hood of the cloak and the main cloak - a gap that is designed specifically for Hofund to slip through. Very innovative and actually my favourite look for the figure. Articulation 4/5 Heimdall comes with 18 points of articulation, pretty standard fare for a Marvel Legend. Head : ball joint pivot neck Body : torso ball joint Arms : ball joint shoulders, bicep swivel, double joint elbows, wrist pivot Legs : ball joint hops, thigh swivel, double joint knees, ankle rocker With the cloak in play some of the arm movement is lost, but without it Heimdall is as mobile as you like with the ability to kneel and adopt a number of fighting stance with Hofund. I wonder what a soft good cloak would have done for posing and allowing the arm movement to be opened up? Summary I am so pleased that Heimdall is finally a Marvel Legends release, and hopefully from here we can go on and get the original armoured Heimdall as seen in the earlier Thor movies. The figure looks brilliant and is cleverly designed so looks for both Ragnarok and Infinity War can be obtained. There is a lot of detail in the body including the battle wear which is subtle but well executed, and the only gripe is he does look a bit think without his cloak. The sword is poor in relation to the figure and looks and feels cheap, even though the plastic has had an upgrade since its last outing with Thor and Valkyrie. I do like the clever touch with the cloak and the ability to have the sword slung over his shoulder. All in all Heimdall is high scoring in most areas, and in total I award him a 4 out of 5 rating. Hasbro have shared with us the press release for their Marvel Legends Black Widow Movie wave for Spring 2020. The wave will be made up of four MCU movie figures from the Black Widow movie, and three comic book characters - the already revealed Winter Soldier, Crossbones and Spymaster. The MCU figures are Black Widow, Yelena Belova, Taskmaster and a brilliant Red Guardian - although it is a shame that he doesn't appear to come with an alternative masked head? The BAF for the wave is a Crimson Dynamo and parts are included with each of the figures apart from Taskmaster. The wave is already up on Hasbro Pulse and Amazon US for pre-order.

Cara Dune, the former Rebel Shock Trooper, was introduced in Chapter 4 of the Mandalorian, Sanctuary. Her action figure, released in wave 23 of the Black Series, hit stores shortly after the episode aired in December 2019. Cara is number 101 in the 3rd phase of the Black Series and was joined in wave 23 by Luke Skywalker (Yavin), Wedge Antilles, First Order Jet Trooper and Jannah. Packaging 5/5 The Black packaging remains unchanged for wave 23, with the only real difference being the significant numbering milestone of 100 - reached with Yavin Luke - that now puts us with three digits on the side spine and reverse of the box. The illustration of Cara Dune is gorgeous and an excellent likeness is grey lined artwork of Gina Carano. The background text, which accompanies the larger illustration on the box reverse, gives us a bit of detail about the character and her history. "A veteran of the Galactic Civil War who fought for the Rebellion, Cara Dune is a seasoned warrior who has put her days of military discipline behind her, and now has reinvented herself as a mercenary" Paint & Sculpt 5/5 Hasbro have been on top form in the last few months for head sculpts in both Marvel Legends and Black Series, and particularly with female characters. Cara Dune is no exception and the facial sculpt and face print brings out an excellent likeness to Gina Carano and even includes her tiny tattoo under her eye. The hair piece is added on top of the head and hangs down the right side of her face, as seen in the show and across the collar of her outfit. Said out fit is a mix of different textures and colours, starting with the blue armoured shoulder pauldrons and chest piece which then sits on a textured combat vest. These armoured parts are weathered with silver scratch and scuff marks added. There are more tattoos on the right arm with the ring of rectangular markings that go round her bicep. Under these are armoured wrist gauntlets, with more scratching and scuffing. There are two belts around her waist, the first sculpted in with the body and the second lower hanging gun belt as a separate cast piece that retains a little bit of mobility. More armour sits on the right knee and we finish with a pair of combat boots. Painting across the figure is excellent with not a hint of paint bleed or errors. The weathering of the armour with the scratched silver exposed metal detailing is excellent and even the smaller details like the various buckles and canisters are crisp and neat. Accessories 5/5 Cara comes packed with three accessories, a good number for a Star Wars Black Series general release. We start with a combat knife, cast in a fairly rigid plastic. Apart from the basic shape there is a touch of sculpted detail on the grip which is then painted in brown. The knife fits in either hand, but is most snug in the right and can be held up or down depending on the required pose. While there is no specified holster either on the belt or in the boots - the knife can be slipped in the belt if you wish. The second accessory is a blaster, similar in style to the DL-44 as used by Han. This is a slimmer blaster and cast in silver with a painted grey grip. It lacks a great deal of detail, but with the harder plastic it is straight and robust. This is designed to fit in the right hand and here we have a trigger finger ready to slot into place, although this is much harder in recent waves thanks to much harder plastic in the hands. When not in use this blaster has a dedicated holster on Cara's right hip. The blaster is a tight and secure fit and the strap that comes down over the top in rubbery plastic snaps into place via the peg and socket. Cara also wields a larger heavy blaster, similar to the RT-97C that we see some of the Sandtroopers using in A New Hope. On unpacking you will find a loose rubber piece hanging from the rear of the weapon. At first I thought this was a tube/pipe of some kind that would clip into a corresponding part of the armour. It turns out this is the weapon strap, and rather than fix it in place Hasbro have now employed a small circular grip on the end of the strap that can clip onto the barrel at any location. This means no stretching or struggling to get a strap over figures head and shoulders. In stead we pose the figure then attach the strap last in a suitable location. The heavy blaster rifle is cast in solid plastic in grey and has a painted rear grip and stock and some effects on the barrel. It fits into the right hand and can be cradled also with the left. When not in use the strap and clip are strong enough to see it slung over Cara's shoulder. Articulation 5/5 Cara has a total of 18 points of articulation, two more than a standard Black Series figure wih the addition of a swivel fitted at the top of the boot below the knee. In reality this adds very little mobility but is a cleaner option of swivelling the feet out when posing than using the thigh swivel which can throw the cut of the legs. Head : ball joint pivot neck Body : torso ball joint Arms : ball joint shoulder, single rotating elbow, wrist pivot Legs : ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double joint knee, boot cut swivel, ankle rockers The joints are all secure and mobile, with no issues with loose joints or stuck joints needing treatment. Cara can kneel and crouch into poses and she stands perfectly in most positions. The only issue you will find is the upper arms which are blocked by the permanently fixed shoulder pauldrons. That restricts the raising of the arms beyond the shoulders. In reality this makes very little difference as figures are rarely poses with arms up in the air. Even with the shoulder armour, Cara can hold her rifle in both hands and achieving firing poses thanks in part to very mobile wrists alongside the rotating elbows. Summary Cara Dune is another knock-out figure from The Mandalorian. She has a brilliant sculpt, crisp paint job, plentiful accessories and great articulation. The only issue I can note is the shoulder articulation with that fixed armour piece, and that in itself is minor considering the need to ever raise the arms that far on any figure. ThreeZero have released the full product details for their Terminator Dark Fate 1/12 figures of the T-800 and Sarah Connor. The figures are similar in style to the Mezco One:12 offering, with a sculpted articulated body and tailored soft goods clothing. The T-800 comes with an assault rifle and a shotgun and varying hand options to hold them. Sarah Connor comes with similar hand options and a mini-armour comprising of Grenades, Handgun, Revelover, Shotgun and Rocket Launcher. Her sunglasses are also removable. The figures will go on pre-order from 9th December onwards and are not due to ship until the 3rd Quarter of 2020 (July - September). They are priced similarly to Mezco with an $80 price tag in the United States. Tamashii Nations have confirmed details for their SH Monsterarts Burning Godzilla. The 6.2-inch Godzilla is a recolouring of the existing 2019 Godzilla sculpt and represents the final battle between Godzilla and King Ghidorah in King of the Monsters. The figure will be a Webstore Exclusive in Japan and will be released in May 2020. It is expected to have some worldwide distribution via Bluefin.

Yon-Rogg was released as part of the 2019 Captain Marvel movie wave alongside Captain Marvel, Talos the Skrull and Nick Fury, The wave included parts to build a comic book Kree Sentry. Packaging 4/5 The Captain Marvel MCU figures in the 2019 wave were coloured with a gold card back and character name, while the side art and rear artwork took on a blue/purple hue. The illustrations on the side of the box are repeated on the back with a short piece of text that confirms Yon-Rogg's role. "Leader of the Starforce team, Yon-Rogg is a hero among the Kree and a key asset to the Supreme Intelligence in the war against the Skrulls." Under this we have the breakdown of parts for the Kree Sentry BAF and where they are found in the 7 figure wave. Paint & Sculpt 2/5 Our Yon-Rogg figure is most likely based on earlier concept work for the movie, an issue with most early releases where the onscreen look can change after the figure has gone into production. While the costume for Yon-Rogg remains pretty consistent, he rarely wears his helmet on screen and it is certainly not as big as we see here with the large domed top and the upper fin. The head doesn't employ face print technology and the parts we can see of the face are very generic and coloured in a single flesh tone only. I would therefore had rather seen a Jude Law unmasked head included or as a secondary option. The body is done well and uses the same black plastic with painted metallic green as the Captain Marvel equivalent. The green is metallic and clean with good clean lines between black and green and silver used sparingly to create some contrast Accessories 1/5 Yon-Rogg's one accessory is a very boring and poorly cast gun/blaster. It is a generic piece in light grey plastic with only some cursory sculpt detailing. The one we actually see on screen is a similar shape - but is much darker in colour and with green highlighting. This accessory either needed to be well painted, or cast in a much darker plastic. Yon-Rogg is also missing the holster he has on screen, so you are unable to holster the weapon when not in use. When it is being held it fits into the right hand well enough with the trigger finger sliding into the slot that represents the trigger. Considering Yon-Rogg has a lot of fist fighting action on screen it might have also been nice if a pair of fisted hands were included along with the Jude Law head I wished up earlier. Articulation 3/5 The figure has a good set of articulation with 21 points in total, a couple more than usual with the addition of shin swivels. These do not really add much value and maybe their inclusion is more around the option to update the boots on future figures if they re-use this body for people like Korath? Head : ball joint pivot neck Body : torso T-joint, waist swivel Arms : ball joint shoulder, bicep swivel, double joint elbow, wrist pivot Legs : ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double joint knee, shin swivel, ankle rocker Posing is not an issue and the figure is fully mobile for action stances including kneeling. What is an issue is how loose the joints are, particularly the hips and torso. WHile the ankle rockers are substantial enough to hold him upright, you will find him sliding into the splits and overbalancing because of how floppy these key joints actually are. Summary Yon-Rogg is a figure that suffers from that curse of being based on early concept and while the costume remains fairly accurate that huge helmet is very off putting. The figure lacks any real value with a very poor gun and no alternative hands or heads. Articulation too is lacking. While it has more than enough joints, some key joints are loose and floppy and causes the figure to topple far too easily. I score Yon-Rogg from Captain Marvel a 2 out of 5. We have two more announced Black Series figures for 2020, as revealed at Dortmund Comic Con 2019 by Hasbro. First is the expected confirmation of Clone Commander Bly. He will use the existing Clone Trooper body and the soft goods kama as seen on Fox and Rex. The helmet looks to now have an articulated viewfinder/visor. He will be armed with the dual pistols and a DL-15A blaster rifle. Joining Bly is the expected repaint of the First Order Jet Trooper into a Sith Jet Trooper. The bright red armour looks great. The figure is packed with the same gun as the original release. Both figures are down for a Spring 2020 release, that would most likely put them as part of Wave 24 alongside Dooku, Zorii Bliss and the Knight of Ren.

At the Dortmund Comic Con panel, Hasbro confirmed two new additions to the Marvel Legends series. First was the confirmation of the long rumoured Stepford Cuckoos release. This will be a Walgreens exclusive in the US and Fan Channel elsewhere. It includes three head options, so if fans buy three of the same release they can assemble the Cuckoos. The set also includes a Cerebro helmet and some FX pieces. The other announcement was in the Vintage carded collection, a new Storm in her black X-Men outfit. This is a repaint of the previous Vintage carded Storm. She will include lightning FX pieces which look very much like the ones from a recent Thor MCU release and are recoloured from the original release where they were yellow.

Super7 have announced a brand new Andre the Giant action figure in their 7-inch Ultimate scale. The 8th Wonder of the World will come in his in-ring attire and will stand 8-inches tall. There will be three head options, alternative hands and two vests which are removable. He even gets a can of beer. The outfit is not the iconic one strap black singlet from and instead he is wearing his ring attire from his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling. The licencing for the figure is therefore not with WWE but rather part of the NJPW package that Super7 are working with. Pre-orders are opening now and will run through December at Super7. The figure will release in an unspecified date in 2020. "André the Giant: The 8th Wonder of the World! One of the most recognized icons of the 20th Century from his exploits in the wrestling ring and on the movie and television screen. We have the official images and product details for the Super 7 Ultimate Conan the Barbarian figures shown at Powercon 2019. The first wave will be four figures - Conan, Thulsa Doom, Rexor and Thorgrim. Each figure is made to the 7-inch scale and will include appropriate weapons and accessories. Conan has been updated since the reveal at Powercon and rather than the iconic Conan look we saw there, the figure has been changed to his Pit Fighter look. We would hope the original Conan will get an outing in a later wave if the line progresses. The figures can be pre-ordered between 6th and 31st December 2019 direct with Super-7. It seems NECA have bigger plans for the Alien 40th anniversary beyond the Parker and Brett 7-inch figures already revealed. This tweet from NECA teases a Cat Carrier and a new Jonesy in two very different sizes. I suspect that this is definitely an Ultimate Ripley from Alien release for 2020 and potentially indicates a Quarter Scale version also. We await more news?

Dortmund Comic Con in Germany takes place this weekend (7th and 8th of December) and as with shows earlier in the year, Hasbro will be in attendance.
