It is now less than 100 days until the release of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu on the 22nd of May 2026. So far, we've had a teaser trailer and a short spot at the Superbowl which did divide fans considering it consisted of a single sequence of Mando and Grogu being pulled on a hover-carriage by a team of Tauntauns. We had some fun with a replication of one of the scenes from the Superbowl spot using the existing Black Series Tauntaun and the Mando Kries Grogu. The first offiical news landed on Friday the 13th of February ahead of Toy Fair 2026 and featured products across companies like Lego, Jada Toys, Jazwares, Funko, and Hasbro. Within the Hasbro offerings we can look forward to Vintage Collection releases of Mando & Grogu, IG-11, and Imperial Remnant Troopers. The Imperial's also get a new AT-RT vehicle to pilot into battle. In the Black Series there is a similar, but not identical theme, with a Deluxe release of Mando & Grogu, Imperial Remnant AT-AT Driver, AT-RT Driver, and two Stormtrooper variants. We also get a new figure of Colonel Ward as played by Sigourney Weaver. The Black Series will also replicate the 2019 White Box First Edition releases for the Mandalorian & Grogu figures, with the five general releases available in the special packaging. When we consider the new characters and creatures we see in the trailer, Sigourney Weaver's New Republic character is the first prime candidate for a new figure. The same can be said of Zeb Orrelious, who is glimpsed in the trailer battling with his bo-staff. We've already seen a live-action Zeb in the Disney+ series, and it would be great to bring a live-action release into the Black Series and take a step closer to a full live-action Ghost crew. The Anzellans, as mentioned earlier, are seen with Grogu piloting a speeder of sorts, and if we want to go deep into The Mandalorian & Grogu merchandising with a small-format vehicle, this one looks plausible Rotta the Hutt, son of Jabba the Hutt, will play a big part in the movie - literally - and while we see just one shot of him, he does look like a good option for a deluxe Black Series release in a similar size to his father's existing figure. We also see the Desilijic clan symbol on the door of a vault defended by large Droids. While there is no further context, the Droids themselves would make impressive Black Series releases. One of my favourite moments in the trailer was the Amani in the water. This is a callback to Amanaman from Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi, and whether this is Amanaman or another Amani, it is good to see them return to the Star Wars franchise. The final figure possibility, although it would be another large deluxe, would be the creature Mando is riding in an arena. This is a Mantellian Savrip, one of the beasts shown on the Dejarik board when Chewbacca and C-3PO play the game in A New Hope. Whatever Hasbro has in store, it is going to be a fun few months and I would suspect as this is the first Star Wars big screen outing since 2017 we can expect a relatively strong level of support on the toy front, in the Black Series and wider through the VIntage Collection, potentially the Retro Collection, and beyond into other companies such as S.H. "One thing about 'Star Wars' that I'm really proud of is that it expands the imagination." In 2021, Lucasfilm celebrated its 50th Anniversary, and to mark that event, Hasbro released a number of Star Wars Black Series figures that marked particular eras of Star Wars. These included Kenner repainted figures on classic cards such as Greedo and the Jawa, Publishing releases from Star Wars comics and novels, and figures from the live action and animated content on classic inspired packaging like POTF2 and from The Clone Wars. Despite the 50th Anniversary being 2021 in terms of dating, the line did continue forward, and in 2022, Hasbro released a final figure under the 50th Anniversary banner celebrating the creator of Star Wars, George Lucas.  George has had a number of figure releases in the past, all in the 3.75-inch Star Wars line, including as an X-Wing Pilot (Jorg Sacul), as Baron Papanoida based on his cameo in Revenge of the Sith, and as a Stormtrooper in the Saga Collection. It is from this latter release that the Black Series version takes inspiration, recreating George as an Imperial Stormtrooper from the Original Trilogy, complete with a removable helmet. The figure is given a Kenner-esque retro cardback, using the original Star Wars logo for A New Hope and the tramline design. Even the artwork of the Stormtrooper and the red of the backing card and name plate are consistent with the original 1977 release from Kenner. In fact, the only real variation on the card front from those 70s and 80s cards is the use of the golden Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary logo. This is then repeated on the cardback along with the timeline we’ve seen on all the other releases and a short piece of text that focuses on the Lucasfilm history. Interestingly, and different to other 50th Anniversary Lucasfilm figures, space is turned over to a picture of George - albeit alongside a Sandtrooper - and some background text referencing George's accomplishment in film. As a carded figure, George is primarily designed to be displayed mint-in-packaging. If it is opened, the box and blister are damaged to some degree, and there is no repack option as we get on the boxed Black Series releases. George utilises the newer Imperial Stormtrooper body that has been in circulation since 2020, when it debuted alongside the start of the Phase 4 Galaxy Collection packaging. This incorporates cast gloss white armoured pieces, connected at the jointed sections by black joints that replicate the combat suit underneath the armour, completed with a ribbed finish. That minimises paintwork overall with just a few spots of black on the stomach section and again on the canister on the rear belt. There is also some overpainting of black on parts like the forearms, where the black undersuit continues onto what would be a cast white section. The headsculpt, new for this figure (and at the time of writing never used elsewhere), features that iconic look for George, probably circa him making the Prequel movies, with his now trademark grey silver beard and hair c,omplete with front fringe swept up and back away from his forehead. Facial printing picks out the eyes and adds some more subtle shading and colour around the nose and the mouth. It is recogniseable as Lucas, particularly front on, but perhaps looses some of that likeness transplanted as it is onto a Stormtrooper body that does not have the same overall build.  The figure comes with a Stormtrooper helmet that is wearable, cast in the same gloss white plastic but with a small amount of flexibility to aid it going on over George’s head which is a snug fit particularly getting it over the front of his quiff. The helmet has black painted visor and upper trim along the brow ridge. The cheek, nose and mouth vents are also painted black with silver down the nose section and to either side of the mouth piece. A final pair of vents on the ridge, either side of the mouth, are painted in blue. George comes with a base E-11 Stormtrooper Blaster, cast in grey black plastic with sufficient component detail on the sculpt but no paint work. There is no holster option on this newer Stormtrooper, so the weapon can only be held and only in the right hand, with the left able to cradle the barrel.  Articulation, as it was on the base figure, is all pinless and built into and around the armour, ensuring the overall look of the figure remains unbroken across most posed positions. There are 21 points of articulation, including butterfly shoulders under the hinged pauldrons to aid arm movement and in particular two handed firing positions with the blaster. The knees have scope to bend and kneel, while the ankle rockers are stable once posed, keeping George in check with more dynamic running poses available with the use of a support stand (not included).  The figure does suffer slightly from transplanting a new head onto an existing body, and therefore it doesn’t quite feel like George in terms of build and even the head, while a good likeness, can look out of place from certain angles. Head aside, this is a run-of-the-mill Stormtrooper with the improved body, wide-ranging articulation, and with a solitary blaster as an accessory. I wonder here if the figure could have played even further on George Lucas’s role here for display, including a Directors clapper-board or clipboard for him to hold to really lean into who he is. As a release, this is one of just a few figures that mark the creative minds behind Star Wars. Alongside Georg,e we also have a figure of Dave Filoni as Trapper Wolf from his brief role in The Mandalorian. And from the Mandoverse, a figure of Jon Favreau unmasked in the Paz Viszla armour, a character he voices. George can now join this group of Star Wars creators, carded or uncarded, or can even simply be recruited into your Stormtrooper forces with you as the collector, knowing that beneath that row of helmets on display, George Lucas is making a 6-inch scaled cameo. Hasbro has unveiled their new G.I. Joe Classified Series release of Dawn Moreno Snake Eyes, coming to collections for Summer 2026. The new Snake Eyes figure includes both masked and unmasked heads, twin Katana's with rear sheaths, and a pair of guns. The Michael Keaton Batman releases from NECA continue with this reveal of a 1989 Batman in the 8-inch retro styled figure line. Batman includes an articulated body and tailored bat-suit complete with soft goods wired cape. Accessories include extra hands, a batarang, and a grapnel launcher. Super7 has revealed Wave 14 of their Teenage Mutant Ultimates collection featuring new figures of April O'Neil, Hun, Raphael in road gear, and the Shell Cycle. Each character features three head options and extra hands. They then come with appropriate accessories and weaponry, with an alternative pair of arms for Hun to replicate a folded arm stance. The Shell Cycle comes with a selection of effect parts and a dynamic stand. Following the announcement of the NECA 8-inch figure of The Penguin from Batman Returns, NECA have now unveiled a Catwoman 8-inch figure from the same movie. The articulated figure features tailored soft goods clothing and comes with two head options, the second of which is battle-damaged from the final fight scenes of the movie. Accessories include her whip and taser, and she features a selection of hands with which to wield them. Like Penguin, Catwoman comes in a window box complete with an outer sleeve. NECA has announced a new DC action figure release, a first in their 8-inch retro action figure line, with this 2026 release of The Penguin from Batman Returns. The articulated figure features a full soft goods tailored outfit, including his fur-lined coat, which is wired for improved posing options. Hasbro's Marvel Legends held a new Fan Stream event on the 10th of February. The event, set up in advance by the team on social media, that it would focus on Comic Book releases, with a small number of further reveals coming over the New York Toy Fair weekend. Images in the following article will be screen grabs until the wider press release pack is shared. The Fan Stream started with the reveal of Secret Wars Wave 2. As with Wave 1, these figures remain on retro cards and come with their lenticular shields. Up first was a new classic Falcon, complete with Redwing. Falcon includes different wing parts for flying or landed poses. The second reveal was Constrictor with plug-in tentacles. He is joined by Absorbing Man with an alternative head, extra hands, and his wrecking ball accessory. The fourth figure is Magik in her New Mutants outfit, complete with extra hands, sword and magic effect. There was also confirmation with Magik that there is another New Mutants release coming later in 2026. The fifth figure is a Spider-Man, and it is a variation of the existing Spider-Man figures with a first time interaction with the Venom symbiote featuring a black blob to hold in his left arm, with the symbiote suit taking over his left arm, and part of the chest and head. He also features extra web-shooting hands. And Spidey is joined by Daredevil, complete with extra hands, a baton that can be split into two billy clubs, and a sense effect piece to clip onto his head. Secret Wars Wave 2 opens on the 11th of February for pre-order as a general release wave at all retailers. “Are we blind? Deploy the garrison!” Hasbro’s initial army builder releases in slimmed-down packaging saw its origins in the Marvel Legends line back in 2020 with the releases of Hydra, A.I.M., and Hellfire ‘troops’ in small, windowless boxes sold at a cheaper RRP to allow collectors to build up squads for their collection. These single releases would then evolve into two packs in 2022 with the Shield Agent set. The concept made the jump to the Star Wars Black Series in 2024 with releases via Hasbro Pulse of Troop Builder sets. From the Original Trilogy, we had a pack of a Stormtrooper and a Rebel Fleet Trooper, and from the Prequel Era, a set featuring a Clone Trooper and a Battle Droid.  In 2025, we were presented with two further sets, including another for The Clone Wars fans with the B2 Super Battle Droid alongside a Phase I Clone Trooper, and the set we will look at here. The Rogue One ‘Army Builder’ pack brought together the Deathtrooper Specialist, who had only ever been released once before in 2016 as part of an exclusive three-pack , and a Shore Trooper. The Shore Trooper, originally released under the name Scarif Stormtrooper, was another exclusive release in 2016  but had seen a more recent iteration thanks to the Trooper’s role in Andor and a 2023 single release , but again exclusive. The slimmed-down packaging for our two Imperial Troops is much smaller than the standard Black Series boxes in terms of height, in particular. It remains mat black, and while windowless, still follows some of the other Black series principles. While the set is not numbered, the accent colour remains in line with the Galaxy Collection Rogue One releases. This colour is used on the banding that confirms the source material, and on the Trooper’s names. It is also, in a variance to the usual release format, is used on the Black Series logo. The artwork is more akin to the older Phase 2 and Phase 3 packaging, a grey scale illustration and is shown on the front of the box to illustrate the content, partially wrapping the sides. The same artwork repeats on the back, and in actual fact back and front design are almost identical, save the rear piece replacing the Trooper names, Hasbro logo and Warning label with the legal and copyright text. The box opens from a rear flap and extends out and upward to reveal a plain cardboard interior, and with the two figures in Star Wars Black Series branded tissue paper with the accessories in smaller paper baggies. This format of wrapping wont be new to collectors who went through the short-lived move to windowless packaging. The Deathtrooper is unchanged from its original 2016 release and is built from glossy black armoured parts with connecting dark grey, almost black joints with a ribbed effect to mimic the Trooper’s combat suit beneath the armour. Unlike the new armoured Troopers, these are assembled with both armour and joint on the same part in a number of places, with the matte finish painted over the gloss black. The Specialist gear, the bit exclusive to that 2016 three pack, is the combined piece featuring a right shoulder Pauldron, combat webbing, belt and ammunition pouches. This is cast in softer black plastic with visible detail on the various clasps and buckles, but with only three studs picked out in silver on the upper pouch on the left shoulder. A similar soft plastic belt concludes the outfit with more pouches and a strap holster of sorts. This also features a solitary paint app with an oval-shaped belt buckle. The helmet is also gloss black with green painted visor and silver detailing down the central ‘nose’ area and to the filtration tubes, which also carry a hint of green on the inner section.  There are three guns included in the set, with two of them designed for use with the Deathtrooper. The first of these is a small hand blaster, the SE-14, which is a very plain design and little detailing other than the upper scope, barely, trigger and a couple of visible rivets. It is cast in grey and has no other featured paintwork. The blaster fits into the right hand and can be holstered in the loop holster. There is then a larger E-11D blaster rifle included, which uses the same dull grey plastic and, like the smaller blaster, is very soft on detail despite the complexity of the actual prop itself. You can see and make out the barrel design, with the end picked out in a touch of silver. There is also a red indicator painted just behind the stock on one side. Again, this is right-hand grip only, with sufficient articulation to bring the left hand over to grip the barrel. The articulation itself is as it was in 2016, with 16 points of articulation. This includes pinned knees on the legs which are quite extensive in their movement including the ability to sit, kneel or run (with help from a stand). As with a lot of older figures using this articulation, the look can be quite bow-legged. The upper articulation includes torso and neck joints, with the torso quite limited in motion leaning forward in particular. The arms feature a single elbow joint and base shoulder articulation. There is enough for some weapon posing, but not to the extent we see on more modern Troopers.  Moving to the Shore Trooper and this again uses the base 2016 figure and also remains faithful to the colour scheme established for Rogue One on Scarif and not the deeper beige seen in Andor. The Shore Trooper uses less armoured parts, and where these exist, they are cast in a beige finish over a black upper suit which incorporates the joints, neck, and hands. There is a similarly beige coloured belt and small skirt piece with a painted brown ammunition pouch that also features gold fastenings. The legs are a dark brown, textured and creased to mirror cloth before tucking into a pair of beige armoured shin guards. Other than the ammunition pouches, paint work is limited. We do get some weathering on the shins to mirror a mud splash effect, and we also have some rank and unit markings with a red upper bicep with three yellow dots, and a white stripe trimmed in black over the left pauldron. Other areas we might expect to be painted, like the straps on the chest armour, are ignored and left in the base colour.  The helmet, a vague merging of several Trooper helmets and inclusive of the Biker Scout front vent, is cast in beige to match the armour. The visor is gloss black, with mat black on the front vent, some side panels and as a thin trim around the visor piece. This visor also carries a red decal. Our Shoretrooper is provided with a single weapon, a version of the standard E-11 blaster rifle in a similar, but slightly darker, grey to the Deathtrooper weapons pairing. Details here are crisper and more defined, but the weapon still lacks any paint or even a drybrush to add a metallic feel to the piece. It can sit in the right hand and be posed in single or two hand positions.  The Shoretrooper originates from the same time as the Deathtrooper (2016) and has the same profile of articulation across 16 points. The Shoretrooper does, however, include better proportions and the joints are built more naturally into the body, especially around the legs, to give him a better look overall. The same double joint knees can facilitate kneeling positions, but the skirt piece of the armour does create resistance. The arms can get into a number of firing positions with the weapon, with the neck allowing the helmet to move into an associated position, while the torso joint has much more play and ab-crunch than the Deathtrooper.  The set ticks off a number of boxes for collectors, expanding any Rogue One display as intended, but also allowing the two troopers to migrate to fill out other elements in the Star Wars Universe. The Shore Troopers can be employed with the Andor versions with minimal paint variation between the two, while the Deathtroopers can be reallocated to guard a Rebels-era Thrawn, or as a guard unit for Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian.  For the base RRP of £39.99, the saving is visible in moving these to a smaller and simpler packaging and using existing sculpts when some may desire an update to both these Troopers in line with the more recent Imperial Troops, especially when the Deathtrooper has had a modern update of sorts with the Nighttrooper version from Ahsoka Season 1. It has been announced that Hasbro has agreed a multi-year licensing deal with Warner Bros. Discovery Global to make Hasbro the global primary toy licensee for the world of Harry Potter and its upcoming HBO Original Series. The line is listed in the press release as including dolls, role play, action figures & collectibles, interactive plush and board games. More details on these will released later this year ready for the 2027 launch window. The move is interesting considering that Warner Bros. had recently worked closely with McFarlane on various properties, so the switch to Hasbro is an interesting shift and brings another large universe franchise into the Hasbro portfolio. The new JFS Toys Robocop 2-packs are live for pre-ordering with a February 2027 release date. These are 1/10 scale (7-inch) figures and follow on from the first wave of single releases featuring the Villains of Old Detroit. Up first is Robocop and Officer Lewis, with the set also including an alternative head option for both figures, while Lewis also features a removable Riot helmet and Bulletproof Vest. Also included in the set is the M93 Auto9 gun, the P226 gun, coffee cups, bubble gum effect, and alternative hand,s including Robocop's spike hand. The second set uses the same Robocop base figure, but now battle damaged. He is packed in with Toxic Emil who comes with the Nukem board game and a TV set. Robocop has a second head sculpt, extra hands, a set of baby food jars, the MP3 Auto9 gun and the Cobra Assault Cannon.
