  • Hiya Toys Exquisite Super 1/12 Robocop and Flightpack from Robocop 3 (1993)

Revealed by Hiya Toys and part of their 1/12 Exquisite Super Series is this new Robocop figure from the 1993 Robocop 3 movie. The figure features a fully articulated Robocop with alternative hands, 2 alternative face plates, and swap out damaged armour parts. Robocop is armed with two variant AUTO-9 pistols with an effect piece for firing. The smaller of the two AUTO-9's can be holstered in the working thigh holster. You also get Robocop's gun arm, complete with smart bomb, magazine and another effect piece. The set is concluded with the inclusion of Robocop's flightpack with interchangeable arm brace. This can be posed using the built-in articulation on both the figure and the pack, and on the included flight stand. The Exquisite Super Robocop 3 set is due to release in Quarter 4 (October to December) of 2026. In the near future, Detroit’s public order is no longer managed by the city itself. Backed by federal support, OCP’s corporate power reaches deep into municipal operations—law enforcement included. Officer Alex Murphy is killed in a violent operation, then rebuilt and “brought back” by OCP as RoboCop. Engineered from human tissue and cybernetic machinery, he becomes the frontline weapon in the system’s war on crime. Yet as Murphy’s consciousness begins to resurface, the truth of what he used to be—and what he lost—drags him toward a new pursuit: justice on his own terms. This all-new EXQUISITE SUPER Series 1/12 scale RoboCop action figure stands approximately 16.5CM tall. Based on RoboCop3 (1993) , it faithfully captures the cold, imposing presence of the future law enforcer. The armor features a steel-blue metallic finish to recreate the film’s heavy, realistic metal look. Designed with multiple articulations, the figure is built for dynamic posing—from steady stances to shooting and full combat action. Accessories include 4x interchangeable hands, 2x interchangeable faces, and a set of battle-damaged armor parts (helmet and chest armor) for recreating intense battle moments. Include 2x sizes of AUTO-9 pistols, and 1x effect part for AUTO-9. The right thigh features a functional compartment for storing the smaller AUTO-9, allowing you to recreate RoboCop’s iconic moment. A Gunarm part with smart bomb, magazine, smoke and firing effect parts for more aggressive display setups. A Flightpack is included with 1x interchangeable arm brace, linking with the arm joints for more dramatic aerial posing. Paired with stand, you can stably display a wide range of action and flight scenes with strong cinematic presence. To manage our storage costs, news article images are archived after 12-months. • Review: Star Wars Black Series Anakin Skywalker and Clone Captain Rex, Clones of the Republic Exclusive #04

“You're a good soldier, Rex. So is every one of those men down there.” The Star Wars Black Series added the first Clones of the Old Republic exclusive 2-packs in 2024. The intention of the sub-line was to bring us a selection of Clone Troopers and their appropriate Jedi commanders to build on our Prequel-era Republic Forces. The line kicked off as intended with an updated version of Mace Windu  as a Jedi General alongside a 187th Legion Trooper  in the original comic-book purple colouring. The second release gave us a Prequel-era Yoda  and his Council Chair alongside a comic book release of Commander Gree  in standard Phase II armour. Hopes were therefore high going into 2025, but the next release wouldn’t quite live up to the first two, with nothing particularly new or innovative for the line and instead was essentially a re-pack of the Clone Commander Obi-Wan Kenobi  and a slightly updated version of the 212th Clone Trooper . The line then announced its fourth set and the one we will explore today, the Clones of the Republic release of Anakin Skywalker and Clone Captain Rex. This set, a Hasbro Pulse Exclusive, was listed as a 2025 release, arriving at the end of the year with most collectors receiving their figures in early 2026. The Clones of the Republic releases are still using the older format Phase 4 packaging despite it changing in 2024 to the squared collector packaging. The wider 2-pack black mat box comes with two slanted sides, each containing an image of the characters in the set, Anakin on the left panel and Rex on the right. The COTR packs have their own accent colour in blue, and this is used within the artwork as well as on the key text elements front and back. The back of the box includes the repeated character art and some background text, which doesn’t specify the set from a particular era of The Clone Wars, and instead talks about Rex as a “no-nonsense trooper” adjusting to his “maverick Jedi General, Anakin Skywalker” . As the set uses the older format box, the figures are set against a plain grey backdrop.  Anakin is presented in his Jedi General gear as seen in the Clone Wars cartoon series and more recently in the World Between Worlds scenes from Ahsoka. This starts with a plain burgundy torso, overwhich we have a full soft-goods tunic in blue/grey that is held in place at the shoulders by the Clone armour which is a plastic piece cast in grey. There are matching grey pauldrons to either side of this shoulder armour, hinged under the shoulder piece against the torso. The left pauldron is inclusive of a sculpted Republic symbol picked out in burgundy paint. Anakin’s arms are the same burgundy finish and then we have long brown gloves, the right glove featuring painted fastenings to reflect this as Anakin’s prosthetic arm. The soft goods robes are wrapped at the waist by a softer plastic belt, cast in a dark brown to match the gloves and with pouch details at the side and around the back. The front buckle is painted in silver, and we have a few more panels of gold and silver to the sides. Under the main soft goods blue/grey tunic is a second soft goods piece to create the burgundy skirt, which hangs more as a tabard so its visible through the join of the main tunic as Anakin opens his pose for battle. Like the arms, the legs are burgundy and then move into knee-high boots in brown, and while these feature a lot of straps and fastenings, none of them are painted. These legs are also pinned at the knees, which are visible as the skirt piece does not come low enough to cover them. The headsculpt is a good likeness to Anakin, but rather the one we see in Ahsoka, a de-aged Hayden Christensen, rather than being a converted version from The Clone Wars brought into realistic style using the original prequel movies as inspiration.  Right to Left: 2025 2-Pack, 2025 Single, 2021 Carded That likeness, along with the pins in the legs, indicates the figure is a re-use, and as it stands in the COTR set, this is very much the Ahsoka ‘World Between Worlds’ Anakin that we had a single release  in 2025 as part of Wave 21. That figure was based on the 2021 Clone Wars Exclusive Anakin , and the legs in particular date all the way back to the original 2014 Anakin .  Right to Left: 2025 2-Pack, 2025 Single, 2021 Carded The headsculpt on the newer Anakin from 2025 does improve on the 2021 version considerably, with the Clones of the Republic version being a crisper facial print than the single release, but the difference is marginal. Both 2025 versions have the same body and soft goods, while the 2021 version uses plastic upper robes connected directly to the shoulder armour. Which is the better execution will be a matter of personal preference. For me, I like the soft goods when it's controlled and kept in check by sculpted parts.  Anakin comes with his lightsaber, the long-standing accessory used in multiple sets since The Force Awakens. This is silver in colour with black fins and a gold switch. It can be secured on Anakin’s belt by way of a plug and socket. The saber blade is translucent blue and clicks into place securely for displaying Anakin wielding his lightsaber. Articulation is a hybrid of the now-dated 2014 legs and a newer 2021 torso and arms. Overall, we have 19 points of articulation with the upper torso carrying all of the more modern pinless functionality, including a dual-joint neck and butterfly shoulders. This provides Anakin with a range of both static and offensive options, wielding his lightsaber in both offensive and defensive positions. The legs thesmelves are definitely showing their age, with double-jointed pinless knees that provide a good range of movement, but are not particularly pretty when used. One notable tweak is that the weak ankles that have plagued all of the Anakin releases using these legs has been tightened, and while there are large gaps between the internal ratchets, Anakin is easier to pose and stay standing. The soft goods work well enough around the legs to allow this version of the character to kneel. Moving to Captain Rex, and this is Rex as we see him in The Clone Wars in his Phase 2 armour with his own unique take on the helmet in particular, fusing the newer helmet and the older Phase 1 helmet to his own personal preference. The figure uses the older Clone Trooper body that dates back as far as 2014 and includes cast white parts and painted black internal joints and connections, with some paint bleed and rough edges evident when viewed up close. The armour is painted with the colours of the 501st in a blue finish down the arms and legs, with Rex also featuring ‘tally’ marks etched into the markings on his lower arms and on his right shin armour.  The commander Pauldron is an individual piece, cast in black with blue painted panels and a touch of silver on the fastenings for the ammo pouch. The belt is the same white as the armour and holds in place a soft goods Kama skirt in black with a blue trimmed edge. The final decor is on the custom panels Rex has added, painting the sculpted weld line on the chest section in bronze finish. The whole armour is then given a weathered wash. Rex comes with a fully sculpted and painted head with the standard Clone Wars era likeness of Temura Morrison. It uses facial printing to give a crisp finish to the eyes, mouth and the shading around the nose and cheeks. Rex’s light bleached hair is painted with a relatively crisp transition at the hairline.  The helmet is the same white plastic as the armour, with a black painted visor, and both silver and black are used on the breathing gear and on the large viewfinder. The 501st blue markings are added as a trim around the visor with the Jaig Eyes logo above. Further tally marks are added to either side in black, and the welded joints between Phase I and Phase II helmet parts are painted in bronze, with the helmet also weathered.  The helmet is a good, snug fit for the Clone head, but due to the shape, there is some visibility of the chin through the rounded segment of the front vents. The range finder is hinged and can be brought down to simulate a firing position.  This Captain Rex Phase II figure is identical to the one originally released in 2018, initially as a Convention Exclusive  and then as a Wave 15 standard release . It was also used again in 2022  for the Bad Batch release. This means that, like Anakin, anyone with the current figure is not getting anything significantly new or innovative. vs 2018 Exclusive (image 1), vs 2018 Single Release (image 2), vs 2025 Phase II Armour (image 3) There are paint variations in the armour, but nothing significantly better in the 2025 release vs the earlier versions. The facial printing of the unmasked head is, like Anakin, crisper than the 2018 standard release and with more natural tone to the hair (the convention version did not use facial printing tech).  vs 2018 Clone Captain Rex (right) Because this is a reuse, the figure carries with the pinned elbows and knees and the lack of a trigger finger on the left hand. While Rex’s armour is unique and needs some variant parts, an opportunity has been lost or ignored here to give us a Captain Rex Phase II using the much-improved new Clone Trooper body that was used on all of the previous Clones of the Republic sets, and on other upgraded Clones like Commander Cody’s 2025 release.  Rex comes with his twin DC-17 blaster pistols. These are cast in black with limited details and are designed to sit in the twin holsters included on the belt section. One will fit snugly into the right hand, where a trigger finger sits into place. Sadly, the older Rex/Clone body does not have a matching left hand, so the positioning for the left blaster is not quite right. Even though the body wasn’t updated, it wouldn’t have been overly difficult to give Rex two trigger-finger hands.  As the base body dates back to 2014, the articulation is very much of that era, with visible pins on both elbows and knees. Both are double-jointed, so that makes them both very mobile for posing. There are 18 joints in total, and while there is the benefit of the pinned double joints, there are other areas that are more problematic, with the hips on the older Clone body physically restricted by the armour shaping, so Rex is not able to kneel or sit naturally. You are also missing butterfly shoulders, but as Rex only has single-handed blasters, that is less of an issue. The torso is limited in movement to rotation or leaning backwards, but not forward. And the neck has a pivot joint that is visible, but not overly intrusive, as its on the black part of the neck.  At £44.99, this Anakin and Rex set is only available at Hasbro Pulse , with stocks heading to Shop Disney later on in 2026. That does mean it is cheaper than two single figures, but for that £45, you are getting two figures that already exist in the line, with this version of Anakin released as a single figure just a few weeks before this two-pack hit. Rex hasn’t been on shelves in this Phase II armour since the 2022 Bad Batch figure, so it will be a welcome upgrade to new collectors or those who missed out the first time round. But it is a crying shame this release wasn’t used to give us a brand new Clone Captain Rex on the newer body, fixing many issues this figure has with articulation and the ability to hold its gun. For those who own these two figures already, the paint decor update is negligible, but I do feel the COTR pair have crisper facial printing, although that is personal preference. The set remains in stock at the time of writing, but is unlikely to see heavy discounting from Hasbro. • What figures might we get for Spider-Man: Brand New Day based on the brand new Trailer?

The first trailer is here for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and as always us action figure collectors are already considering which figures we might see from Hasbro in particular to coincide with the movie's release in July 2026. Of course, any Spider-Man wave would have to include Spidey, with the new suit and potentially an unmasked Peter Parker for the marginally older Tom Holland likeness from the one we saw last for No Way Home. It also seems feasible that both Frank Castle's Punisher and Doctor Bruce Banner could easily be included, particularly as both have existing base figures that could be partially repurposed. In terms of the foes we see Spider-Man facing, then a Deluxe release of Mac Gargan's Scorpion would be in keeping with the bad guys we saw for No Way Home. Other single releases might also include a Hand Ninja pack, potentially with multiple heads/hands. And we could also see a Tarantula and/or Boomerang, although I suspect these will only feature in an early montage (a la Fantastic Four: First Step) to establish Spider-Man's role in protecting New York. At this point, it is likely too early to see a Sadie Sink figure, and we are yet to see Tombstone who we know is cast for the movie. • Review: Nacelle Toys Star Trek Wave 1 Captain Hikaru Sulu from Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

“Stardate 9521.6. Captain's Log, USS Excelsior. Hikaru Sulu commanding.” The Star Trek franchise has had a number of action figure runs over the years, including the original Mego figures, ERTL, and most notably its first run at Playmates, which produced figures from 1992 to 2000 across all the Star Trek movies and shows at a 5.5 inch scale predominently. When that deal came to an end, the figures moved to Art Asylum under the Diamond Select umbrella, and the scale move upward to a new 7-inch line that lasted until 2009. Playmates had a second short spell in 2009 for the rebooted Trek movie before McFarlane had a stab at more 7inch figures in 2018, releasing two figures of Kirk and Picard before giving up on the licence. We then headed back to Playmates again in 2022 for a re-launch of their 5.5 inch line, which lasted one full wave before it too was canned. And so we reach 2025, where the Star Trek licence was split, with Master Replicas granted the licence for the newer format series like Picard, while Nacelle Toys would pick up the ability for figures across the original movies and TV series from The Original Series through to Voyager.  The Nacelle approach was to return to the larger scale and more collector focused product, while also picking more obscure characters not necessarily seen before in an action figure line for Trek. The first wave of 8 figures including such characters as Peter Pressman, Valkris, and Tuvix, alongside more recogniseable characters like Weyoun and Hikaru Sulu. That first wave was initially due for release in September 2025, but was pushed back by Nacelle, who were unhappy with the QC on the first factory figures. The wave finally arrived en masse in March 2026. I personally made an early decision not to go all in on the Nacelle Series due to costs and space, but I did want to cherry-pick some key characters from my personal memories of Star Trek across the 80s and 90s in particular. For Wave 1, that meant that Captain Hikaru Sulu in that iconic movie Starfleet uniform with its burgundy tunic was a must, and it is the figure I will review here to get a feel for the new Nacelle line. The packaging has been established early as following a similar design to most collector lines, with a large window to present the figure. Nacelle has chosen to cut off the top right-hand corner to break up the square box. The base imagery of the box is a red-hued nebula, over which we have the Nacelle logo top left, the generic Star Trek communicator bag logo to the top right, and the source material logo to the bottom rail. In this case, this is Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. The Character name is added to the right side of the window, with the releases also numbered and Sulu given the 004 designation which is on the opposite side.  Both side panels feature the same image of the figure, and this also repeats on the reverse alongside a short piece of background text that is specific to this version of Sulu and talks about his role as Captain of the U.S.S. Excelsior, the incident on Praxis, and the conspiracy that ends at Khitomer. Under this, we have a classic-inspired visual checklist of the entirety of wave 1, with each image that of the actual figure with its numbering above. Inside the box is a starfield cardboard insert, into which sits the figure tray. This varies slightly from what we are used to seeing on lines like Marvel Legends or NECA, and instead uses a two part inner tray similar to S.H. Figuarts. This keeps all the parts secure without any ties, but does mean in box collectors are viewing the figure through two layers of plastic.  Captain Sulu wears his Starfleet Captains uniform as seen during the events of The Undiscovered Country, and the basis of which had been established across the previous movies back to 1982’s Wrath of Khan. The upper body is cast in a burgundy plastic into which is sculpted the piping, belt, and Starfleet insignia. These are overpainted with black on the piping and belt, and white on the rank insignia on the right shoulder and left wrist, as well as at the collar of the tunic and the end of the sleeves. Gold and silver is applied to finish these rank panels and also on the belt buckle. The finish on these are predominantly neat and tidy, but the belt buckle in particular is a bit messy around the edges. The tunic also suffers from QC issues, with my release having a plastic stain on the back and several white spots where paint from the detailing has splashed on the main costume. There is also an issue at the elbows with different colour plastic used in the central joint, giving a variation between upper and lower arms to the lighter colour of the elbow itself.  As per the uniform design on screen, the trousers are cast in black with sculpted piping down each side overpainted in red. This painted trim is relatively neat, but appears dull as is the result of putting any coloured paint over black, and has some small areas where the edge is not coloured fully. The trousers are flared at the bottom, then tucked into the boots, which are left in the same plain black when they should really be a glossier black to provide some contrast of the transition from the cloth of the trousers, to the harder glossier finish of the boots, therefore remaining accurate to the costumes on screen. The headsculpt is a reasonable likeness to George Takei as he was seen in 1991 for the release of The Undiscovered Country. Head and hair are sculpted as one piece, and all the hair and facial detail look to be hand painted rather than facially printed like some of the other collector lines. Sulu is given highlights to the skin tone rather than leaving it flat, and the lips and eyes are painted well enough, albeit basic in their interpretation. The hair is plain black and shows some edging issues when viewed up close, with parts of the hairline still showing in flesh colour. There is also more plastic colour variation between the head plastic and the neck plastic, which is lighter. from left to right: Star Wars Black Series, Marvel Legends, Nacelle Star Trek, NECA Nacelle originally listed their new line as a 6-inch scale (1/12), but this was not strictly accurate, and the production figures are more of a 7-inch (1/10) scale. You can see here how they line up against similar 6-inch and 7-inch lines. By following the 7-inch format it does mean that Nacelle Toys provides some level of continuation from the original Art Asylum figures and the short-live McFarlane series.  One thing Nacelle have gone very heavy on right from the start is accessories, and you have plenty of choice for displaying your Captain Sulu. There are a number of hand options allowing you to select between clenched fists, open hands, gripping hands, and phaser-firing hands. These swap in and out easily enough with a ridged segment on the peg that holds them securely once inserted.  The gripping hands are utilised for the two included communicators, and yes, Nacelle have packed two, so you can choose to display him with the 1982 Wrath of Khan style, or the one from Undiscovered Country. These are well decorated and include multiple colouring and detailing, including clearly defined buttons and screens.  The next accessory is a shirt piece that allows the uniform to be changed from the fully fastened tunic to one with the front flap unfastened and folded down. This look is sported by Kirk rather than Sulu, but it is a nice touch to see it included and gives an indication that bodies and functionality will see re-use in the future. The section of the shirt is well disguised and clips out from the bottom and can be swapped easily. Sulu also comes with two phasers that again reflect both Star Trek II and Star Trek VI. The firing hands means you can have Sulu firing either left or right handed, with a good grip on both weapons, including the extended finger we often see as the weapons are pointed. The Phasers are also painted with notable panels and components picked out in white. The final accessory is very much iconic in terms of Captain Sulu and the Undiscovered Country, his U.S.S. Excelsior china cup and saucer from which he is drinking when Praxis explodes. This comes already attached to its own hand that slots into the right wrist. The cup itself is cast in white with a painted blue rim and clearly printed U.S.S. Excelsior text. It is even half full with the contents painted. The saucer is plugged into the cup but can be detached for different looks, with the open or gripping hands able to be brought across to hold or support the saucer when posed.  The posing of all the accessories is delivered by 20 points of articulation in total, all of which are pinless. The upper body includes a ball joint head, and then a combination of arm movement, starting with the shoulder ball joints, but no butterfly joints. From the shoulders, we then get a bicep swivel, a double elbow joint, and a simple wrist rotation and pegged pivot. The shoulders and elbows are ratcheted and hold positions really well. I found the bicep swivel very weak, and my right bicep will not hold any pose at all after just a couple of rotations; they can also pop out easily. There is no torso joint, and the waist is simply a rotation with no forward or backward lean. The legs include an upper hip joint, thigh swivel, double joint knee, ankle rotation and ankle pivot. Unlike the arms, the leg joints do not appear to have a ratchet, so I do find the hips too easy to slide out to the side. The knees hold OK for now, but may become an issue over time. The ankle joints work to hold the figure once stood, but take a bit of care to make sure the rotation is in the right place to then engage the ankle pivot. With Nacelle already considering Bridge Playsets, I can confirm that Sulu can just about sit, although it's not perfect with the legs quite spread due to the lower, softer section of the tunic blocking off the movement. This shouldn’t be so much of an issue for the Original Trilogy figures or those from The Next Generation onwards.  For those who display their figures and would like to utilise aftermarket stands, I can confirm the Nacelle line does include peg sockets on both feet that fit into the NECA stands, and for smaller footprint stands, those that are compatible with the original Star Wars Kenner figures.  from left to right: NECA (Black), NECA (Clear), Protech Star Wars Vintage The Nacelle Star Trek figures are retailing around £29 here in the UK, which is considerably lower than a 7 inch NECA Ultimate figure, which would be comparable considering the amount of accessories included with Captain Sulu. In fact, the accessories probably outshine the figure in terms of detailing and execution. Sulu himself is a good-looking figure, but with flaws I would not expect to see on a collector line, such as visibly mismatched plastic tones, gummy joints, and QC issues with both paint apps and plastic. I am nit-picking, and there is not enough to send the figure back to hope for an improvement, but I would be interested to see how more complex designs than the rather simplistic Starfleet uniforms will fare.  The other issue is the commitment to the line to complete ‘sets’ for collectors, and while Captain Sulu is unlikely to see any other officers from his U.S.S. Excelsior bridge, it would be good to know that Nacelle will commit to a set of the key characters from the 1982-1991 movie series in this uniform, allowing the bridge crew to be assembled in a matching style. The same will be said of the announced Next Generation, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine figures, and while more obscure characters are a brave choice, doing these at the expense of key Trek luminaries may end up being more damaging to the line.
