Hasbro have revealed a new addition to the Gaming Greats Star Wars Black Series line, the Imperial Rocket Trooper. The figure is based on the Battlefront 2 video game, and is a tweak to the original 2019 release of the Imperial Rocket Trooper which was based on that particular Trooper's appearance in Star Wars Rebels. It will come in the new Phase 4 Galaxy Collection packaging and it looks like all the Gaming figures will come under the light blue accent colour with this figure sitting before the Deluxe Cal Kestis if the side art is accurate. That would put the Rocket Trooper as GG #01 and Cal Kestis as #02 unless there are more to be unveiled and Hasbro are revealing them out of sequence. The Rocket Trooper will be a Summer 2021 release and will be a Gamestop / EB Games Exclusive in the US and Canada. Here in the UK, and elsewhere globally, the figure should be a Fan Channel release with pre-orders being opened as of the 5th March 2021. NECA have shared a behind the scenes image of the next Ultimate Lost Tribe Predator, the Shaman Predator They have stated the image doesn't show everything included and is part of the current development. It does show two head options and dual axes alongside other accessories.

The NECA Puppet Master 2-Packs are nearing release and ahead of them arriving in stores, NECA have shared these images of the packaging design fresh from their design studio. The cases are similar to the Ultimate line on initial inspection, but open as per a book with each figure presented in a window either side of the spine. The interior of each box also include design features like the drawer illustrations that hark back to the trunk used in the movie. The box front features the design used on the original VHS of the movie, with the characters included in each set illustrated in front of the trunk with the character names underneath. Hasbro were confirmed as the new licensee for Ghostbusters in 2019, and would be the fourth major figure company to cover the line after NECA, Mattel and Diamond Select. The first wave of the Plasma Series was announced as the four Ghostbusters and figures of Dana Barrett and Gozer. In a similar process to the Marvel Legends line, Hasbro have included a Build-A-Figure, or more accurately a Build-A-Ghost, in the wave in the shape of the Vinz Clortho Terror Dog. There are 6 parts required to build your Terror Dog, spread across the 6 figures in the wave. The torso acts as the main point for assembly and includes the four sockets for the limbs to plug into and a fifth connection point at the neck that is presented as an articulated ball topped peg. The head is the hardest to get into position as this articulation wants to move as you apply pressure to click the head into place. The legs are easier to locate and click into place, you will just need to be mindful of which are left/right and which are front/hind if you did what I did and throw all the parts in a drawer as you bought them for assembly at a later stage. The Terror Dogs from the original 1984 movie were puppets or maquettes, animated with either stop motion or on set puppetry, with some variances between them depending on the angle of the shot and the prop used. The Hasbro version is a good likeness to Vinz Clortho as seen on screen, particularly in the head sculpt which includes the drooping draw and the same run of teeth within the jaw itself as we see on screen. The body includes a skin texture that feels a bit like a Rhino or an Elephant, again as seen on screen, and this is cast in a base grey colour but is missing a wash to darken the body and bring out this ridged, rough skin texture. Oddly we get a silver colouring on the ridge of the Terror Dog running from the head to the tail. I don't recall this being really visible on screen, nor was it seen on other variations of the Terror Dog from NECA, Diamond or even high end makers like Chronicle. My only thought is that this is trying to give the dog a spectral look - but it really doesn't work and detracts from the figure overall. The other paint apps across the figure include the yellow nails on each foot and the same colour used on the horns and teeth. The 'male' Vinz Clortho Terror Dog is depicted as having longer horns than Zuul, and these are represented on the figure. 3.0 We jump straight into articulation now, with no accessories included in the set. The Terror Dog has a total articulation count of 15 joints which break down as follows Head : articulated neck peg, ball joint head peg, articulated jaw Front Legs : ball joint shoulder, single joint rotating knee, ankle rocker Hind Legs : ball joint shoulder, ankle joint, ankle rocker The front legs work really well and can be moved to have the Dog stood upright, or more into a crouched pose ready to pounce. Sadly, this is not backed up by the hind legs which seem to be missing a knee joint to allow the dog to crouch further towards the floor as we see them do on screen. It also takes away any ability to lay down without sprawling out the hind legs to the back. The head movement is not restricted by the skin folds of the neck that sit well back from the joint and line up with the main body, and movement of the head is quite extensive although gaps can be left while the head is being posed and the neck section is pushed out from the torso - particularly if the dog is looking from side to side. The jaw opens a good way to give you variations of open and closed mouth posing for your display. As the jaw is opened, an inner mouth section has been sculpted to move with he jaw so not to spoil the aesthetics. 3.5 The Build-a-Ghost principle for the Hasbro Ghostbusters line is a clever one, as it will do a similar job to the Marvel Legends BAF by ensuring collectors pick up the full line to complete the larger "ghost" figure. The Vinz Clortho Terror Dog is certainly a good piece to include in this format due to the size and how desirable it would be to collectors of the line to display with Gozer or to face off against the Ghostbusters. Size and assembly are fine on the figure, and the overall sculpt - including skin texture - is very good. The figure is lacking from a darker paint wash to bring out that skin texture detail, and suffers from the silver paint they did apply. Front end articulation works well, including the articulated jaw. But the hind legs are not as expressive and held in a more upright pose with a missing joint around the knee area which would have given more scope for posing. The Vinz Clortho Terror scores a mid-range 3.5 from me, and it will be interesting to see if the 2nd version released with the Hasbro Pulse Con set with Luis Tully brings any improvements or fairs any better when I get that onto the review table. The first wave of the Plasma Series was announced as the four Ghostbusters and figures of Dana Barrett and Gozer. The Hasbro Ghostbusters are presented in a square box format with a spine down the left and the base of the window and the window then wrapping the top of the box and the right hand side. The design is that of the Ghostbusters uniform, both in colour but also with details like a zip visible and the name of the figure in the same style as the name tags of the Ghostbusters uniform. The left hand spine uses a generic, stylised, image of our four Ghostbusters against a red backdrop. There is no specific art for the figure in the box as we have seen on other lines like Marvel & Star Wars. The back of the box moves to a black finish with some hatching around the top. We have a short piece of background text under the character name. "The man with the mouth: Peter can convince (almost) anybody of (almost) anything." Beneath this is a checklist of the figures in the wave and a picture of the Build-A-Ghost, Vinz Clortho, and confirmation of what parts come with which figure. It is noticeable that the window for the figure is quite loose and not tight fitting to the box. You can almost push your fingers in the sides and round the back. The reason for this is apparent when you open the figure and find the figure tray and the window are not attached to the box and slide out as one piece. Behind them is a very nice red and black card back featuring blue prints of the Ghostbusters Proton Packs and ECTO-1. 3.5 Like all of the Hasbro Ghostbusters, the likeness for Peter Venkman is acceptable, but not a nailed on recreation of Bill Murray. A few years ago this would have been impressive as it stands, but looking at what Hasbro are doing in the same scale with Star Wars and Marvel does make it feel like Ghostbusters have been a little short changed on head sculpt. The head includes some expression rather than a flat neutral look and captures that cheeky smile and slightly raised eyebrows that Murray presents in the films. Beyond the head, and the uniform (body) is a direct re-use for all four Ghostbusters - ignoring build or stature. Although it is worth noting that the lower legs on Venkman are different with his boots under the trouser legs rather than the trousers being tucked into the boots as seen on Rey, Winston and Egon. The outfit is detailed enough with pockets and zips, but is left in the base plastic with no application to bring out the details or to weather the costume. The only décor is the name place that is legible as 'Venkman' and the decal Ghostbusters logo on the right shoulder. Colour is applied around the belt and the hosing and we also get black décor on the gloves, boots and the elbow pads. 3.0 The main accessory is the Proton pack. Again this is identical for all four Ghostbusters with the exception of the lower circular panels which see the red panel painted in different locations depending on the Ghostbuster. For Peter the red panel is the upper right circle. The pack is cast in black with blue, red and silver details picked out. It then sits on a green soft plastic strap that uncouples at one side to allow it to be added to the figure - a plug in the centre lines up and connects to the hole in Ray's back to keep it secure. Once in place the look of the figure is significantly enhanced and the proportions and where it sits are all spot on. The proton beam emitter is connected to the pack by another flexible tube and this is robust and there is no danger of it snapping like the Diamond releases. The emitter can be held in Peter's hand - one or two handed - or slung on the backpack by means of a peg and slot fitting. This is not overly tight and the emitter can pop off, but it's certainly better again than the Diamond engineering and it sits straight unlike the Mattel solution. Peter is the sole figure in the line to come with the Ghost trap accessory. This is included without the writing or the foot pedal - as was included by Diamond - and while this does drop some accuracy points, it is easier to handle and display. The trap is cast in black with silver side pieces and the hazard chevrons in yellow and black on the top doors. These are fixed, so unlike the McFarlane Stranger Things Ghostbusters trap you can open the doors. I initially went to see if I could hang the Trap on the belt, knowing from the other GB's that there was a hook in place to do this. It was therefore odd to find no hook on Peter, just a hole. And this is not a quality issue by the looks of it - every picture I've checked online is also missing the hook piece. In the end the missing hook was irrelevant as there is nothing on the trap to allow it to be hung anyway. It does however fit nicely in the hands of Peter for posing, or can simply stand on the floor on its own. The accessory score for me is more driven by what is not included with Peter. We have a brilliantly designed proton stream piece in the line, and yet that only comes with Winston. So you have four Ghostbusters and one Proton Stream among them. 3.0 Peter has a total of 20 points of articulation, mirroring more or less the joints we get on Marvel Legends, and the newer Star Wars Black Series figures. Head : ball joint neck Body : ball joint waist Arms : ball joint shoulder, butterfly shoulder, bicep swivel, double joint elbows, wrist pivot Legs : ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double joint knees, ankle rocker The inclusion of the butterfly shoulder while subtle, adds a wider range of movement for posing with the equipment - supported by double joint elbows. The bicep swivel does have to be engaged with some poses and that will throw the cut of the sleeve. The waist ball joint is not as mobile a it could be, but allows you to lean Peter's torso back or forth as the pose requires. The legs will kneel, just about, and crouch and can also take wider stances for firing and action posing. All the joints are secure and tightly ratcheted and Peter stands fine on his own. I think it says a lot about a line in how popular it seems to be in stores and how quick fans are to pick up the figures. In the case of the Hasbro Ghostbusters, it is sad to say that not only are these peg-warming and being discounted - but even as a hard-core Ghostbusters fan, I have meandered my way in buying these over the past 6-months rather than being eager to get them all at once. The issues with Peter Venkman are pretty much the same as the other 3 main characters in that the head sculpt is acceptable, and not blow away like we see on other lines. And that the body - a re-use on all of the main characters - is missing a paint app or two to really bring it to life. Hasbro have also short-changed fans on the key accessory, the proton stream. So much so that I cant even display the one I do have with Winston as it just looks odd that the other 3 don't have them. I think if this line is going to survive it needs to be better supported with accessories like the proton stream and more generosity with things like the PKE meter's and Ghost Traps. "The heart of the team: Ray's ready and more-than-willing to bust some ghosts" Beneath this is a checklist of the figures in the wave and a picture of the Build-A-Ghost, Vinz Clortho, and confirmation of what parts come with which figure. It is noticeable that the window for the figure is quite loose and not tight fitting to the box. You can almost push your fingers in the sides and round the back. The reason for this is apparent when you open the figure and find the figure tray and the window are not attached to the box and slide out as one piece. Behind them is a very nice red and black card back featuring blue prints of the Ghostbusters Proton Packs and ECTO-1. Paint & Sculpt 3.0 Looking first at the head and we have a passing likeness to Dan Aykroyd, but nothing like the sort of likeness accuracy we are seeing in other Hasbro lines who are knocking it out of the park (see my recent Logan & Xavier review). This is certainly better than the older Mattel and Diamond figures and it does use face print tech - but it certainly isn't a nailed on finish. The head also suffers from the hair execution which is fine in terms of height over the forehead but perhaps too central in the shaping and two recessed at either side. The Ghostbuster uniform body is the same for all four of the Wave 1 Ghostbusters and is cast in the cream base colour with no other paint apps to add either texture or weathering, which is a shame. Decals are applied on the right shoulder with the Ghostbusters logo and on the nameplate which clearly reads STANTZ. The belt is an individual cast piece in a softer plastic. It is produced in grey with black painted compartments and then with two trailing pipes - one black that plugs back into a compartment on the belt, and one yellow that plug into the left leg. There is a hook for holding other equipment - although none is provided as you will see in the next section. Accessories 3.0 Ray's first accessory are his Ecto-Goggles. These are unique to Ray in the line and are cast in a green soft plastic with silver paint eyepieces. The fit over the head is very tight and you have to position the eyepiece first then stretch the strap over the hair and into position. While this guarantees a tight fit - it also puts a lot of strain on the strap which may result in longevity issues. The main accessory is the Proton pack. Again this is identical for all four Ghostbusters with the exception of the lower circular panels which see the red panel painted in different locations depending on the Ghostbuster. For Ray the red panel is the bottom left circle. The pack is cast in black with blue, red and silver details picked out. Considering the line uses the same body four times in a six figure wave, there has to be some added value from throwing in these pieces with all the figures or perhaps at least a trap with each of them to hang on that belt hook that otherwise is left empty and redundant. Articulation 4.0 Ray has a total of 20 points of articulation, mirroring more or less the joints we get on Marvel Legends, and the newer Star Wars Black Series figures. Head : ball joint neck Body : ball joint waist Arms : ball joint shoulder, butterfly shoulder, bicep swivel, double joint elbows, wrist pivot Legs : ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double joint knees, ankle rocker The inclusion of the butterfly shoulder while subtle, adds a wider range of movement for posing with the equipment - supported by double joint elbows. The bicep swivel does have to be engaged with some poses and that will throw the cut of the sleeve. The waist ball joint is not as mobile a it could be, but allows you to lean Ray's torso back or forth as the pose requires. The legs will kneel, just about, and crouch and can also take wider stances for firing and action posing. All the joints are secure and tightly ratcheted and Peter stands fine on his own. Summary This is the third time I've reviewed this Ghostbusters buck figure (with a fourth to go when I finish the wave), and while the body is fine in terms of articulation it is lacking in paint application for some weathering. When you reuse a body so often - especially in the same wave - you need to nail the head sculpt and other accessories and sadly the Ghostbusters line from Hasbro is failing on both fronts. None of the head sculpts are of the same quality and likeness as are being executed by the Marvel team and the accessory pack in are stingy to say the least. Had we given Ray a proton stream FX piece and a Ghost Trap, and had we perhaps added another layer of wash to the outfit then we would be talking about a much more value for money release. As it stands, Ray for me is nothing more than just an above average figure and scores 3.0 in total. It was inevitable that following on from the Black Series debut of Bad Batch figures Crosshairs and Hunter that the rest of Clone Force 99 would be on their way in 6 inch format. The next to be announced is Wrecker who will be released in the Deluxe format in the Autumn of 2021. Series 1 of the NECA Defenders of the Earth figures are already landing in the US via Walmart stores. NECA have now shared these promo images for the 1st Series figures of Flash Gordon, Ming the Merciless and The Phantom, with Zuffy. "Based on the characters from the beloved 80s cartoon, Defenders of the Earth, which brought Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician, and The Phantom together to battle against evil supervillain Ming the Merciless! To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the classic cartoon and toy line, NECA is proud to present these 7" scale action figures. The Series 1 assortment includes Flash Gordon, The Phantom, and Ming the Merciless. Each comes with character specific accessories in collector-friendly window box packaging." These are not exclusive items and will be on general sale from March onwards. UK customers may need to wait a few weeks extra for them to cross over to UK stores. Series 2 will feature Lothar and Mandrake the Magician, with more figures planned from the franchise beyond that.

In 2017 Marvel released Thor : Ragnarok and as part of the Marvel Legends support for this latest MCU movie was a wave of Ragnarok characters including Thor, Loki and Hela. The Build-a-Figure for the wave was Hulk from the Gladiatorial scenes in the movie. To construct Hulk you'd need all the parts from the 6 figures in the wave, this meant the purchase of the three comic book characters also - Ares, Unworthy Thor and Lady Thor. The BAF would go on to be re-released in 2018 spread across 7 figures this time in a 'Best of the MCU' wave made up of figures from both Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Ragnarok Hulk follows a fairly standard format for BAF figures with a central torso, head, arms and legs. Supporting parts include the hammer, axe and helmet. If you are purchasing the 2018 version you will also get the shoulder armour separately. Assembly is easy enough, with a plug and click mechanism on each of the joints. The legs prove the biggest challenge, with a wider peg on the hips that takes a bit of pressure to clip into place. 4.0 Gladiator Hulk stands an impressive 9.25 inches high, measuring to the crest of his helmet, and is a hefty piece of plastic in hand. The body is cast in a green base plastic and left unpainted other than the white war paint down the right hand side, which is applied to look crudely painted. The armour pieces are detailed including a blue metallic finish on most with various darker brushed steel elements and some purple colouring through the wrist bracers and the skirt section. The helmet looks oversized sadly, but is removable to reveal a fully sculpted Hulk head underneath. This is a new head, but while the other figures in the wave benefitted from the newly launched face print tech - there is no such application for Hulk. The only facial feature with any paint is the eyes and eyebrows. Had this been released a year previously in the MCU line it would have been fine, lined up against a face print tech Hela, Loki or Thor it looks out of place. 3.0 Thor comes with two of the weapons he uses in the arena scenes on Saakar. The first is an axe, and it arrives warped down the length of the shaft - an issue that seems to exist in some degree on all of them if you look at other photos of the figure. The head of the axe is well cast and angular with a nice rusty wash applied. This paint app is not extended past the head and the shaft is left a plain silver with a textured section for the grip. This grip is too big to fit in either of Hulk's hands so you either have to have Hulk hold the slimmer part of the shaft in a loose grip - or heat up the hands to force the axe into position. The second weapon is the hammer, and take all the issues from weapon 1 and apply them to weapon 2. The shaft is again warped, and the grip too big for Hulk's hand. The paint exists only on the head and in the case of the hammer is applied with less coverage so it doesn't quite give as good a rusted look overall. The helmet is technically a 3rd accessory and is cast in a softer plastic with an added upper crest that is really well sculpted and painted to look like red horse hair plume. The helmet is also very well detailed, including internally with plates and rivets inside as well as out. The crude white war paint extends onto the helmet and lines up with the markings on Hulk's head when its worn. The issue is sizing unfortunately and not only does it look too big, but the overall fit is very loose to Hulk's head resulting in you able to see daylight between the side of the helmet and the side of the head from some angles. My preference would have been a second head option - one with helmet and one without - mirroring how Diamond Select tackled the same figure. 2.0 Despite his size, Hulk is very well articulated with a total of 19 points of articulation. Being a BAF, several of the connection points are also joints but this does not seem to have impeded or disadvantaged the figure in any way. Head : ball joint neck with pivot Body : torso ball joint, waist swivel Arms : ball joint shoulder, bicep swivel, single joint elbow, wrist pivot Legs : ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double joint knees, ankle rocker The upper arm articulation is really good on the right arm, while the left is held in check by the over shoulder armour that stops any movement of the arm above the shoulder. The single joint elbows do not bend as much as I'd like them to for fighting posing and the wrist pivot is essentially blocked in also by the armour leaving the hands the ability to rotate only. When you consider the hands cant quite grip the weaponry fully, any arm movements with weapons in place will cause the weapons to slip around in the hand grip and this does cause a bit of frustration. The legs will move within the skirt section, although the hips will not quite move enough for any kneeling poses - not that Hulk ever kneels. The legs will support wider battle stances, with the ankle rocker adjusting to keep Hulk's weight balanced in a number of positions. 3.0 As a key part of the MCU, I am surprised we are yet to get a truly impressive Ruffalo Hulk from any of his movie appearances. The early ones are simply too basic and a touch small, while the newer ones like this Ragnarok Hulk and the subsequent Endgame Hulk are not executed as well as we'd have liked. Ragnarok Hulk has been my slowest BAF build to date considering the first part of it was obtained in 2017 with Loki who was one of my first Marvel Legends MCU purchases as I shifted away from Diamond Select and into the web of Hasbro. I completed the set in January 2021 as I finally picked up the right arm - a 4 year wait for poor old Bruce to be sat in my drawer in pieces. The Gladiator Hulk ticks some boxes in terms of the height and bulk of the figure and the well executed armour and war paint. I do not understand why the figure failed to get the same face print tech as that applied on Hela, Thor and Loki from the same wave which would have enhanced the figures overall looks. The accessories are all poor. The helmet looks the part, but is ill-fitting and is far too big. The weaponry is bowed and bent and looks half painted and cheap. It also doesn't easily fit into Hulk's hands without some heat and force and that is frustrating when you are trying to pose Hulk. For such an iconic look for Hulk, it is a shame this figure promises quite a lot and falls short in some areas that on paper are easy to fix. I hope that perhaps this is a figure Hasbro may consider a revisit on in Deluxe format in the future - giving it a face print makeover and some better executed accessories, at which point it would score higher than the slightly disappointing 3.0 that I am scoring it today. As has been teased for a while, the next Toony Terror reveal from NECA will be a more deluxe release in the shape of Bruce the Shark and Quint from Jaws. Looking at the images, the set includes a standard Toony Terror figure of Quint, complete with machete and spear. Bruce the Shark will be done as individual pieces that are cut to make him look partially submerged in water. The main element is the head and jaws, while a second piece for the fin. Announced in January 2021, and building on the format established for Mando Mondays, Disney are running an extensive 52 week set of weekly mixed media reveals called 'Marvel Must Haves'. For the first few weeks the reveals have been limited to T-Shirts, generic merchandise like drinking bottles or keyrings, and quite a lot of Funko Pop! releases. As we move toward the end of Wandavision, the 'Marvel Must Haves' following Episode 8 of have revealed revealed a new Agatha Harkness Funko Pop! as well as Funko Pop! Project Cataract Vision. This new version of The Vision, in all white, will also get a Marvel Legends release later this year.
