Mezco have announced that Popeye is the next license to get the 5Point makeover with a deluxe set of figures to be released. The set will include Popeye, Olive Oyl, Bluto and Rough House along with a diorama of Rough House's cafe to display them in. The figures will each feature 5 points of articulation and be sculpted in the cartoon style. Both Popeye and Bluto will have swap out arms, with Popeye also coming with a can of spinach. Rough House comes with a frying pan and spatula. The set is up for pre-order now at a US RRP of $55, the set will ship at some point between August and October 2021. Well blow me down! Popeye and his nautical crew are joining the 5 Points family – complete with character-specific accessories and a playset designed after Rough House’s Cafe! Ah ga ga ga! Following the announcement of the new Star Wars Black Series Publishing figures, Star Wars fans were quick to identify and point out that the figure listed by Hasbro as Carnor Jax was actually Kir Kanos from the same Crimson Empire graphic novel. This error has now been acknowledged by Hasbro on the US Hasbro Pulse page with an insertion of text that confirms this figure as Kir Kanos. It does however seem too late for the packaging to be updated for this figure

As part of the 50th Anniversary of Lucasfilm, Hasbro have announced a special line of Star Wars Black Series 6 inch figures based on the published world of Star Wars over the years. The line features four characters taken from iconic books or comics and packs them in a closed box that recreates the original publication cover on the front, and that then opens to reveal the figure underneath with more artwork inside the inner panel The four figure wave is listed as a Spring 2021 release. The first figure is Darth Maul from the Sith Apprentice novel from 2012 and features a shirtless Darth Maul during his period of Sith training with Darth Sidious. The figure looks to use parts from the original Darth Maul figure and comes with the dual lightsaber accessory. The figure is of course an Emperors Royal Guard as this figure was originally sculpted to include the Crimson Empire armour under the red robes. The red armour remains with a black bodysuit now underneath. The robes are swapped out for more of a cape and this is dual coloured with a red outer colour and a purple inner lining. The weapon is a new piece, a dual bladed staff. There is a glaring issue here that in actual fact this configuration of the armour is actually Kir Kanos from the same novel. Carnor Jax had more black in his armour and helmet and is depicted with a darker cloak, often black. Update : Hasbro have acknowledged this error and confirmed this is Kir Kanos but it seems it is too late to adjust the box text. The book is most famous for the introduction of Grand Admiral Thrawn, but the Black Series release is the Luke Skywalker from the series as featured on the book cover. This is a repaint of the Dagobah Training Luke and it features the Green Saber. Also included, as a nod to Thrawn, is a Ysalamir which looks like it is very much made to wrap around the neck of the existing Grand Admiral figure. In a surprise reveal, it seems Bandai will be releasing a Stranger Things figure in the shape of Jim Hopper from the upcoming Season 4. The figure is listed on Big Bad Toy Store under the Bandai Spirits line and will be a November 2021 release. This is Hopper as seen in the recent teaser trailer and features Jim in his prison uniform and it comes with the hammer he is using while working on the railroad. He is 7 inches in scale, which puts him in scale with the older McFarlane Stranger Things figures. Netflix series Stranger Things has been viewed by over 60 million accounts since its season 1 debut in 2016, with the long-awaited fourth season of this global megahit planned for exclusive streaming on Netflix. The 3rd wave of the Diamond Select Lord of the Rings figures have gone live on Big Bad Toy Store for an August 2021 release. The 3rd wave is made up of Aragorn and a Moria Orc. They will come with the final parts of Sauron to complete the build-a-figure, with the other parts coming in Wave 1 Gimli & Legolas, and Wave 2 Frodo and Ring Wraith. Aragorn is pictured with no accessories other than a quiver of arrows - but the blurb for the wave does indicate the figures do come with weaponry. The Moria Orc includes alternative heads so the figure can be army built into varying versions. The Orc comes with a spear weapon. The Evil one has risen! The McFarlane DC Multiverse 7 inch figure of unmasked Flashpoint Batman has been listed on the Target website in the US. The figure will include two handguns and the Amazon sword. The usual collectors card and display stand will also be included. The figure uses much of the original Flashpoint Batman from 2020. The head sculpt on this is new, as is the inclusion of the Amazon sword. While the first Flashpoint Batman was a Target exclusive, this version - although listed on Target first - is a general release in April 2021. In an attempt to alter the course of history, The Flash travelled back in time to save his mother’s life. This, however, resulted in the crisis-level event known as Flashpoint, rippling across time and changing the world as we knew it for the worse. In this alternate timeline, Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne survived their deadly encounter in Crime Alley years ago, but their young son Bruce was killed instead. Driven by the death of his son, Thomas became Batman—though, this Dark Knight is far deadlier and more ruthless than the vigilante hero his son would have become.
