Wenwu is one of four MCU figures released in April 2021 as part of the wider Marvel Legends Mr. Hyde BAF wave. He is packed in the usual Marvel Legends box with illustrated side panels for the character, with the same image repeated on the reverse of the box alongside a very brief, and minimal spoilery, text overview of Wenwu - which references the MCU and the role of The Ten Rings across the whole MCU saga to date. "Shang-Chi's father Wenwu is the feared leader of the Ten Rings Organization, which has lurked in the shadows of the MCU since the very beginning" The figure presents one of the best likenesses amongst the Shang-Chi figures, with an excellent likeness to actor Tony Leung, utilising face print tech to very good effect. The costume is also well executed with a black textured suit overlaid with a blue shoulder sash and pauldron and a skirt section with a blue geometric printed pattern. Each forearm features 5 ringed sections, each painted in bronze - there are a couple of issues here with paint where the bronze has not covered the base skin colour fully. Wenwu is armed with a Hook Sword that is cast in a metallic silver colour with a painted black handle. The piece is nicely detailed and arrives straight and un-warped. It fits into a pair of gripping hands provided with Wenwu. The fit on these is quite tight so will need a bit of teasing to get the weapon situated. You also receive also an alternative pair of clenched fist hands and a third set that represents a tiger strike pose. Wenwu is articulated with 19 points of articulation, as is standard on male Marvel Legend bodies. He does miss out on the T-joint torso & rotating waist, instead of relying on a single torso ball joint for upper body movement. This is actually sufficient and gives plenty of scope for action posing. I notice that the two-part neck joint we see on the Star Wars Black Series has been used on Wenwu with a joint at both the base of the neck and where it meets the head. Elbows and knees remain double-jointed with the knees pinless which helps aesthetics. The skirt section does restrict the lower leg posing a little but all-in-all, Wenwu is a very dynamic figure with lots of posing options. Wenwu is probably my favourite figure from the Shang-Chi figures released to date. While the other figures are great, Wenwu exceeds in all areas. The figure delivers with a fantastic sculpt, and a layered and detailed outfit that benefits from the onscreen design vs the plainer look of Shang-Chi himself. Wenwu is armed with a wicked-looking weapon, has a good selection of alternative hands, and articulation that makes the most of his martial arts background. I wonder how popular this one will be after the film debuts and as we learn more about Wenwu as a character within the MCU. Super7 have announced a 2nd wave of their Disney animated movie Ultimates figures. The first wave is in production and due to ship next month with figures of King John, Pinocchio, and Mickey Mouse. The second wave will start with two figures from Alice in Wonderland. The first is Alice herself, who comes with three head options, miniature Alice, her kitten Dinah and some alternative hands along with the 'Eat Me' cake and 'Drink Me' bottle. Alice is joined by the Mad Hatter who comes with two head options and a raft of Tea Party accessories including the Tea Pot, Cups, Cake, and his pocket watch. The wave then moves to Robin Hood and brings the titular hero into the line to face off against the Series 1 King John. Robin comes with two heads and a bow and arrow. There are then additional hands, wings, soft goods tunic and alternative Stork head so Robin can be changed into the Stork disguise he uses in the movie. An additional bow and arrow are supplied for this look. While Series 1 was only three figures, Series 2 follows the usual Ultimates program of 4-figures, and the fourth is Hyacinth Hippo from Fantasia. Hyacinth has three head options, two coloured tutu's with matching ballet shoes, and a selection of accessories & hands including a make-up mirror and compact as well as a bunch of grapes. Like all Super7 Ultimates, there is a pre-order window first which runs through until Monday the 7th of June. Orders placed in this window will then determine the production numbers for the wave. You can order direct from Super7, or specialist stores will also take preorders as they will be placing bulk orders themselves. The Civil Warrior is the suit that Steve Rogers builds following the events of Civil War and is a character that features in the Marvel Gamerverse 'Contest of Champions' videogame. He was released as a Marvel Legends figure in April 2021 as part of the Mr. Hyde BAF wave. He is the sole Gamerverse release in the set which also features a comic-book AI Tony Stark and the Shang-Chi MCU figures. As a Gamerverse release, the usual black of the Marvel Legends box is swapped for a bright white and the Marvel Legends logo is replaced with the Gamerverse version. The figure is presented against a yellow card back and the nameplate is presented in purple. An illustrated Civil Warrior is depicted on the side panels and on the back of the box, along with a brief overview "In an alternate Earth ravaged by civil war, Captain America assumes the mantle of Civil Warrior" I love the design of Civil Warrior from Contest of Champions with its hybrid of Tony Stark's Iron-Man armour and the colour scheme and iconography of Captain America. The figure brings this to life with a crisp sculpt that includes all of those elements, including the Iron-Man styled helmet with the blue-painted hood with 'A' logo. The body features a central ice-blue star, trimmed in red, where the Arc Reactor would normally be. And we then have a silver mid-section, arms and lower legs. The upper legs take on the fish scale texture of the normal Captain America armour, and the red pinstripe. And we have Cap's brown leather belt as a contrast to the blue & silver design of the suit. Civil Warrior is packed with a version of the Captain America shield, now with the central star replaced with an arc reactor. The outer rings are painted red and silver with plenty of paint scratches and scuffs added on the red parts. The back of the shield has a wrist clip rather than straps, and this simply clips onto the wrist of either arm. The fit is tight, which does mean the shield is very secure, but will also mean that the clip is likely not to last indefinitely as the stress will cause it to snap as we've seen on other shields of this design. The clip also rotates to present a plug which I initially thought would line up to a socket at the back of the figure to allow the shield to be mounted on Cap's back. Sadly, Hasbro has not gone down that route and therefore the plug on the back of the shield appears to have no function at all - it doesn't even sit in either of the hands all that well? Articulation is spot on with a 19 point articulation count and all of the joints being fully mobile which allows for plenty of posing options. My only gripe was at the elbows as they do not fully straighten due to the shape of the amour piece. All in all, Civil Warrior is a great figure that could have been awesome with a few tweaks to the shield so it could have been mounted on Cap's back. I guess the only other thing Civil Warrior will have to contend with is his source material, with figures from the Marvel Gamerverse seemingly less desirable as the comic book figures, or some of the MCU characters? Bishop is joining the X-Men One:12 Collective from Mezco, with preorders for the figure now live ahead of a release at some point between November 2021 and January 2022. Bishop will feature three head options - two with hair and the third with the beard, but with a bald head. The figure will come with a variety of hands, providing options for Bishop to hold the variety of included accessories. We have an Energy Blaster, Energy Cannon with three magazines, and a scimitar. Each weapon fits into a provided holster or sheath. Two energy FX pieces - one smoke and one a blast - are cast in translucent plastic and these attach to the hands. You also get a detonator accessory and three grenades. The armoured Bishop is also packed with a soft goods red cloak which has built-in posing wires. The usual stand is also included. Bishop, The Last X-Man, joins the One:12 Collective! The One:12 Collective Bishop is prepped and ready for battle, outfitted in an X-Men issued suit with fortified chest armor, multiple holsters to hold his heavy artillery, and a removable paludamentum that drapes freely over his shoulder. Included are three head portraits – a scowl, an angry stare, and a modern bald head portrait, allowing for a multitude of distinct looks. The master of energy manipulation packs enough firepower to get the job done solo, complete with an energy cannon, energy blaster, energy FX that affix to his interchangeable hands, and much more. Finding himself in an alternate timeline, Bishop soon realizes Earth now resembles the middle ages - primitive villages and clans have replaced cities and the fight for survival has replaced law and order. We have four new figures listed on Big Bad Toy Store for pre-order for the Mattel Jurassic World 6-inch Amber Collection. As seems to be the norm now, there are no images, just a text description. We can look forward to two new dinosaur releases, with a Dimorphodon 2-pack and another Raptor, this time from Jurassic Park III. The more exciting news is that two more 6-inch human characters are also incoming as part of the wave. They will expand the roster from the original Jurassic Park, with releases of Ellie Sattler and John Hammond. The wave is due in June 2021 so we should expect images in the next few weeks. Three new McFarlane DC Multiverse 7-inch figures have been revealed courtesy of a number of listings on Far East websites including FJToystore. We have a Doctor Fate figure, complete with a flight stand. There is a variant Flash figure, the Hot Pursuit white outfit. The Flash also comes with speed-force FX pieces. The third figure is a Gold Label variant which will be exclusive to Walmart in the US. This is a variant of the Red Hood figure, now with an unmasked head. We await a full formal release with release dates and blurb from McFarlane. But we would normally expect a 3-month wait or so once official images have been released. The Hasbro Star Wars team hosted a special May the 4th, Star Wars Day, live steam unveiling a number of new Star Wars products across the Vintage Collection and Black Series lines. The Bad Batch featured heavily in the reveals, with two new 6-inch Black Series figures joining the line. These will not be general releases, and are exclusive to Walmart in the US, while in the UK and elsewhere outside North America they will be available via the Fan Channel into specialist retailers - and this includes Hasbro Pulse in the UK. Up first is a Clone Shocktrooper who have been a staple of Star Wars Prequel properties for some time and who also feature in The Bad Batch. The figure uses the new Clone Trooper body with added commander parts including a new Pauldron piece and the usual Clone Trooper blasters. The other reveals include a new character not yet seen in the show and confirmation of an in-development figure who features heavily in the first episode, hence the spoiler tags. He is likely to be a protagonist in the show, and he utilises the existing Imperial Officer body with a new head sculpt and blaster, and he will also come with the MSE Droid that has been exclusive to one of the Disney Parks sets up to this point. It was also confirmed that in the pipeline for release is a Black Series figure of Omega. This will be a 2022 release, and there are no images as yet - expect to see these in the Summer or later. The Gaming Greats line for 2021 has moved into the new Galaxy Collection packaging and we already have new figures of Cal Kestis and an Imperial Rocket Trooper incoming. Joining them are two new figures from Jedi : Fallen Order. We have an Imperial Flametrooper, featuring a new helmet and armour detailing on the existing Imperial Snowtrooper. These troops were seen as part of Imperial Forces throughout Fallen Order. And then from the Dathomir sequences, a new figure of a Nightbrother Warrior. He comes with a melee weapon and does appear to re-use some parts from the new bare chest Maul figure. There will be a new helmet in the 1:1 roleplay line with a new variant of The Mandalorian helmet, now with a Deathwatch paint job and features, including a moving rangefinder as well as light-up internal HUD display. The helmet is a Gamestop US exclusive and sold via specialists elsewhere including Hasbro Pulse in the UK alongside the other usual stockists. The Hasbro Star Wars team hosted a special May the 4th, Star Wars Day, live steam unveiling a number of new Star Wars products across the Vintage Collection and Black Series lines. The 3.75-inch Vintage Collection news started with three General Release reveals, starting with the general release of the Offworld Jawa from The Mandalorian (the chieften comes with the HasLab Razor Crest). We are also getting a single carded release for Arc Trooper Echo, as seen in last years 3-pack. And finally a Teebo, who will come with two head-dress options. Echo and the Jawa are Summer 2021 releases, while Teebo will follow in the Autumn. There are then three further releases under the Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary badge. These are part of the Hasbro intention to recreate the original 96 figures in the modern Vintage line. We have figures of the Death Star Droid, Luke Skywaker from Endor and a Tusken Raider. These figures are Walmart exclusives in the US and available via specialists in the UK including Hasbro Pulse. This trio will be Summer 2021 releases. It was also confirmed that the Vote from the Vault winner as the Republic Trooper, who will be re-released in the Vintage collection and who will be upgraded with face technology.
