Disney Store in the US has put a brand new Diamond Select Loki comic-book figure up on their site, in stock and ready for dispatch. The new Select figure is the first appearance of a comic book Loki in the 7-inch scale and is timed to coincide with his MCU's counterpart arriving on Disney+ The set features a 7-inch articulated Loki, complete with his sword, knife, and scepter. He also features a removable coat with two different sets of arms included for two differing looks for your display. You also get a non-articulated Kid Loki (Loki Laufeyson) figure included, he stands at 5-inches tall. The two Loki's are packed into the usual Diamond Select Marvel blister card and are exclusive to the Disney Store. The listing is already live for the US Disney Store, we'd expect other territories including the UK to have him listed within the next week or so. You'll find double trouble with Loki the Lord of Mischief in this two-figure set featuring adult and child versions of the character. This item was provided free of charge to us by Hasbro and their PR company for review and photography. The views in this review remain my own. While I was a huge G.I. Joe, or rather Action Force, fan growing up I have been very selective over my purchases in the Classified Series. I look for figures that bring me some level of nostalgia and whose design I do like - and the newly released Cobra Infantry is one that presses both the nostalgia and design button. The Cobra Infantry is part of the 3rd General Wave of the Classified Series and is number 24 in the line. We have the usual blue outer box, with a red Cobra card back and coloring on the art panels front and to the right-hand side. The back of the box uses a simple montage image of the Classified Joes and the opportunity is still not being taken to revisit the old Character Bio cards that were a feature on the original carded figures. The Cobra Infantry is essentially the same figure as the Exclusive Cobra Trooper released in 2020 and is cast predominantly in a blue plastic with the inset textured panels of the uniform picked out in a darker blue. A red Cobra symbol is actually part of the sculpt and is neatly painted. Other detail which could have been painted, such as the straps on the combat vest and the boots, are left in the base colour. The Trooper features a generic head sculpt with a black mask covering all but the eyes. This exposed section of the face is painted over the base colour of the head (blue) and that means some of the skin colour can, and does, bleed onto the rest f the head. You are then supplied with a helmet piece that sits neatly over the top to finish the Infantry look, although the figure looks just as good without the helmet. The Cobra Infantry is well kitted out, although not as well as his Exclusive Counterpart. Missing from the general release are the larger rifle, the goggles and the red arm sash. Considering the price for the exclusive and the general release are the same - it does leave you feeling a little shortchanged. All the Cobra Infantry weapons are cast in black with no other paint apps. We start with a combat knife that fits into either hand and then slots into the upper holster on the vest when not in use. The two handguns fit in either hand also, both hands having a trigger finger. Again, holsters are provided when not n use - one to the side on the right and one round the back on the left. Finally, we have an automatic rifle of sorts and this can be held right or left-handed, with sufficient articulation for two-handed posing. Like many of the Classified figures, and like the older Joe's themselves, the rifle can be slung on the back by plugging it into either of the lower two holes on the figures back. The upper hole appears to be a different size and would likely fit a backpack or similar - allowing parts from other figures to be swapped around the Joe's and Cobra Soldiers as we did in the 1980s. Articulation on the Classified Series is excellent and exceeds even the Marvel Legends line from Hasbro in terms of joints and options. The Cobra Infantry has 23 joints that can be seen and used. I suspect there may be a further joint under the combat vest but that cannot be used due to the shape and bulk of the vest leaving a waist swivel as the main point of movement on the torso. Upper articulation includes a double joint neck that can be moved at the base and where it connects to the head. The arms start with butterfly shoulders and also includes biceps swivels and double joint elbows - allowing a full range of posing options, even allowing him to be posed drawing any of his weapons from their holsters, including the knife. The legs include double joint knees and a swivel at both the thigh and the boot cut. The Infantry Trooper can kneel, and sit down, and is very stable and easy to stand across a number of stances in between either neutral or more dynamic. The Cobra Infantry is a fantastic army builder and I am so glad Hasbro has got it out into general release after the initial Cobra Trooper and the Cobra Viper were held as exclusives. For the same price as the exclusive Trooper, you do get fewer accessories in this set which is a shame and it would have been nice for Hasbro to add some other value if they didn't want to directly replicate the content of the exclusive - another rifle for example. The Cobra Infantry is a brilliantly articulated figure with a fantastic sculpt, bringing the Cobra Trooper into a modern-day military setting without losing the familiarity of the original. The paint is applied well to create the two-tone blue, with just a small issue around the painting of the exposed face. The Bad Batch is the latest addition to the Star Wars Universe, and Hasbro have already opened the Bad Batch Galaxy Collection series for the Star Wars Black Series with three figures launching the new collection as part of Wave 4, released in the Spring of 2021. The Bad Batch uses a deep red accent colour that is used as a border on the packaging and on the side artwork which in this case features The Elite Squad Trooper with weapon raised. These art panels connect together for a wider montage. The Elite Trooper follows on directly from Crosshairs and is #3 in the line. The rear of the box gives us another look at the artwork as well as providing a short piece of background text that reads "After the formation of the Galactic Empire, a small group of highly skilled enlisted recruits is tasked with neutralising anti-Imperial insurgents throughout the galaxy as means to prove the effectiveness of conscripted soldiers." Boxed collectors may not be happy that the Elite Squad Trooper numbering does mess up the ability to have the main Bad Batch all aligned in a row on the montage as the Elite Squad Trooper does interject between Hunter & Crosshairs, and Wrecker and Tech. The Elite Squad Trooper is a hybrid figure made up of the upper body and helmet from the 2020 Clonetrooper body, with the legs of the original 2014 version. The reasoning behind this is unclear, although the combination of the two bodies is not noticeable or does it cause any issues with the overall look and proportions of the figure. The armoured panels are all cast in a glossy dark grey, allowing a contrast to the usual black bodysuit underneath. The helmet, like all the new 2020 bodied Clones, is a separate piece glued over an unpainted head. While this can lead to warping, I had no issues on my Elite Trooper. The helmet has a green painted visor, and further paint apps around the mouth and the breathers. If you look at some of the screengrabs for Bad Batch I think the helmet should have some slightly lighter grey elements across the crown, but they have not been added. After the helmet, the only other paint applied on the body is where the base black of the knee pads had to be painted in grey. There are plenty of little details that could have been picked out or enhanced with paint such as the components / communicator on the wrist or the belt. The Elite Squad Trooper comes with a single weapon, the DC-15S blaster as seen in the previous Clone Trooper releases. The weapon is the one we see when the Elite Squad Troopers first appear in 'The Replacements'. The blaster is cast in black with no paint apps, although there is plenty of detail in the sculpt which would have looked excellent picked out with a metallic drybrush. It is a shame that the Elite Squad Trooper could not have come with the flamethrower we see used in 'The Replacements', although I would expect this is not the last we have seen of this particular Trooper figure. Articulation is improved thanks to the hybrid body with the legs benefitting from the older Clone Trooper double joint knees. The overall articulation count is 19 joints in total which include the dual joint neck and butterfly shoulder joints. Neither the new or old Clone legs could kneel nor sit, instead you will need to utilise standing poses and thankfully they do this really well. Even the weaker ankle rocker that did plague some of the early clone bodies has been resolved on this run. The arms work fine, with the butterfly shoulders opening up the range a little more with two-handed weapon grips well within range as is the ability to offer up the blaster to the helmet for sighted shots. The Elite Squad Trooper is an interesting bridge between the Clone Wars and the full-on Imperial Stormtroopers and therefore it is good to have them represented as a figure. The look is translated well from the screen, other than the grey variations of the helmet which are subtle on the show but not applied at all on the figure. The charcoal grey armour contrasts well on the black of the undersuit so the figure is not a single tone like the Deathtrooper for example. The figure would have benefitted from a few extra paint apps to smaller details on the armour like the belt and communications array at the wrist. It would have also been nice to include a second weapon such as the flamethrower unit. Iron Studios have shared details of their next DC Art Scale 1/10 statue, the deluxe Aquaman. The statue features a classic comic book iteration of Aquaman riding out of the waves, while the tentacles of the Kraken reach out to grab him. The statue will be a 2022 release, arriving in the 2nd Quarter (April-June) The fury of the ocean waves is represented on a base, where the powerful tentacles of a mythological Kraken, submissive to the command of their master, emerge. Like the Greek god Poseidon, he advances between the waters indicating his objective with a cybernetic prosthesis, shaped like a harpoon, which replaced his left hand lost in combat. Coming in 2022 from Medicom is the MAFEX Jean Grey X-Men figure, based on the Jim Lee era of the X-Men comics. The figure features Jean in her yellow and blue outfit, and she is presented with three head options, a number of alternative hands, and some psychic energy FX pieces. The next Medicom MAFEX release in their Dark Knight Returns series has been confirmed as Superman. The 6-inch scale Superman will be an early 2022 release and features two head options, swap-out hand options, a Kryptonite arrow, and a soft goods cape with posing wire. Dark Knight Returns Superman is number 161 in the MAFEX line and is scheduled for a release in March 2022. Todd McFarlane's Spawn is making a big come-back to the McFarlane 7-inch collectors line. Having initially been released as part of the Mortal Kombat series of figures, the first Spawn standalone release was the Mandarin Spawn who has already spawned two further variants. Todd has shared this image of a set of new Spawn figures coming later this year. We have the Gunslinger Spawn, Redeemer, Raven Spawn, the Clown, and the Violator. We had been told, via a Diamond Select presentation in April 2021, that the 4th Series of Diamond's Select Lord of the Rings figures would be made up of just Gandalf the Grey and Gollum. Just a month later, the news from Diamond is that the Series 4 lineup will be Gandalf the Grey with Gollum and a newly revealed Uruk-hai Orc. Gandalf will come with his staff and sword, Glamdring. He will be wearing his grey robes as seen in Fellowship of the Ring. Gollum will be packed in with Gandalf in lieu, we believe, of any BAF parts in this wave. The Uruk-hai will feature multiple heads and weapon options, making it an army builder - although there are no images of the alternative heads or weapons included. The Series 4 figures are scheduled for an October 2021 release. The journey continues, with another series of detailed action figures based on the Lord of the Rings film trilogy! Gandalf the Grey makes his debut in the line, with his staff and his sword Glamdring, and the other figure in the assortment is a customizable Uruk-hai Orc, including multiple interchangeable heads and weapons. It is safe to say the original release of the Marvel Legends Infinity War Captain America did not do Cap justice in terms of accuracy of sculpting and to the movie itself. The figure is therefore getting a make-over and a new release in the Infinity Saga collection. The new Infinity War Cap will now come with two head options, with a better likeness to Infinity War Chris Evans with the beard and longer hair. He will also come with both Wakanda shields and a pair of clenched fists so he "can do this all day". The figure looks to use the original body, so the good news should be that you can retrospectively swap the head off the old figure with one of the new improved ones. Captain America will be a Walmart exclusive in the US. Over in the UK and elsewhere in the world we would hope he is available via the Fan Channel, but as yet the figure has not been offered by Hasbro Pulse UK or the other main retailers. Like all the Infinity Saga sets, Cap will be a 1st of September 2021 release. Joining the Marvel Legends Infinity Saga collection of figures later this Summer is the impressive Iron Monger, complete with a figure of its pilot Obadiah Stane. The set features Obadiah in his suit complete with a briefcase and Tony's arc reactor. The impressive Iron Monger is, thankfully, not a repaint of the original 2008 release and looks to stand somewhere around 9-inches tall. It comes with a rail gun and ammunition as well as a shoulder cannon, alternative hands, and a repulsor blast FX. The set will release as of the 1st of September 2021 alongside the other Infinity Saga sets. The Iron Monger size makes this the most expensive of the ten sets with the cheapest pre-order coming in at £65 up to £80 and beyond. The 3rd wave of McFarlane's Warhammer 40k action figure line has gone up for pre-order at Big Bad Toy Store, and that means we now have a clear look at the three figures and their packaging. The wave doesn't expand the line too much as we have variants of already released figures. The Necron Tomb World armies will be bolstered by the arrival of the Necron Flayer who is a variant on the original Necron Warrior. The Flayer comes with flesh decoration over their head and shoulders and a pair of claws as weapons. The Flayer will come as both a painted figure and an unpainted Artists proof. The other figure is another variant of the Adepta Sororitas, this time from the Order of the Bloody Rose. This variant Battle Sister is identical to the original, just repainted. She comes with a chain-sword and bolter, again identical to the original release. These figures are down as a June 2021 release. The Order of the Bloody Rose is one of the major Orders Militant of the Adepta Sororitas, or the Sisters of Battle, founded in honor of Saint Mina by the Ecclesiarch Deacis VI in the middle of the 38th Millennium. From the moment a sister joins the Bloody Rose, she is taught to foster and harness her most violent impulses so that they may be unleashed upon the enemies of the faith. As soon as the foe is at close range, the sisters charge, striking at the moment they crash into the enemy lines and screaming wrathful praise as they give vent to their hatred striking with practiced precision and moving on to the next enemy before the previous one even has the time to hit the ground. Flayed Ones are Necrons who have been infected and succumbed to the Flayer Virus of the C'tan Llandu'gor, a Star god who inflicted Necrons with it as retribution for being obliterated by them. As a result the virus drives them insane with a hunger for blood and gore. They wear and decorate themselves with the skin and body parts of their opponents. Driven out or destroyed by their fellow Necrons for fear of the virus, these monstrosities congregate wherever bloodshed is to be had.
