Hasbro have announced their Star Wars exclusives for 2021. These would have been originally planned for SDCC, but that of course has been cancelled so the sets will now be Hasbro Pulse Con exclusives and sold online via Hasbro Pulse in both the UK and US in the Autumn. Joining the Black Series is a new figure of Trapper Wolf, the X-Wing Pilot from The Mandalorian as played by Dave Filoni - creator of The Clone Wars, Rebels and member of the production team for The Mandalorian and the other Star Wars live-action shows. Trapper Wolf will use the existing X-Wing pilot body and will have a removable New Republic helmet. He will be armed with his large blaster rifle as seen when he and his partner save Mando on the ice moon from the Krykna. He will be packed in the side open convention packaging introduced last year with The Armorer and Cad Bane. The only thing really missing from the set is Dave Filoni's cowboy hat. McFarlane's Witcher figures have so far been video game-based from The Wild Hunt 3. They will however soon move on to the Netflix Witcher series starring Henry Cavill - and today they gave us a brief glimpse at the first of these figures. The final 1/10 Art Scale statue in the Iron Studios Black Widow quartet is Natasha Romanoff herself. She is sculpted atop a diorama base, posed with one foot stood on an overturned filing cabinet and her batons raised ready for battle. Black Widow is designed to be a stand-alone piece, or she can be combined with the other statues of Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, and Taskmaster for a larger display. All of the statues are due for release in the 2nd quarter of 2022. The superheroine is staring intently, moving her sticks and positioning herself for combat, ready to face any opponent. She stands on a base littered with debris from a battle scene, her left leg atop a destroyed old file cabinet and wearing her tactical black uniform, with the red buckle of her belt in the shape of the arachnid symbol, which gave rise to her codename. As the Black Widow movie hit our cinema screens, the SH Figuarts team confirmed another 1/12 release from the movie in the shape of their exclusive white "snow" suited Black Widow. Iron Studios have announced the 3rd 1/10 Art Scale statue in their Black Widow MCU range, Red Guardian. Like the previously announced Taskmaster and Yelena Belova, Red Guardian is sculpted as though roaring, ready for battle on a diorama base and can be combined with the other statues in a wider diorama. Like the other Art Scale Black Widow releases, Red Guardian is a 2nd quarter 2022 release. In a pose like he's screaming furiously, the long-bearded Russian-Soviet super-soldier is ready to fight, proudly wearing his patriotic red uniform, the symbol of his nation. The giant advances through folders and file drawers, with damaged documents near his feet, on the base floor, ready to face with clenched fists any enemy in front of him, and defend his protege allied agents against the threat of the mysterious villain, Taskmaster, just like in the movie Black Widow. Thus, Iron Studios brings its statue of the great "Red Guardian BDS Art Scale 1/10 - Black Widow - Iron Studios". In the comics, although more than one character has acted with the codename Red Guardian, in the movie, we are introduced to the best known and most popular among them, the irascible Alexi Shostakov, played by the charismatic actor David Harbour. He is the Russian-Soviet version of Captain America, a highly trained hero of the communist nation with enhanced strength and brain. Depicted as a father figure to senior Red Room agents Natasha Romanoff and Yelena at the MCU, he has an apparent love affair with agent Melina Vostokoff, known as the villain Iron Maiden in the comics. The Black Widow wave of Marvel Legends was released in the Spring of 2020, with the movie originally planned for a Summer 2020 release. The Covid 19 pandemic delayed the film by nearly a year and without a movie to push the sales the wave did appear to hang around and peg warm for some time. Black Widow herself was presented in the wave in her black suit, with a deluxe version also released in the white suit. Both figures shared parts, head sculpts, and some accessories. The wave also included Black Widow movie figures of Taskmaster, Red Guardian, and Yelena Belova. It was then rounded out with comic book figures of The Winter Soldier, Spymaster, and Crossbones - with a Crimson Dynamo Build-a-figure. The packaging artwork was themed around Cold War-era propaganda photos with strong red accent colours on the illustrations - in this case, Natasha's hair. The box features a very brief text background. "Natasha Romanoff reunites with a group of spies from her past to stop a lethal force" The figure uses a new head sculpt for Scarlet Johanson that is perhaps not quite as strong as the Infinity War / Endgame version but is still excellent - enhanced by the photo-real decor application. The hairpiece is a separate sculpt and looks a little odd with one side presenting lower than the other. I do get this is trying to replicate an onscreen look. The costume utilises most of the parts from the other Widow release, the white "snow" suit, with the arms, legs, and torso all the same but repainted. The upper chest is a different piece with an added holster on the back for the batons. The colour scheme is predominantly grey with black trim and this is a good change vs most of the previous Widow figures in the MCU. The costume also has some classic comic book nods like the gold trim and stingers and red highlights on the shoulders. Everything is neat and well painted. Widow is armed with her batons. These are cast in dark grey plastic and do arrive warped due to ot the way they are packed. They lack any real detail, but fit neatly in each hand - and when not in use they can be holstered using the backpack. There are also a pair of handguns included. These are again a single base colour, but are crisper and better detailed. They fit in the same gripping hands, and can also be holstered when not in use via the thigh holsters. If you want your Black Widow to be posed in a more hand-to-hand combat stance, then the gripping hands can be swapped out for the alternative pair of fists provided. This gives a further option for display - particularly when the batons and pistols are holstered. Swap in and out is easy enough and the hands are painted to match the costume with the grey panel section on the back of the hands. When you swap the hands you can also remove the wrist stingers if you wish which are separate parts. Articulation for Widow comes in with 16 points of articulation. This includes double-jointed knees allowing Black Widow to kneel and slide into combat positions. The arms could do with double joint elbows, but the existing solution does a pretty decent job - bending past 90-degrees - it just has a slightly tough rotation that is heavily ratcheted and can only move within the confines of the elbow shape. This version also improves on the white suit with the shape of the upper torso not blocking the arms so they can be lowered into a natural position at the figures side. All of the joints are tight and secure, and Widow is a joy to pose and stand. She also fits onto the dynamic stand included with the white suit deluxe figure for further options. Out of all the Black Widow figures available at launch in 2020, this is the best of the bunch. It does a great job in terms of likeness, decor, and articulation. And with plenty of accessories to choose from, there are plenty of posing options. My only builds would have been a straighter and more detailed set of batons, and perhaps double joint elbows. It may not be the definitive Black Widow, I think that is something still to come, it does give Natasha a further representation in an MCU Marvel line dominated by Captain America and Iron-Man. As the long-awaited Black Widow solo Marvel Cinematic Universe movie makes its debut in cinemas, the Iron Studios team has announced a new set of tie-in 1/10 Art Scale polystone statues. Yelena Belova is sculpted in her white suit with combat vest, and in a dynamic action shot atop a diorama base. She is wielding her bo-staff. The statue is part of a wider set that also contains Black Widow, Red Guardian, and Taskmaster. Yelena will be released in the 2nd Quarter of 2022 (April-June). With a body expression full of movement, the figure of the blond Russian agent climbs a diorama base full of debris and elements of a combat scenario. Dressed in a white tactical uniform, with a black vest and gloves, she poses with her long stick in her left hand, as if spinning it, ready to confront an opponent who tries to surprise her in vain. Thus Iron Studios presents the statue "Yelena BDS Art Scale 1/10 - Black Widow - Iron Studios", Natasha Romanoff's ally in the Black Widow movie. In the Marvel comics, Yelena Belova and Natasha Romanoff participated in the same training program for intelligence agents in the so-called Red Room, with Yelena receiving the same training to become as effective a spy as Romanoff. The blonde became the second agent to adopt the code name Black Widow. She is a master in martial arts, sniper, computer expert, and fluent in several languages. In addition to remarkable acrobatic skills, thanks to her high physical and athletic conditioning. As the long-awaited Black Widow solo Marvel Cinematic Universe movie makes its debut in cinemas, the Iron Studios team has announced a new set of tie-in 1/10 Art Scale polystone statues - starting with Taskmaster. Taskmaster is posed in a battle stance atop a rubble diorama base. He is using his sword and shield and with his good up over the skeletal mask. Taskmaster is part of a wider set of 1/10 statues that will also feature Black Widow, Yelena Belova, and Red Guardian. Taskmaster is a 2nd Quarter 2022 release (April-June). The Black Widow movie, which will premiere on July 9 in theaters and on Disney+ streaming, has as its main antagonist a figure who wears a hood and a metallic mask similar to a skull. The enigmatic character stands on a base of a battleground, wielding a short sword in his right hand along with his characteristic shield in his left forearm. Wearing a combat uniform in the same colors as his traditional comic book apparel, his identity and goals are a great mystery. His appearance is faithfully portrayed in this new "Taskmaster BDS Art Scale 1/10 - Black Widow - Iron Studios" statue. Created in the Marvel comics by the brilliant David Michelinie and the iconic George Pérez in 1980, Taskmaster is a mercenary with an excellent photographic memory that allows him to imitate any fighting style due to his short- and long-term memory. He can replicate Captain America's abilities with his shield, Hawkeye's archery, among other skills of several heroes, managing to anticipate the moves during combat to defeat his opponents. As a mercenary, he often works as a combat instructor, training other villains' henchmen by teaching them the techniques he learned from watching various superheroes. In the Black Widow movie, after the events that occurred in Captain America: Civil War (2016), the avenger Natasha Romanoff finds herself on a forced flight and must face a dangerous conspiracy closely tied to her past. She will meet allies like The Red Guardian and Yelena Belova, other figures that will compose this series of statues from Iron Studios, and face the dangerous Taskmaster.
