The second wave of Hasbro's 6-inch Ghostbusters Plasma Series was released in the Autumn of 2021 and was based entirely on the new 2021 Ghostbusters Afterlife movie. The wave featured three of the new characters and the three remaining Ghostbusters from their appearance late in the movie. The second wave, like the first, included a Build-a-Ghost with the Afterlife Sentinal Terror Dog included across the 6 releases. This figure was provided free of charge by Hasbro for the purpose of being photographed and reviewed. Thanks to Hasbro for their ongoing support. Trevor is packed in the same packaging as the first wave, and while most of the packaging remains as was in wave 1 and there is no direct reference to Afterlife, there are some artwork changes down the left-hand spine. While the first wave had illustrations of Rey, Egon, Peter, and Winston - this second wave has a montage of Lucky, Podcast, Pheobe, and Trevor. Round the back of the box we have a short background speel about Trevor - that gives very little away as expected - as well as the Build-a-Ghost checklist - Trevor comes with the Sentinel's right arm. "Average teenage boy Trevor loves fast cars, reckless driving, cool adventures and, like, stuff." Trevor arrives in the Ghostbusters jumpsuit as worn in the final scenes of the movie. Like the movie, the jumpsuit caries the GB logo on the right shoulder - but has no nameplate on the chest. The suit is sculpted so the suit is baggy and oversized, but some parts don't line up cleanly - most obvious around the thigh swivel. I assume parts will be shared across some of the other Teenage characters. Trevor is appropriately scaled as a teenage boy - slightly under the usual 6-inch height of an adult character. The suit is cast in a beige plastic with painted details only on the elbow pads, the hose connector on the leg, and the black shirt he is wearing under the suit. Trevor has the same issue as the original Ghostbuster figures in wave 1 in that the costume is too clean and needs weathering to bring out more of the detail. The head sculpt is a decent - but not perfect - likeness to Finn Wolfhard. Photo-real deco is used to add realism to the facial features but it doesn't quite come off vs say some of the likenesses Marvel Legends are putting out. The hair for Trevor is not voluminous enough and is too light in colour. In a weird way, the look on the figure is perhaps closer to Finn in Stranger Things when he cosplayed as a Ghostbuster. Trevor comes with a number of film-accurate accessories, starting with the map. This is printed onto a quite brittle feeling paper and then rolled up in the box. Trevor can hold it by sliding the edge into the pinched fingers on the hands. The printing and colour of the paper look the part, and the only issue will be one of longevity. We then have a string of Mini-Pufts who make a number of appearances in the movie. This string of four Stay Pufts is taken from the final Ecto-1 scenes as they try and disrupt our heroes. The piece is cast in white with no paint apps. It has not the easiest to display as there is no obvious connection to the figure. I did think that a hole on Trevor's belt may allow the Stay Puft's slotted in here and then were posed as thought climbing the chest - but the two pieces do not connect, and I still don't know what the belt hole is for. In the end, I got Trevor to hold these as though being attacked. The Proton Pack arrives as a separate piece in the box and is essentially the same one as used in Wave 1. The belt disconnects at one side allowing the pack to go over Trevor's head and arm and reconnect around his waist. The pack is very detailed, cast in black plastic, with painted detail on the wiring and across several silver components. Unlike Wave 1, the Proton Thrower is separate in the box and connects to the base of the Proton Pack with a plug-in socket. For some reason, the piping that connects the Proton Thrower to the pack is much more rigid than the first wave and that makes posing more difficult as the piping doesn't behave naturally. When not in use, the Proton Emitter clips into the pack with a secure peg and socket. Like most of the Ghostbusters releases (Winston aside), there is no proton beam included in the set. Trevor's articulation is only 14 points, with the biggest issue being the lack of any ankle rockers with the feet sculpted as part of the lower legs. This makes Trevor a little trickier to pose and stand. The arms really needed better elbow joints and butterfly joints at the shoulder to allow Trevor to hold and fire the Proton Stream. The range of motion only really allows a couple of awkward two-handed poses - and the lack of a chest joint doesn't help. The GHostbusters line hasn't hit the heights of say Star Wars or Marvel Legends yet and Trevor feels like a backward step. Like the first releases, the likeness is not quite there on the head, and the costume is lacking paint detail. Trevor also then gets downgraded on articulation, and while the accessories make sense - still not including a Proton Stream is disappointing. These figures did seem to struggle when released ahead of the movie but are now starting to clear from shelves and online stores. There is unlikely to be a better Trevor figure in the near future, so if you want an Afterlife team this is a figure you should grab while it remains at retail, but be mindful this is not to the standard Hasbro applies to their other 6-inch licenses. The NECA exclusive set of Flash Gordon and Ming the Merciless was originally announced in the Summer at the NECA comic-con online event. The set will feature Flash Gordon and Ming the Merciless in outfits inspired by the 1980 movie, although the likeness are that of the animated versions, The set is exclusive to Walmart in the US and will arrive in early 2022. The History of the Daleks Set #5 from Character Options was released in the Summer of 2021 as part of the B&M Exclusive range of Doctor Who sets. It is the first of two sets from the 2nd Doctor Era, taken from the 1966 story Power of the Daleks. The History of the Daleks packaging remains consistent with the other release to date and features a silver TARDIS outline design, deep blue accent colours, and a silver version of the current Doctor Who logo. Like all the other sets, the cutting of the left side panel on the box front at an angle does obscure most of the left-hand Dalek in the box. The rear of the box is turned over, as usual, to a full write-up of the story and some behind-the-scenes information for the 1966 serial and the Dalek props used. As has been my opinion for a while, I still feel the level of detail - while impressive - is too much and gives away the full story and plot and doesn't tease collectors to go and explore the story for themselves. 'THE POWER OF THE DALEKS' (1966) The TARDIS brings the new Second Doctor and his companions to the planet Vulcan where the Doctor immediately witnesses the murder of an Earth Examiner who was sent to discover the reasons behind a rebellion. The Doctor assumes the identity of the examiner and is taken to meet Governor Hensell, and his Deputy Quinn. The Doctor learns of an ancient ship discovered by the colony's chief scientist, called Lesterson. They sneak into his laboratory and discover two dormant Daleks, with a third missing. When the Doctor asks where the missing Dalek is, he is told its been taken to be reactivated. Lesterson manages to revive the Dalek and removes its gun but a colonist is killed. Quinn is soon revealed as the one who summoned the Examiner and is arrested leaving Bragan the Security Head and second in Command. Lestersons' reactivated Dalek, immediately feigns loyalty to the colonists and reassured by the good intentions of the Daleks, he reactivates the other two. But it seems the three Daleks are planning to take over the colony, and despite The Doctor warning them that Daleks are not to be trusted, they soon build a Dalek replication plant. Bragen is revealed to be the killer and behind the rebellion and orders a Dalek to kill the Governor. The Doctor, Ben ad Polly escape the chaos and help fight a losing battle against the rebels and the Daleks. Lesterson dies and although the Doctor destroys the Daleks by turning their power source against them, as the Doctor and crew return to the TARDIS we see a Dalek eyestalk move. Behind the Scenes Again the Daleks were given a makeover for Patrick Troughton's first story. The four main props were redressed in all silver livery but there were some subtle changes between the older and newer props. The props were fitted with new guns that looked closer to the movie style Daleks weapons with straight sided metal bars. However, the gauge of metal rod used on these new guns was not too robust and as they were often pulled around the studio by them the guns tended to be bow inwards after time leading to the curved look of later stories. The Dalek eyes were also updated but this led to a very odd mix of the original 'working iris' prop on one Dalek and newer non-functioning eyes with a small white pupil on the others. The Dalek cup shaped dome lights remained unchanged but are 'surface' mounted here, rather than from below giving the lights a 'hat' like look. Its also worth noting for this story there was also the need for a sieve like device for transferring 'baby' mutant Daleks from the incubator room to the Dalek casings this replaced the standard sucker arm. The only previous Power of the Dalek drone release was in the 2012 Sounds FX Daleks line. The 2021 version uses the non-electronic Dalek body, and is very similar to The Chase Dalek released last year at B&M but does have an upgraded gun arm to match the props of 1966. Colours are accurate to the props at the time, even though they were aired in black and white. The silver with blue hemispheres is consistent with the other 1960's Daleks in the line, although there is some minor variances in colour considering the various factory runs. The Power of the Daleks Drone also has a smaller painted iris on the eyestalk vs the original release to try and differentiate it further. The second Dalek in the set is the Mutant Scoop Dalek and it is identical to the drone with the exception of the sucker arm which is replaced with the Mutant Scoop attachment. This is a silver cast piece with a textured circular tray at the end for transporting Dalek mutants. The miss with the Mutant Scoop Dalek itself is not including the Dalek Mutant itself to sit on the scoop - even if this had been a less accurate repaint of the Dalek Mutant from the recent Reconnaissance Dalek. Both Daleks articulate in the usual way with a rotating dome and wheels under the chassis to allow the Dalek to be pushed around. The eyestalk sits in a slot allowing up and down motion, while the gun arm and sucker/mutant scoop arms are ball joints and therefore have a wider range of motion. There is an issue with one of my Daleks with a dodgy eyestalk that doesn't stay up, but having bought a 2nd set for my son this seems to be an isolated issue. Going back to the packaging and Character has included a diorama backdrop in the inner packaging, designed to represent the interior of the Earth colony on Vulcan. It looks great and with some work to disguise the plain cardboard sides it could make an interesting display setting for the Power of the Dalek sets. The Power of the Daleks set is another solid release from Character and B&M and good value as the price is still holding at £19.99 considering price rises elsewhere in the action figure world. While the Dalek sculpt has been heavily used previously, there is an attention to detail over the small changes each Dalek story presented and the addition of the Mutant Scoop gives us a brand new Dalek model for the collection. The set may suffer from 60's Dalek fatigue in stores as it is the 5th set to feature silver & blue Daleks to the casual observer. I am glad to see they are mixing this up having held back the Evil of the Daleks set for the next releases and sticking this on the shelf with the Gold & Grey Day of the Daleks. As always, grab these while they are on shelves - there won't be a re-run and the more popular sets do jump in price on the market. The next S.H. Monsterarts Godzilla release will be the 2004 Godzilla from Final Wars. The 6.3-inch figure will be released in May 2022. Super7 has teased a new line of Ultimates 7-inch figures that are due to be revealed soon. The accompanying image (below) of the WB water tower and references to Acme Labs indicate characters from Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain will be included. We await more details.

Revealed on Marvel.com as part of Marvel Must Have's are two new Marvel Legend figures of Hawkeye and Kate Bishop from the current Disney+ Hawkeye series. Both figures are digital renders at this point and show the two figures with their relevant bow and an alternative paid of hands. As yet there are no release dates confirmed, but considering the early stage of the images, they are likely to b Summer 2022 at the earliest. The Autumn of 2021 saw the Fornite license for 6-inch scale figures transfer away from Jazwares - and McFarlane who had been doing 7-inch figures - and move to Hasbro who launched the Victory Royale Series of Fortnite figures, adding it to their extensive roster of collectible 6-inch figures. This figure was provided to us free of charge by Hasbro for us to photograph & review The Victory Royale series provided Hasbro with an option to experiment with their packaging for the new figures as they work to their commitment to reducing plastic. The Fortnite figures are presented in an almost fully cardboard box with a single-window that shows us the head and torso of the figure. Inside, we lose the plastic tray and the figure is tied into the cardboard tray by way of elasticated ties. The accessories, no longer on display in the windows, are wrapped in wax paper and tucked into the inner tray. The figure of Skye is executed in an animated style rather than the more realistic figures we might find in the Marvel or Star Wars lines. The face has exaggerated features such as larger eyes, and the colours across the figure are bold and bright. Skye features a blue jacket with painted badges and a yellow sweater, red 'Ollie' hat, and black shorts and tights. Around her neck is a camera piece, an individual cast piece. The figure is finished with a pair of brown fur topped boots and for the hands a pair of fingerless red & black gloves. Said hands do look quite large considering Skye's frame... The hand's decision is most likely to ensure Skye can hold the various weapons and accessories that Hasbro is going to bring into the line. The set itself is quite light on weaponry, but we can look forward to stand-alone loot packs to increase the figures arsenal. We do get a few pieces with Skye, starting with her mythic Grapple Gun. There are also a pair of blue-bladed 'Swords of Wonder' which act as Skye's harvesting tool. The Fortnite figures are also going to have a generic back socket for the addition of back bling, with Skye coming with her Adventure Pack. This too has a lot of colour and deco additions including a tree icon on the shield, and individual screen and buttons painted on the mobile phone. A slot is worked into the pack so one of the Swords of Wonder can be sheathed in the back bling. Skye is a deluxe release in the Victory Royale series as she includes her Ollie Glider. Ollie arrives in two halves and clips together to make the final glider. Like Skye, the colours on Ollie are crisp and bright with painted eyes and mouth and a golden star on his underbelly. Ollie can stand on his own, although he features no articulation. Skye can also hold onto the two lower handles to display the pair as a player and a glider, but this is not easy to pull off as a free-standing display considering the size of Ollie and trying to balance this on the smaller frame of Skye. There is also no stand included and while you can get some poses on an aftermarket stand (see below) it is far from ideal. When it comes to articulation, Hasbro has pulled out all the stops and Skye has 24 points of articulation, beyond that of both Marve Legends and G.I. Joe. Skye has double joints on her knees along with ankle rockers, boot cut & thigh rotations, and hip ball joints. The arms also get double joints on the elbows, wrist pivot, bicep swivel, ball joint shoulder,s and butterfly joints. Across the main trunk of the body, we get a waist swivel, chest ball joint, and dual joint neck that articulates at both ends. All of these joints are tight and secure and Skye stands securely once posed and balanced. The Victory Royale series from Hasbro is off to a good start if Skye & Ollie is anything to go by with a good choice of aesthetics in line with the game graphics, bright and crisp paint job, decent accessories with scope for more via add-on packs and the most comprehensive articulation of any Hasbro 6-inch collectors line. Whether you are a fan of Fortnite, or a collector of well-designed and interesting figures - something that Jazwares and McFarlane benefited from - then the Hasbro Victory Royale series will not disappoint. Q9-0 appeared in The Mandalorian Season 1 in Chapter 6, The Prisoner as part of the crew that is put together to raid the New Republic prison ship. Zero would then, albeit as spare parts, have a role in Chapter 10, Season 2 when his voice unit was appropriated by the Passenger so she could communicate with Mando. Zero's Black Series release came in Wave 5 of the Galaxy Collection, arriving in November 2021. He is part of the Mandalorian series, number 11 in the collection to date. The box design includes the usual side art panel and the short background text on the back of the box. "A bug-eyed protocol droid with modified programming, Q9-0 - or "Zero" to his colleagues - operates with precision timing" Zero is a full new figure cast in a dark grey plastic throughout. The detailing on the chest and midriff is recognisable as a protocol droid with the central circular panel and the wiring under the chest piece which is painted with red and blue wires on the front, even though most of this detail is hidden by the added brown soft plastic harness vest. The wiring on the back of the figure goes unpainted. There is more wiring detail on each arm crossing the elbow joint. These wires are also painted in yellow and red this time and engineered so they move with the elbow motion whilst disguising the joint at the same time. The final paint app on the body is a weathering layer on the upper torso which does dirty Zero up nicely as we see in the episode - although oddly, this weathering is not continued onto the legs or around the back of the figure. The insectoid head sculpt is cast in the same grey as the body with the enlarged 'bug-eyes' painted in metallic silver. There is plenty of detail on the head, particularly the mouth, but no further paint or weathering layer is added to enhance this. The aerial piece is slightly slimmer than we saw on Aurra Sing, and is better in scale for the figure while not being too brittle or at risk of breaking if mishandled. Zero is armed with an EE-3 carbine rifle, and while this is the same weapon used by Boba Fett the accessory with Zero is a new piece and not a re-use of the Fett weapon. It is cast in grey plastic with painted brown stock. The weapon fits neatly into the right hand and can be cradled with the left around the barrel with a bit of teasing to open up the fingers a little further. Zero has 21 points of articulation with the use of the new two joint neck and the shoulder butterfly joints. In keeping with the Droid design, the knee joints are also done to recreate a simple piston joint with an additional rotation added above the knee joint tucked under the thigh panels. These knee joints, as well as the ankles, include a clear plastic central pin, which is unusual. We don't see enough of Zero's legs on the screen to know if these are accurate or not? Posing Zero is really satisfying as all the joints work as they should. All of them are tight and secure and the engineering on things like the shoulder armour panels that sit above, and move with the joint, is impressive. Zero is easy to pose and holds these poses on display, you can even get him to sit in a chair if those talented enough ever built a Razor Crest pilots seat. Zero is one of the strongest Black Series releases for some time both in the fact it is not a partial repaint or re-used figure and in the engineering and execution of the sculpt and articulation to give us another excellent Droid in the 6-inch scale. The G.I. Joe Classified figures of the Alley Viper and Cobra B.A.T. were announced back at Hasbro Pulse Con in October 2021 but it has taken over a month for the figures to go up for pre-order. The Alley Viper will include a shield, knives, assault rifle, sub-machine gun, crossbow, and backpack. Costco in the UK has put a new Hasbro Star Wars set up for sale containing six budget Star Wars figures. For those not familiar with the line, the budget line of figures dates back to 2015 and the Force Awakens with the figures distributed to discount retailers including Aldi and then Lidl here in the UK. The figures are generally only articulated at the neck and shoulders and are made to a 6-inch size and not a scale so all figures are identical in size. The figures in the set feature previously released figures of Rey, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and the Death Trooper. We then have the latest additions to the line, the Mandalorian and Grogu complete with hover-pram (but no stand). The set is priced at £14.89 at Costco with VAT to be added on top.
